Day 2: Time Loop

off string designs for visceral growths. puppets actually built for moving around!!!

myths is technically already an "off string model" so i won't draw her design :p but here's the others

since they can't function without their neurons they have tiny ones inside of their body!!! i could go on about the functions. thinking about this stuff is so interesting to me.

ok so uhm the main thing i had to keep in mind with their off string design was mobility. OBVIOUSLY. their legs are built the way they are for the sake of traversing through harsh, bumpy and uneven terrain (for a multitude of purposes. i think in general their ancients would just want them to be mobile for important meetings and even in case of emergencies! ancients thinking about the future that DOESN'T involve mass ascension ... unheard of) and have springs based off the "prototype"'s (myths.) feet to absorb impact when falling. fields especially has a special ability to jump higher from the added mechanisms he has in his legs :]

their feet are talon-like for the sake of grip and their legs are generally very agile despite their chunky design! with multiple joints that allow for flexibility. their hips are also built to allow their legs to stretch to the side and whatnot. they're just very flexible in general.

now for my favorite part!!! the jelly-like substance that each of their puppets has acts as their "blood". despite being considered iterator blood it isn't fluid, and is comparable to the texture of the silicone from a breast implant—doesn't spill, is a great regulator for heat, and prevents any possible damage to their innards !!! the ancients figured that they'd need their neurons to function properly sooo they just shrunk down copies of their data into tinier neurons and just. filled em up with them. the neurons float around freely inside of them.

i also think that their cores are somewhere inside their torsos like a real heart, protected by the silicone. they also have a bunch of wires and functions inside that require frequent coolant so they probably have a bottle for it somewhere along their back that can be taken out at any given moment.

i think that's all i have to ramble about so far. they're so neat and fun to think about and ough. they're just like their superstructures fr fr <333 I'll probably yap more later but for now that's all

um .. hiii i love ur art and writing so much and i jus. wanted u to know fallen gabe occupies my brain very often and i love the symbolism you use in a bit of your artwork, concepts and writing n its cool to see how much passion u put into everything :} i like hearing your understandings of the characters in their depth its really cool...

are there any little tidbits or scenarios youve thought of that you havent written about or shared yet, either deep or just fun and silly?

aaaaa thank you so much!!! i'm so happy you all give me the chance to express my thoughts and that you enjoy reading them even if i talk a whole lot.....i have definitely gotten very attached to this au and i'm glad you enjoy it with me, it's been so fun building it up and also getting to explain why make the choices i do (plus getting ideas from asks!!) also just so you know,,,,you have beautifully delicate work, it is so incredibly romantic in appearance and i absolutely love it ;o; it's so light and dreamy...i'm always amazed by how lovely it is!

as for other little scenarios, i have,,,,so many,,,,but i'll talk about a few of my faves!!

one scene i REALLY would like to draw out is raphael meeting with gabriel after he shows the councilor's head to heaven - raphael finds him before he leaves for hell and it's just...very quietly tragic, because the archangels in my headcanon are all connected, sharing in their souls and emotion. for gabriel's light to be ripped from him, for him to be bound for hell and surely for his death, is incredibly traumatizing for raphael, who will now also essentially be alone - michael left when god disappeared and uriel is in "meditation" (a coma really) so it's just been raphael and gabriel left, seeing each other in their brief times for rest (they all lived together - they would check on uriel before sitting together in the little time they had) they had drifted with all their duties, but they were forever bound as siblings and they took a lot of solace in each other's presence. at least that was constant. but now michael is gone, uriel won't wake up, and gabriel is dying. raphael is left as the last archangel standing and surely all of heaven will look to him for leadership. and gabriel knows he will be a good steward, not power hungry in the slightest. yet raphael is betrayed, hurt, he can't understand why this happened, why gabriel has to go now. there's so much to say and no time to say it. so ultimately raphael just embraces and blesses him (to gabriel's surprise given his slaughter of the council), telling him to take care even if there's no time left. i just. i love the archangels as a little sibling group that's fallen apart, yet there is still love in each of them ;~;

