Nigo "荊棘の道は何処へ" Event Story Summary
A/N : I skipped one Mafuyu Nigo centric story + other three before read this one, but I kinda fomo so yeah let me finish this one first (lol)
Beware, after you finish read this event story Mizuki will disappear from any town convo and some their line will change + specifically for this event there's no after live
Character : Nigo members + An Akito Touya Tsukasa Rui
Event Story (Twitter) :
Event Story (Mine) : Event story happens after Mafuyu centric one, after she talk openly to her father. After seeing her resolve, Mizuki want to move on too and talk their inner secret to Nigo.
For first step, they want to talk to Ena first on school festival day since Ena is the first one saying would wait for Mizuki ready to opened up. Most stories spinned around Mizuki trying to prepare themself, like Meiko Kaito convo then talk to Rui who accept their real self.
Nothing noted on festival day, they're just scrolling around then after festival day ended Mizuki finally set to tell Ena at rooftop.
When the confession time, in the end it was some sh*tty NPC who reveal the truth. Mizuki shock very much and run away.
Translation above should be "in the end, you too a male ?" means he was thought Ena is same like Mizuki, male wearing female dress
Context above are about 2 NPC came while Ena waiting for Mizuki at rooftop, those two seeing Mizuki and talked about how cute they is and remember Ena scrolling around them. One NPC talks in bullying ways about how Ena Mizuki seems get along then asked line above without knowing Ena doesn't know anything...
(Event onward I gonna use Mizuki as "he" pronouns)
My Note : I think Mizuki taking it too far, from scenes I thought Ena just taken aback after heard wildest info. But not I blame them, they basically get bullies by most male because of it (yeah I think female one seems fine by it)
Then again I'm not trans/biseksual or something like that but if my friend telling me they're into those, maybe rather than shocked I would interview them like girl hearing juicy gossips and then fully support them (too bad the heaviest I heard so far just watching hent*i and BL together lol)
4-koma : here
Mentionable scene :
Scene where Kaito feels something off looking at Mizuki, he talks to Meiko, who seems know something. Hearing Kaito intent, Meiko try to stop him.
I kinda get those two clashes, especially Meiko come from Mizuki fragile feelings while Kaito come from Mafuyu anger.
Mizuki truth get reveal scene, Mizuki shocked after heard Ena know the truth. They can't handle the preseure because they think after that Ena will pretend nothing happens and doing works as usual.
After this scene, Mizuki doing monologue that they want to disappear and Mizuki convo on sekai alone is just their lament not telling her soon...
Song : Bake no Hana, I still not read all lyrics but I keep hearing words like kietai (wanna disappear), mo ii ya (whatever), kuzureru (ruined) plus the rythm feels scary too...
Rarity : 4* MizuEna + Kaito are the right choice, especially Mizuki maybe in the some future event couldn't receive any card
I've so many comment on this theme, like Mizuki card is one of scariest art Prosekai could release so far (for both type lol).
I kinda like how Prosekai handle Mizuki centric story, like even after you face the problem onward not everything ended well.
I already try 20 pull but of course my gacha ended like this event story goes on (lol)

Thoughts on Yugami-kun
Despite the overused theme, it's really rare to find a good high school slice-of-life (SOL) manga who has an actual flowing plot and timeline rather than the usual 4-komas or one stand-alone story format. They're not bad, but a 50-pages chapter consist of ordinary lifestyle is refreshing.
I want to gush about the greatness of this manga so beware, it's gonna be lengthy. It only contains minor spoiler either so for those who haven't read it, feel free to stop by.
To put it simply, the story is about Yugami Yuuji who claims he doesn't need friends, a transfer student Watanuki Chihiro who wants friends, and their mundane everyday life. That's it. The conflicts may emerge from the generic SOL formula (school life, after-school club, hanging out with friends, part time job, seeing fireworks, cultural festival, you get it), but details like these are what makes this series so endearing to me.
1) The realness of reality. (i suck with words gahh)
This is a character who's trying to get by on her first part-time job. There're no exaggerating mistakes like breaking 100 plates as a clumsy girl or superficial ability like serving brilliantly as an excellent girl on her first day. No. She's just an ordinary new girl, she's learning and she's struggling. She makes normal rookie errors, like being too glued on customer 1 so she ignored customer 2. And there's no super nice superior to cover her up either.
If you messed up, you messed up. You'll get chewed, you'll get critique and advises to improve yourself. It sucks and it shows. Jun Sakurai actually took his time to give insightful advice for this scene, unlike some SOL manga I've read who would explain it vaguely or skip it entirely so the character is getting away with a simple "You're an idiot, don't do this again." Those details added a layer of realness into the story. And there're more like this in the story.
Some people might find it boring on first glance but it's quite fun if you look into it as you're also learning new things.
2) As I said above, a flowing timeline.
Chihiro got transferred on her second year and the manga ends in graduation. There is the usual SOL plot formula and no time loop- that's the best part. The length is just perfect for me.
3) The characters, Oh My God. They're all wonderful.
Each has their own quirks, and yet they're so normal. What they stereotyped with doesn't necessarily define them. The simplest example would be this one.
Me before: Ahh. Y'see this flashy bad boy? He's bad news. I can smell his cliche upbringing with dark rich lonely fami-
Me after: ... Nvm. (fyi he's not the mc)
I could go on with each character's analysis because they're all great, but it'd take forever.
The point is, each character is portrayed as really human-ly. They have a good side, they have a bad side. They have good days, they have bad days. There're sides they can show, there're sides they want to hide. I can't put it enough into words but it's so good.
Oh, and the character development is amazing. Be it main or side character, everyone has it. Everyone grew up as a person. This manga shows human psychology and relationship as a whole. I want to further explain this point but I'm running out of gas.
And don't get me started on that SHIP TEASE. Yugami-kun is not a romance manga though, it's a comedy SOL manga (even though the majority of my posts are shipping material).
4) Oh, have I told you it has no fanservice? Huh. Must've slipped my mind.
What I explain above is just a little glimpse of the manga's greatness. It's long completed in Japan but it was finally finished translated in English. I feel really sad when it ends, it's like parting with your newfound best friend.
This manga is wholesome. If you haven't already, go read it.
Edit: I forgot to add that Jun Sakurai is a genius. I look forward for his next project.
#i don't even write about yugami the mc#and it already got this long#the heck#yugami kun ni wa tomodachi ga inai#yugami kun#manga#manga recomendation#slice of life#comedy#psychology#shounen#seinen
