I don't think this means anything, but along with the album cover colours getting darker with each successive variant that others have pointed out, one thing that jumped out at me is how the cover photos are more revealing of her with each one as well.

The first one her face is hidden 1989-style, the second one her face is partially obstructed by her arm and hair, the third one she's facing the camera in side profile (also notably no longer in bed).

It's probably just because all the photos are going to be brilliant because Beth Garrabant is incredible and they're just pretty to look at and they wanted to give contrast to each one, but it does kinda feel like she's stepping out of the metaphorical dark with each version.

Like, she's gone from being curled in bed to contemplating getting up to stepping outside but still covered in (his*?) shirt to...

What i really love about arcane besides EVERYTHING is that women are treated like real characters with all their flaws and virtues, they are so diverse and on various positions, with various roles, they are all drop dead gorgeous in their own way and badass but can still have a real ugly cry like wow...... it's sad it took so fucking long to see a cast like this with so many strong women in it, and we still don't see it often but man it means so much to me... cheers

I haven't found myself feeling robbed of strong female characters in a long time, but I get what you mean, it's rare that they are so front-and-center in a big name action series. There is so much care put into making them badass but also humanizing them and treating them with care. I think it's shown in the conscious decision of how all the designs, male and female, are drop dead gorgeous, but with a lil imperfect detail. Some characters have asymmetrical eyes, some crooked mouths, eyebags, tooth gaps, you name it. It is so much more interesting and fun than just the same "small nose big eyes full lips" pattern for women and "square jaw big muscles" for men
