ding you hear your phone. a message from ‘yuta🤍🖤’ lit up on your screen.

‘xxxx xxxxxxxx street’

‘omw’ you sent back and went to your car and put the address in your phone gps, heading to his house.

once you got there you got out the car and walked up to the door. you knocked on the door and turned to look at the neighborhood. it was your average street. nothing was off about it. you heard a door open and turned to meet eyes yuta. his eyes were still throwing you off did they hold so much power?

“come in” he moves to the side to welcome you. you smile and walk in. the house was a standard house there was nothing out of the ordinary. there were no family pictures there was only artworks and paintings on the wall.

he directed you to the living room.

“are you okay with making the poster on the floor? it would be easier then doing it on the table”

“yeah i’m fine with the floor”

he grabs the poster and writing/drawing utensils, laying them both on the floor. you stood by the entrance to living room awkwardly waiting for him to finish or welcome you over. as if on cue he looks over at you.

“are just gonna stand there and let me do all the work?” he smiles, you couldn’t help but smile back and walk over to him. you sit down and get to work.

throughout the time you guys were working yuta kept a conversation with you, wanting to know different things about you like where your from, your favorite ice cream, your style of music. basically everything about you. you asked him questions too wanting to know more about him. you wanted to become friends with the mysterious boy.

“wheres your bathroom?” you asked, you’d been holding it in for a little bit due to the interesting conversation but you could no longer hold off on it.

“if you make a right it will be the first door on your left”

“alright thanks” you stand up and follow his directions, opening the door and there was the bathroom. it was decorated beautifully. ‘was this whole house his?’ you were gonna have to ask him once you got back.

after you finished you walked out and closed the door behind you, turning your head tot the left you couldn’t help but notice a huge painting on the wall. you know you shouldn’t walk around someones house but you couldn’t help it. so you walked straight down the hall to another open room.

it was stunning everything about it, the colors, design and décor were all stunning. you walked around slowly taking everything in at once until you saw an opening to a small room. the room had red dancing along the walls from the red light bulb. it gave you chills.

there were pictures and lines connecting to other pictures along with sticky notes. you walked closer so then you were standing in the room. you wished you hadn’t gotten any closer because now you could see the photos clearly, they were photos of you.

he was following you, everywhere. the mall, the school, when your walking on the sidewalk, in your car, even while your in your house.

you were scared, the more you looked at the pictures the more you were terrified. you had to get out of here and fast. you turned on your heel and was met with dark eyes. you screamed and he immediately covered your mouth. you started to freak out and pulled at his hand. tears leaking out your eyes.

“i’m not gonna hurt you just stop screaming please” he said over your screams and you just obliged. you were gonna find a way out of here.

“let me explain before you try to run away alright?” you nodded, still cautious of him. he takes his hand off of your mouth and then sighs.

“i’ve been following you because you’re my soulmate” you snorted not believing him. that was a terrible lie all he had to say was that he was a stalker and the conversation would've been over.

“i’m not lying to you. your really my soulmate. would I be able to do this if I was lying?” he shuts his eyes and then opens them again. his eyes shift to an emerald green and then back his natural eyes.

“what the fuck?! what are you?” you look him up and down.

“allow me to properly introduce myself. hello im nakamoto yuta I have the power to hypnotize people and make myself invisible-“ and he does just that. you furrow your eyebrows and reach out to touch him but your hand goes right through. he then reappears in the spot you swiped your hand through.

“woah..” you widen your eyes. “that’s so cool”

“and I have the power to heal but I can only heal my soulmate”

“so do it. heal me” you say to him. if he was being serious about the whole soulmate thing you wanted to see some proof.

“well first I have to create a wound. follow me” he guides you to the kitchen and goes to the counter pulling out a small sharp knife and walking towards you.

“may i?” he hold out his hand and you cautiously place your hand in his. he holds it gently and creates a small slit in your hand, blood immediately pooling to the surface. you hiss at the feeling and bite your lip. his eyes shoot up to your face and then back down at your hand. he places the knife down on the counter and brings your hand to his mouth. you look at him curiously, you were confused to say the least.

he licks the blood carefully and kisses the spot gently. you gasp softly out of pain and pleasure and immediately the wound closed as if he’d never cut into your hand. you gasp softly and look at your hand in astonishment. how was that possible? we’re you dreaming? you pinched yourself hard and hiss nope not dreaming.

you look up at him blinking multiple times, just trying to wrap your head around what was happening.

he picked the knife up off the table and put it in the sink trying to give you some time to think about it. it was a lot to take in he knew that. he didn’t want you to reject him. he had spent years looking for you and here you were standing in his house, in the same room as him, breathing the same air. he was gonna find a way to keep you around.

“and you can’t do that with anybody else?” you asked, your brain was still fuzzy.

“nope i’ve tried it and it hasn’t worked” he turns around to face you.

“wow.. what else can you do?” you wanted to know more what he told you was starting to become more believable.

“nothing else really. I do have something for you though” he walks closer to you so that he was standing in close proximity. he gently grabbed your hand and pressed his palm against yours. you felt a shock on your hand just like before when you shook hands. you hiss and pull your hand away, holding it.

“what was that?” you ask.

“it was your magic” he looked into your eyes.

“I have magic?” you looked at him agape. “I feel like your playing with me” all of it was hard to believe but he was showing you the proof. it was hard to take in all at once.

“i’m not I swear. you were killed back in the 1500s so our master had me take your magic for safe keeping and with our combined magic i had an immortality spell made for us so then once I found you again i made sure i would never gonna lose you” he said with a serious face. you stared at him blankly and then busted out laughing. he furrowed his eyebrows at you.

“that’s a funny once now quit playing and tell me the truth” you pushed his shoulder playfully.

“I am telling you the truth. here look-“ he held his palm close to yours. “don’t pull away i'm gonna give you your magic back and restore your memories. it’s gonna hurt but try and stay still” he pressed his palm to yours and you immediately felt pain shoot through your hand, you bite your lip harshly trying to withstand the pain. the shocks reached throughout your body and you scream in pure agony as the memories start to flash in your head.

from the first sight of life all the way until you met yuta for the very first time. a memory of when yuta kissed you for the first time, to when you guys got married. there was a vivid memory of you guys laying in bed together whispering sweet nothings to when you guys made love for the first time.

and finally the end of your life when you got shot. yuta ran to your side and caught you, he laid you down on the ground and brushed the hair out of your face. he had tears in his eyes as he looked at your lifeless body. ‘withdraw her magic and keep it until you find her again’ a voice said and yuta did just that. “i’ll find someone who can make a spell for us. i will see you again, i promise” a tear rolled down his face as he kissed your forehead and with that your body disintegrated into the air.

you still had the same body but you looked slightly different, the way your hair was done and the way you dressed looked like you came from the 1500s. he still looked the same expect for the clothes and hair. you both were a modern version of the memories since it was the 2000s.

at last your screams stop, the shocks stopped and you dropped to your knees. that was the last memory and with that your mind went blank. you opened your eyes as tears fell down your face. yuta falls to the ground too.

