Hi! I've seen some gifs from ep 22 or 23 of WoH (gods am I gonna eat glass by spoonfulls when it's all subbed) and it kinda gave me an idea for wenzhou promt. So, after wks passes out after spitting blood and zzs brings him to the bed, I assume that he stays by his side all night, and maybe wks's slumber is fitful and he is talking in his sleep. Probably reliving some frightful memories, of seeing his parents. He murmurs something half distinguishable and muddled by fever and sobs, something he would never show while awake. And zzs is there with him through it with soothing words/touch and maybe a promise, to help him take revenge, bc he is angry on wks's behalf and I just kinda want his pov on this whole situation. Good old hurt/comfort.
Your writing is beautiful and gives me life, while I'm loosing my sanity over these characters and this series, so thank you very much!
A/N: First up, yes you will eat glass by the spoonfuls when it is subbed 😊✌🏼Secondly, SPOILERS AHEAD because I’m as caught up as can be. The rest of this fic will be under the cut, so please do read with the knowledge that this fic contains spoilers.
Thank you for the prompt and the lovely compliment! I hope you’ll enjoy this x
Zhou Zishu can’t help the slow, creeping rise of exhaustion take root in his spine. In one night, there has been so much change and the prevailing worry remains.
Did he do the right thing to protect Wen Kexing?
Outside he can hear Ah Xiang puttering around preparing something to eat. No doubt waiting for the moment her Master awakes and is able to enjoy them. The bond between them is certainly one that gives Zhou Zishu a sense of relief. It’s nice to know that if nothing else, Wen Kexing will never truly be alone in this world.
More than Ah Xiang, he spies the shadow of Shen Shen speaking to Chengling just beyond the door. No doubt the Chevalier is giving him some advice or another, but Zhou Zishu bristles at the thought of the man staying here a second longer.
His insistence to pry is the reason why Wen Kexing is so still and quiet on the bed. His incessant need to uphold the honour of the Five Lakes Alliance is what triggered this and for that he had to leave. Zhou Zishu won’t regret the justified anger in telling him to go, not when the man couldn’t even respect Wen Kexing’s choice of name for himself.
The shock and anxiety over the way he’d coughed up blood still prickles in the back of his mind. More than that, the memory of his anguish laid bared and broken for all to see makes Zhou Zishu desperate for a way to make it better even though, logically, he can’t when this isn’t a burden that has been shared with him.
There had been madness then too, in the way those eyes dim and brim with tears, in the moments before that slip past the cracks in his mask.
Zhou Zishu had meant it when he said he wanted to see his heart so that he can help him. What he hadn’t expected was just how much pain and trauma that’s been woven into every sinew. Whatever horrors he is seeing in his dreams, maybe one day they will share that yoke together.
Holding on to Wen Kexing’s hand, he sends a quiet prayer for their journey back to the Four Seasons Manor. Let nothing else come in their way and their path be smooth.
The gods owe them that much, at least.
