#i beat inscryption finally LOL

i love grimora so much it upsets me i cant play her game :-( she seems so fun the little bit of a boss you get with her is so boisterous and exciting its a breath of fresh air tbh i really love it i wish we got to spend time with her

I've beat inscryption but kaycees mod is beating my absolute ass! I cannot for the life of me beat it even once!! Give pro strats pls... (also I love your art so so much obviously but I also think it'd be fun to ask you about the game itself if that's ok!!! :,D)

ofc id be happy to talk about the game itself!! dont feel bad about losing to kmod its very hard on purpose because kaycee likes inflicting pain!

first of all, i learned a lot of lifesaving strats/tricks from this little fanmade kmod wiki! it gives pros/cons for each starter deck and goes into detail about how hand manipulation works and stuff, check it out for sure

that said the most important things to do are:

keep a small deck, especially try not to have more than one or two 1-blood cost cards or free cards

have a big damage card that can 1-hit KO leshy on the first turn (5 damage until you get the challenge that starts you off with 1 damage on your side, then this card should do 6 damage)

those rules probably arent as important when youre just starting and the challenges arent too bad, but eventually leshy is gonna pull a bifurcated turkey vulture on his first turn when you turn the heat up down the road so itd be wise to get into the rhythm early. im assuming you only have vanilla deck unlocked, so try buffing the wolf with bifurcated or at a good campfire

you want to keep your deck small so you can reliably pull your win card preferably on the first turn, when you have too much useless crap like pelts or extra 1-blood costs, theyre going to be pulled in your starting hand and you wont be able to do enough damage in time.

its wise to have at least two 1-Hit-KO win cards to prepare for the prospector since he wipes your board after phase one, and having a backup is valuable when you cant trim down your deck enough

try to avoid map nodes that give you cards, and try to aim for map nodes that will take away cards (or otherwise wont give you new ones). use the campfire to try and get rid of cards you dont want, try to fail cave challenges, dont buy pelts from trapper (buy his knife instead if you can), etc. if a campfire doesnt kill your card you can also exit to menu and re-enter the game to have it buff your preferred card instead lol. and if youre forced to pick a cost card, go with 3-blood cost. if youre forced to pick a family card, try to get one that you can fuse with your win card at mycos. again, you can always exit/re-enter start menu to see what your other options are

that said, ive started doing something on my own that i havent seen mentioned anywhere, and its making sure to use an item in battle if backpack is your next node, to prevent yourself from getting packrats from having a full inventory. im sure theres a strat where you can get a bunch of rats to fuse at mycos but it isnt worth it imo

that, and also try to have at least one item that can instantly kill/remove a card from leshy's board before you fight final boss leshy, like the hook, trapper knife, or scissors. ideally you want to kill his moleman so you can use your KO card before he pulls out prospector and wipes your board and things get hairy. there is a guaranteed backpack node before you fight leshy, you can actually exit and re-enter game to make sure you get the item you want if you dont feel bad about it lol (magickal bleach works against the moleman too but you have to unlock this)

getting your KO card is easier once you unlock the Blood deck (its the first you unlock i believe, after 1-2 challenges) cause it gives you a goat and moose! try to buff that moose at least once, maybe give the goat a good sigil like undying, fecundity or hoarder (hoarder can be a lifesaver if your deck is too big, its the sigil magpie has) or otherwise you can sacrifice the mole to the goat at an early sacrifice stone

(i know u know about this cause. Its a bird. And also was in the bracket if i remember right (to be fair ive been just a TAD confused as to wich bird poll blog this is ever since u changed ur url lol), but i dunno maybe i can give u some new info! And maybe not, but hopefylly you'll put up with me anyway!)

Anyway this is my FAVORITE. BIRD. And more people need to talk about her!!!!

So first of all there's the main thing they're known for - being the ONLY known vertabrate whose diet consists mainly (between 70 and 90 PERCENT!!!!!!) of BONE!!!!!!

ALSO however! This bird is POSSIBLE evidence of non-human animal using COSMETICS!!!! Y'see, they are naturally mostly white in coloration, but they roll in iron-rich mud and dust, thus dyeing their feathers a rich red color! Interestingly, Bearded Vultures, a primarily solitary and somewhat territorial animal, seem to be more respectful of and submissive to others of their species who have more red to their feathers. Though it is worth noting, as these birds live in very high altitudes, that we havent been able to observe them in the wild enough to prove the connection between dyed hue and perceived dominance.

