So. Monster High now has officially four separate continuities for their characters (G1, G2, live action, G3). Well, what if you want to draw the ghouls meeting different versions of themselves? It's important that you can tell them apart easily - sure, the outfits help, but this is a fashion doll franchise; clothes are liable to change. So how can you make them different enough? Well, luckily I have a handy guide just for that!
Telling Apart the Ghouls Across the Generations: Frankie Stein
Generation 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- rounded jaw
- minty green complexion (verrs more towards turquoise in the anime artstyle)
- pin straight long hair, black and white, small portion tied up at the top, reaches mid-back
- scar running down the right cheek
- bolts on the neck
- she/her
Generation 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- slightly emaciated face
- pale green complexion
- hair has more volume, black and white, side swep bangs (except in the AotGS artstyle), reaches waist
- scar goes across the right cheek instead of down
- thicker bolts on the neck
- she/her
Live action
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- squared jaw
- greyish blue complexion
- shorter pin straight thin hair, balck and white with a singular blue streak, one side is braided and brushed back, reaches shoulders
- smaller scar on the right cheek
- no bolts on the neck, piercing on the left eyebrow
-they/them
Generation 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- squared jaw
- pastel blue complexion
- voluminous hair, black and white with multiple blue steaks, one side is shaved (only in cartoon series artstyle), reaches waist
- smaller scar on the right cheek
- no bolts on the neck, piercing on the left eyebrow
- left leg is metallic rather than organic
- they/them
Tune in next time for Draculaura!

Happy Glorious 25th of May. Thank you for getting me into the discworld books (at least in an indirect way). They have quickly become one of my favorite series of books, even if I've only read a handful of them. As for a question, what have been your biggest takeaways or lessons from the discworld books? Whether it be how you write, how you engage with stories, or even how you look at the world.
we got another one lads
It's a little hard to boil it down! The books cover so much ground, and I read them at such a formative age it's hard to tease out how much of me is made from them.
On the most basic level, I love how angry those books are. Every POV protagonist is seething at unfairness and injustice and this is never framed as a bad thing - just something that needs to be controlled, directed, weaponized.
I like that everything is a joke, but in-universe everybody is absolutely sincere. The characters are charicatures and punchlines because of their sincerely-held beliefs and ideals. Captain Carrot is shiny and literal-minded and perfection personified and it's funny because he really is that good. Nanny Ogg is an outrageously horny and boisterous old woman and it's funny because she's having such a good time with it, especially when contrasted with her stern and serious foil Granny Weatherwax, and it's funny because the two of them know each other incredibly well and deal with each other's eccentricities with the practice of decades. The dwarves are funny because they're goofy little guys with big beards that think about nothing but gold and new songs to sing about gold, and as the books go on, the complexities of a culture that looks like that punchline become the deepest and most fascinating element of the worldbuilding in the entire Disc. The world is mounted on the back of four elephants and we made a book called the Fifth Elephant, how wacky, hey let's casually integrate the worldbuilding consequences of massive deposits of perfectly-crisped organic matter caused by the collision of a planet-sized elephant with a planet-sized planet. The discworld tells a joke and then commits to the consequences with its entire ass, and I love that.
A lot of the characters are in some way one-of-a-kind and unprecedented, or at least appear to be on the surface because nobody like them has even been publicly known, and the stories frequently explore how these unique people navigate their existence without a roadmap and trailblaze the way for the people just like them to someday follow. People who break rules by existing and make the world question what purpose those rules serve if they aren't actually unyielding principles of reality. The dwarf gender cultural revolution, the female wizard, the golem given a voice, the entire existence of Susan Sto Helit. It produces a world that feels like it's absolutely full of protagonists, like every story is one-of-a-kind and every individual person matters and has the right to choose the way they want to live, no matter what anyone else thinks. can't believe some terfs really think these books are for them as if they aren't precision-built to tell them to go fuck themselves
The cast full of protagonists makes the crossover events a delight. All these characters existing in the same universe means they can just run into each other sometimes, and they're all such absolute weirdos that their interactions never fail to be absolutely incredible. The world feels very thoroughly lived-in, to the point where the stories sometimes almost feel like they're telling themselves.
they're just really fuckin good ok

Fuck it friday
tagged by @tizniz @jesuisici33 @daffi-990 @diazsdimples @wikiangela thank you<333 I missed my crossover fic so I wrote a little today. he is Jake and Buck's dynamic I can't wait to explore more cause I already love it way to much
“Jake, I don’t know about it,” but before Buck can continue to think of the reason why he can’t come to San-Diego, Jake already speaks.
“Listen here, Buckley. We have tried to get together for the last four years after I was in LA for three days to congratulate you on ending your probation year. I literally now live in the city in 3 hours drive from LA. And you died six months ago before it happened,” Jake is silent for a second, but Buck hears how he takes deep breath to take himself back together. Hearing how his death affected even his friends out of LA make him bite his lip so as not to cry. Painful reminder he should keep trying harder on therapy, should try to get better to help his family heal too. “So I’m not asking. You are bringing your pretty ass to San-Diego. I might even help to heal your heart after the recent break up with what is her name?”
“Natalia. And there’s nothing to heal,” Buck for a second considers if he should tell Jake the whole truth about the break up or not, but really he needs a friend and there is no one better to talk about Eddie because Jake is Buck’s only friend. Not Eddie’s found family too. “I broke up with her because I understood I’m in love with…” Buck takes a deep breath getting ready to say it for the first time to someone who is not Dr. Copeland, but Jake does it first.
“Eddie.”
The way the name of his best friend so easily slips from Jake’s mouth leaves Buck speechless with just one question which he almost scream.
“H-HOW?!”
“You talk about the guy all the time. You raise his, no, not his, his and yours  son together. You talk about him like he put the sun, moon and stars in the sky. It was so easy,”Buck hears how Jake rolls his beautiful green eyes and he hopes the man feels how he shows him finger. “Do not show me finger, sweetheart. You know I’m right. I’m more shocked no one called you on this definitely not little crush on your hot bestie before me. And they see you two together.”
“Like no one calls you on your homoerotic comments about Rooster? Or how now do you want dick measure with the man not in figurative but real meaning?” Buck smirks when he hears how Jake tries to say something to deny it, but fails.
“How?”
Grinning, Buck takes a deep breath and perfectly repeating Jack's intonation begins to quote.
“Oh, Buck, Rooster is so cocky I hate his guts. Oh, Buck, this man irritates me so much I want to send him on fire. Buck, I saved this asshole today and we shook hands and I think we are going to be friends soon. Sweetheart, you will not believe who asked me about beer in Hard Deck without the team. Fuck, Buck Rooster abs somehow better than mine and it’s… irritates me so much,” Buck laughs remembering how the last part was said more like I-want-to-fuck-him and not this-guy-is-hotter-than-me-and-I'm-jealous. Buck knows the difference too well. He was friends with it for a moment. “I always feel like you would jump his bones the next time you see the man.”
“Said you”
“Touche.”

Crossover Question: If Dr.Octopus was in a Marvel vs Capcom game and had to make his own Sinister 6 with capcom villains, who do you think he would choose/who would you choose?
Traditionally the Sinister Six tend to comprise villains covering a wide range of types of threats Spider-Man goes up against, and they also can't be too big as individual villains otherwise because they're all supposed to be operating under at least one leader, usually Doc Ock, which is why you hardly ever seen Green Goblin or Kingpin in the Six unless they're the ones leading it instead. Trying to be as widespread as possible, here goes my picks counter clock-wise:
Tumblr media
Vile: We need a Mega Man baddie, he's one of the most visually iconic of the bunch, he's traditionally Sigma's underling but we're not exactly trying to make iron-clad justifications for these. I think we could also argue that Doc Ock did some tampering with his circuits to win his loyalty or is promising him something in return so that he at least goes along with the plan before backstabbing them. Think he works nicely to fill that role filled in by Scorpion or Kraven, someone who is vile or dangerous or scummy even by the standards of the group, someone who helps keep the Sinister Six a oh-shit escalation of threat whenever it shows.
Abigail/Mech-Zangief: We need a Street Fighter character, we need dumb muscle, and we need at least one comic relief guy. The Sinister Six doesn't feel right without Rhino, so I'm elevating either one of these. Abigail is technically reformed but he's not exactly a "good guy", he's a disgruntled taxpayer trying to make ends meet who turns into a destructive rampaging beast at a moment's notice, which is Spider-Man villain territory already. I think we could include him or Mech-Zangief, as a way for Zangief to be in the team in spirit, a tribute to his kayfabe fame as a videogame bad guy that got him the spot in Wreck-It-Ralph's meeting.
Gran Bruce: We need at least one animal costume guy, a Spider-Man villain gathering is not complete without one, and it's good to have at least one guy who's kinda dumb and funny and not really much a threat until he might inexplicably be, sort of the Shocker of the group. I'm not too big on Viewtiful Joe and I could give or take this pick but he's a shark guy, that wins points with me.
Hanbei Takenaka: I think we need one villain who doesn't really fit the line-up, more of a handsome guy than a monster, someone who is bringing extra brains or tactics or weapons to the equation besides what Doc Ock brings. I almost included Vega for this reason but he's too specialized and we already have a major clawed villain, so instead this guy seems to be an interesting fit for contrast, like Martin Li or Hickman's Ultimate Black Cat.
Lady Dimitrescu: We need one Resident Evil villain and at least one more iconic villain besides Vile, and yes I know she is already fanatically loyal to another villain and already has a group, I know, but again, refer to Vile's section, these games don't exactly work on iron-clad character pairings, and if there's a character we need in a Marvel vs Capcom game stat it's her. She just feels right at home in a rogues gallery line-up (the Four Lords are such wonderful villains, they feel like characters you could throw into any series and have it work), and like Vile we need some actually dangerous villains and some villains who don't play nice and threaten to break the group of tiny pathetic stupid man-things beneath her, and she breaks away from the technological aspect by being a biological monster which is, again, definitely ground that needs to be covered. Out of everyone here, she's the one who I could most easily see actually fighting Spider-Man, joining the club of baddies who want to psychosexually tear him limb from limb. Only marginally less horny than Venom's whole deal.
Definitely taking suggestions on what other line-ups could be used for a Capcom Sinister Six, and which Capcom baddies could join.