“do you see that i’m not lying now? i’m immortal now and once i give you your magic back you will be too” he holds your face and wipes your tears. you nod without saying a word. you were speechless how could this be. ‘is this why he’s been following me around’

“yes, i’ve been following you everywhere because you’re the love of my life. I had to find a way to get closer to you without scaring you but I guess that failed because you're scared” he pulls his hands away and sighs standing up and walking away.

“you can read my mind?” he stops in his tracks and doesn’t move.

“yes I can and you can read mine”

“how can I do that?” you ask. you wanted to know how to use your powers at least.

he walk back to you and sits on the floor.

“just focus on me” he says and you do that but nothing happens.

“nothing”

“okay try looking at my forehead and just channel your emotions” so you try that, looking up at his forehead. you narrow your eyes.

“nope” you say and he sighs.

“okay.. don’t freak out but I wanna see if this works” he pulls you to him gently and shifts you onto his lap.

“yuta..”

“trust me” and you don’t say another word. “now look into my eyes like when we collided in the hallway” you gaze into his eyes and he does the same back. your eyes soften at his. you looked at him in a different light now. this guy was your soulmate and husband who loved you very much, at least that’s what you saw in the memories. you didn’t want to trust him but your heart was telling you something different. you started to lean in slowly without noticing it. ‘why did he have to be so attractive’ he smiles slightly, he leans in too. ‘shes so adorable’ you hear his thought.

“I heard that” you say hovering over his lips. he laughs loudly throwing his head back, pulling you out of your trance. you looked at him and smiled. ‘he was so beautiful, undoubtedly beautiful.’

“am i?” he asks and smirks. you immediately hit his chest.

“get out of my head” you squeal as he flips you on your back gently so he’s hovering above you.

“nope. your all mine again… that’s if your okay with that?” he looks up at you. you didn’t know how you felt about the whole thing. you were just gonna see what happens and let things take it’s toll.

“idk yet I still have a lot of things to process” you hold his face. it felt so familiar, he felt familiar and not like a stranger you weren’t afraid of him anymore. it was you knew him inside and out.

“kiss me” you whisper. you wanted to see what they felt like, if his lips were familiar too.

he froze in his place. “are you-“ “yes i’m sure now kiss me”

he leaned down looking at your lips and then moving his eyes to yours before looking down at your lips again. and there it was, his lips connected to yours. you felt a million shocks run through your body but they didn’t hurt. it felt so good. his lips felt like home.

he was kissing you so gently but you didn’t want to be gentle anymore so you switched it up by biting his lip. the red fluid pooled to the surface of his lip making him pull away, he touched his lip seeing the bright red color on his finger.

“so we’re biting now huh?” he asked playfully making you giggle, you bit your lip and shrugged.

“are you gonna fix it?” his face gets serious again.

“how do I fix it?” you gulp.

“just like how I fixed your wound. lick and kiss” he’s now straddling you.

you grip his waist as you lean closer and do as he says. he separates his lips, you turn your head and carefully lick the blood of his bottom lip. which oddly tasted good. you then seal it with a kiss. you pull back and watch it heal.

you smile widely, you thought it was so cool how you could just heal him like that.

“do you want to know what else you can do?” he smiles. you immediately nod.

you could get used to this.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a few weeks, but haven’t really had the chance, and figure I might as well do it now. Writing out things about how and why I relate to/like characters is something that’s always helped me when creating my own projects, both character-based fanfiction and original stuff because it shakes out what appeals to me and why.

Anyways, this is a specific analysis of why IZ matters to me, a lot. Strap in y’all, you’re getting context. 1500 words of it. Warnings for uh.... bullying, mental illness, that whole shebang. If you could like if you read I’d appreciate it.

It’s a bit difficult to detangle exactly how you felt years ago, especially when you had undiagnosed mental illness at the time. The concrete details are this: I found IZ when I was about 11/12 years old, because some kids in my class wore Gir shirts a lot. (Thanks, guys, for being polite and explaining it to me when I asked about them!)

Something about it just clicked. The only fandom I’d been involved in before that point was Sonic, and then, it was pretty one-sided: I would consume content, but only occasionally made any of my own, and I never talked to anyone. It mattered to me sure, probably almost as much as IZ did, but for different reasons that aren’t really relevant here.

To set the scene: I was 12, bullied, depressed because of said being bullied, anxious for the same reason, and the only friends I had were all just the losers nobody else would talk to. One regularly physically pushed me around and bit me and I took it because everyone else thought I was a weirdo freak, and the other two were mostly just her friends and tolerated me. (Sidenote: Turns out she had mental stuff of her own, but geez, she needed to be helped because it was never a secret she was hurting me.)

Teachers were somewhat torn on me most of the time, because I was clearly very smart and participated in class often, but had a trigger temper that other students used to bully me, and often the teacher’s response was to blame both of us if someone riled me up to the point of snapping back. I still have problems with trusting any authority figures with any problems because of this.

I was also taught to not trust people who are being nice to me, because again, I was desperate for social interaction that wasn’t Bitey the One Friend, and that was used to pretend to compliment or talk to me and then laugh behind my back about it. I’m still seriously working through this one. I probably should talk to someone about it, honestly.

So, uh. Yeah, with that as a guideline, it’s not really a surprise I latched on to IZ. Dib was the smart yet neurotic one that was desperate to prove himself to adults that never listened, and Zim was loud and aggressive and everyone seemed to hate him even as he stumbled through everything, never really realizing just how broken he was. I’d never seen characters like that before, and I especially related to Dib.

The setting also was something I hadn’t really seen before, and it got to me in a way I can’t fully explain. It was dirty and angry and stupid and sad and felt the way I did. This was how the world came across to me at the time, as something broken and unfair, with everyone in power either willfully ignoring me yelling that something was wrong, that either everything around me was broken or I was.