another scenario (or...set of vignettes i suppose) deal with v1's time before man's extinction, when it was still being tested in its facility. v1 was actually fairly "close" with the mechanics that repaired it and they got to know a lot of its idiosyncrasies (as well as v1 still using a lot of their vocabulary when it signs now) i have like. an entire silly scene where they wake it up for a little office party (NOT supposed to!!!!) and how v1 sometimes liked to "play hooky" from drills by pretending to be broken in some way (the mechanics got wise to it eventually, telling it that if it keeps that up they're gonna turn it back into scrap!!!) it didn't form any deep bonds with them like it might be able to now since it wasn't advanced enough then, but v1 remembers them fondly now that it has the capacity to. additionally, in that comic i made about meeting its makers in violence, i thought about including a little scene where one of the husks repairs some damage that had been done that blood couldn't heal and v1....sort of having a split-second of hesitation. because. that must be a mechanic. and in some way, it misses them. but really, all they want is for v1 to survive - that's why they would always fix it, even now.

OUGH also when v1 absolutely freaks out earlier on in its relationship with gabriel - i feel like i mentioned this at some point, but i really like the idea of gabriel becoming seriously injured in a fight with some demons/machines when he's adjusting to his fallen status, and in a panic v1 performs a blood transfusion. but. every single thing in its code screams at it not to, it has to bypass about a dozen security measures and shut down a decent portion of its functioning to allow itself to do so. but once it does, it realizes how off-programming the behavior was, to the point where it's convinced if it goes any further the corruption to its software will be so complete it risks fatal errors and brain death. so it bolts the minute gabriel comes to and it actually takes him about a week to find it again, absolutely terrified himself the entire time as he's not ready to lose v1 BUT ALSO significantly pissed off lol he's ready to give it plenty of shit upon reuniting with it, but with some explanation (as he REFUSES to let it run again), he comes to understand how serious this is...and just what v1 did for him in spite of all of its programming to the contrary.

THEN i just have a lot silly or cute things, like how v1 greatly enjoys bath time much to gabriel's surprise and often asks for "a wash" even when perfectly clean. i also KNOW i said this before, but v1 loves generating liminal pool rooms and impossible "animals" in its mind - it can spend HOURS doing this, and get VERY invested in it, but it didn't want gabe to be lonely so it made a "chatbot" to interact with him while it does this (v1 likes to call its internal bots "worker vee-s") he found it pretty funny since it was terrible, and quickly retired. oh oh and i also really like v1 and fallen gabriel staying with the ferryman for a bit when they don't yet have a place to live...and i talked about how the ferryman struggles accepting gabriel again, but i like to think gabriel still sings. he and v1 will snuggle in by the fire and he'll sing, just as beautiful as he did in haven even if it's now in the infernal language...and the ferryman will linger outside their door, listening to him sounding just the way he always has (they can get overwhelmed by it sometimes, but it helps when v1 cuts in with a midi remix lol) and finally since i've. gone on long enough. i know a lot of ppl do bird-coded gabe (rightfully so!!) but to me he is. sheep-coded. man will eat flowers right out of a window-box and headbutt as a primary way of attack. thank you.

13. What is something they find hot about their S/O?

Okay, I have mentioned this before quite a few times—both Miraak and Jia think of intelligence as a desirable trait, so they find it hot when they unfold their knowledge and intellect to one another, when they teach each other new things. I'd also say that Miraak (a little more than Jia here, even though she likes this too) is quite attracted to the display of power, so he rips his clothes apart enjoys it when Jia stops being a pathetic wet kitten full of fleas and allows her dragonfire to show. Especially for a person like her who keeps sabotaging her potential, it's somewhat of a double pleasure to Miraak when he finally sees it, her feral side covered in blood, totally unhinged...👀 Now, concerning their physical appearance, I believe that they are so ridiculously in love that every single thing on them has them like "!!!😍!!!", but if they had to choose, I'd say for Jia is Miraak's giant embrace where she loses herself as he spreads it around her, his deep voice, both when he sings and talks, and their height difference because she laughs when he tries to kiss her and bumps his mouth on her forehead. For Miraak, it's her freckles! He finds them both endearing and attractive since they're not only on her face but all over 👀other parts👀 he loves like the horny man he is, and we might see him tenderly draw constellations with his finger on them...😼

oh, sometimes Jia raises her eyelids very slowly when she looks up at him, and while it's a thing she does mostly unconsciously, Miraak finds it very very hot, too!