thank you SO much @missjessefantastico for the tag <3 ALSO EVERYONE READ THIS SERIES ABOUT VAMP WILLOW, THE UNDERRATED HYENA KIDS, & MORE!!! It's so good btvs fans who love underexplored ideas & characters pspspsps
20 Questions For Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 19
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 3,027,073
3. What fandoms do you write for? It's been Avatar the Last Airbender for the past few years. I have an old & probably not-good Rick & Morty fic up. Before that, I had some IT fics. I've got an orphaned fic for scream & one for house of 1000 corpses.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
the benefits of getting a flat tire this is Zuko running away from home & running right into the gaang - also uncovering some family mysteries & reconciling with Azula. modern au. it's Zukka & aw I'm nostalgic for those early days of mine in the fandom
if this were a movie this is basically an ATLA Hollywood Au. Zukka & Azutara. Past Jetko. I was happy with some of the dramatic moments in this fic.
not another high school au lord help me lmao. I'm SO sorry if you are reading this & you happen to love this fic but it's not the thing I'm most proud of. this is basically just me dipping my toes into writing ATLA modern AUs & in that sense I guess it's nostalgic? this is the fic I wrote as a newbie to the fandom just trying it out & I still do lovingly appreciate everyone who was kind & welcoming in those early days!
six feet under ATLA TVD AU MY BELOVED OMG. this is a vampire diaries au. there are no 1:1 translations but azula is damon, katara is a mix of jeremy & elena & so is sokka, zuko is stefan & YEAH. also aang is bonnie & iirc I probably even gave toph something fun to do. ozai is Katherine which is forever hilarious to me. yeah, this was a fun fic.
5. in search of glorious happenings of happenstance this fic is about nothing & everything at the same time. atla/modern world fusion with the four nations existing but also it's modern. all the atla teens/kids are going to college at ember island university & the fic takes place across a year. it's slice of life, comedy, drama, & chaos. lots of ships but I think azutara & jet/zuko/jin are probably, at the end of the day, the romances that are at the heart of this story although platonic relationships are also pretty important in this fic, IMO as much as romances. it's probably my magnum opus or something.
Do you respond to comments? yes <3 I am sometimes slow & I am not perfect but I TREASURE comments & do attempt to let people know as much. I write for myself, I post for the connections I make along the way.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? the devil you know for sure. this is my atla/scream modern au. I talk about it constantly because I'm so insanely proud of it but if you don't know it's exactly what it sounds like. it's horror & tragedy that I feel really proud of & I do think those elements are at the heart of my writing passion despite me usually being a bit nervous about using them. so. I'm proud of this fic. & it has a very bittersweet ending but the tragedy is...there's a lot of tragedy. no more spoilers because I want people to read this!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? most of my fics have decently happy endings despite me claiming to prefer tragedy lol. I seem to recall the things we leave behind (mailee youtuber au with jetko & auztara. & they were roommates!) having a tooth rottingly fluffy ending lol
8. Do you get hate on fics? not really. it's happened before but it's not a big thing.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? sometimes I write the smutty scenes from my fics then save it only for myself. no you can't see. it's probably terrible. there's some shitty zucest smut of mine out there somewhere but I'm not sure it's any good & couldn't tell you where to find it lol
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I think the AUs I write are called "fusion" because it's more "inserting characters into another world & the characters of that world aren't a thing." but my fic the balance of things was actually a crossover with characters from both wizards of waverly place & atla interacting. also I wrote THIS one-shot that's a crossover between the game the coffin of andy & leyley & the show wizards of waverly place. I didn't post it on ao3 but I'm just saying.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?  I don't think so?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have vague memories of doing this with this girl I was online friends with back in my fanfic.net days, years ago. I think it was Destiel.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? to write? I don't have one right now. I think maybe I got kinda burnt out on everything having to be about one ship or whatever rather than just telling the story & maybe that's a small part of why I'm taking a temporary break from fic writing & focusing on an original story so I'm not staying within fandom approved in parameters & I can just do whatever feels right ya know? I like Cisne's answer about any willow ship tho. me with my faves tbh hehe
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? can't think of one but I can think of fanfic ideas I'd like to return to & fully realize after I get back in the mood
16. What are your writing strengths? I like to think I'm okay at characterization although moving away from fanfic & working on something original has me questioning myself constantly!
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm very lazy & often neglect research. sometimes if I don't know how to explain something I just change the whole scene so i don't have to bother.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? could be neat in the right context!
19. First fandom you wrote for? probably family guy lmao
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? maybe 'in search of glorious happenings of happenstance.' I think 'the devil you know' is objectively the strongest. but happenstance is just such a specific version of the characters that's fun to me? it's one of those two that's my favorite, depending on my mood
this is very long so these tags have even less pressure than usual:
@reythespacebae @theowritesfiction @imaslowlearner-butilearn @chasingfictions @hello-nichya-here @matchamarshmallow @akiizayoi4869 @dont-leafmealone @peony-pearl @lunaintheskyforever

Worlds Collide: The Milestone Side, Month 1 (July 1994)
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We now have a newsletter! It's the exact same thing as this blog, but in email form. You can subscribe for free at: https://buttondown.email/superman86to99 (make sure to check your spam folder for the confirmation email) More details in an upcoming post!
"Worlds Collide" was pretty unusual for a Superman-related crossover event: it only included one of the four main Superman titles (plus two spin-offs), it happened right in the middle of another Super-storyline ("The Fall of Metropolis"), and it came out right before another crossover event involving alternate worl-- sorry, "timelines" (Zero Hour) but had absolutely no connection to it.
The basic idea is that Superman, Superboy, and Steel meet the characters of Milestone Comics' Dakotaverse thanks to a mailman who switches universes whenever he goes to sleep. However, at least in this first month, the Milestone side seems way more into the crossover than the DC one -- their issues are completely devoted to the event, while the Super Titles have a ton of other plotlines going on. (Then again, they always had a ton of other plotlines going on in this era.) In an effort to help our readers understand what the hell's going in the Superman issues when we cover them, here's what happened in the Milestone ones:
Static #13
This issue isn't technically part of the crossover (it's from the month before it started) but it does show the other side of the scene from Man of Steel #35 when Fred Bentson, the aforementioned superpowered mailman, unwittingly switches universes in the nude and runs into the Dakotaverse's most famous inhabitant, Static.
Tumblr media
Fred tries to steal Static's flying disk (or "Static Saucer," as they called it in the Static Shock cartoon) to take it back to Metropolis as proof that he isn't just dreaming the Dakotaverse. He doesn't succeed and runs off, leaving Static like "eh, probably just some nut and not something that will end up putting the existence of multiple universes in jeopardy..."
Hardware #17
This issue reveals Fred's other superpower: picking the worst possible sleep clinic in every reality. We already saw him going into a super shady Metropolis-based one in Man of Steel, and this issue shows that he also went into one owned by Edwin Alva, Milestone Comics' foremost unscrupulous businessman (and the boss of this comic's titular character). Alva wants to exploit Fred's reality-hopping powers, so he orders Hardware to go into the DC Universe with him in order to find out how they work.
Hardware obeys and finds himself teleported into the middle of Metropolis, which is in such poor shape after the events of Action #700 that he initially mistakes it for Detroit.
Tumblr media
After saving a woman from some bizarre would-be rapists (that you'd never see in a Superman comic), Hardware suddenly sees Superman's Pal, Steel, looking at him from the other side of a mirror. Both are big black dudes who used their super-smarts to build themselves badass robotic armors, so I can't blame the universe(s) for getting them mixed up. Steel breaks the mirror from the other side with his hammer, causing Hardware to fall into a nightmare where people from his life call him a sellout and a terrible person.
Hardware wakes up back in the city of Dakota, and it turns out the only thing he managed to bring from the other universe is an issue of the Daily Planet... which is still enough to convince Alva that he can use Fred to conquer two worlds.
Icon #11
Superboy #6 (which we'll cover in the usual Super Titles Round-Up post) ends with Fred accidentally taking Superboy into Dakota. Icon himself, who is pretty much the Dakotaverse's Superman, barely appears in this issue, but that's fine with Superboy because he gets to meet, and be a perv towards, his sidekick Rocket.
Tumblr media
This is the issue where Fred realizes he can create beings with the power of his imagination, which is bad news for everyone around him because he's an anxious little fella. Fred starts bringing his biggest fears to life: first, an army of IRS auditors who look like Superman's enemy the Parasite (who attacked him in Superboy #6)...
Tumblr media
...and then, a building-sized version of his Fifth Grade bully. The young heroes put aside their differences to defeat the big bully in the most appropriate way they can think of: Superboy uses his tactile telekinesis to drop his pants, and then Rocket pushes him down while he's distracted.
Superboy, Rocket, and Icon (who finally decides to show up for his own comic) take Fred back to Alva's sleep clinic for further study. At Alva's, Superboy tries to hit on Rocket again, but she freaks him out by simply being a pregnant teenage superheroine, something that can't exist in the DCU.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, and this leads to an important event in Superboy's life that I'm surprised didn't happen in his own comic: the moment he realizes he has no bully button.
Anyway, Alva gets Fred to teleport himself and Superboy back to Metropolis by asking him to imagine himself "as a bridge between worlds." This works a little too well, since not only does Fred jump universes again, but he also creates a literal bridge between them...
Blood Syndicate #16
The bridge scene is repeated from different perspectives in Steel #6 and in this series, which follows a bunch of gang members who get superpowers after the police throw radioactive tear gas at them. As a result of that incident, known as the "Big Bang," half of the bridge connecting Dakota with the gang-ridden Paris Island was blown off -- which is pretty convenient for this crossover, because Metropolis also has a half-blown-off bridge, courtesy of a fight between Superboy and Spider-Man But Evil during "Reign of the Supermen."
Now Fred has merged both half-bridges into one interdimensional bridge connecting both universes, which is very confusing to the Blood Syndicate gang (for once, when I call a group of superheroes a "gang" I mean that literally). It gets even more confusing once they cross the bridge, thinking the bombed-out Metropolis is Dakota, and hear people talking about Superman. You know, from TV! Wait, does this mean the Blood Syndicate watches Lois & Clark?
Tumblr media
Then they run into Superman and assume he must be some insane "Bang Baby" doing cosplay, while he assumes they must be working for Luthor. It doesn't help that they're quite rude towards him and drop swear words no one in the DCU has probably heard before. The issue ends with the whole gang about to attack Superman while one of them, a talking dog called Dogg, says "Yo, Superman, where's Krypto?" (SPOILERS: In Superboy #6, with Bibbo.)
Tumblr media
Worlds Collide #1
This one-shot brings all the characters together as we transition from the "meet and fight" to the "team up to face the greater threat" part of the story. Fred finds himself back in Dakota and runs into a bunch of high school kids who are working on their own comic book. When Fred looks at one of the pages of the comic without meaning to, he summons its equally destructive hero and villain into existence.
One of those comic nerds happens to be Static in his secret identity, so he gets to work on stopping the runaway characters and soon bumps heads with Superboy as he's trying to do the same thing.
Tumblr media
At this point, Fred starts enjoying his powers a little too much and adds his own childhood comic book creations to the mix, all of whom look like him but with way more muscles. Things get really chaotic, and this is when we learn that Static actually reads Superboy's comic -- though I'm confused by his mention of the "no belly button" thing. Does this mean Static read Icon #11 up there? My head hurts.
Tumblr media
Rocket also drops by to help, and there's a bit about Superboy panicking when he realizes that she, a jacket-wearing teenager with "kinetic energy" powers who works with an iconic superhero, is his Dakotaverse counterpart. This reminded me of Magdalene Visaggio and Darick Robertson's Superboy pitch in which Conner Kent transitions into Connie Kent and becomes a superheroine called Skyrocket -- if DC hadn't rejected the idea, they could have used this scene as foreshadowing. (I asked Visaggio on BlueSky if she knew about the Superboy/Rocket thing when she picked the name Skyrocket and she said "Nope!")
At one point, Fred merges with all of his creations and becomes a super-jacked gunslinger with wheels for feet. When Superboy makes the mistake of criticizing his fashion sense, we learn the ultimate source of Fred's trauma: Adam West's Batman.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Fred's body is also at the sleep clinic in Metropolis and somehow at Alva's lab at the same time, and both places are trying to pull him to their side in order to exploit his powers. The process tears Fred apart, both physically and psychologically -- leaving in his place a giant, all-powerful, scary-looking being calling himself RIFT. He even does the "Fred Bentson is no more!" thing, so you know shit's getting real.
As for Superman, he's losing his patience with the Blood Syndicate, especially after they dare to mess with the hair.
Tumblr media
After some more fighting, Superman finally convinces them that this isn't Dakota, it really is Metropolis from the comics. They're like "ah, okay, not our problem then" and head back to Paris Island... just as Rift grows so large that he's able to pick up the entire island and throw it in the ocean, creating a massive tsunami wave that seems to be about to wipe out what's left of Metropolis.
NEXT IN "WORLDS COLLIDE": Shit gets even more real! (But not real enough to impact the other Superman titles.)