I joke constantly about Dib’s Birthday, the first IZ fic I ever wrote. I’m probably never going to reread it and it’s going to rot unfinished on ffnet until the servers crash, but I found a doc where I went through the first two chapters before dying of Old Writing-Itis, and... honestly, from what I do remember? It was using the characters specifically to work through this stuff that I didn’t have any other outlet for at the time. I had a brother who knew/cared so little about me that years later he told me he never knew I ever had any problems despite the fact that I was by 14, before I started getting meds and therapy, somewhat suicidal. (The bullying had eased as I’d forced myself to blend into the background and no one cared about me anymore, but the ‘no friends and depression’ hadn’t.)

And this is where we get to the shipping stuff. ‘The world is terrible and our brains are fucked and kinda broken but at least I have you, someone who understands me’ honest to god was a lifeline at that point to me, and I don’t think anything else could have delivered it quite like Za/Dr did. I don’t doubt a lot of the fics were people channeling stuff, same way I was. I’ve noticed that, much like Yugioh, this is a fandom with a lot of people that have Stuff Going On they put in, because mental illness is a theme in the show, as little as it’s thoughtfully explored. Sort of a ‘well, we’ve got the blocks, let’s take it and use it to build our own catharsis.’

I’ve also noticed I tend to keep them the age I am- when I was about 13, they were show-aged. The one I found from when I was 14, I made Dib 14/15. And I’ve expressed I kind of regret not making Dib in AiP match my age now- 20, going on 21.

I feel like I’m exaggerating a little, and maybe I am since this is my experiences told through the funhouse mirror of fractured memory, but I also talked to myself. Like, a fair amount. Out loud. I could go entire days without talking to any other students unless I was forced to, because no one would ever talk to me first or respond if I tried, so I was sort of in a ‘why even bother?’ mode by freshman year. Everyone knew me, and already was afraid of or weirded out by me because of how often I was in and out of the principal’s office. 

(The biggest chunk of the bullying, besides name-calling and the other typical stuff, was riling me up and then getting me in trouble for snapping back. It was the same people over and over, so it took less and less to get me angry over time, so by fourth or fifth grade I was going off over seemingly nothing, but really, it was just piling a bunch of sticks on top of every other thing that had already been hurled at me, so I looked like rigged dynamite but they never looked who was lighting the matches.)

JTHM was pretty important to me for similar reasons as IZ, although that was more catharsis, the idea of just being able to get rid of people who were hurting me. I’ve said before the ‘I wish someone would just turn me off and... fix me’ panel was another one of those ‘holy shit someone else knows this feeling’ moments.

Things finally started turning around for me at about 15 when I just broke down crying at a family event and my mom pulled me aside and I was sent to therapy and got medication. Long story short, it worked, and I’m mostly better on the depression front.

Bringing this back around to IZ, it’s been kind of incredible to come back and have the fandom be- well, honestly, I can’t ever remember it being this active. I was terrified to interact directly in a way that wasn’t reading things and pushing my own content out into the void, not talking to anyone one on one. By 13, I was better about it, and soon before 14 was when I made my tumblr and started actually talking to people. I recently stumbled across age discourse from that time through tumblr’s ‘more posts like this’ function and it kind of surprised me, but I guess it’s always been there.

I’ve said before that when I remove the rose-colored glasses, my experiences weren’t always great. FC hate was something that kept me from making ocs until just a few years ago, and shipping hate was often homophobia-related. But death threats and shit were not as common, nor was the rigid 'if you like this you’re a terrible person’.

I’m just gonna end this with saying yeah, without this series I may not have had the feeling of being genuinely understood or the outlet I needed for a bunch of shit going on at the time, so IZ is really really important to me and people who shit on a ship that helped me a lot because of something that the creator said nearly 20 years after the fact can eat my ass.

My Tumblr Birthday!

Sooooo according to my archives and such, exactly one year ago today I became a member of the bbs fandom! It’s been a hell of a year, I will tell you that. 

So just some thoughts about this weird ass journey, if you’d be so kind to humor an old woman.

I kind of remember coming into this fandom not really expecting much? Like I kinda squirmed my way in thinking that it’d be really cool to like, read other peoples stories and get to know everyone. I don’t really know how, but I got attention because of my Cops AU idea that sort of caught wildfire. Then I posted my first little stories about Christmas and such before my bigger story, Want You,  and I was so amazed by the love and affection it got on this platform (I put it on Ao3 but it just wasn’t the same). 

I also remember how stunned I was with 100 followers? I felt like I had reached my peak and I couldn’t really go any higher. Again, I managed to get lucky by making some really good friends at the start of my fandom life and kind of being able to joke around and gain attention from them. It wasn’t any super big, but I was thankful for the time they gave me. Watching Deli draw, getting to know Kiwi, admiring Bels and Ether and Grace’s works. It was all so wonderful! 

Then around January, Sherry sent me a message asking me to help with an idea about a BBS shipping server. And it was crazy how that changed my life. The server brought good and bad things out, and I won’t say I never thought of just tossing in the towel and leaving. But I’m so happy that I stayed! I met people like Sei and Shorty and Pandy and Cana and Moon through my server. I got to see them grow as people and shared laughs with them. I also got to open up a bit and learn that it was okay to not be perfect. Because damn do I want to be perfect. But they supported me there, and evern at my darkest point,those who I never thought would stick up for me did. 

I learned what it felt like to be hated. I learned what it felt like to have people who didn’t know me, know my story, know my past and know my insecurities, rip me apart and make me feel worthless. I learned that sometimes, simply having a different opinion about a ship or a boy could make the nicest of people reject you. I learned that sometimes, people you thought would always be supportive and understanding of you could turn on you and never speak to you again. It was weird, knowing that despite the followers numbers that grew and the asks/fans who reached out to me and told me how ‘inspiring’ i was, I could feel so empty. To this day, I’m still struggling with this concept. I wanna figure myself out, and how I got to where I am while also not knowing who I am.

I started up one of the coolest projects in my life here; Libahunt. I’ve written stories before, don’t get me wrong. I’ve written stories for bigger fandoms, with more comments, more kudos, more views. BBS is a small time fandom, so I knew what I was getting into. But man, for such a little place, y’all have big hearts. The love, support, and just damn attention I got for this story was amazing. The fanart? I cant even begin to tell you how much that all means to me. Every time I see a piece, my heart melts to think I got to inspire someone. Hearing people freak out in discord, seeing the reblogs and comments you make...that’s all I want in life. So honestly, thank you all for making me realize how much I love this story and helping me get my ass back in gear to write it properly. 

Kind of on the same topic, I really got to thank some super important people for just...being there for me. I can’t list EVERYONE because jesus I would be here forever, but these ones just...they really stick out for me.

