5. Biggest Disappointment? Dead Collections by Isaac Fellman, it had a very interesting premise but didn’t do much with it? Or at least I feel like it could’ve done so much more cause the potential was there but it didn’t, instead went over the same point over and over again in a fairly boring way so the whole thing ended up falling flat for me

6. Biggest Surprise? Can’t say a book has surprised me yet so far, all have pretty much matched expectations, but there’s still time

7. Favorite New Author? Not exactly new but Pacat did confirm my love for her writing once again, and did not disappoint even with the “limits” of YA target audience which did have me a bit skeptical at first, but boy did she deliver

8. Newest Favorite Character? Will Kempen (Dark Rise) is the most pathetic wettest little meow meow he’ll have to be so strong to withstand book #3😔💪🏻

14. Most Beautiful Cover? Firekeepeer’s Daughter is mesmerising, love the mirror effect and the colours! Also The Chosen and the Beautiful has very delicate feel to it, and fits the book perfectly so that’s a close second

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of The Year? I’m trying to get through all the books/ebooks I already have so that’s a plan. Also I’m currently reading The Goldfinch and if it doesn’t wear me out I might tackle The Secret History next and then Babel as I’ve had those on my TBR for a while now, and I wanted to read Babel after TSH since I’ve seen it described as a critique/different take on the same themes of that (and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell which I’ve already read)

Any fanfic recommendations? I’ve hit a wall I think. Anything I enjoyed either isn’t updating anymore (don’t take this as me pushing You For updates btw no stressing out here no sir) or is in very very early stages to a point where I’m not sure whether not i actually enjoy it (case in point: this time travel fanfic I stumbled across that barely has any plot atp — like one chapter I think? And while the summary sounds pretty good I dunno if it’s worth getting invested :/)

HI i am still alive yes!!! i've just been very busy and distracted. I only got back from my summer camp last Friday, so Saturday was Recovery time and Sunday went school shopping, Monday went looking for volunteering work(didn't find any😔) Tuesday had a roadtrip and yesterday I was writing music all day(I have a Problem)

I have done a post with fanfic recommendations before and I did just spend ages looking for it to link it but I cannot find it for the life of me. I actually don't read a lot of fanfiction myself, I prefer writing it BUT I have a few authors I could recommend.

First my beloved friend @sorry-i-panicked who is the author of 'The memory of your name' which you will find is actually the only sskk fic to exist. I am not a particularly avid sskk shipper myself but i eat this fic UP every time it updates. It's still ongoing, and usually updates every other monday <3

I'd also recommend another one of my mutuals, @woklaza who is the author of 'Looking at the stars like we used to' which I regretfully haven't read yet but is definitely on my tbr They've also written a number of other bsd oneshots too!! I did a fic exchange with them for valentine's and it was AWESOME so i highly recommend

'to forget that is unforgivable' by @myshenkamouse is also really good, though it hasn't been updated in a while. I know the author has been working on the next chapter(I've had the honour of beta reading) and it is REALLY good if you have the patience to wait.

The main other thing I'd recommend may the series of relationship reveals by xxalwayssofia on ao3, I haven't read them all but I want through a phase of a few days where I'd just sit for hours and read through them, there's 47 so far, and I found them pretty funny most of the time.

Sorry I don't have more ;-; I'm really not the person to go to for fic recommendations, since I usually only read what my mutuals write. Some things I read and enjoyed were 'Tempus Fugit', 'Magic and Mystery' and the sequel, this fic with a title too long to type, 'Exposure therapy' (ongoing), and 'The life we could've lived' though I haven't finished it yet.

In terms of my own fics, I'm going to work on the next chapter of as the gold bleeds into grey right now actually, and I'll probably post it when it's done instead of waiting for sunday. I don't know how many of my fics you've read, but I have 33 in total, so maybe you could check some of the others out if you haven't yet.

DECEMBER 26, 1982 IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

THIRD PERSON P.O.V.

leighton sighed gently as she continued sewing scarves with her mother. the eighteen year old girl, who was the youngest of all her siblings, was very close with her mother - she was definitely more of a mama's girl than a daddy's girl - and one thing the two girls bonded over was sewing.

"leighton, you look like you have something on your mind, dear," her mother, jan, said to her, setting down the cloth she was showing and looking at her daughter. "yeah, there's a lot on my mind, actually," the young teen responded. "trent, uhm... you know how he's been these past two years, nothing but horrible to me, so i finally dumped him."

"as you should've," jan responded, making leighton giggle a bit. "but the problem is, he's still living with his parents, and he knows where i live, so he can definitely still get to me; that really worries me," the brunette said to her mother, tears forming in her eyes at the thought. "hey, honey, it's alright; you don't need to worry about it, alright? we'll all protect you, baby girl," jan said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, and celeste let it all out; she began sobbing nearly uncontrollably.

her now ex-boyfriend, trent, had been... well, not exactly her high school sweetheart, but her high school boyfriend for just over 2 years now. when she had first met him, he seemed like a real nice guy, but basically immediately after she started dating him, trent began acting like a manipulative dick. he'd make her get into things she didn't want to get into, he made her do things she didn't want to, he made her believe that he loved her when he was really just using her. leighton was gullible as fuck, and she did and believed all these things. she was a puppet with her strings being pulled by trent, the master of puppets. this had all been going on for two whole years, and then leighton's older brother, cliff, finally smacked some sense into her and got her to break up with him.

just then, the front door flung open, and jan looked over to see cliff standing there with a wide smile, which was quickly replaced with a frown when he saw his baby sister crying. "hey, leighton, what's up?" he asked her, rushing over to her and sitting next to her and putting a hand on her shoulder. the brunette struggled to speak through her sobs, but she was able to get something out. "it's a long story," she responded when she was able to take deep breaths and collect herself. "so long story short, i dumped trent, but i'm still scared of him getting to me somehow."