20 questions for writers
thank you @triggerlil for the tag!! <3 i'm so late omg but this was FUN, first tag game i've done that's more author than writing snippet/drabble related :-)
tagging @air-exec, @counting0nit, @don-humes-tiny-shorts, @eternallytired17, @hauntingcontradiction
@nicijones, @bucking-mustangs-with-wings, @swifty-fox, @mangokittokatsu, anyone else who wants to! i love reading tag games like these, it's nice to learn more about the ppl behind all the brainrot :')
questions & answers below the cut! x
how many works do you have on ao3?
12!
what's your total ao3 word count? 50,182 wtf i only made my ao3 in january lol
what fandoms do you write for?
i've written for lotssss over the past decade, but my current ao3 is just saltburn and masters of the air fics :-) for the sake of this tag i'm just gonna stick to my mota fics in my answers tho since yk. mota blog lol
top 5 fics by kudos?
i don't wanna be alone tonight – buckbucky breathe me in (exhale slow) – buckbucky you're a dog (i'm your man) – buckbucky you put your arms around me (and i'm home) – buckbucky four–by–four – buckbucky
do you respond to comments?
every single one <33 i take a long while sometimes because i get too lost in the actual writing or i get overwhelmed by the kindness lol but i always always respond eventually :')
what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
definitely i see you in the daytime (i hear you at night), my first fic for masters of the air actually that spawned as a way to vent my feelings after the dreaded third episode lmaoo </3 thought that would get those boys out of my system, and i couldn't be happier to have been more wrong <3
what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
ruh roh this kinda made me realize all my fics have some sorta melancholy/bittersweet ending even when they're hopeful... yad(iym) is gonna fix me fr (i think). but i guess the fuse to my fire since curt lives and the three of them are curtbuckbuckying indefinitely <3
do you get hate on fics?
i have in past fandoms but not here thankfully bc i am sensitive LOL. i've had weirdo anons that bitch about john bottoming (and i don't think those people realize it makes me inclined to write even more sub and/or bottom john to be petty SJGDK) but i wouldn't consider that hate, just bad fandom etiquette ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
do you write smut?
YEAHHH BABY <3 that's like. 99% of my drabbles/brainrot posts here and it takes serious self control to not just constantly write pwp oneshots, it's too much fun!! finding the balance in my chaptered fic for how much nsfw is too much is such a journey too lol, i wanna cram a spicy scene into every chapter but the part of me that adores slowburn over any other trope reins the gay brain in </3
craziest crossover?
haven't written any as of yet, but i do have my leaving!bikeriders au that i'm hoping to turn into a chaptered fic this summer, and that's exactly what it sounds like– buckbucky, but yank parts of callum's character from the leaving series and parts of austin's character from the bikeriders to create a buckbucky modern au. :-)
have you ever had a fic stolen?
i'm sure back in the wattpad days of the early '10s lol but none that i specifically remember!
have you ever had a fic translated?
in past fandoms!
have you ever co-written a fic before?
perhaps @curtsbigspoon and i cooked up like. 15k words of buckbucky thigh fucking etc months ago that i just need to get around to cutting down/editing >:-)
all time favorite ship?
i mean for me it's always a ship from whatever media i'm fixating on, so right now any variations of curtbuckbucky and cattonquick are everything to me <3 but in terms of ships that'll always have my heart, i can't ever let go of drarry, pricefield, clexa/murphamy, sciles/sterek– any from media i consumed during formative teenage years lol. but i will say i have never created anywhere near as much content for any other fandom as i have for mota :')
what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
for once i actually have none that i see myself abandoning! i would notoriously abandon wips in past fandoms and probably would still, but guess who finally got on adhd meds last month after years of waiting? this guyyyy. i can start projects... and enjoy them the whole way through... and not get frustrated and trash them... who am i
i mean tbf i have at least a dozen wips that i've gotten either a few paras or few thousand words into lol but then a new shiny idea grabs my attention, but i do think i'll end up finishing most if not all of them off eventually! once i've invested enough time/words into a wip, i feel way more motivated to finish it so i'm not 'wasting' my efforts.
what are your writing strengths?
i feel most confident when i'm writing dialogue over anything else. writing conversation–heavy scenes or just straight up porn is when i overthink the least lmaoo
what are your writing weaknesses?
oh god, definitely having to spell out what's going on in a character's mind. like, i know what they're thinking as i'm writing out scenes; i can feel their emotions and all. i just have such a hard time putting it into words in a way that doesn't feel too obvious/overstated, if that makes sense. i very much prefer to show rather than tell their emotions, but sometimes it's hard to get that right, and i agonize over solo scenes the most, when i can't show what a character is feeling by way of verbal conversation with another character.
thoughts on dialogue in another language?
no specific opinion! sometimes it's cool to read/write, mostly i don't really have an opinion one way or another :-)
first fandom you wrote in?
lmfaooo i'm pretty sure it was either for olddd youtube ships or frerard ngl. not sure which came first bc i wrote so much at once
favorite fic you've written?
you're a dog (i'm your man) has been such a labour of love for me because i care so much about doing it justice :') so maybe that one, but if unfinished fics don't count, i actually wrote breathe me in (exhale slow) in one rushed four–ish hour sitting and was kinda neutral on it until i got a completely unexpected burst of kind and beautifully worded responses, and then i felt a tiny bit proud <3

In this chapter: Precision mycology, Kane faces his fears
***
When Kane and Valen are ready to go, Liz is the one who drives them to the house on human territory Valen owns–she's the one with a truck to carry anything Valen wants to take, and the plan is for them to go back to vampire territory after, and Jim is too scared to drive to the border, though he tells them anxiously to be safe. They arrive at Valen's house without issue.
Valen morosely walks up the driveway to his abandoned house. He pauses in front of his ill-fated car, up on four cinder blocks.
"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that someone stole my tires." He sighs. "Liz, ma'am, I hate to drag things out, but seeing as how I'll be unable to offer to drive us to the border myself, I must now reveal the unfortunate fact that the ingredients I had intended to gather need to be harvested during the day. Would you be willing to wait until sunrise, and help me collect them?"
"Yeah, no problem," Liz agrees. She keeps weird hours anyway.
Kane eyes the abandoned house with the broken windows that will surely stream in sunlight. "We're staying in there? During the day?"
"Kane, dear, unless someone has ripped them down, I have blackout curtains set up in every room except for the broken kitchen window. I lived here for months being active during the day without incident."
"Okay... yes, that makes sense," he agrees, nodding slowly. "So we'll wait here while Liz collects the mushrooms? What if- what if other humans see us?" Kane is a fountain of nerves.
Valen hesitates. Oh, this is going to be a very hard sell. "Well...I was planning on going with Liz. It really would be safest for the three of us to stay together, to avoid incident with my dreadful neighbors. I have an outfit that protects me from the sun. I should have enough pieces to put one together for you also."
Kane chokes. "You what? You want us to go out there? In the sun?" He quickly realizes his only other option is staying back here, alone in human territory during the day, and begins to tear up from stress.
Liz looks away awkwardly, not wanting to get involved in their issue.
Valen takes both of Kane's hands. "Kane, dear, going out in the sun while covered up is much different than being held down and forced to lie in it with no protection. The worst that would happen is you get burned briefly before you can move to cover yourself, if there's an accident somehow. It wouldn't be for days on end. Just a few seconds, if anything happens at all. I did this regularly and only got hurt because I was alone. I certainly won't make you go, but this will go much faster if I'm with Liz to help, and I worry it might be more dangerous to leave you here alone."
Kane squeezes Valen's hands, not wanting him to let go. "I can't- I can't go out there, I can't go out there in the sun, and, and I can't s-stay here alone." He starts crying a little bit. "I'm scared."
"All right, that's all right. Eem..." Valen looks hesitantly at Liz. "What if you and Liz stay here, and I go alone?" Valen is scared to be out on his own, but he's well on his way to being back to full strength, and he has persuasion, which Kane doesn't have, so it would be safer for him to be alone than Kane. But he's also worried that Kane won't feel safe alone with Liz either.
"NO!" Kane wraps his arms around Valen, holding him close. "I don't want you out there alone! That's even worse!" He shivers, holding Valen, and quietly adds, "...I'll go.”
"Valen's right, it's safer if we don't split up." Liz agrees.
"Kane, are you sure?" asks Valen, exasperated. "You're shaking like a leaf. I suppose I could just give Liz as specific directions as possible, or go without."
"It's- it's all scary. All of the options." Kane says miserably. "We should just go together. If you're doing it, I can do it too. Being found on our own would be worse than being burned." He forces a smile. "But you can show me your house in the meantime!"
"Thank you for being so brave for me!" Valen knows that Liz is not a fan of Kane, and is probably getting tired of watching Valen trying to soothe him, so he leads them into the house.
The door is unlocked, so Valen expects most of his more valuable possessions will be gone....he did have a stash of money and jewelry, which was hidden, but maybe not enough to thwart burglars who'd had months at a time.
The first thing everyone notices is the smell, something rotting. It's overwhelming for Kane and Valen, but even Liz's insensitive nose can smell it. The second thing is the explanation: the power is off.
"Ouh," says Valen. "Yes, I suppose nobody was paying my electricity bill. I'll probably have to sell this house eventually....I don't suppose you, Liz, or Jim would want it?" He moves into the kitchen, cautiously approaching the fridge, the source of the smell. "Oh, oh dear."
He opens the fridge to reveal the bottles of not-blood with matts of mold blooming in them
Liz can definitely smell it too, and makes a face. Kane covers his nose, looking like he's trying not to barf.
"Yeah, I'll pass," Liz says. "It's kinda out of the way. Already got a house."
"Is that the blood?" Kane asks. "It's not supposed to be like that, right?"
"Ehm," says Valen. "No, it's typically much less foul than this...I wonder how long the refrigerator has been without power."
He starts to take out the bottles and uncork them, pouring them down the sink with plenty of running water. The sight is almost as bad as the smell, slimy bits of black and green being pulled along in the stream. "I do regret that we can't call Jim and tell him we arrived safely. Liz, if you wanted to assure him, you could probably ask a neighbor to use their phone, but I'm certainly not going to speak to them again."
"It's cool. Probably best to avoid 'em. Lemme help." Liz starts dumping more bottles. Valen is relieved when Liz starts to help, and he abandons her to finish the task as soon as is possible without being overtly impolite. He thinks that this is fair since Liz's nose isn't as sensitive as his.
Kane looks around in the meantime. "You have a lot of books. I guess that's not surprising." He smiles. "I like to read, too. Maybe I'll get into your science books."
Valen excitedly comes over to Kane. "You're welcome to read whichever ones you like." He starts picking books off the shelf seemingly at random, giving contextless facts about each.
There isn't really much else to see in the house, besides the books and the bare mattress he'd been sleeping on, and his clothes, so he flips the basement light on and descends the stairs.
"The equipment I was using is all down here." It's mostly still there, if a bit dusty. "This is probably all I would really want to take with me besides the books. Oh, hold on, I should check something."
He goes under the stairs and moves one of the wooden boards aside. "Aha," he says, pulling out a small lockbox. "I see no one found my valuables. Good."
Kane looks curiously to the equipment. He doesn't really understand what most of it is, though he imagines Valen tirelessly working on his project down here. "You were just out here in human territory, doing this. All alone."
Valen flushes red. "Um, yes. In retrospect, it was... reckless and foolish of me to do so. I suppose I didn't fully understand the danger I was in. I had the conception of humans as too small and weak to be a real threat to me, a helpless animal that needed my charity and not... people capable of being driven to violence by fear."
"Me too, but without the charity, so you win." Kane takes his hand. "You won't be alone anymore."
Valen beams. "And finally someone to tell me the truth about how they taste. The–the concoctions!" he rushes to add. "Not–not any humans."
Kane smiles and kisses him on the cheek.
His good mood slowly dissipates as sunrise grows closer and closer. He keeps anxiously fiddling with his clothes, and won't get more than a few feet from Valen, following him around like a shadow.
Valen notes the impending sunrise as well, and throws open the downstairs closet, forming a pile of garments behind him. "All right, Kane, come here and I shall firmly wrap you up."
He puts an overcoat on Kane, followed by a second pair of pants, mid-calf boots, long gloves, and a hooded cloak. He packed plenty of backups, not wishing at all to be caught without such items.
He then hands Kane a mask. This one was his backup mask, but it's perfectly functional. It looks like a gas mask and has tinted lenses to block out the sun. He straps the mask over the cowl of the cloak, then for good measure gets a roll of duct tape and tapes the edges of the outfit shut, the pants and sleeves and the hood, so there is not a scrap of skin exposed.
He steps back to survey his work. "There, how does that feel?"
Kane stands rigid as Valen securely covers every inch of him. He's spent so long forcefully exposed. The hunters taking away his articles of clothing one-by-one, Nick forcing him into nudity time and time again. But Valen is the opposite. Valen made him clothing by hand, and now he's painstakingly covering him up to make sure he's safe. He tears up a little under the mask, emotional.
"It feels good," he says, a little choked up. "Thank you. I... I don't think I can feel safe going out in the sun, but this is as safe as I can possibly get. Thank you."
Valen smiles, then starts wrapping himself up the same way. His mask has a beak–he chose this one because it had room to put scented objects in front of his nose, to stop him from smelling humans...he hadn't trusted himself before, to smell them when he was hungry, although blocking that out is probably exactly what got him captured by surprise.
He also just likes the aesthetic of looking like a plague doctor.
Valen and Kane look at each other through their frosted lenses, both barely recognizable to the other. "Are you ready?" asks Valen. His voice reverberates in his mask now. "The sun is coming up."
Kane goes “Mmm” noncommittally, clinging to Valen's arm as they rejoin Liz.
"Let's get this show on the road," Liz says. "I figure we can take the truck, unless it's super close? You can navigate me."
"Oh, I always just ran there." He politely declines to point out that Liz is the reason why he couldn't do that now. "But the truck would probably be safer. I usually went through the woods, but I'm sure we can find a spot to park near the trail."
"Sounds good," she says with a thumbs-up. "Everybody in." She heads out the door.
Kane does not move, holding Valen’s arm in a death grip.
Valen steps forward a bit. "One step at a time now. The porch is in the shade. How about we start by going out the door?"
"Okay," Kane says quietly. He shuffles forward with Valen until they're both on the shaded porch, involuntarily letting out a whimper.
"Is me being here making it better or worse?" Liz asks. She's still bitter toward Kane, but she doesn't wanna impede anything if getting in the truck would make it easier.
Kane squints through the mask. "Um, worse. I'm s-sorry." Having a hunter here during something so stressful is making him even more afraid.
She nods. "I'll wait in the truck."
"Sorry," he whispers again, to Valen.
"It's okay," Valen whispers back. "We have plenty of time." Valen watches Liz get into the truck, then pulls Kane towards the edge of the sunlight. "Let's just start by putting one hand in, hmm?"
Valen goes to reach his arm out, but finds his limbs are trembling. He'd been trying to be brave for Kane, but he is also more scared than he'd like to admit. He's done this before, but ... that was before he'd known what the sun felt like, and been forced to lie in it.
Kane can't be brave if he sees you're scared. Valen does his best to suppress the trembling, and sticks his be-gloved hand into the sun. It doesn't burn, of course it doesn't, because they'd taken precautions. "See? It doesn't hurt."
Kane nods and slowly sticks his hand out. He gets it about halfway into the sun, then gasps, pulling it back. "Sorry. I'm sorry. I'm not burned. I just got scared." He does the same thing a second time, then finally puts his hand all the way out and keeps it there, breathing heavily.
"There we go," says Valen. "Very good." He takes his hand and turns around, stepping into the sunlight so he can pull Kane forward slowly. ...Ripping the bandaid off quickly for himself definitely makes him feel better, and he can feel the warmth, but he is bundled up airtight. "Come forward more when you're ready."
Kane stares at Valen in awe for a moment. He just stepped out there like it was nothing. He's seen Valen after the sun. He knows Valen knows how bad it is. And yet, he's brave enough to do this no problem.
He takes a deep breath, then steps out all at once into Valen's arms, shaking.
"There we go," Valen coos, squeezing him. "Good job. See, it doesn't burn when you cover yourself up." He steps down the porch, leading them towards the truck. "Talk to me. How does it feel?"
"...Warm," Kane squeaks, voice saturated with fear. "It's, it's right there." He whimpers. "How are you not scared?"
"Kane, my dear," says Valen, voice finally cracking. "I am scared. But we've faced far scarier things than this before. We're proving we don't have to let fear win."
Kane squeezes Valen back. His brave, brave Valen. "I won't let anyone hurt you. I'm strong enough to protect you, now. I'm sorry that I couldn't before." He hesitates, then adds, "Will you sit in the back with me?"
Valen's heart melts when Kane says that. “Yes, of course.”
Kane clings tight to Valen as they make their way into Liz's truck, squeezing in. Kane grows more and more anxious as they get further from the safety of the house, especially now being transported by a hunter who hates him, even a kind one.
"So, where to?" Liz asks.
Valen directs her to drive for a while down the main road leading from his place–barely more than dirt and gravel, with how far out they were–and directs her to pull over to the side of the road nearby a visible trail. The trees provide some shade, though there is still plenty of sunlight between their dappled leaves.
Kane is grateful for the shade, even if he's still terrified. He remains a permanent fixture on Valen's arm. "You never got burned doing this, before?"
Valen pats Kane's arm as they walk. "Not once. In fact, all my problems only started when I took all this off in the safety of my own home."
Kane is only slightly comforted by this.
Valen starts to walk into the woods, then turns back. "Liz, ma'am, do you think perhaps you should put on some sunscreen? I wouldn't want you to get burned."
Liz chuckles and follows him. "I think I'll be fine. You're very sweet, though. Thanks. You don't have to call me ma'am, by the way."
Valen dips his head towards Liz. "I won't if you don't prefer it, but I mean nothing by it. I got into the habit of using honorifics liberally in my husband's estate, since it can be difficult to remember everyone's appropriate titles, and they get so very offended if you err on the side of being too casual."
Liz shrugs. "Makes me feel old, when I'm the spring chicken of this bunch. You guys are what, a hundred?"
"I'm 116," Kane says quietly, eyes focused on the pattern of sunlight on the ground.
"I'll be turning 87 later this year," says Valen. "Which, according to some, makes me too old for–Oh, look, here, everyone." Valen excitedly rushes forward and gets down on his hands and knees to examine a blood orange mushroom, growing in a sunny patch at the base of a tree. "This is exactly what I'm looking for. If we can get as many of these as possible, that would allow me to continue my experiments. Their caps are only open during the day." He unfolds a cloth bag from his pocket and gently plucks the mushroom from the ground, holding it by the stem. "Liz, this fungus contains a potent neurotoxin, so don't touch them with your bare hands."
"Oh, super noted," Liz says, taking several steps back.
Kane starts gently plucking mushrooms and putting them in the bag. "They don't smell like food. Do they smell like food after you do things to them?"
"Erm," says Valen. "Sort of. It's not... exactly like real blood.” Understatement of the century. “Unfortunately it usually tastes quite bad, and doesn't smell the same. Hence why I had to keep working on it." He stands. "This is a good patch, but I'm sure we can find more if we go a little further. Keep your eyes peeled, everyone."
They go for a nice walk, which is nicest to Liz and the least nice to Kane. When any of them try to help and point out or bring him mushrooms, it's about a 50-50 that he accepts them or holds them up and then tosses it over his shoulder declaring it a closely related, but not substitutable fungus, citing minor differences such as stem length, gill density, cap color or shape, or any number of indecipherable details. He always tells Kane the mushrooms he's finding have stems that are too short, but then when Kane starts pointing out ones with longer stems, he claims they're too long.
But eventually, the bag is full, and Valen is preening. "This is plenty, thank you everyone. We can go home now. I can freeze-dry these ones for a long-term supply.”
"Sweet," Liz says. "We can all get some sleep, then pack up the truck with anything you wanna take with you, then head out toward the border."
Kane is very relieved for this experience to be over. He has had a little bit of fun picking mushrooms, but the sun is just too frightening. "Yes. Sleep," he agrees.
"Excellent. Great work, everyone."
They see a few chipmunks on the way back to the truck, and drive back to Valen's house without incident. However, when they start making arrangements to sleep, Valen realizes that he doesn't have very much furniture, and the only real suitable place to sleep in the house is the mattress upstairs. He doesn't even have a couch, the furnishings of the house are so bare.
He tells them this in a very embarrassed way, unsure of what to do.
"I'll sleep in my truck, it's cool," Liz says. She is not gonna be caught sleeping in the same bed as Kane. She waves and heads out the door.
"It's- I can- I'm used to the floor," Kane says, trying to be polite.
“Kane,” Valen says, equal parts exasperated and amused. “The mattress is big enough for both of us to sleep on together.”
"O-okay," says Kane. "If you're certain." Valen waits until the door is closed, then goes around doublechecking the blackout curtains before finally starting to shed his layers. "See, my dear? We did it, and not a scratch on us. We're unstoppable!"
Kane takes his mask off to reveal a smile. "You're right. We really are. Three bouts with hunters and here we are, somehow." He starts taking off the duct tape, then stops, contemplating. "...It was worth it, I think. If it weren't for all of that, I wouldn't have ever met you. And I'd still be taking humans."
Valen blushes. "I'll take it as high praise that you think I'm worth all that. Though it pains me to know what you went through, I love the gentleness and understanding your experiences have given you now. It is so unfortunately rare among our kind." Valen sits on the floor, staring into the eyes of his mask. "Sometimes it feels so endless, to try and fight this uphill battle against the cruelty around us."
"Yes. I just wish I wasn't a part of it. I wish it wasn't Jim. I was so horrible to him, for years. Worse than most who own humans. I wish I could just take it all back," Kane says somberly.
Valen pats the spot next to him for Kane to sit down. "There's nothing that can be done about it now, except try to make it right. You have a unique perspective. You know what it's like to think that way, and to realize you're wrong. You'll be more able to convince people to change their minds than I would. People attribute my idealism to naivete."
"Yes, I suppose you're right." Kane agrees, sitting down and leaning against Valen.
Valen’s temporary house is barely set up for one person to sleep in, let alone two, but Valen turns out to be correct about the mattress being big enough for both of them. Valen lies down, and Kane cuddles up against him from behind like Valen’s a giant teddy bear. Valen leans into it, feeling much more relaxed and cherished here in this bare room on a mattress directly on the floor than he ever had at his husband’s luxurious estate.