@firstaidquarters: My writing wife, half of my brain, my HC partner in crime, honestly one of the best people I’ve met. Ever. Like, do you get how much you mean to me? How you just make my world a better place? If I’m mad or sad or hyper or just being fucking stupid, you’re there. You literally spent 28 hours helping me write a story without ever asking anything in return. I wanted to quit, I wanted to throw my computer and never look at it again. But you just...sat there and kept me going. And now? It’s fucking amazing because of you. And I never have to explain myself to you. You just get it. And God I can’t even say enough how much our HCing has been a blessing. I don’t even think you realize that without you, I wouldn’t still be in this fandom. I cannot thank you enough, even if you created that wretched Minibat. 

@kihorri : We weren’t close originally but jesus you came in like a wrecking ball, eh? My life has been crazy since I did that Banana Bus Tales thing with you. You helped get my name on the map. And for the past couple months, I’ve really adored the frienship we’ve created. Our DM messages are probably enough to get us sent to hell, but I’m okay with that. Each time you tell me you’re reading my story, I melt. Like to think you’d waste your time on me? To get to joke with you about ‘certain’ types of stories and watch you draw silly pictures...it makes my world! You drive me up a wall every way you can, you make me cry from your beautiful art, but you could put the pencil down and never draw again and I’d still wanna talk to you every day. Even with your horrible sleep schedule. 

@mssjynx : YOU! God you are a menace. Sneaky other writing wife. But like, one of the best writers in the BBS/Misfits fandom. You make me wanna read angst. Do you know how hard that is?!?! Like jesus man, you were so amazing with your cute stuff and your sad stuff. And you’re just as wonderful outside of your stories. I give you shit, I pull your tail, and we bicker like old women, but you are one of the sweetest people I got to meet in this fandom and even if I threaten it, I’ll never divorce you ( I mean you killed all the lawyers so...). 

@piwiskiwi: My libahunt artist! Your work is AMAZING. And you are just so prescious? I dont get to talk to you as much as I want to, but you were one of the first people I really connected to in this fandom and you don’t understand how much joy your art brings me. Like, you’re a rock star. You helped me at the start of Libahunt when it was just an idea, you helped create these pictures that others now use as references. You’re kind and funny, and even if you feed into Bel’s crazy ship, you’re the best partner for Libahunt I could ask for. 

Honestly, there’s so many others! I wanna write you all something because you all have changed me in one way or the other. But I’d be here all night and I don’t wanna take up all of your time. So just know this: You all made me who I am. Without you, the person reading this right now, I wouldn’t be Crim. That means the world to me. So, you mean the world to me. Thank you for being around for my first year here. And I don’t know if you guys will care, or if anyone even remembers memories with me or if I’m just an author you read, but I just...thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. <3

I swiped right on everyone on Tinder (yes, everyone)

I previously began this project in my first year of college, I was 18 and beginning my studies as a theatre/biology double major at The Ohio State University. Shortly after reaching 1500 matches, I began to fear for my safety, and aborted the social experiment right after the beginning of my second semester. Now, being in my third year and two years older, I thought it would be a good idea to restart my project in hopes of gathering information on interesting people and (maybe) even finding someone I like. I am a seasoned user of Tinder, averaging about seven dates, two casual hookups, and even a couple of possible relationships. I am starting this article at the milestone of my 2000th like, a phrase I never thought I would be writing in a Word document while sitting on my mother’s couch. And yes, I swiped right on EVERYONE, minus a select few who were maybe going to compromise my safety (exes, past abusers, etc.). After almost a month of the project, I feel the need to talk about my findings and what this could possibly mean for the future of casual dating.

                   This project revival began just before the new year of 2017 after a stimulating conversation with my roommate about crazy dates and exes (Tinder or otherwise). I had been an on/off Tinder user for about 2 years, only rendering it useless when I was monogamous or having one of my “independent woman who don’t need no man” emotional bouts. My roommate, on the other hand, was a more recent victim of the hells of Tinder; finding it tough to convince herself to keep using the app for the chance of clicking with someone. We discussed writing a Tinder episode for a small show we were collaborating on outside of our academics, a project we were using to showcase the actuality of college life. This was the catalyst for both of us remaking both of our profiles and PAYING for Tinder Plus. We both signed up for a month membership, offering us a whole slew of new options for the app, like boosts during peak hours and unlimited likes. We decided to make hyperbolic versions of ourselves, seeing how much a man could handle before questioning his swipe decision. My roommate’s bio said, “hit me with the shocker”, so let’s just say that we were not setting ourselves up for success. We began swiping and found ourselves reeling in the instant gratification and validation in our attractiveness as women. The only song that was completely applicable at this point was “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls (I wish they made more music). We were quickly up to 500 matches after a few hours, and the messages were flowing in so fast that we had to put our phones on “Do Not Disturb”. Some of my messages were questioning the whole anal fisting thing, many others were ultimately willing and on board to participate in a night of intimate annihilation. However, most the messages were duds like “hey” or “wyd” BUT I have included some mighty fine gems here for your satisfaction.

  Let me just say up front, I matched with some real creeps, like people you see on the street and think “this person looks like they might murder me” or “I am getting a very strange vibe from you so I am hoping you can hear my thoughts and hear me say, you look lovely today!!”. People on campus began to recognize me; sometimes I would walk to class only to read a message 20 minutes later saying:

This began to make me paranoid; these men recognized me, but I would not be able to pick any of them out of a lineup. I walked around campus, locking eyes with people on my way to class and wondering if they knew me. My roommate had ceased her part of the project after beginning to feel freaked out by the sheer number of men who were actively trying to meet her. I did not judge her for this intelligent course of action. After being picked out a few times on campus, I took a short hiatus from my swiping and did not message anyone back for a couple weeks. Some men were belligerent, insulting me and my attitude after a day or two of not messaging back. A few men were persistent, messaging days, sometimes hours, in a row in hopes that I would respond with some witty banter. With 2000 people, it was very difficult for me to keep track of who I was responding to and who was sending me new messages. Tinder’s infrastructure was literally unable to handle the amount of matches I had, showing that people had messaged me when they had not and losing some of my matches in the void. After my hiatus, I was a little sobered to the whole experiment; I had lost my initiative to continue swiping and accumulating more messages for SCIENCE. Although, not everything was terrible with this project since it allowed me to get to some really cool people faster by bypassing Tinder’s match algorithm/design.