Also i seem to remember in some poll (genuinely cant remember if it was urs or not) the Bearded Vulture was beat by a bird whose main notable trait was commiting fratricide - something that the Bearded Vulture ALSO does! The mother lays two eggs, one egg hatches about a week before the other, and upon the second egg hatching one chick (almost always the older one) kills and eats the other. I dont usually share that bit cause it would turn a lot of folks off from my Favorite Bird Ever but it really bothered me how that poll went down lol (lighthearted) (not actually mad)

Anyway, uuuuhhhh i think thats it -

So they eat bones right? And some bones are to big to swallow yeah? So, like any strong-legged bird would, they pick up the too-big bones, fly way up high, and then drop them on rocks to break them into edible peices.

Seems pretty normal yeah?

Well (allegedly) they also do that to turtles/turtles to access the meat on rare occasion.

Still not that weird? I completely agree!

However, (allegedly) a Bearded Vulture once killed a greek playwright by the name of Aeschylus by mistaking his bald head for a rock and dropping a tortoise on it from a great height!

Anyway yeah thats all the main things

I keep thinking of things I could add on but you’ve pretty much said it all! I guess I could say that the bearded vulture is a card in Inscryption? The power is equal to one half of the player’s bones. I like that little detail.

ok so like. last week i got to play inscryption for myself using my uncle's ps4 YIPPEE

im just gonna ramble about my experience playing it here becuz why not :3 this is a very long post with large walls of text so be warned! only read if you wanna hear my dumb rambling :D (SPOILERS AHEAD!)

ACT 1:

i spent. way too much time on act 1..

1st play of act 1 went on as usual, ya beat the prospector then ya get to the angler too fast too soon then you fuckinf die yadda yadda yadda

so i think the game expects you to like beat the angler on the 2nd play of act 1. and i didnt. i made total misplays (becuz im a silly idiot :D) so i died to the angler and i had to restart.. i mean at least i wont have to restart at the trapper when leshy decides to pull out 8 fucking bears :3

ok my 3rd play of act 1! wow!! i should be able to get to the trapper now right? :0 no. i died at the angler. again. GRAHH

4th play. i think this was my best play yet becuz i got lucky to have squirrels with the 3 blood sigil and i was ZOOMIN thru the bosses! i made it to the trapper so i thought i'd be able to finally win! until i accidentally. switched the squirrel totem head. with a different one. which means. squirrels did not have 3 blood anymore. so yeah i died to the trapper :3

5TH PLAY RAHHH at this point i just wanted to get act 1 over with.. i realised my items existed (i am the world's dumbest inscryption player) so i just stole one of the angler's sharks to get it over with quickly. i made it to the trapper again and WON!!

FINALLY MADE IT TO LESHY'S FIGHT! i mean i didn't rlly have a good deck so i was pretty sure i was gonna die.. and i did :] on the first phase. so back to the start for me! at least i got to listen to leshy's amazing theme..

6th play! it went on as usual except i was stuck at the trapper and had to die and restart :D i'm such a good player! /s i'm pretty sure the scrybes who were still stuck in their animal forms are disappointed in me LMAO

7th play. i'd say i had a good deck going on for me so i managed to make it all the way back to leshy's fight! i was surprised it didn't take me that long to get back honestly..

LESHY'S FIGHT! again! :D my poisonous 2/2 mantis god quickly pulled me through the first phase but sadly it had to die from the prospector turning it into gold D: (RIP mantis god..) i managed to get through the 2nd phase pretty easily becuz i had some strong cards already on the board! then it's finally time.. FOR THE MOON!! which i immediately killed with my poisonous cat :3 WOO ACT 2 BABY!!