Rambling Contexts Behind My Crossover Headcanons and Drabbles: Kaiju No. 8 X KNACK.
Well the funny part is I won't actually get to the story; I just found this dusty thing in my drafts and am emptying it. Too many stories in my brain...
This is basically a huge lump of headcanons and brief summaries for the game and anime, that might have been important if I got around to writing a crossover. I go over KNACK, then Kaiju Number Eight, then a small amount of crossover, so you can skip to the headings you want.
KNACK
Knack is an off-duty Superhero in his home dimension among humans. Participating in a dodgy military operation to kneecap the goblins in a racial conflict after they threatened to even-out the battlefield, Knack provided much of the manpower alongside (and against) Viktor Industries' army of robots. In an ego-driven turn of events, Knack's father-figure - Dr. Vargas - competed with Viktor to find an Artifact thought to revolutionize the field of relic energy, only to wind up releasing a dangerous entity that threatened to destroy the planet. An entity that Knack put in the dirt for the last time.
Knack himself is composed of "relics" - devices of simple external geometry made from metal and carved stone that also serve as an infinite power source (with the right tech), thought to have come from a lost civilization. He can grow in size by picking up these or similar items.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My storytelling has him at 2 years old chronologically, but he has super-learning. His emotional maturity isn't quite as fast, but it's hard to pin down. He is playful and quiet, a teacher's pet, but he can be hateful, putting on a show of a trash-talking action hero. His behavior toward others depends on who they are to him. Naturally, I enhanced his propensity for mimicry due to his age. My impression of his character may be wrong, but I can't see him any other way.
Interestingly - and I wrote this headcanon long before I was made aware of Kaiju No. 8 - Knack is also making good on a childhood promise of sorts, and he's been awfully successful at it. *malignant gleam*
Knack and Lucas had inadvertently transported themselves into the Kaiju No. 8 universe. More details on how it happened here.
One power Knack has now: the ability to create portals within anything shaped like a ring or doorway, connecting the KNACK and Kaiju Number 8 universes. I add some powers thematic to his character, as well as required secondary ones, e.g, voice amplification or self-applied minor gravity distortion, respectively. In canon, he often has powers as the plot demands, but I'm pretty conservative about it, I think.
His crazier abilities are canonically powered by Sunstones. A Shockwave that sends relics flying with a burst of energetic force that radiates outwards, knocking away foes and things and doing more damage than a normal punch. A Relic Storm that swirls around him to protect him, which doesn't have the same reach or damage (as far as I could tell) as the Shockwave, but allows him to move his position a short distance with a kind of invulnerability. And what is essentially a Relic Cannon, which lobs balls of relics at up to three or four targets to do massive damage. I give him a fourth ability sometime within his stay with Kaiju Number 8, which I can't put here because Long.
Dr. Vargas's (wife? Girlfriend?), Charlotte, who is herself an intellectual powerhouse, mothers Knack and Lucas at their home dimension. She would be keenly curious about Knack's newfound abilities, though somehow I have trouble picturing the Doctor doing the same (he often puts his ego above scientific discovery, so I question his love of the craft. I might ask around some folks for their impressions of him). Doc's friend - and Lucas's uncle - Ryder is often busy exploring. I am curious how he might react to the portal thing and what lies beyond.
Lucas is effectively Knack's adopted human brother to me. He is also featured in the screenshots above. I have him at 13 or so; he's a lot like Reno in that he's smart and quick to criticize his mentor, though Lucas's relationship with Dr. Vargas is often strained instead.
Kaiju Number Eight
It's an anime and also a manga.
32-year-old Kafka Hibino worked for Monster Sweepers, cleaning up Kaiju corpses after Japan's Anti-Kaiju Defense Force sprays their guts everywhere. Incidentally, his childhood friend is now-27-year-old Mina Ashiro, Captain of the Third Division of the Defense Force. Kafka had given up joining a long time ago. Reno Ichikawa, 18, appeared as a new co-worker, treating the job like a stepping stone to get experience for the entrance exams to the force, and later explained to Kafka that the age barrier had been raised to 33.
Within the hour that Kafka decided to give getting into the Force one last try, a small insectoid kaiju appeared, supposedly looking for him. It took advantage of his shock at its appearance and entered his body through his mouth, transforming him into a humanoid Kaiju. He can return to human form for the most part, but can't fully relinquish his powers, and his new terrifying visage can "slip out" if he's not careful. He is among the weakest humans and the strongest Kaiju.
I can't quite boil down Kafka's character either. I love the way the anime does him subbed as a very emotional character. His doubts feel real and relatable, and he has a fatherly sort of tendency, but he's also silly. Knack might be a bit of an actor, but I like Kafka more honest and vulnerable.
Reno is just too cute. He reminds me of Lucas a whole lot somehow. He did this whole show of rivalry or whatever but when it came right down to it he would never leave Kafka behind.
Crossover
Kafka had appointed himself as guardian of Knack and Lucas, which had inadvertently cast some suspicion in his direction, as the latter two had no papers to their names. Knack always wore a mascot costume to cover his metal tusks, stony face, and pointy ears. But Lucas couldn't hide his unusual proportions - long arms and large hands mainly - as he was otherwise fully human.
Lucas was quick to explain to Japan's Anti-Kaju Defense Force (which had an assistant question him privately) that he was an orphan - which was true - and that his records must have been destroyed. When asked how he was related to Kafka in any way, he struggled to come up with a good lie, feigning forgetfulness. He alleged that he must have met Kafka when he was too young to remember, and that he definitely believed Kafka had a familiar face (another lie). For most questions, Lucas couldn't properly answer, in the end summoning some bad memories to start the waterworks. To others, his outburst seemed reasonable for a thirteen-year-old boy who'd been through some things. Lucas always maintained that Kafka was a familiar friend (which was true only recently) and that he never made Lucas uncomfortable or unsafe (completely true). Ultimately, that conversation soothed most of the worries the Force had at the time.
Knack never spoke with anyone on the Force, no matter the question. He feigned distress when anyone touched his costume, and his small stature lent an extremely youthful impression. Aside from the long arms occasionally seeming too articulate, Knack could come off as an eccentric toddler, even using his mysterious powers to lighten the weight of his stone-and-metal body. He utterly refused to have his costume removed for a picture. And there was only so much the Defense Force could reasonably do with a presumably-traumatized kid.