                   In total, I gave my number to and/or met three of the matches I accumulated during my second run of the project. I hooked up casually with one man, talk continuously with another, and am casually dating my most recent, normal match. The struggle with this is, how do you tell someone that you swiped right on everyone, even them? Does this emotionally compromise the other person? Does it bring to question your sanity and way of living when they find out that you have been messing with men on a dating app for over two years? I have told two of the three men about my project, and they did not seem to have an issue with it, albeit maybe a twinge of judgment and pain at the initial reaction. And I feel bad, I really do. I know that many of these men are just looking for casual fun, or even serious relationships. One guy even told me that I was his first match after a few months of using the app, something I had never thought about over the time span of my experiment. But, it is hurtful, what I did and am currently doing. Something as simple as a right swipe is enough to be emotionally affecting to another person, and that sucks. BUT, a lot of these men are uncool, many of them making attempts to sexually harass me, ask for nude pictures, or find out where I live. It does not absolve me of guilt, or give me a reason to continue my swiping extravaganza.

 The whole point of the experiment, for me, was to learn about the app, and the people on it. It is such a dark and mysterious topic, who uses Tinder, and what are they there for? No one wants to admit to using the app, but why? Why is our generation so afraid to admit that they don’t use “traditional” methods to find companionship? Is it because of past generations judging us for using these apps? Or is it because we feel ashamed or unable to find love in the ways our parents did? I still do not know the answer, and I do not know why most people use Tinder. Many men asked me, “so why are you here??” because there is no ONE answer to this question. Tinder is not defined in its usage as a casual dating app, or a serious one either. I have friends who have had long, fulfilling relationships from Tinder, and others who have vowed to never use the app again because of their experiences. We have reached a new age of dating, there is more criteria than ever before when looking for a possible partner. Politics, religion, values, ethics, academics, feminism, emotional/mental health, these factors now play a role in today’s age of companionship that they may not have previously. My mom is a liberal Democrat from Michigan, my stepfather a conservative Republican from Ohio. These two would most likely never be together today if their Tinder bios had been available up front with this information. I know, personally, I would never be able to date someone who was not a feminist or unwilling to stand with my social values. This information was not as readily available to past generations as it is to millennials. And that’s a good thing, being able to feel someone out before emotionally opening yourself. We have immediate access to Facebook likes, Instagram posts, tweets, and other things that can help us determine the personality of the person on the screen.

We have a lot to learn about these new apps as means of finding love or friendship. And while this experiment may prove futile in the face of emotions and statistics, I have learned a lot about myself and what I want in a potential partner. I know that I need someone who is willing to deal with my past of being emotionally abused, and I need to be willing to open myself more to someone. I have found out a lot through reading messages from men who were outright asking me for naked pictures in their first message. I have learned that a lot of men in college are unsure, unconfident, and very willing to put themselves on the line. I hope, from this project, that we can all learn, together, how our new age of dating works; but, for now, we are all trapped in the hell of “no labels” and constant wondering if we are normal in our ways. My life radically changed one and a half years ago while a sophomore in college.

I was studying to get a communications degree in marketing and sales, but to be honest I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do yet in life. I grew up in Riverside, California and moved to Colorado to go to school. Little did I know that one night and one conversation would change so much of my life.

I stopped working for $11 an hour at the school book store and started “working” for hundreds of dollars an hour… as an escort.

How It All Started

My friends and I would meet up at my house just off campus each Friday night after class. We would hang out and have dinner and then go out to dance and play. On occasion we would run into another group of girls and hang out together. They were a lot of fun and we all became friends. She replied to me, “Let’s do it, I go every single week!”

At the end of the night, as we headed home, I tried to catch up to her and asked her where she worked and she said, “All over the place.”

She smiled and got into the car with her friends. A little later that night she texted me and said to come by her place Sunday afternoon.

I showed up to her house and her roommates said that they thought she was still asleep. I went upstairs to her room and knocked on her door and actually woke her up. It was 3 p.m.

She sat up in bed and said that she had been working all night long and got home just after breakfast.

“So you work nights?” I asked.

She crawled out of bed and went over to her laptop and told me to come over.

She then pulled up a website and there she was in multiple selfies posing in lingerie and showing off her body and long blonde hair. She called herself Nickie in her ad and said that she was ready to help guys release the stress from their lives and could discretely make their worries disappear, or something to that manner. She said she was strictly an escort and charged $200 for a half-hour or $300 for an hour for her “companionship.”

I was shocked.

“You’re a prostitute?” I remember questioning loudly.

“I’m an escort and I met up with three guys last night. Two businessmen in town at their hotels, and then stayed overnight with one of my regulars at his vacation home,” Nickie said. “I get $,1500 for staying overnight.”

She walked over to her drawer and opened it up and pulled out a pile of cash.

“That’s just last night; we should go and buy something.”

We went to Nordstrom (always my weakness) and she picked up a new Michael Kors hand bag.

Never In My Dreams

I left Nickie after we grabbed a bite to eat, and just sat there on my bed not being able to get our conversation out of my head. I remember thinking about all the money she had and how easy it seemed for her, but most of all how it didn’t seem to bother her at all. She made more in a night than I did part-time in months. I had bombarded her with questions while shopping and at dinner.

“How did you get into this?”

“How long have you been doing this?”

“Does anyone else know?”

“Aren’t you grossed out by the old guys?”

She also said that there are tons of guys that travel into town for conventions and work that look for a quick hook-up while they are away from home.

After a couple more conversations with her I finally decided to give it a shot. I wanted to make thousands of dollars just like her.

My First Ad

I took so many pictures and spent so much time writing my first ad. I love taking pictures of myself, but it is awkward to take pictures half naked and then post them online. What if my mom saw it or my little brother? Even more awkward was trying to figure out a price of what your body is worth. I called myself Monica.

I got a burner phone and set up a message like Nickie had recommended “Hi boys, I’ve been waiting for your call, I’m excited to see you soon. Keep calling.” You can’t go and meet with clients and have your phone buzzing and ringing all night so I just tell them to keep calling and I can answer in between visits.

I quickly found out that guys don’t read the ads as much as they look at pictures. I changed my hair color to blonde because Nickie said that blondes generally can charge more money and they are in more demand. I put the same price as Nickie for my time with $200 for a half-hour and $300 for an hour. I also upsell them as well once I’m in the room with them, especially young guys.

I got arrested during a sting about seven months into it at a hotel because I got sloppy and didn’t verify a guy who said he was just in town on business. But stings don’t happen too often because police simply don’t have the time and resources to keep up. It’s just a class B misdemeanor for prostitution and a $1,000 fine, but when you make twice that on a Friday or Saturday night it’s not enough to stop the business.

The Tricks of the Trade

You can’t just call and show up and drop your pants. For some girls there is a two-step verification process to protect ourselves from psychos. We give you an address to show up to, and then once you arrive we give you the real address.

