Very curious about your tags on frogged yarn being difficult, and need some clarification - are you saying that you always find a difference in your tension using frogged yarn, even if you've washed it to de-kink it? Or just that that's something that happens in some cases?
oh no - to clarify, yarn that's been frogged and de-kinked (by washing or by steaming as appropriate) is generally completely fine to knit with, but knitting with freshly frogged yarn can cause some problems. it's worse if the yarn was blocked before frogging, also. when knitting with curled-up yarn you generally tend to get a result that is slightly smaller and much, uh, lumpier than you do when knitting with un-curly yarn, whether that's new yarn or yarn that was frogged and treated.