The Goliath Paradise
It was supposed to be a whole fic but I gave up after recent lore update from Magoyond. But I still like the vibe so here it is.
For the @drcarmillaappreciationweek prompt four: crossover
Words: 3,575
Summary: Dr. Carmilla and the mechs are visiting a planet in another dimension in hope to find Nastya. They end up on Magoyond's planet. What I like to call "the french mechs".
Story under the cut.
Can't resist putting you the whole clip here.
youtube
“We’re here.” stated Carmilla. “Be on your best behaviour, I don’t want to have to deal with one of you infected.”
“Infected by… what?” asked Brian.
“By the Virus Z. You should be safe and not turn into an awakened, but I’m not totally sure how your mechanisms would react to a viral infection. And I don’t even talk about being turned into a voodoo! Even if you look more like monsters than humans by their standards, we can’t be sure.”
The crew exchanged a look, unsure of what the Doctor was talking about. Even Ivy wasn’t sure of what she was referring to. There was only one way to find out: they followed Carmilla out of the train, grabbing their luggage with them.
The Doctor stepped with precaution on the tiny platform, which tried to pass as a train station. She tested the wood with her cane to avoid walking on the rotten plank. Jonny wasn’t as lucky, because his leg went right through the first plank he put his foot on. He groaned a few insults.
“Why didn’t we go straight to the city again?” he complained. “I saw a brochure, they have a cabaret there!”
“And a palace.” added Tim.
“And a hotel.” pointed Ivy.
“And a circus!” shouted the Toy Soldier with excitement.
“Yeah!” complained Jonny again. “Why are we in the middle of nowhere? Aren’t we supposed to find Nastya?”
Carmilla stopped walking and heavily sighed. She turned to them, putting her two hands on her cane.
“Alright. I think it’s time I give you a few rules.”
“Rules?!” groaned Jonny.
“Yes. Rules. We’re not in the same dimension. We are in a new one on a very unstable planet. And we don’t need a genocide or the end of this system.”
She marked a pause, giving a good long look to each of her kids. She needed to be sure that they would be nice and calm.
“Rule number one: Don’t attract attention. No fight. No insult. No arson. No destruction. You have to act like this world is your original one, and you are mortals. Rule number two: Don’t interact with anyone if it’s not necessary. Like I said, this world is unstable. The tiniest shake, and everything will crumble on itself. Rule number three: You will do exactly what I say at any time. No questions.”
“Boring!” shouted Tim.
“Do you want to find Nastya, yes or no?”
Everyone looked away, guilty. Carmilla sighed and began to walk among the scraps of metal and wood in the mud.
“Come on, I know somewhere you will like. And there will be someone who can help us, hopefully.”
They walked for a few miles like this, nobody daring to protest again. But the travel hadn’t been without problems, the mud was squishy, and it was like walking in glue. Jonny had fallen three times already, dragging Tim down once. Brian had been forced to carry him on one of his shoulders, the other being occupied by Ivy.
But Carmilla didn’t stop. Even when her leg throbbed painfully. They needed to find shelter before nightfall. And she didn’t tell her children, but she wasn’t sure if her contacts would be there. It had been a few years since she had seen them. And if it was barely a glimpse for her, it would be an eternity for them.
A little anxious, she finally stopped near an old and abandoned warehouse. She could feel the questioning gazes of his children, but she didn’t explain anything. Instead, she used the head of her cane to knock on the door.
A few moments of awkward silence passed. And then…
“Password?” grumped a voice.
“Password? What password?”
“No one is allowed in without authorization. No password, no enter. Piss off, monsters.”
Carmilla winced. Right. She had forgotten about that. But she wouldn’t give up. She knocked again.
“Tell Le Mago that the only decent vampire on the whole volcano is here.”
Silence only answered her. But the tension was so present that she swore she could taste it. Then, hurried footsteps ran away. She hoped it was a good sign.
“Er… Carmilla?” asked Brian, unsure. “What is going on?”
“We’re here.”
“I think we understood that, but… Why are we going somewhere with no monsters allowed, whatever that means, and with a password needed to enter.”
“Monsters refer to every creature that is not human. Mostly zombies, but also: vampires, titans, werewolves, ghosts and legendary creatures… They are the overwhelming majority, and they hunt the rest of humanity. That’s why we're supposed to be monsters when we’re in public. Now hush, I hear someone coming back.”
A few clicks were heard, and then the door opened. A man with a station cap opened them, his eyes sleepy brushed over their weird group but shrugged.
“Alright. You are on the VIP list, you can come in.”
“My group too?”
“Sure, Le Mago wrote it could happen.”
Carmilla sighed in relief and stepped in, quickly followed by Ashes, who glared at the guard.
“Trap is behind the containers, watch your steps.” warned the man before going back to his nap.
She didn’t need to, she knew all the traps here. It felt familiar, even comforting. With ease, she used her cane to open the trap on the floor, revealing a long staircase.
“Alright, we’re going to stay here for a few days. I think you will find this place at your convenience. Don’t cause trouble, don’t get drunk, and play nice. Alright?”
Without waiting for an answer, she turned into her cat form and went down, disappearing in the darkness.
“What the fuck was that?” mused Jonny, still perched on Briar shoulder.
“Looks like the doctor made new friends!” cheered the Toy Soldier before going down too.
Then Ashes shrugged and followed, the others not far behind them. At the bottom, a heavy metal door greeted them. They could feel vibrations through it.
“Alright. Secret spooky doc’s double life, let’s go.” mumbled Tim before pushing the door open.
And the world exploded. Not literally, but it was how it felt when you spent an undefined amount of time walking in a muddy, silent wasteland and then coming in a full cabaret. The room was packed with people who were drinking, laughing, singing, playing… They were in an orange-red light from dozens of torches, except the scene, which had a white light spot. And the barman was serving alcohol, the clients were playing cards, and the workers were walking around in extravagant costumes. But what attracted their attention was the band on the scene, performing.
Dehors tout est désert (The outdoors are deserted)
Aucune âme qui vive, seulement des chimères (Not a living souls, only chimerae)
Ce lieu est un mystère (This place is a mystery)
Un tripot invisible, un speakers sous-terre (An invisible gambling den, an underground speakeasy)
Jonny was so focused on the singer that he was surprised when Brian put him down with Ivy. The Drumbot led them to a free table a little in the dark, trying not to attract attention.
À la lueur des torches (By candlelight)
Nous descendons des verres (We down our drinks)
Élaborons des plans (And think up plans)
Pour décharger nos revolvers (To unload our six-shooters)
Jonny grinned at the lyrics. Oh yes, Carmilla was right! He loved this place! Felt just like home. The singer looked like an interesting guy, walking around the guests, greeting each of them while giving everything he had in his microphone.
A trail of drinks passed near them, and Tim grabbed it. Everyone took a glass. They weren’t sure what it was, but if it was as good as the music, it would be a blast!
Le soulèvement des rescapés (The survivors’ uprising)
Des profondeurs de la cité (From the depths of the city)
L'insurrection s'installe (Insurrection takes hold)
The crowd was growing more and more agitated, and Ivy could feel goosebumps forming on her arms. It wasn’t the kind of establishment she liked to frequent, but the band was so passionate that she couldn’t help but merge with the general excitation.
Car nous sommes clandestins (‘Cause we are stowaways)
Nous ne voulons plus vivre dans les souterrains (We don’t want to live underground till the the end of days)
Que quelqu'un nous délivre, nous sommes clandestins (Let’s someone free us, we are stowaways)
Nous nous cachons pour vivre dans les souterrains des enfers (To survive we all stow away in hell’s dark passageways)
Au Goliath Paradise – oh (At the Goliath Paradise – oh)
Libérons-nous du mal – oh (Let’s free ourselves from evil – oh)
Gagnons la capitale – oh (Reach the capital – oh)
La rébellion s'installe – Goliath Paradise (The rebellion takes hold – Goliath Paradise)
The whole crowd busted into one voice, singing along the chorus. Some of them knew the lyrics, the rest supported the statement with screams and brandished fists. The mechs couldn’t stop themselves, but they joined the screams. Brian noticed that everyone was way more cheerful now than a few minutes earlier.
The singer seemed to notice them. He glanced and then smirked, slaloming between tables.
Vous êtes nouveaux sous-terre (Are you new under earth?)
Ici les humains vivent aux côtés de Lucifer (Here humans live at Lucifer’s side!)
Vous semblez solitaires (You seem lonely?)
Vous êtes pourchassés vous vivez un calvaire, oh (Are you hunted? Is your life an ordeal? Oh!)
Mettez-vous donc à l'aise (Make yourself comfy)
Rencontrez vos compères (You can meet the whole crew)
Et quand le bar sera vide (And once the bar’s empty)
On fera sauter la poudrière (We’ll blow up this joint!)
The singer snapped his fingers, and a server appeared out of nowhere to refill their drinks. Tim and Jonny cheered while Ashes raised their drinks to the singer. He mimed saluting with a hat, grinning, and walked back to the scene.
Le soulèvement des rescapés (The survivors’ uprising)
Des profondeurs de la cité (From the depths of the city)
L'insurrection s'installe (Insurrection takes hold)
Here came the chorus again. But this time, they were all ready. They were a band for millennials now, and they knew how to adapt to a surprise song.
Car nous sommes clandestins (‘Cause we are stowaways)
Nous ne voulons plus vivre dans les souterrains (We don’t want to live underground till the the end of days)
Que quelqu'un nous délivre, nous sommes clandestins (Let’s someone free us, we are stowaways)
Nous nous cachons pour vivre dans les souterrains des enfers (To survive we all stow away in hell’s dark passageways)
Au Goliath Paradise – oh (At the Goliath Paradise – oh)
All of them half-sang and half-screamed the lyrics with the rest of the guests. But at the last cheering, all lights went out. The singer stopped his show, the band stopped their play, the workers went completely still. Even if they couldn’t see it, they could hear an impressive number of guns being taken out and loaded.
Everyone held back their breath, looking at the ceiling, searching the tiniest clue as to whether they had to fight or flee. Jonny, Tim and the Toy Soldier had taken their guns out as well, Ashes was armed with a stick of dynamite, Ivy with her taser and Brian had clenched his fists, ready to interpose himself between his crew and the potential threat.
Then, a unique spot lightened up on the scene. Bathed in white light, a contrabass had appeared in the center. A woman with teal hair began to play the melody. After a moment of shock silence, a few people cheered, like they knew who the new musician was. Wait a minute. Ashes frowned… it was…
It was Carmilla! The mechs were in shock, their eyes wide open. They knew she had continued to play music after she left, but they didn’t expect her to highjack the show like this!
Brian feared that the whole bar turned against her. But the singer began to snap his fingers to set the tempo, putting back his six-shooter in his holster, a huge grin appearing on his lips.
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
La rébellion s'installe (The rebellion takes hold)
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
Au quartier général (At the headquarters)
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
Libérons-nous du mal (Let’s free ourselves from evil)
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
Partons de ce dédale (Let’s leave this maze)
Bit by bit, the musicians went back to play. Bit by bit, the torches were lit up again. Bit by bit, the crowd went back to dance and sing along.
Ashes realized that it wasn’t exactly like before. The band was playing the song again, but was composing around Carmilla’s contrabass! They knew her! And if that wasn’t a good enough proof, the glances the singer were giving the doc every five seconds were enough to deduce they knew each other very well. Well enough to let her highjack their performance.
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
Gagnons la capitale (Reach the capital)
Au Goliath Paradise (At the Goliath Paradise)
La rébellion s'installe (The rebellion takes hold)
Prêt pour l'opération finale? (Are you ready for the final operation?)
Car nous sommes clandestins (‘Cause we are stowaways)
Nous ne voulons plus vivre dans les souterrains (We don’t want to live underground till the the end of days)
Que quelqu'un nous délivre, nous sommes clandestins (Let’s someone free us, we are stowaways)
Nous nous cachons pour vivre dans les souterrains des enfers (To survive we all stow away in hell’s dark passageways)
The singer ended standing up on a table in the middle of the bar, the crowd surrounding him. Every time he arched his back, the crowd arched their backs. Every time he raised his hand, the crowd raised their hands. Every time he stamped his foot, the crowd stamped their foot. He was in total control of the situation. But yet, he let the crowd take control to sing the chorus alone.
Au Goliath Paradise – oh (At the Goliath Paradise – oh)
Libérons-nous du mal – oh (Let’s free ourselves from evil – oh)
Gagnons la capitale – oh (Reach the capital – oh)
La rébellion s'installe (The rebellion takes hold)
Goliath Paradise!
All the light spots flashed all at once before turning off. When the lights went back to normal, the singer was back on the scene, next to Carmilla. Even was bowing and the crowd loudly cheered. The keyboard player started a record with background music on it and exited the scene with the rest of the band, Carmilla included.
“Come on.” said Ivy. “I think we should follow them.”
And the others nodded, already standing up. They made their way in the backstage, no one stopping them. They were led by loud, happy voices filtering under a poorly insulated door. Jonny opened the door without knocking, no care in the world.
“Oh I can’t believe it! You’re back!”
The singer was laughing, swinging Carmilla around in a hug like she weighted nothing. Three others men, all musicians part of the band, were looking at them with a little smile, sipping their drinks. And Carmilla… Carmilla was smiling too. In fact, she was melting in the hug. It was weird to see her like this.
“I thought you weren’t supposed to come back before centuries!” continue the singer with his overjoyed voice. “With your ‘I’m immortal and years are nothing for me so don’t expect me too early’ I thought you would be back for the end of the world! Not just ten years later! Not that I’m complaining.
“Oh well… you know how it is. The kids were in troubles and I need your help, so I stopped by. What a luck that you didn’t move your headquarters, even if it had developed greatly.”
“Ah! I knew it was them! I saw them in the crowd, hard to miss, but I didn’t know you were there too! And you know me, fucking around here and there, but mostly here. Easier to give a hand to an old friend when they highjack your show!”
They both laughed at that until the man with round glasses interrupted them.
“Talking about the kids, they’re here.”
Everyone turned to the mechs and the bald man made a sign to signify they could come in. It was Jonny who stepped up and glared at all of them.
“What. The. Fuck. Is happening?!”
The singer laughed and put Carmilla on an armchair before extending a hand to Jonny.
“You are Jonny d’Ville, I presume. Let’s see if I can identify everyone… The bot is Brian, the wooden doll is the Toy Soldier, that’s easy. So, I have to identify Tim, Ashes, Ivy, Marius and Raphaella.”
“Marius and Raphaella stayed aboard the Aurora, as lookouts.” cut Carmilla while accepting a drink from the last three musicians.
“Alright! I will say… mh… The guy with the different eyes is Tim, the person smelling like wood fire is Ashes and the last one is Ivy! I’m right?”
Carmilla simply nodded, an amused smile on her lips. The rest of the band cheered their singer.
“How do you know us?” asked Brian, putting a calming hand on Jonny’s shoulder, feeling him bubbling with anger, not liking to be in the spotlight without controlling it.
“Ah! It’s easy, Carmilla can’t shut up about you all. But where are my manners? Let me make the presentation: this is Aspic!”
The man with rounded glasses waved at them with a shy smile.
“He’s our keyboard and bass player. And also, our composer. Right in the corner is Nobru, drummer and co-artistic director.”
The bald man gave them one firm nod.
“The young man right here-”
“I’m not much younger than you.”
“… is Vito! Our lead guitar player and riff buster! And finally, myself, Le Mago! Co-creator, co-artistic director, singer and occasional guitar player! But you can call me Mago. We are Magoyond and welcome to our headquarters: The Goliath Paradise!”
The Mechanisms stared at Le Mago who stayed half-bowed awkwardly. When the silence stretched he made jazz-hands.
“You can applaud now!”
That made Aspic snorted and Nobru rolled his eyes. Le Mago finally straightened up and pouted, his ego wounded.
“How did you raised them, Carmi’? They have terrible manners.”
“If you think they ever listened to me, you are delusional. I had been airlocked more than once.”
“Wow, they are not kidding!”
Carmilla finished her drink and grinned at his friend. But Ashes interrupted them.
“Where is Nastya?” they asked with their serious face.
“Mh? How are you so sure that we know where she is?” replied Le Mago with an eyebrow raised.
“When you guessed our names, you never mentioned Nastya despite knowing everyone. I doubt the doctor wouldn’t talk about her. The only logical answer is that you know she couldn’t be among us, so you saw her before.”
Jonny gasped at that and Brian had to grab his hand and Tim’s to prevent them from drawing their guns. Le Mago was grinning like a madman, clearly amused. Aspic sighed and shook his head.
“We may had seen her a few months ago, yes.” he said, cutting short his friend’s game.
“Really?” asked Carmilla, clearly surprised to have information that easily. “How was she? Did she say anything?”
“We are not sure if it’s her, but since you are searching for her… It’s highly possible. Around eight months ago, some scavengers reported a thing from space had crashed nearby in the no man’s land. Some of them even said it was a human. Of course, no one believed them because it wasn’t possible. But they insisted and a few other humans went to check? They found a crater but nothing in it. Three days later, Mike – the guard – warned us that a young lady who looked like a zombie was trying to enter.”
“Nastya!” shouted Jonny with excitation.
“Maybe… I was the one who went to see. She looked terrible: clothes in tatters, severely burned, dried blood behind her head, a haunted gaze, frozen to the touch… But she wasn’t a zombie or a monster. She said she wanted somewhere to rest, just the time to heal.”
“She had a weird accent, like Russian or something like that…” added Vito.
“Oh yes, she had. She was spending her days walking around the no man’s land, despite the warnings, always coming back fine. And during the nights… the first ones, she had spent them at the bar, drinking our strongest alcohols. Not talking to anyone.”
“Didn’t even told us her name.” mumbled Nobru.
At this point, the mechs had decided to sat down to listen the tale. They were scattered all around Carmilla’s armchair. They looked like little ducklings surrounding their mom. Le Mago continued the story.
“At some point, we had a problem with our electronic devices and she was staring at us like she knew what to do and was baffled that we didn’t. I asked her to come take a look. She sighed and did. Fixed everything in ten minutes top! I hired her right away and we gave her the nickname of Little Lady.”
“Then She Is Here!” cut Toy Soldier with enthusiasm.
“Nah. She left three weeks ago with all her stuff and always refused to let us take a picture. But! We may have something that could help you to say if it was her or not. Aspic! Do the thing!”