I prefer to only verify guys online or from references from other girls they have been with. Some guys freak out that we want their real name and where they work or even their LinkedIn profile, but we have to watch out for ourselves.

When you show up to our place that is called an “in” call. I charged thousands of dollars for a weekend getaway. Sometimes it was actually fun to go out of town and be treated well and come away with so much money. Sometimes it was boring as hell getting stuck with someone with no personality and pretending to like them for a few days, but the money made it tolerable. I dreaded going to dinner for their work parties because a barely 20 year old girl with an old guy makes people assume I was being paid to be there. And even though I was, I still didn’t like being dressed down by the other women.

The A-Holes

On occasion some men treat you like $hit. I’m not here to say that being an escort is an amazing job and everything goes great because it doesn’t. I know others who have been physically assaulted and come home with bruises everywhere. I’ve been lucky for the most part. But on occasion there are a-holes who think because they pay you they can do whatever they want to you and threaten to call the police if you don’t do what they want. I don’t have many bad experiences, but have been abused a few times, more emotionally and verbally than physically.

There are nights I have come back home wondering what I am doing and saying I’m never going to do it again. I didn’t want to do this forever and lately I find there are a lot more girls getting into the business which has created a lot of competition, at least in my area. Younger, taller and bigger boobs are tough to compete with. I’ve lost a few of my regulars who want to try someone new, and I’ve lost out on some other big money that used to come in each month too. The better the economy the more money there is to be made, especially in big cities, and the more folks are jumping in the escort business.

Tons of Fake Pictures Online / Girls That Rob

The interesting thing about the business of escorting is that most of the girls online are total fakes. If you see a super-hot girl in Denver, chances are that her pictures also show up on sites in Vegas, Austin, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and more.

Girls post hot pictures and often times someone else shows up. Bait and switch happens all the time, or the pictures are a few years old when they were 15-20 pounds lighter.

I mentioned upselling as well. Be aware that girls will come in and drop our clothes, and then tell you if you want more than a nice look you’re going to have to pay extra. We’re sales people, and if you want more then you have to pay for it.

Also be aware that you shouldn’t have any other cash lying around or a wallet in the open, because when you are told to get in the shower, that girl might just go through your room and clean it out and be out the door before you know it. The Rest of the Story

Financial Confessional: I Used To Be An Escort

[Okay guys, this is a juicy one! Obviously not going to be for everyone, so if you’re already hating this and/or offended, please avert your eyes now and wait for our normal posts come Monday! There’s nothing graphic here, but of course it’s a post on having sex for money and will most definitely turn people off :) If you’re curious about other lifestyles though, and ever wondered how people end up down paths like these as well as how much they get paid (!), then keep reading as it’ll def. accomplish that.

As told by my friend Lance who volunteers his time working at local prisons. You might remember him from the first confessional we did on that guy who became a millionaire embezzling money from his company, only to eventually get caught in the end as well. Once again proving time and again how powerful money can be, for the better or the worse!]

My life radically changed one and a half years ago while a sophomore in college.

I was studying to get a communications degree in marketing and sales, but to be honest I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do yet in life. I grew up in Riverside, California and moved to Colorado to go to school. Little did I know that one night and one conversation would change so much of my life.

I stopped working for $11 an hour at the school book store and started “working” for hundreds of dollars an hour… as an escort.

How It All Started

My friends and I would meet up at my house just off campus each Friday night after class. We would hang out and have dinner and then go out to dance and play. On occasion we would run into another group of girls and hang out together. They were a lot of fun and we all became friends. I noticed time and time again that one of the girls always had a new outfit and handbag.

I sat down next to her on the couch and joked around with her one night and said, “I want to go shopping with you sometime!”

She replied to me, “Let’s do it, I go every single week!”

“Your credit card bill must be insane!”

“No credit cards, no daddy, just cash,” she told me and off she went back to dance leaving me to wonder how she had so much money as a college student.

At the end of the night, as we headed home, I tried to catch up to her and asked her where she worked and she said, “All over the place.”

She smiled and got into the car with her friends. A little later that night she texted me and said to come by her place Sunday afternoon.

I showed up to her house and her roommates said that they thought she was still asleep. I went upstairs to her room and knocked on her door and actually woke her up. It was 3 p.m.

She sat up in bed and said that she had been working all night long and got home just after breakfast.

“So you work nights?” I asked.

“I made $2,100 last night,” she said.

She called herself Nickie in her ad and said that she was ready to help guys release the stress from their lives and could discretely make their worries disappear, or something to that manner. It said to call or text her, but no free pictures and no dirty talk.

She said she was strictly and escort and charged $200 for a half-hour or $300 for an hour for her “companionship.”

I was shocked.

“You’re a prostitute?” I remember questioning loudly.

“I’m an escort and I met up with three guys last night. Two businessmen in town at their hotels, and then stayed overnight with one of my regulars at his vacation home,” Nickie said. “I get $,1500 for staying overnight.”

She walked over to her drawer and opened it up and pulled out a pile of cash.

“That’s just last night; we should go and buy something.”

We went to Nordstrom (always my weakness) and she picked up a new Michael Kors hand bag.

Never In My Dreams

I left Nickie after we grabbed a bite to eat, and just sat there on my bed not being able to get our conversation out of my head. I remember thinking about all the money she had and how easy it seemed for her, but most of all how it didn’t seem to bother her at all. She made more in a night than I did part-time in months. I had bombarded her with questions while shopping and at dinner.

“How did you get into this?”

“How long have you been doing this?”

“Does anyone else know?”

“Aren’t you grossed out by the old guys?”

“Aren’t you scared when you show up?”

“Aren’t you afraid of picking up an STD?”

“Are you afraid of getting arrested?”

“How much money have you made?”

Nickie said that she had all the same questions as well. It was a former roommate of hers that introduced her to it when she was invited to go along as a second woman on a “date.”

She said that she had met up with dozens of men and even a few couples. She said at this point she had many regulars that she saw once a week or once a month. Most of them were businessmen who would text her during the day and ask if they could meet up on their way home from work. On occasion it was just a lonely guy who had no chance at bars. A quick rendezvous and she had a couple hundred bucks. Nickie figured she had made over six-figures the last two years.

Making the Jump

I didn’t get into it right away. My biggest concern was about who would be on the other side of the door. I didn’t want to go out one night and never be heard of ever again.

She said young guys are largely punks (and they are) whereas there are a lot of older guys who just need some company who are divorced or guys that just want a break from their life. She also said that there are tons of guys that travel into town for conventions and work that look for a quick hook-up while they are away from home.

After a couple more conversations with her I finally decided to give it a shot. I wanted to make thousands of dollars just like her.

