okay wait i’m gonna make an attempt here to give a few points on his character, not necessarily just stuff i’ve seen people do wrong (at least pertaining to the stuff i personally read). again my knowledge of his character isn’t perfect because i don’t speak much spanish (77 day duolingo streak ✌️) but i’m gonna try my best. very happy for people to correct/add to this tho lol

okay as i said in the tags on the original post, something i see a lot is people writing him speaking english too clearly/too much. he isn’t very confident in english, he stumbles over words or repeats himself or says words that kinda sound like what he’s trying to say but Not and sometimes he’ll get frustrated and just go back to speaking spanish and rely on the translator. he does try to speak english around the english speaking server members but he doesn’t always

(and a note: writing someone as being Not Perfect at speaking english isn’t a bad thing! because someone not being fluent at speaking a second language isn’t a bad thing! i get not wanting to have him fall into that trope of hispanic characters that throw random spanish words into their sentences then go “lol it’s hard to switch back xD” or w/e but just pay attention to how he Actually talks and you’ll do fine i believe in you)

semi-related to speech patterns he calls kids mami/papi a lot. like he’s called juanaflippa mami more than her actual name, and i think he called bobby papi sometimes. yes that’s mummy/daddy in english but google has told me this is just a normal thing for parents/adults to call children in mexico JGVSH (i don’t think he tends to do this when speaking english/around english speakers though, at least not that i’ve noticed)

he’s often written as either Too Nice or Too Mean. he’s a very chaotic person and can (for example) swing between being annoyed at slime and being worried about him very quickly. good example is when he and slime were walking to his house and mariana paused in yelling at him to ask if he was okay. IN FACT he’s actually generally not a very mean person, he just teases/jokes a lot

he is quite genuinely actually pretty loyal to slime. i know people want the angst of him cheating but as far as i can tell he actually hasn’t? not anything beyond being kinda flirty which is just how he is as a person. see: that animation that was shown on movie night of him repeatedly asking bbh if he thinks he’s pretty and then the moment bbh said he looked nice mariana told him to back off. he just likes being silly goofy like that

he’s very open with his emotions!! he very easily shows his frustration, or sadness, or. well, lust. and he laughs a lot! he’s a giggly lad. as a whole he’s like, the opposite of stoic. i feel like if he’s gonna hide one emotion it won’t be behind a blank wall it’ll just be behind a Different emotion, yk?

and that’s all i can think of unless the fact that he drinks plain black coffee counts as a character trait XD i don’t even remember what clip i saw that in lol

i feel like i see ppl mischaracterise mariana a lot too but then i also don’t feel like i know his character well enough to articulate in what way lol

like i read. a lot of slimeriana fics. and in some of them his behaviour just feels ? off ? from what i expect it to be but idk how LOL
