it’s so interesting how yoshino and nao differ as people. they’re beautiful, they’re intelligent, and they hold themselves well...... but the first scene we meet nao, she’s popular but she doesn’t care for her friends/circle. she’s polite, but she doesn’t trust any of them; in fact, she thinks lowly of all of them. it’s so very different from yoshino who’s been avoided (and lowkey bullied), who was and still is very much of a loner. however, she doesn’t seek approval from anybody. she was raised pretty much to not care what anyone thinks, to live independently, but she’s not jaded tbh.
it makes me think of kirishima and how he said his type is a woman who’s envied by other women, and that reigns pretty much true for the both of them... but the key difference is that yoshino doesn’t need to surround herself with people to validate her existence (even if it’s 75% not her choice), but it’s pretty much why she doesn’t see much in kirishima, and maybe that’s why his attraction to her is so different? if these are key girls in his life, then yoshino offers more mentally/emotionally because she legitmately does not care. nao doesn’t care for him either, but she seeks him to validate her own selfish needs/worth. yoshino is aware of her surroundings and the life she was born into, but her search for normalcy and peace of mind will probably never be found in kirishima, so therefore, he will never be an option for her.
yoshino also did have a point in previous chapters that, at any time, should she return his feelings, the question of whether or not it’ll make him realize she’s really of no use to him (as she’s the prize and he’s the one chasing) will put her in a compromising and dangerous position. i can’t confirm whether his feelings are true or not yet (more kirishima backstory! yes!), but his obsession with her is very interesting for a person who makes no attachments to anybody or anything. i can’t see her falling for him either, but the both of them are more than what meets the eye— I mean, really, who knows? yoshino has definitely the option of being the dangerous one, and kirishima could be the one running by the end of it!
#raise wa tanin ga ii#these are my thoughts for the recent chapters#god. i love how every character is written in this bc u really dont know the possibilites!!?#i can see yoshino being an osaka grandma and living a normal life away from the yazuka tbh like her dad#but i also can see yoshino having a sadistic side and leaning into that the more involved she gets bc there’s also no escaping the life#shes not really driven by money or lust or ok much of anything lmaoooooo i love her ok relatable queen !#but i also think thats why her and kirishima are interesting in contrast to her and shouma#kirshima shares yoshino’s ‘ima do my own thing’ attitude like they rarely listen to anybody else unless it benefits them#whereas shouma cant really live without guidance. like he’s always doing his own thing but mind you— hes only wasting time/waiting. we#havent had much of a motive for him besides living for yoshino and thats really it#like i can see yoshino feeding into shouma’s psyche but never the other way around#bc he can give her normalcy but thats out of love for her not bc its his wish (if he even has any?)#shall yoshino go in a darker road— then tbh i can see yoshino and kirshima feeding into each other and going v bonnie & clyde on everyone#lmaoo like honestly what can u do really with a man who enjoys pain and a woman who can inflict it when she’s pushed enough into it#i mean i do love yoshino’s dumb and good character but i also read konishi’s other work and characters not being completely good is a gift