My First Ad

I took so many pictures and spent so much time writing my first ad. I love taking pictures of myself, but it is awkward to take pictures half naked and then post them online. What if my mom saw it or my little brother? Even more awkward was trying to figure out a price of what your body is worth. I called myself Monica.

I got a burner phone and set up a message like Nickie had recommended “Hi boys, I’ve been waiting for your call, I’m excited to see you soon. Keep calling.” You can’t go and meet with clients and have your phone buzzing and ringing all night so I just tell them to keep calling and I can answer in between visits.

I quickly found out that guys don’t read the ads as much as they look at pictures. I changed my hair color to blonde because Nickie said that blondes generally can charge more money and they are in more demand. I put the same price as Nickie for my time with $200 for a half-hour and $300 for an hour. I also upsell them as well once I’m in the room with them, especially young guys.

I got arrested during a sting about seven months into it at a hotel because I got sloppy and didn’t verify a guy who said he was just in town on business. But stings don’t happen too often because police simply don’t have the time and resources to keep up. It’s just a class B misdemeanor for prostitution and a $1,000 fine, but when you make twice that on a Friday or Saturday night it’s not enough to stop the business.

The Tricks of the Trade

You can’t just call and show up and drop your pants. For some girls there is a two-step verification process to protect ourselves from psychos. We give you an address to show up to, and then once you arrive we give you the real address.

I prefer to only verify guys online or from references from other girls they have been with. Some guys freak out that we want their real name and where they work or even their LinkedIn profile, but we have to watch out for ourselves.

When you show up to our place that is called an “in” call. I used to do that for a while when I got my own apartment, but got tired of changing out the sheets four or five times a day and showering four or five times a day and doing my hair and makeup over and over again. He was a quiet, balding man who looked older than my dad. He invited me in and I asked him where the money was at (Nickie always said to ask right away and if you didn’t see it to walk out). I dreaded going to dinner for their work parties because a barely 20 year old girl with an old guy makes people assume I was being paid to be there. And even though I was, I still didn’t like being dressed down by the other women.

The A-Holes

On occasion some men treat you like $hit. I’m not here to say that being an escort is an amazing job and everything goes great because it doesn’t. I know others who have been physically assaulted and come home with bruises everywhere. I’ve been lucky for the most part. But on occasion there are a-holes who think because they pay you they can do whatever they want to you and threaten to call the police if you don’t do what they want. I don’t have many bad experiences, but have been abused a few times, more emotionally and verbally than physically.

There are nights I have come back home wondering what I am doing and saying I’m never going to do it again. I didn’t want to do this forever and lately I find there are a lot more girls getting into the business which has created a lot of competition, at least in my area. Younger, taller and bigger boobs are tough to compete with. I’ve lost a few of my regulars who want to try someone new, and I’ve lost out on some other big money that used to come in each month too. The better the economy the more money there is to be made, especially in big cities, and the more folks are jumping in the escort business.

Tons of Fake Pictures Online / Girls That Rob

The interesting thing about the business of escorting is that most of the girls online are total fakes. If you see a super-hot girl in Denver, chances are that her pictures also show up on sites in Vegas, Austin, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and more.

Girls post hot pictures and often times someone else shows up. Bait and switch happens all the time, or the pictures are a few years old when they were 15-20 pounds lighter.

I mentioned upselling as well. Be aware that girls will come in and drop our clothes, and then tell you if you want more than a nice look you’re going to have to pay extra. We’re sales people, and if you want more then you have to pay for it.

Also be aware that you shouldn’t have any other cash lying around or a wallet in the open, because when you are told to get in the shower, that girl might just go through your room and clean it out and be out the door before you know it. I’ve had several guys tell me stories of them being ripped off. I don’t feel sorry for them, but it is what it is, we all take our chances with strangers.

I was flirty and pretended to like all the guys, but the sex is rarely good and I’ve had guys ask me to run away with them and tell me they are in love. Really? You don’t love me, you love my body, how can you love when you are likely cheating? I play along because I just care about your cash and not you. I am using you as well. Most of you are out of shape, old and not overly attractive, and yes you have money but besides that our relationship when you think about it is just ugly.

All in all I have over $35,000 saved in the bank. While I splurged the first few months, I started to get smart and save so I wouldn’t have to do this all through school. I liked the money, I liked the lifestyle when pampered, but it had to end at some point. I lose out on time with friends because the best nights for money are the weekends. I’d like to think I could have a normal relationship someday as well.

The Rest of the Story

“Monica” is currently out of the business and out of school, having just been released from prison (again) for prostitution, and this time cocaine distribution as well. (This is where I met her, since my wife and I work as volunteers in the prison system).

One client, who Monica wouldn’t get into details about, invited her to do cocaine with him. She had never done major drugs, and after more visits with this same client started offering cocaine to other clients as an upsell option. She was caught during a sting operation with police, and picked up her second misdemeanor charge of prostitution and a 2nd degree felony distribution charge for the cocaine. She was fined $3,500 and faced up to one-year in prison, but was released after 60 days.

Shortly upon her release, Monica moved into a house with two other women. After entering the house they were confronted by eight men, several of which pulled out guns and said they were taking them to Arizona “to work for them.” One of the women texted a friend and police arrived a few minutes later.

The men attempted to run away, and one of them fired off a shot as he ran out the door. The bullet missed everyone, but lodged into the drywall about a foot away from Monica.

She immediately went back to her place, packed up her things, and drove home to her parents where she is hoping to start her life completely over.

She was caught during a sting operation with police, and picked up her second misdemeanor charge of prostitution and a 2nd degree felony distribution charge for the cocaine. She was fined $3,500 and faced up to one-year in prison, but was released after 60 days.

Shortly upon her release, Monica moved into a house with two other women. After entering the house they were confronted by eight men, several of which pulled out guns and said they were taking them to Arizona “to work for them.” One of the women texted a friend and police arrived a few minutes later.

The men attempted to run away, and one of them fired off a shot as he ran out the door. The bullet missed everyone, but lodged into the drywall about a foot away from Monica.

She immediately went back to her place, packed up her things, and drove home to her parents where she is hoping to start her life completely over.

My life radically changed one and a half years ago while a sophomore in college.

I was studying to get a communications degree in marketing and sales, but to be honest I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do yet in life. I grew up in Riverside, California and moved to Colorado to go to school. Little did I know that one night and one conversation would change so much of my life.

I stopped working for $11 an hour at the school book store and started “working” for hundreds of dollars an hour… as an escort.