ACT 2:

YIPPEE!!

i finally made it to act 2! i was shaking from excitement seeing all the scrybes in the intro becuz the fixation on this game is real :3 (my family thought i was weird lol)

spent like. 10 minutes deciding which deck i wanted to use.. i ended up going with leshy's becuz i didn't trust myself with using any new cards yet :D

i realised that it may have been a dumb move becuz i forgor that act 2 didn't have the option to give you squirrels n it would just give it to you randomly.. so it took me a while to get going :']

once i had more cards i had a good thing going for my deck! defeated the prospector and angler but the trapper took a few attempts.. then i defeated leshy! :D yippee!!

went to defeat grimora next becuz skeletons :3 and becuz i wanted the tomb robber card so i can use tomb robber and field mice for.. THE RAT DECK. basically you use tomb robber to summon 2 skeletons, sacrifice them to put field mice on the board and repeat until the board is full of field mice! THE RAT DECK!! (if you know specifically who i got that from then ily /p)

magnifuck was next and defeating the students was relatively easy thanks to THE RAT DECK but i completely forgor magnificus's gimmick was that he replaces your sigils so uh.. i was screwed on his fight for a while.. but i managed to defeat him anyways so fuck you magnificus :3

i saved enough foils to get ourobouros so i could do the silly OUROBOUROS GRINDING. :D i grinded my ourobouros up to 30/30 using tomb robber with the training dummy! (tomb robber is literally carrying me lmao)

P03! the silly robor!! surprisingly didnt take me that long to figure out the puzzles and the inspector and melter were defeated easily :D dredger finds the OLD_DATA then it is time to defeat P03!

P03 had me stuck for a moment with the whole convenyor belt thing until my ourobouros pulled up and i quickly turned things around :D but then i also forgor it scans your best card and copies them on it's side of the board so uh.. yeah the ourobouros grinding was coming back to bite me :skull: THANKFULLY i survived the ourobouros apocalypse and defeated P03!

the act 2 finale goes on as usual, P03 pulls out the OLD_DATA and funni robor goes spin while the whole game glitches the hell out :D (my family thought i actually did something to break the game LMAO) TIME FOR ACT 3!!

ACT 3:

funni robor. sadly didn't get to finish this act becuz i had to go home D:

YIPPEE botopia!! i was pretty excited for this act becuz i could see my beloved archivist :3

i uh.. i struggled literally the FIRST battle of P03's act and even when i was done with it, i lost on the second battle and i was stuck on the first and second battles of act 3 for a while.. fuck you P03 >:(

i only made it until the first checkpoint before i had to stop and go back home :[ no archivist..

that's about what i remember! it was painful but i had fun and i love this game sm! thank you for reading the whole thing if you did, i hope my dumb rambling wasn't too annoying :D

FINALLY BEAT INSCRYPTION

good game. i loved the gameplay of act 1 + act 2 but man the story really ended poorly. well, thats too harsh. i just hate how open-ended it is. it felt so unsatisfying, but i am overall happy with the game. it's a really close GOTY. if only i hadn't finished persona 5 royal this year, lol.

more thoughts on the game + some general video game rambles under the read more (talking about goty picks but they'll probably be outdated by the time tomorrow comes and i think on it more)

it's... prooooobably my 2nd GOTY though? if i had to exclude p5r? i know i had something behind p5r, but i cant remember it now, so i'm letting inscryption take that. actually, no. let me just check if i'm happy with that....

RIGHT! HYPNOSPACE OUTLAW! hmm... hard to say. i cared about the narrative and characters in hypnospace way more, but it also had a lame ending lol not because it was poorly written, but because with the meat and content available, its hard to write something that will feel satisfying to every player's experience and still make sense. i cared about zane and some others, but i cant have an ending about him or the gumshoe boomers and whatnot because... thats not the story being told. its just a side to the general idea of HypnOS and everything behind the site, so i dont get my extra bits of characters and things i cared about. i also didn't like the backtracking of act 3, largely BECAUSE we didn't hear from characters i cared about.

no spoilers, so i'll stop before i get ahead of myself, but even the one character i was interested in had aged up and was someone new. hard to fully invest in, even though i WAS really invested by then.

i guess, thinking about all this, i have to say inscryption takes the cake at 2nd, but its very, very close. if i could follow in my favorite video game website's footsteps, i'd say that P5R is my GOTY, inscryption is my GAMEPLAY GOTY, and hypnospace is my NARRATIVE GOTY.

well, did anyone read this? dunno. sorry if you did lol. i really liked inscryption though. i want to play kaycee's mod, and i know it clears up a lot of the lore (which... idk how to feel about). im glad i have a reason to play the game more because man was the actual deck-builder so addictive, but bRuh i hate when games give add-ons or DLC that you need to play to understand the basic story at hand. Security Breach: RUIN did this, and it's better for Kaycee's mod and RUIN that they're free, but thats the only reason im okay with them. otherwise, i hate it.

