i was prompted to check my word count on ch 21 yesterday. which, knowing i have several scenes to write and join with what's been written, i did not expect to be very much. i haven't checked it since that post way back when i was writing 17 or 18 though ive written quite a bit since then

it's 12.3k already. and (as i already dodgeballed myself then, ill say it now too) i tentatively predicted 20k as a final. to which the response was 'as a lower limit?'

to which i said 'what? no, as a max'

*cue veryyyyyy long pause as i take inventory on what's missing and do some math*

anyway!! HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OP OF A POST AND THE PERSON YOU ARE REBLOGGING A POST FROM:

so here is a random post on my dashboard. there are three URLs (aka usernames) on this post. i have highlighted them below:

BLUE (medievaljournalist) is the OP of the post. OP stands for Original Post, or in this context Original Poster, as in the person who made this post. the square image next to their URL is BLUE'S avatar/icon/PFP (profile picture)/whatever you want to call it

GREEN (jaskierx) is the person i'm following, whose reblog of this post is the one i'm seeing on my dash. if i were to reblog this post, this is the person i would be reblogging the post from. the square image of half Edward OFMD's face at the top left of this screenshot is GREEN'S avatar/icon/pfp/etc.

RED (scarrletmoon) is the person that GREEN reblogged this post from. from here, there is no way to know who RED reblogged this post from.

HERE IS THE PART OF THE POST THAT THE OP CONTRIBUTED TO:

just the body of the post, the sentence "youtube to illuminated manuscript converter is down again"

HERE IS THE PART OF THE POST THAT GREEN CONTRIBUTED TO:

nothing on the post itself, but the TAGS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST were added by GREEN. if i were to reblog this post, those tags would not be seen on my reblog. however, if i tagged my reblog "prev" or anything along those lines, THESE TAGS WOULD BE WHAT I WAS REFERRING TO. these are PREV TAGS, which are different from OP'S TAGS (on this post there aren't actually any tags on the original post, but that's where they'd be)

GREEN (asneakyfox) is the PERSON WHO'S POST I AM SEEING

RED (ourflagmeansgayrights) is the PERSON GREEN REBLOGGED THIS POST FROM. GREEN also screenshotted RED'S TAGS and added them to the post.

BLUE aka the OP made a post that said: i am making this post for the purpose of screenshots and i will be deleting this momentarily

RED reblogged the post and tagged it #woagh that's crazy. can we fuck

GREEN reblogged the post from RED and added a screenshot of RED'S tags. GREEN also added: @PREV HOW CAN YOU LEAVE THIS IN THE TAGS

anyway im mostly making this for my benefit bc sometimes ppl reblog things from me and say "PREV TAGS" but are not adding my tags, they do add my tags but they say "OP'S TAGS" when i am not the op of the post, and i never know how to explain their mistake to them. so next time something like that happens i'm probably just gonna link them to this post lol

funniest thing abt tumblr these days is the ppl who dont know how to tell the difference from the op of a post from the person they're reblogging the post from