How It All Started

My friends and I would meet up at my house just off campus each Friday night after class. We would hang out and have dinner and then go out to dance and play. On occasion we would run into another group of girls and hang out together. They were a lot of fun and we all became friends. She walked over to her drawer and opened it up and pulled out a pile of cash.

“That’s just last night; we should go and buy something.”

We went to Nordstrom (always my weakness) and she picked up a new Michael Kors hand bag.

Never In My Dreams

I left Nickie after we grabbed a bite to eat, and just sat there on my bed not being able to get our conversation out of my head. What if my mom saw it or my little brother? Even more awkward was trying to figure out a price of what your body is worth. I called myself Monica.

I got a burner phone and set up a message like Nickie had recommended “Hi boys, I’ve been waiting for your call, I’m excited to see you soon. Keep calling.” You can’t go and meet with clients and have your phone buzzing and ringing all night so I just tell them to keep calling and I can answer in between visits.

I quickly found out that guys don’t read the ads as much as they look at pictures. I changed my hair color to blonde because Nickie said that blondes generally can charge more money and they are in more demand. I put the same price as Nickie for my time with $200 for a half-hour and $300 for an hour. I also upsell them as well once I’m in the room with them, especially young guys.

I got arrested during a sting about seven months into it at a hotel because I got sloppy and didn’t verify a guy who said he was just in town on business. But stings don’t happen too often because police simply don’t have the time and resources to keep up. It’s just a class B misdemeanor for prostitution and a $1,000 fine, but when you make twice that on a Friday or Saturday night it’s not enough to stop the business.

The Tricks of the Trade

You can’t just call and show up and drop your pants. For some girls there is a two-step verification process to protect ourselves from psychos. We give you an address to show up to, and then once you arrive we give you the real address.

I prefer to only verify guys online or from references from other girls they have been with. Some guys freak out that we want their real name and where they work or even their LinkedIn profile, but we have to watch out for ourselves.

When you show up to our place that is called an “in” call. I used to do that for a while when I got my own apartment, but got tired of changing out the sheets four or five times a day and showering four or five times a day and doing my hair and makeup over and over again. But on occasion there are a-holes who think because they pay you they can do whatever they want to you and threaten to call the police if you don’t do what they want. I don’t have many bad experiences, but have been abused a few times, more emotionally and verbally than physically.

There are nights I have come back home wondering what I am doing and saying I’m never going to do it again. I didn’t want to do this forever and lately I find there are a lot more girls getting into the business which has created a lot of competition, at least in my area. Younger, taller and bigger boobs are tough to compete with. I’ve lost a few of my regulars who want to try someone new, and I’ve lost out on some other big money that used to come in each month too. The better the economy the more money there is to be made, especially in big cities, and the more folks are jumping in the escort business.

Tons of Fake Pictures Online / Girls That Rob

The interesting thing about the business of escorting is that most of the girls online are total fakes. If you see a super-hot girl in Denver, chances are that her pictures also show up on sites in Vegas, Austin, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and more.

Girls post hot pictures and often times someone else shows up. Bait and switch happens all the time, or the pictures are a few years old when they were 15-20 pounds lighter.

I mentioned upselling as well. Be aware that girls will come in and drop our clothes, and then tell you if you want more than a nice look you’re going to have to pay extra. We’re sales people, and if you want more then you have to pay for it.

Also be aware that you shouldn’t have any other cash lying around or a wallet in the open, because when you are told to get in the shower, that girl might just go through your room and clean it out and be out the door before you know it. I’ve had several guys tell me stories of them being ripped off. I don’t feel sorry for them, but it is what it is, we all take our chances with strangers.

I don’t have many bad experiences, but have been abused a few times, more emotionally and verbally than physically.

There are nights I have come back home wondering what I am doing and saying I’m never going to do it again. I didn’t want to do this forever and lately I find there are a lot more girls getting into the business which has created a lot of competition, at least in my area. Younger, taller and bigger boobs are tough to compete with. I’ve lost a few of my regulars who want to try someone new, and I’ve lost out on some other big money that used to come in each month too. The better the economy the more money there is to be made, especially in big cities, and the more folks are jumping in the escort business.

Tons of Fake Pictures Online / Girls That Rob

The interesting thing about the business of escorting is that most of the girls online are total fakes. If you see a super-hot girl in Denver, chances are that her pictures also show up on sites in Vegas, Austin, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and more.

Girls post hot pictures and often times someone else shows up. Bait and switch happens all the time, or the pictures are a few years old when they were 15-20 pounds lighter.

I mentioned upselling as well. Be aware that girls will come in and drop our clothes, and then tell you if you want more than a nice look you’re going to have to pay extra. We’re sales people, and if you want more then you have to pay for it.

Also be aware that you shouldn’t have any other cash lying around or a wallet in the open, because when you are told to get in the shower, that girl might just go through your room and clean it out and be out the door before you know it. I’ve had several guys tell me stories of them being ripped off. I don’t feel sorry for them, but it is what it is, we all take our chances with strangers.

I was flirty and pretended to like all the guys, but the sex is rarely good and I’ve had guys ask me to run away with them and tell me they are in love. Really? You don’t love me, you love my body, how can you love when you are likely cheating? I play along because I just care about your cash and not you. I am using you as well. Most of you are out of shape, old and not overly attractive, and yes you have money but besides that our relationship when you think about it is just ugly.

All in all I have over $35,000 saved in the bank. While I splurged the first few months, I started to get smart and save so I wouldn’t have to do this all through school. I liked the money, I liked the lifestyle when pampered, but it had to end at some point. I lose out on time with friends because the best nights for money are the weekends. I’d like to think I could have a normal relationship someday as well.

The Rest of the Story

“Monica” is currently out of the business and out of school, having just been released from prison (again) for prostitution, and this time cocaine distribution as well. (This is where I met her, since my wife and I work as volunteers in the prison system).

One client, who Monica wouldn’t get into details about, invited her to do cocaine with him. She had never done major drugs, and after more visits with this same client started offering cocaine to other clients as an upsell option. She was caught during a sting operation with police, and picked up her second misdemeanor charge of prostitution and a 2nd degree felony distribution charge for the cocaine. She was fined $3,500 and faced up to one-year in prison, but was released after 60 days.

Shortly upon her release, Monica moved into a house with two other women. After entering the house they were confronted by eight men, several of which pulled out guns and said they were taking them to Arizona “to work for them.” One of the women texted a friend and police arrived a few minutes later.

The men attempted to run away, and one of them fired off a shot as he ran out the door. The bullet missed everyone, but lodged into the drywall about a foot away from Monica.

She immediately went back to her place, packed up her things, and drove home to her parents where she is hoping to start her life completely over.