I’ve been thinking about that thing Timothy asked me about what fandoms my self-insert, Benjamin Maltee was in. So I decided to just list what fandoms I’m in in general with reasons why. This post will probably be updated as I get into more fandoms, just sayin’.

Minecraft - I like the idea of sandboxes and being able to forge your own story. And the lore is interesting. Terraria - Ditto. But I find the lore even more convoluted and even more interesting. Portal/Half-Life - Again, interesting lore. That’s the case for a lot of fandoms I’m in, I’m just realizing- TF2 - I love the goofiness it brings to the table as an FPS game of all things. It’s pretty much the only FPS I play. DSMP - I’ve kinda stepped down from this because of various dramas surrounding it, but I still really like the story that’s happened within it, interesting stuff. Hollow Knight - The lore here is so interesting and has so much potential to be expanded upon, which I’ve done with my own kingdom, Sundritout. I’m sure I’ll probably make stuff about it at some point lol Just Shapes and Beats - It has minimal story, but I’ve still been able to build off of it by so much, and that’s what I love about it. Also the music, the music fuckin’ rocks. Inscryption/The Hex - Very interesting games with interconnected lore still being expanded upon. Exciting stuff! Fortnite - Despite all the memes and shit, Fortnite is actually a really fun game for me to play, along with fun lore to explore as an added bonus! Among Us - Same as above- I’ve even made an entire AU about this game, it’s very fun stuff I might explore at some point on here. Bendy - I love everything about the games, you can just see how much love was put into every janky animation and texture. Even though there’s some drama surrounding it, it’s still a game I love. Mario - Yahoo! Despite how goofy it may sound, I’ve been having a blast piecing together this franchise’s lore with help from different sources; super interesting stuff! And with the movie fast approaching, now is the best time to get into the games. Doors - Very very fun game that I think utilizes Roblox’s game creation tool perfectly. If you changed the player character models and stuff like that, it could be its entirely own original game separate from Roblox, that’s how utterly amazing it is.

so. kaycee had to have written the coordinates of the game on that card, since they were her cards right? why did she want it to be found? why is she the only dev name that was inscrybed? did gamefuna kill her? or like. more generally was she killed, whether by gamefuna or..... the blue man? the triangle thing ??

like what was all that about. the trader’s tarot truths went a little above my head lol

what is the old data? is that why p03 wanted to unleash inscryption? did he just not care that the old data would be out there or was it intentional? i know he said in most copies of the game he would be in charge so was that it? was that all he wanted? what about the other scrybes?

i really like leshy. that end sequence as the game is being deleted really got to me man. he just wanted to play cards

grimora.... how long was this game around? she made it sound like she was so so old... and i guess floppy disks are old in a sense lol but. do the scrybes themselves come from this......... triangle? the old data? i honestly have no idea (and why was the carver the last one there?)

magnificus. what do i even say about this guy. i can’t believe he painted over the goo mage’s painting they did that for YOU................... [actually i looked some stuff up real quick and apparently magnificus in the final fight can say smth about how you let his goo mage get deleted even though you two were becoming friends? i didn’t get that dialogue but yknow. and apparently in act 1 if you have the goo jar and magnificus’s eye you can see that he wrote not to open it which could be bad but also in act 3 the goo mage does say that the pressure of that tube they’re in feels nice so????]

p03 is wild who does this guy think he is. so smug. i did enjoy act 3 and how insufferable he was LOL

also i thought it was very funny that when g0lly makes your steam friends into cards, my brother had the annoying sigil :P

basically that whole ending sequence was bananas i’m kind of reeling from it. mouth agape the entire credits just. taking it in. [in my searching i found out there’s a secret ending so i will watch a video on it if it’s not smth i can get myself.. there are a couple achievements i still need too]

and man. luke. oh my god. the ending. and when you beat act 3 grimora and you find old files of luke’s regarding his sister and how he started his card channel to deal with the grief.... man. man. luke my man. goodness gracious

oh yeah. i beat inscryption kaycee's mod last niiiiiight :] by "beat" it i mean i got all the unlocks and beat the final challenge and saw the end credits. though i didnt beat ALL of the challenges 😬 it was really fun though!! i didnt expect to make it to the end but yeah. lonely wizard dabbed. now that i dont have to meet any specific requirement, i might just screw around with different challenge combos and starter decks.... or uninstall it and finally play some of the other games in my library that i havent touched yet, lol..... ^^;
