I just saw a comment on a tik tok about jess' speech in 6x08 that was like "he only did it because he wanted to yell at her not because he wanted her to go back to school"

i am genuinely perplexed. how could they get it so wrong?

like honey, no.

He did it because in the five minutes he was back in her life, he saw instantly that she is so desperately lost and unhappy. Which by the way, no one else in her life could see, or wanted to see. Not Richard and Emily. And definitely not Logan.

He could see it because he's been there before and he needed someone to help him find his way. And now he's trying to be that someone for her.

And he doesn't do it for any selfish reason. There's no ulterior motive. I mean, what does he have to gain from helping Rory go back to school? He does it because he wants her to be happy and living to her full potential, just like she always wanted for him. She always believed in him, and now he's just trying to return the favour.

#i mean did he need to yell at her? maybe not. but it definitely did need to be said.#why was everyone else in that show too afraid to tell rory what she needed to hear?#aside from paris and mitchum. jess was the only person who was ever honest with rory and wasn't afraid to put her in her place.#they had such a crazy strong connection. they were always inspiring and pushing eachother to be their best self #which is why i ultimately believe jess was the only one who was capable of getting rory to fix her life #not once but twice #i can and will defend jess mariano until the day i die #not that i dont think he deserves some critcisms but this is not an instance #i will also never give up on the notion that rory and jess are soulmates #i could write a thesis on it. if i wasn't a lazy pos #literati #jess x rory #gilmore girls