Into, Across and Beyond!: Shared Universe Mentions
So just yesterday, I got praise from @robovoidfrog for the inclusion of their character in IAB!, and I'm honestly chuffed to get this feedback! So through this post, I just wanted to talk about the prospect of the shared universe idea between this project, Funkinverse and the original Spider-Verse trilogy.
NOTE: None of the mentioned points are canon to either of the projects outside of IAB! unless stated otherwise.
So first off, as you saw through the aforementioned post, The X not only had a run-in with this project's Quill Society, but he also seems to be the most remotely aware of the nature of film fics based around Spider-Verse. A lot of these indeed kick off with that world's iconic hero dying and someone else having to take their mantle for them, which leads them into quite the whacky crossover situation.
In this continuity, some things are different for the Funkinverse storyline due to what goes on with the base FNF universe here. For instance:
Boyfriend died long before through the events of Mario's Madness, and a universal reboot is what gave way to Benjamin.
Though, like in canon, BF's WI and Twinsomnia incarnations are generation counterparts in the base FNF universe, they're also separate counterparts in Funkinverse (Twinsomnia's BF being Brooke's little son).
Softie/Benjamin Fairest's counterpart in Funkinverse is separate to the one who's linked to IAB!'s FNF universe.
As Benjamin had befriended several of the other BFs and GFs (those from B-Sides, D-Sides, Neo, Minus, B3 and Arrow Funk specifically), any of those that are linked to the Funkin' Society are quick to understand after Cam's hostilities that Salty's in the right for aiming to save his legal guardians from The X and quickly switch sides against Agent Blueballs' ideals for canon events.
The Sky counterpart encountered by the Funkin' Gang is a more hostile variant compared to ErrorSky, who changed her ways after enough time.
As mentioned above, The X was successfully detained and neutralised by the Quill Society post-Funkinverse, but the fact that it took FOUR of its members to detain him, compared to just two (Pana and SS!Amy) detaining Speedy in his Chaos Emerl guise, speaks volumes of how he is indeed a threat on par with The Spot and Crimtake.
As Beyond the Spider-Verse isn't out yet, we still don't know whether or not The Spot was successfully beaten.
Sunday ending up with protanopia after their encounter with The X didn't sail well with Carol, Benjamin OR Grace, hence why Benjamin calls him out on it. To think it was all because of a little disagreement about breakfast foods.
The Childhood Memories universe canonically NEVER encountered the Corruption (which is apparently a canon thing, according to Agent Blueballs), and even if it did show up, it'd never effect any of the children's shows. Yeah, get lost, Pibby kids.
In the IAB! continuity, Lexi Robin ended up defecting from the Funkin' Society after seeing just how wrong everything is, and she was rooting for the Funkin' Gang and Benjamin's crew from the sidelines.
After Cam's clash with Benjamin, Soft Pico and Neo GF (their original counterparts) sided with Benjamin in a bid to get their boyfriends back out of the Funkin' Society and back to doing the right thing in general.
Identically to Funkinverse, there's a lone repeat customer that the therapist of the bunch dislikes. For Funkinverse, it's the Boyfriend/Keith from Earth-666 (I Can't Sleep) who Softie dislikes, whereas in IAB!, CD Alt Ending Sonic's disliked repeat customer is Charlie (the Sonic from the god-awful "Sonic 2 Lost Prototype" fangame). That said, he does try to bear with the guy's emotional turmoil, though the other major therapist of the Quill Society, Sara, seems to have caught on as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of the Gangs' members having possible canon interactions:
Miles, Salty and OMT!Tails would definitely help learn from each other on how to better protect their respective worlds, and also find solace in the fact that they were all treated as anomalies at different points.
Peter B., Brooke and CR!Sonic would be the doting dads after their first outings and talk quite a bit about their sons/daughters.
Gwen, SNS GF and OMT!Mina would be a sort of comfort group to each other, considering their rough pasts and how broken each one is deep down. Gwen, having been most successful thus far, would definitely be the beacon of light girl the other two clearly need.
Noir, Toon BF and Mini Sonic would interact quite a bit about the Rubik's Cubes that they were given as souvenirs, and their different reasons for admiring the cubes.
Spider-Ham, Mobian BF and Mr. Needlemouse are definitely the kind to goof around with their cartoon antics. That said, with the lattermost being the biggest prick, he is prone to being called out for it by the other two, though barely giving a care about it.
Peni, Aloe and EX!Alice are the tech geeks of their respective dimensions and would love sharing their robot-building (maintaining, in Aloe's case) knowledge with each other.
Hobie and the D-Sides versions of BF and Mighty would find common ground in their ideals of screwing over intended consistencies and going their own way in life.
Pavitr, Golden BF and Black Knight Amy would have a way with each other being the naïve newcomers of their respective teams, and BK!Amy, harbouring the most experience, can share some tips for her companions.
The Sonias and CR!Manik would be happy to look after Mayday and Twinsomnia BF, due to them both being toddlers. Them being children sporting superpowers makes it click more.
Margo, Boom, Nicole and Nine could bond from their computer-based knowledge, and the majority could also aim to lift Nine's spirits if he's feeling a bit down.
So that's pretty much the basic gist of things. Another few tidbits:
Of those instigating the canon events, between four candidates: - Melanie / MP (the kid pictured below), despite having tried this himself, didn't do it willingly, and was forced into it by so-called "superiors" who got the short end of the stick big time from Nitro, even after their passing made it look like they could get away with it. - Miguel and Agent Blueballs, despite their cruel methods, at least have good intentions in mind for their approach, but go about it the wrong ways that alienate those around them. - Lost Memory Sonic is the only one of these four to stoop lower than the others would've done, and actually tries DESTROYING universes to maintain the status quo.
Tumblr media
(Art will be updated when @mcgamejolter finishes it)
Of the major protagonists between the three universes, OMT!Tails is the only one that's rarely had to use his nanomachine gear to disguise his identity with. That said, he has used it when he visited the dimension of the Hues of Metal (Dimension HoM-2023), and the suit's robotic sheen actually FOOLED the robots. At least, until LM!Sonic was driven away from their base (apparently for, as Rocket Metal put it, being a stereotypical Australian tourist).
In the above point's case, Metallix is the one to catch out OMT!Tails when they're alone, though is ultimately overpowered... from OMT!Tails mentioning that a certain web series isn't officially canon, causing Metallix to go poof from existence. Again.
Despite being a supposed "canon event", Sonic.EXEs are surprisingly quite rare to see in universes that aren't meant to have them, like with the Corruption, Darkness and Venom Symbiotes. That said, the first documented case of one showing up in a Sonic universe in the Quill Society logs is in the Sonic Robo Blast 2 dimension (Dimension SRB-1998), a universe that doesn't even have a canon appearance of the demonic entity.
After "Rivals' Madness" (my unofficial expansion/sequel to Mario's Madness/Vs. Sonic.exe (RERUN)), several of the worlds encountered are their own universes, so the characters within are not solely bound as digital slaves to Ultra M, Xenophanes OR 2011!X.
Related to the above, pretty much all the major cast of FNF ended up dealing with the mess of Ultra M and Xeno in that one adventure, most of which put up with one enemy each; Sophie from Left Behind for Tankman, Mr. L, X.nes and Requital for Pico (the lattermost he fights again later), Stranger for Skid and Pump, OMT for Mommy/Martha Mearest, Awe's Chromophobiac for Senpai, and NMI (No More Innocence) for Daddy/Daniel Dearest.
There are alternate versions of Heaven AND Hell in the IAB! multiverse that aren't solely bound by the Christian bible's depictions. For instance, there's a genuinely friendly community in my version of Hell, which an alternate version of Benjamin dubbed "Keith" discovers after his passing.
Akin to @thestrongestjewel's Eepytale, the Frisk, Chara and Asriel of the IAB! continuity have been living together for some time, albeit independently from adoptive parents like Toriel. Kris also spends some time with them as the biggest sibling of the group, akin to their role in @akanemnon's Twin Runes series.
The full list of those lives lost to the "canon event" theory are as follows:
OMT!Sonic, OMT!Vanilla and OMT!Sally (OMT!Tails)
Uncle Chuck (Crossover Realm Sonic and Extraterrestrial Encounter Sonic)
Sonic and Tails (OMT!Mina)
Caffrin (EX!Alice)
Marc Smith (Nitro; he couldn't even avert this in the Rewritten universe)
Sonic (Antho and Mobiverse Tails)
Amy (ChaosIIUniverse Sonic and Sonia)
ALL of his friends (Hog)
Silver (Lost Memory Sonic)
Tails and Amy (CD Alt Ending Sonic)
The original Boyfriend and Girlfriend (via the original FNF universe's events that led to its rewrite)
Cassandra (both from a tactic Pico pulled to end his school's terrorism early in the new timeline, and for good following the Corruption's events)
Proto Man/Blues (alongside Wily, Bass and Treble) (Mega Man/Rock; these four lost their lives to a rogue Zero build who remains shut down to this day)
For now, that's all I can really discuss. Took me some time to think about all the stuff I could mention here. Until the next post, have a great day/night!