14. What is something they argue about constantly? Is it a deep-seated issue or something small?

OUGH, in the AU I'm preparing they argue constantly over everything—we will see them argue over small things and more serious issues (Miraak is usually the one who grates on Jia, and she pulls a Jamie "I'll slap you until your ears are red!" Fraser). In TPATD, however, their relationship hasn't had many tribulations (that I know of; they may decide to change that🤷), except for One Big Issue that will occur at some point and involves a deep-seated topic between them; this might be painful to be confronted with them...🥺

59. Is there a spot they tend to kiss or caress habitual?

For Jia, it would be Miraak's hands—his knuckles, palms, and wrists, and it matters that she kisses/caresses these spots habitually; in a future chapter, they will thoroughly discuss this...🥰

For Miraak, it'll be either her forehead, when it comes to a kiss, or her shoulder, for both when he caresses and kisses her. It's the spot he knows she is scarred by Alduin, a wound that although healed still bothers her with random pains and aches, and she's almost always sore there (to the point she has difficulty using a bow anymore). Also, it's a spot where she has a cluster of freckles so he can't really resist!

99. Who gives off "they said no pickles" energy?

AH, THIS QUESTION MADE ME GIGGLE.

Again, in the WIP AU, Jia is the one who gives off "he said no pickles" energy. She's Miraak's guardian angel, always has his back, and protects him while he's busy being pathetic, despite her being six/seven years younger than him. In the main fic, they are somewhat balanced and equal in that aspect, with Miraak giving off The Vibes and being Jia's angel a liiitle more, but just a tiny bit!

I'm using a controller for ultrakill, but after you said there's other switching options I did mess around with the remote and discovered going up on the d-pad switches weapons! I don't really use it, but I am getting better about weapon switching! And using the other weapons in general, so now my bigger problem tends to be accidentally switching to the railcannon instead of the shotgun and briefly wasting that shot!

I made it through act I! I'm very much just going all the way through with the intent of actually trying with challenges and secrets um. later. Much later. Gosh all these levels have such awesome designs, the lust and gluttony layers were amazing

Mindflayers are my greatest non-boss enemy, I really need to remember to use the red arm like the enemy menu recommends, I've purchased every weapon I can afford! All that's actually available that I don't have yet are two railcanons, I'm thinking of getting the screwdriver

The corpse of king minos was a cool fight! I did not realize that the large body I saw looking over the layer was going to attack me! I died an awful lot, but it wasn't the worst boss fight I've had, I kept trying to parry the snake attacks in the second phase fight but after I gave up on doing that and dodged it went more smoothly :>

Gabriel!! Gabriel beat the shit out of me! By alot! I had 60 restarts in 20 minutes! Easily the hardest and most frustrating boss ive faced so far! All the guides I could find in game said to remember his attack pattern, but ah,,, Gabriel is very fast and hits like a truck so only the knowledge of his attacks I managed to figure out was "I can probably dodge this one" and "I probably can't dodge this one" in the end I didn't learn anything to beat him so in the rematch I'm pretty sure exists I am absolutely screwed 😎👍

I ended up cheesing it because while jumping around I accidentally figured out that if you're standing next to the wall Gabriel actually keeps close to you, which makes attacking and getting blood much easier. Personally I prefer this over the proper fight because it feels like he's trying to pin me to the wall. I am tempted to draw Gabriel pinning V1 to the wall.

Man, the Gabriel fight is so so cool in game. Like??? Ough??? He tells you to turn back but There is no way to turn back all you CAN go is forward because your stuck going down and down and if you stop now there's no where to go and MAN. OH MAN. ITS SO??? It's so very cool and awesome that Gabriel is the first voice you ever really hear. The first one to speak to you. That's so wild. Imagine how V1 felt. Hearing an actual voice, after a journey filled with only screams and grunts and gunfire, to face silence in the layer of gluttony, expecting to hear the sounds of more enemies being summoned to the area, maybe to suddenly be attacked, only for a voice of all things to break the silence. Only to be spoken to

I do recommend the malicious railcannon over the screwdriver. I don't use it a whole lot personally and I haven't really met anyone else who does, though the malrail is also pretty easy to blow yourself up with so um. Scratching my Chin. Up to you on that one

I am glad you like it this much, I do genuinely think ultrakill is one of the best games ever made despite not even being finished . Might be a little bit biased. If you need help with anything I will be able to provide it ^_^

Would you like to share your thoughts on the bokuakakuroken dynamic?