"and like i said earlier, we'll protect you," jan told her. "yeah, we'll do it with our lives. i'd gladly beat his ass, just so you know," cliff reassured his sister, making her smile slightly. "oh, also, you know how i talked to the boys of metallica about maybe hiring you as our wardrobe lady?" the redhead asked his sister, and she nodded. "well, you're hired, leighton," cliff said with a smile, and leighton smiled widely. "really? oh my god, thanks so much!" she said, hugging her brother tightly, and he chuckled slightly and hugged her back.

in the matter of seconds, all her worries were gone, and she was the happiest girl in the world. all her years of beauty school and practicing design were finally paying off! she didn't care if she wasn't going to get paid well.

all that mattered to her was that she finally got a job that she'd been dreaming of having.

1. Galky i cannot overstate how much I’m obsessed with Under the Vitrine Glass 😔😔😔😔 it kept giving and giving and my the end of it i truly understood the utter devastation of never being able to experience that for the first time again.

2. On one hand my fave chapter was the culmination where Jason’s trailing Tim during the abduction and just has to…. Sit with it. On the other hand the chapter with their confession scene had me howling like a stock wolf sound in a kid’s show halloween special u see

6. Steph’s high school au romcom guess of what jaytim was doing undercover is definitely up there for things that suddenly come into my mind like a pop-up ad on kissanime and so is young justice eating their defeated crab monster

but actually that part in fates when jasons in tims bathroom panickedly calling roy and the archer says like ‘how do u platonically call another man baby 🤔’ that haunts my dreams like a generational curse

I'm SO glad to hear that the scene with Jason having to just wait was as effective as I was hoping, I tried really hard to strike a balance between Tim's competence and the danger the position he'd put himself in posed, and Jason's absolute respect for the first one while struggling with the second. It and the scene where Tim needs him to touch him to ground him mean SO much to me.

I'm delighted to hear that some of the funnier parts work for you! I'm always questioning if these things are amusing to anyone but me

I actually wrote the first few scenes for the Vitrine sequel WAY back and will have to look at it again at some point- I have NOT forgotten I'm just a baby who doesn't want to look up new jerseys municipal codes and would need some fortitude to write Tim in his "Wayne Heir" persona for an extended amount of time

i’ve recently rediscovered your fic ‘Just a Volunteer’ (started it a year ago before i lost it 😔) and sadly, i’ve almost reached the end of it. i was just wondering if there were other works you’d recommend similar to it?? If you haven't seen (and I apologize if you already know this): the good news on my fanfic is that The Lost Files is one (difficult) chapter away from completion, and Book #2 is actually almost halfway done! It's only being held up by that aforementioned difficult chapter. I am doing my best, and I really genuinely appreciate the patience and kindness of everyone sticking around.

Anyways, onto your real question!

As for suggestions, it is so dependent on what you're looking for! I try not to read too much of other people's work just because I don't want to accidentally plagiarize any ideas, but I can point you in a few directions! Also, plenty of stories are incomplete. (All these link to Ao3, which is the premier site for this kind of content. I didn't want to make anyone uncomfy by pointing directly to a Tumblr, so I hope this is okay.)

Non-Terrae Plus Ultra: This fic is one of the longest I've seen, and has a number of Reader x Character interactions. This writer keeps Revenant extremely rough and mean, and it is explicit with no mature version, so read at your own risk! You can easily skip to the interactions you're more interested in, rather than reading the whole thing. The author is very dedicated to writing a lot and often, and I cannot help but be impressed by them for that.

If You Make a Robot Your B****: This is a fic writer here on Tumblr as well, but mind the rules of having your age in your bio before interacting (oops got myself blocked that way—but that's my own fault even though I'm old enough!). Either way, they made a lot and seem to have gathered a large fanbase doing so for good reason. You could easily carouse their backlog for anything you're interested in. Generally, their work is explicit (hence their rules) with no mature version.

I'm Not Supposed to Love You: As you can imagine, this one is also explicit (I really hope you weren't looking for a mature selection... goodness I messed up if so). This person also posted to Tumblr quite a bit, and honestly I just found their work super cool. I got to beta read a few chapters, and help a little wherever possible. I think they've been off the scene for a bit, and I hope the author is doing well and enjoying life, but this one may never be completed. Despite that, it'll always be nostalgic for me just because the author was always kind to me, even in a really dark time in my life.

Red Lines: Explicit. Haha... ah. Anyways! This is also a good writer form the Tumblrsphere as well, and this was—I believe—the first fanfiction I ever read? I think? So in a way, my entire writing career (as short and socially unacceptable as it has been) is owed to this one. Which is crazy to think! But honestly, my own work has a couple very loose references to this one, in part based on this piece teaching me a bit about the canon lore when I was still learning. Solid one.

So, uh, those are all explicit. I am so sorry if you were looking for ones with mature options. I don't think it's too often that a writer will make a mature version of their work, but I am very glad I did for those who were uncomfy with explicit works. I also think my narrative is a bit unique, and I'm not entirely sure who else "writes like me". All these share the same subject of affection, at least! So hopefully they'll suffice!