20 Questions for Fic Writers:
(Tagged by @aashiyancha! :D Posting here instead of on the main blog tho, because I want it in with all my other fic-adjacent thoughts.)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
10! Which doesn't feel like many to me, buuuut...
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
...317,249! 8D
3. What fandoms do you write for?
For the longest time, it was just RF, but I have some stories for something else waiting in the wings because the brainrot just got to be too much. >_>; I also used to write a lot of original fiction (that's how I started writing actually), and hope to do so again whenever I feel like it. ^_^
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Behold:
Tumblr media
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! Mostly just because I get excited and have no chill. But also because you can't leave kudos on comments, and I want people to know I read and appreciate them. <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This was kind of a hard question, because the way I generally roll is that the bulk of the fic is angsty and the ending is kind of bittersweet or hopefully ambiguous. But I think it's actually Afternoon Lullaby. Which had an outwardly mostly breezy ending, but at the end of the day it's like... "Your love is doomed, and you will grieve him for many times longer than he'll even live." But the love is there and it is real! Which might only make it worse! Gah!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Honestly, probably Four Seasons Casebook. Mostly just because it ends with hints at things being... Too happy... >_>; (I don't consider this a spoiler because fellow Lucasheads already know what's up. :P)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Everyone has been really chill and nice! The real hotheads in this fandom are all busy on reddit trying to wish Cecil into the cornfield or whatever, I think.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
...Define smut, ha. >_>; I do write sex scenes, but I don't really do PWP, and I'm pretty vague/non-graphic about intercourse proper. But I love getting all horny and lingering about making out and foreplay, people's kinks, etc. I guess it can be best described as a "whole meal of appetizers" approach. Weird sexual tapas bar! Woo!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Does combining different games from the same series count? I feel like it doesn't.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, and I would be genuinely surprised if this happened.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I hereby give permission to anyone who would like to take a crack at it!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, and I'm honestly not sure how that works! (Or maybe I'm just a control freak?)
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Of the ones I've written, I'm ride or die for Lucas/Terry, and have accepted that it's kind of my Thing.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't tend to have a lot of things going at once, because I have a one-track mind and don't multitask well. I'm currently only working on one thing, and am halfway through the initial writing phase! But I have two longfics in the queue after that, and I gotta admit, I'm kinda "how will these EVER be DONE!?" about them, because there are two, and they are long. But I've written two longfics before, and they got wrote, so I'm sure these will too!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I have an eye for detail, and a lot of visual imagination.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My fics are long and tedious and bogged down by details and tangents. But I see that as inextricable from my strengths, so there isn't really any fixing it. I'm just a certain kind of writer!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Knock yourselves out! I unfortunately only know one language, at the moment so I can't play right now. :(
19. First fandom you wrote for?
RF! I actually dabbled a little waaaaaay back in the day, and it's still floating around out there probably, but I haven't interacted with it in years and can't vouch for it.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Probably Four Seasons Casebook. Something about that one really came together! I also have a lot of affection for All the Night Gardens, mostly because it was just so fun to be cringe and free and in my feelings while I basically chewed on the walls pecking away at it for over a year.
I tag @twilightscribbles, @wordspastsaturn, @tinylantern, and @nullnomore! But no pressure! And feel free to do it even if I didn't tag you!

I am not sure why you decided to cover Evangelion all of a sudden, but I am hella old like you and haven't watched it for whatever reason either. (which was strange because it was all the rage back at school thousands of years ago)
Not sure why this series eluded you also, but anyway I just want to thank you for this opportunity as I have decided to watch along. Looking forward to seeing more of your analysis.
Do you have any other bucket list 90s anime series that you have some interest in covering? I recently got around to Martian Successor Nabisco myself because the theme song is amazing
PS: You're a chemist right? Please make some crazy chemical that will make oldness go away for your sake and mine, it's 2024 I can't believe we haven't invented immortality yet
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading.
I don't remember exactly when I first heard of NGE, but I'm pretty sure it was in the late 90s, probably in the Diamond Previews or Wizard Magazine. As I got deeper into comic book collecting, I bought both of those publications, and as anime started to gain a foothold in North American nerd culture, I started to see more and more anime/manga products referenced or advertised in Wizard and Previews.
I pretty much despised anime in the early 90s, mostly thanks to poor localizations of shows like Superbook and Speed Racer, which made the whole genre look like a bad joke. I remember those ads for "Japanimation" that tried so hard to make it sound badass and cool, but the ads were so corny that they ended up making the stuff look even dumber. By 1997 or so I had kind of learned to tolerate it as a concept, although I still had no interest in it. Sailor Moon was on Toonami, but it seemed like they only put it in the block to add a certain variety to the show. Vintage superhero fare, Thundercats, Sailor Moon, and that Johnny Quest show with CGI. Then they added an obscure show called Dragon Ball Z to the lineup, and that slowly won me over.
By 2000 I was tuning into Toonami mainly for Batman and Superman TAS, and getting hooked on DBZ and Tenchi Muyo! at the same time. I refer to these as the "Four Horsemen of Toonami" for that reason. In 2001 I started writing a Superman/Tenchi crossover, which basically cemented my status as a huge weeb. (Luffa is just a continuation of my effort to do fanfics of the Four Horsemen block of Toonami.*)
Anyway, somewhere in this period I probably started seeing merch for Rei and Asuka in their plugsuits or whatever they're called. I might have seen the Evas but let's be real, a mech wouldn't have stood out much in a genre full of giant robots. I'd see ads for things like Eva and Revolutionary Girl Utena and wonder just what the hell these things were about, but I also just shrugged and accepted that I would probably never find out, since anime was expensive and difficult to find, and I wasn't going to go out of my way just to satisfy idle curiosity. Back in those days, anime was an investment, and I wasn't going to pay thirty bucks for three episodes of something unless I knew it would be good. I tried a few things like Noir and Excel Saga, but only because I had a fairly decent idea what I was getting into.
By 2016, I had more disposable income, and this blog was pretty well established as a way to spend my free time, so I started looking for new things to watch. I checked out Hellsing Ultimate mostly so I'd be able to understand the jokes in Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. I checked out JJBA because it was red hot at the time, and everyone was talking about who their favorite Jojo was, and I wanted to know what that meant. I checked out Utena because I got a tip that it was available for free on YouTube, and I watched the first season of Sailor Moon. I didn't do all of that in 2016. It probably took me until 2018 to get all that watched.
So it was probably somewhere in there that I gave serious thought to tracking down Neon Genesis Evangelion, because it's one of those that I always wondered about, and now I had the means to actually find it and watch it, and I had enough anime experience that I felt reasonably confident that I could appreciate it. I suspect that I could have screened it between 1997 and 2010 I just would have been confused. But I've seen people talk about it for a lot of years, and probably a lot of that's been on tumblr, and it's just one of those things that's been on the fringes of my pop culture awareness.
I think NGE finally became available on Netflix in 2020 or something? But there were fans complaining about the dubs and the subs, so I thought I should hold off for a while. In 2021 I finally just said "fuck it" and bought a used copy of the "Perfect Collection" on DVD. My thing was, if I was going to watch this, I wanted to get it right the first time. I've savored Dragon Ball for decades by watching the dub, then the subs, but if I'm going to try out new stuff I don't want to have to keep going back to get the "true" experience.
I'm doing it now mainly because I hadn't had time before. I've been caught up in other things, and 2024 looked wide open, so I started thinking about things I've been putting off that I really wanted to do, and this was one of the first things I thought of. I just want to scratch that itch, and even if this show turns out to be awful, at least I can have the satisfaction of knowing I finally saw for myself.
As far as other old anime titles, I don't have any immediate plans. I still need to watch the Akira movie, but I read the manga so that sort of damped my interest in checking out the movie version. Galaxy Express 999 is on my bucket list, kind of for the same reasons as Evangelion and Utena, where I used to see ads for it and wondered what it was about. Fist of the North Star also interests me, because it has a kickass theme song, and I'm pretty sure it had a profound influence on the early years of JJBA. But I probably won't get around to them for a while.
Ultimately, there's only so much I can do with the time I have on this planet. There is no elixir of life, and unless they let you watch anime in heaven, I have to set priorities. One gripe with anime that I still retain from my youth is that it's pretty damn impenetrable. What I mean by that is that you can't even remotely judge a title by its cover, and so much of this stuff runs together that it's impossible to tell what would appeal to me and what isn't worth my time. I think that's why I've let popular culture and memes guide me in recent years. Stuff like JoJo Fridays and "Bitch, I Drink People" are tips that these shows had lasting appeal, and you don't make an impression like that without having a solid story. They can put a bunch of boobs on a DVD cover, but they can't draw a picture of the stuff that counts.