OKAY so uhh it took me longer to get to this than anticipated. unfortunately i got this ask RIGHT before i started my shift, and its been ough, more than 12 hours since i ended my shift, which means my thoughts had so much time to change and morph

i will try to gather my thoughts into coherency fjakjbas (no promises tho,,), these arent all necessarily romantic, i think they CAN be! but i think if they are a polycule, theyre a friendgroup first?? idk, i think they are a mix of romantic, queerplatonic, friendship soup yknow??

but i really enjoy the subtle rivalry between akaashi and kenma on the court. It's not the overt goading and gloating that bokuto and kuro have with each other, but its there. And I adore it. Captains and setters mirroring each other... balance... in my brain. I think there is lots of team work OFF the court between kenma and akaashi too, especially when it comes to making fun of bokuto and kuroo. they have an understanding

i think bokuto and kenma are an interesting pair. in volleyball, bokuto is WAY TOO MUCH for kenma. he's loud and boisterous and greedy. he's like shouyou, kenma can't get away with anything. off the court, bokuto is STILL A LOT, but he also shows such *genuine* interest in kenma's interests, he's attentive and engaged. he also gets *way less* scandalized by nudity and gore in Kenma's more intense games. Kenma isnt great at explaining things, but bokutos go gettem attitude makes him a pretty fun player two

kuroo and akaashi... i thought about them a lot. to me, they are STEM and HUMANITIES solidarity. I'm going to tangent to curate the vibe~~.

The separation of stem and humanities is a fairly recent development in education/academia. in the european renaissance, art and science were so deeply interconnected. to be an artist you had to understand the natural world. it helped you greatly as a scientist if you could depict the world you saw. Leonardo da Vinci probably comes to mind, incredible artist and inventor. He stared at water for hours watching it ripple. He believed that if you were not outside drawing every second you could, you were hardly an artist at all (he was VERY hardcore, and VERY uhh.. most ppl didnt like him much. Same with michelangelo. Raphael was the renaissance's golden boy, it's why the pope was in close contact with him while he did the school of athens in his library while michelangelo was still waiting for a letter back from the pope about the sistine chapel (pope didnt wanna talk to him) none of this is relevant but i LOVE talking about this stuff. Bernini is my favorite, though he is Baroque/late renaissance rather than High Renaissance (after the mannerist movement!! very important distinction. (did you know there were TWO bernini's? Gianlorenzo's father, pietro would have been more famous if his son wasn't a prodigy. but he wasn't resentful, he ate up his son's skill, was very proud "i will be known as the father an mentor of the great gianlorenzo!" cute stuff) what number of parenthesis am i at? i think this is the last one)

i digress. I think of akaashi, a literature nerd, and kuroo, a science nerd. and I think of them appreciating that about each other. I like to think that if one of them has intense, burning thoughts about something that moves them, a passage written so beautifully, a chemical reaction so moving, they share with each other. both of them i think, share a certain appreciation for the beauty in the world, and can really appreciate the beauty that the other's perspective comes from. they bleed into each other, akaashi starts thinking more of the physical world, and kuroo, already a metaphorical savant (we are blood, anyone?) appreciates akaashi's musing (absolutely LAUGHED at him the first time Akaashi waxed poetic about bokuto though. They have solidarity but they still lowkey antagonize each other aksfjbaksjfbaskjfbakj)

i think ill cut my thoughts off here. ive really rambled and i think most of it wasn't STRICTLY about bokuakakuroken, but when i was thinking about them yesterday, this.. kinda was the deal. my thoughts can be really difficult to capture and tie down, theyre amorphous clouds that twist and change in hurricane winds so sometimes they just come out as "WAAHA CRYING SOBBINGS OUGH" because thats the only way i can get them out before they slip away