Okay, since I'm hoping to start writing again, I figured I'd jot down my current fic ideas and status to try and reorient myself and hopefully get myself in a good position to get back to them. (Not listed: Benjamin Comes Along visual novel idea because while I still really want to do it that's. A lot more involved than what I'd be able to make any progress on anytime soon.)
Top priority:
-The Battle AU (AIO), one-shot where Whit got injured instead of Lucy and Blackgaard succeeded in threatening Richard into continuing to work for him. Status: Outline complete, partially written.
-Your Pygmalion (Hatchetfield), multi-chapter sequel to Knight Moves. Status: Need to compile ideas and begin outline.
-A Second Chance (Pulp Musicals), one-shot sequel to A Chance Encounter, originally intended to fulfill the "possession" prompt. Status: Outline complete, partially written.
-Last Waltz (Spies Are Forever), one-shot where Curt fails to kill Owen and is trying to track him down. Status: Outline in progress, partially written.
Mid priority:
-What I'd prefer to call you (AIO), multi-chapter fic examining the ways Richard and Eugene have referred to each other over the course of the show. Status: Need to confirm information and begin outline.
-Forgiveness (Pulp Musicals), one-shot where Samuel tries to reconcile with Benjamin before leaving New York. Status: Outline in progress, partially written.
-Liar (Spies Are Forever), one-shot pre-show where Owen scolds Curt for putting himself in unnecessary danger to save him. Status: Outline in progress, partially written.
-Roleswap (Spies Are Forever), one-shot where, in the first scene, Owen is captured and Curt is undercover. Status: Need to finish outline, partially written.
-To make my kind extinct (Spies Are Forever), multi-chapter fic where the Banana Incident never happened but Owen was still working for Chimera. Status: Overall outline complete, need to finish outline for individual chapters.
Backburner:
-Richgene fic (AIO), one-shot where Richard keeps ramping up his flirting with Eugene, who is oblivious. Reason for being on the backburner: Not really having enough in-depth ideas so far to be worth pursuing.
-Something Familiar (Hatchetfield/Spies Are Forever crossover), one-shot where Uncle Wiley goes back to recruit Agent Mega for the Lords in Black. Reason for being on the backburner: I am gonna be so honest with you guys right now I only wrote down the first part of my idea for this and I know I had more but can't remember it right now. Hopefully I will later.
-Fortnight Adjacent fics (Pulp Musicals), notably a Radiant Words fic, a Starstruck Hearts fic, and more snippets for the Anna&John and Margaret&Benjamin roleswap AU. Reason for being on the backburner: while I want to write these at some point, they're not hooking my imagination as much as some other ideas are currently.
-Whipping Boy (Spies Are Forever), multi-chapter fic that I've been fiddling with for about four years and highly doubt will ever get written. I still hold the idea dear so I'm not fully shelving it though. Reason for being on the backburner: see above, also I believe last I checked the outline had it at 19 chapters and that's a bit overwhelming right now.

Sometimes I have random plot thoughts on stories that I like reading or am writing and I just wanna talk about a few that keep squirming around in my mind.
Tachophobia AU: Random Idea... In an attempt to stop his friends from reverting Niko back to Sonic, Starline secretly takes them into the facility and starts manipulating them in similar but also different ways. They could interact if he wanted, but it'd be a "Psych Ward" situation.
Imprisonment/Cybernetic AU: I have done a lot of messed up shit to characters before, and this isn't any different. Just look at my Cybernetic AU because jeez Issue 4 went hard on Sonic's trauma. It was actually my favorite to write and draw. I also got all of the work done in FOUR DAYS. (strange record. Was going to see a friend soon and I cranked out 11 pages and finished right before midnight the day before)
I actually wing a ton of my writing, and many plots don't get off the ground unfortunately because of it. So to shoutout some of those abandoned comics... "Not So Different" (A short mini between Canon!Shadow and Cybernetic!Sonic bc I noticed how similar they were), that one mlp x sonic pony comic I only got one page done for and don't have a name for, another mlp x sonic crossover comic featuring the Paradox Prism I only got to the cover art for, and that Imprisonment AU comic I completely forgot about and... Unfortunately abandoned but idk might come back to it.
Shadow Prime AU: I've always wanted to make a comic adaptation of the fic, and I might come around to it eventually once I decide what I wanna do. The main issue is the art style... Do I want it fully colored, black and white, or selective coloring? Not too sure but I'm kinda leaning on fully colored. But I still gotta finish Cybernetic but it's on hiatus due to burnout.
Sonic Cybernetic AU: I've actually wished for a game adaptation of the comic. Or at least... Working models people could use for other games to add them. I just think that'd be neat, but I can't code or model for anything.
Sometimes I accidentally enforce personal headcanons or personal experience to my writing... This happened recently with the "Rollercoaster" fic from the Tachophobia AU (reminder: I just like it. I did not create it. That belongs to @boom-fanfic-a-latta and @the-sky-queen.) Because I unintentionally drew from my own experiences from an amusement park. Although they were exaggerated a bit, they're still oddly close to my original memories. When I was younger, I liked going to the County Fair, and for the longest time I hated fast rides. I'd always panic on them, and my favorite ride was this caterpillar one (it was also slow paced and kinda bumpy). And Niko's experience, albeit shifted to be more like his character, was exactly how I felt on my first fast ride... Absolutely fucking terrified. I also sometimes have a nervous stammer and suffer from anxiety issues, so... I might've unintentionally written Niko to feel similarly to me at amusement parks when I was younger.
Anyway, just some random stuff, wanted to info-dump too. Cool? Okay, bye!

Another Crossover No One Asked For [AKA RotBTD]
What is up, everybody! My gals, nonbinary pals, and all other flavors in between! So~ as per usual, my brain cooked up yet another AU that is nowhere near as thought out in comparison to say, the Mystery Kids verse
In its rearing stead is Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons, one of the crossovers I consider to be the OG's. (And yes I know I said AU but shhh)
Honestly, I love the little skrunklies so have the most randomly-spewed nonsense about the crossover~
Background Lore
To start, I always see an alternate version of canon- at least in the case of Hiccup and Rapunzel where they chose to run away; with the case of Hiccup, he bonded with Toothless as usual and then prior to the match with the Monstrous Nightmare, he takes off and leaves- not feeling confident enough. (this might change, but bear with me here for now lol)
Rapunzel however, was with Flynn already but due to sudden circumstances- they were separated and it leads to Rapunzel leaving. I know she technically wouldn't do this but again, this is the first thing that came to my mind; mostly this post is just for me to ramble and then flesh it out later when the time comes.
In the case of Merida, however, my plan is that she didn't run away and did complete her canon but something happened, and she ended up... stranded. There is no reasoning to this either
Now, with our boy Jack Frost, my plan for him is that his canon will play out differently- but this will come into play later!
Something to keep in mind is this is in a completely alternate 'canon', but the point I'm trying to make: they can easily be influenced if they aren't careful, and this is important
Following Hiccup running away, he inadvertently runs into Jack who he can see- mostly due to plot-convenienced lore, since not only are there literal dragons but Hiccup is a Norse Viking and is likely to believe in spirits (which Jack Frost technically is); I like to believe both of them would hit it off, as would Rapunzel to Merida
Eventually all four meet and things start becoming a little more... concrete; Jack ends up introducing them to the Guardians, and this is where things begin to get a little... chaotic to say the least
Main Lore
Sometime during this is when the first shift in the storyline hits; in other words, I want to use Pitch Black as a possible antagonist and use this as a central arc (but this could change; again this is literally just me wanting to spew ideas out and hope something clicks)
Pitch is of course, causing his usual amount of trouble and well, it does catch the attention of the Main Four... (but then things start hitting the fan)
As a result of his shenanigans- things start getting snuffed out, somehow his power has gotten stronger; thus it's now proving a threat and if matters couldn't possibly be any worse: the Guardians (the OG four) can't figure out a way to stop it
which of course, leaves our main four to handle the situation
i do want there to be a reason to reference the villains of the respective films, whether they are going to be there as supporting antagonists to Pitch is entirely up in the air right now
Main Four + Thoughts
~ (potential spoilers/unconfirmed): the main four likely will be made into guardians during the first part of the series
~ I do want there to be symbolism across the four of them, and is going to be a prominent theme as the story progresses. Honestly for right now, that could be based on the four seasons (but it could easily be something else)
~ this is going to dive into characters acting on impulses of fear. With Pitch as one of the overarching villains, this is going to be a highly important plot element-
~ not all of the members are going to get along right off the bat- there's going to be tension, especially as no one knows what's happening but they will become allies; just give it time lol
~ i honestly do not want there to be a 'true' leader, as they're meant to work as a team and anything less than that will hinder them in the end
~ magic is going to be a prominent theme!!
~ Jack is the oldest out of everyone- I think this goes without saying, but honestly the ages of the main four goes in this order (oldest to youngest): Jack, Rapunzel Merida, and Hiccup. Part of the point is them still being young-
~ i am not going to be playing nice with these characters. the whole first arc of the series is going to be an emotional rollercoaster filled with sharp turns; with Pitch as a primary main, if that is the route I go on, there is going to be a lot of focus on fear and the lengths people are willing to go- among other themes. this is not for the faint of heart the entire time
~ i do hope this project can kick off and make a sort of trailer for it, but we'll see how that plays out-
Headcanons and Under-the-Cut Information
Concepts of magic are ridiculously important as part of the series. Elemental magic for instance- but for now, I will leave this vague, but it is going to be there. The only exception as of right now is Jack Frost, and not because there isn't a correlation to an element- it just simply is fairly obvious that he does have ice powers and will likely be connected to water coughs-
As mentioned before, this is likely going to end in the main four being guardians; however, what they'll represent will be left in the air and I'd hate to ruin the fun so soon!
While the OG guardians are going to be there, they're not as important- the main four will have to go through trials alone, there is something they have to face. what they've been avoiding this entire time
I did take some elements from old trailers I watched when I first joined the crossover, but also- all of the main four have different attributes that let them work better as a team; I'm only going to use Hiccup as reference here because this post is getting incredibly long but- he's a natural leader (and he also is an inventor)- he has a display of selfless attitude and this can easily be countered by Jack's more aloof personality though even then, our wintery child does have some growth he needs to (he's so traumatized- but he also is a protector of children, we'll save the character analysis for another day though)
I do not plan to have Rapunzel be with any of the others- romantically, at least; I can however, see her and Hiccup being good friends, they both have a shared artistic side and I want to explore this more
Jack and Merida would honestly clash so much at first- but warm up to each other later in the storyline
(Author's Ramble;
Jack and Pitch are excellent foils to each other- there's a lot I want to do with their dynamic, and how inherently Pitch is just as much needed as the Guardians are
In regard to how important the other villains of each respective fandom will be- honestly, it would be like this - most important to least: Mother Gothel, Mor' Du (?) - is that how you spell it? - and the Red Death
These characters are young and will be making tough decisions at times; they will not be perfect, they're going to make mistakes. Most of them are literal teenagers in their OG canon
I want to hopefully use my skills as an editor to make a trailer- we'll see how this pans out, but this is where I end my ramble)
Once I have a proper storyline set, I'll come back with a more coherent post
