Hey professor, Its considered common knowledge that submerging a Charizard’s tail in water would kill it, but I am wondering how true that is. Pokedex entries seem to imply its the other way around, that the tail goes out when it runs out of life force.

Charizard fire is Hydrogen based, they mix it with oxygen, and it can and does burn underwater.

Sick, weak, or infirm charizard may not be able to sustain a flame for long in these conditions, but if it gets wet it's not the end of them under normal circumstance. There is some truth in that its life force is the thing that keeps the fire burning however, but if the life force stops, ie. the heart, does everything not stop? Course the flame would die out, the whole pokemon has come to its time. Can't pump oxygen around anymore so a flame is not sustainable nah. They can however be rejuvinated with specific care, on occasion. Depends on the situation, dragons are a...tricky group. Their previous evolutions may sturggle to manage a flame underwater, and of course i'd not suggest anyone do this by force nor for fun. Its more a survival adaption, and does put strain on the body to do for long amounts of time.

I'd not listen to the dex with a serious mind, its a kids device to help recall pokemon, but often takes a small percentage of information and accentuates it because it seems more interesting than the truthful larger facts.

Ofcourse, as soon as I begin to feel better, everything worsens. If one reads yesterdays log, I had begun to feel better, and today, even more so! In rejuvinating fashion, I thought that washing my bedsheets might help remove the aura of the sickness, but as soon as I attempt to cleanse myself in the form of a bath, my monthly shedding begins.

When a real human like me spends time away from the sea long enough, slowly shedding old scales hurts a great amount. Well, I wouldn't call them scales. Real humans don't have scales, and I am a real human, but I suppose it can be considered scales. Whatever the equivalent is, I am now bedridden once again.

Ok so i dont particularly care about what monsantos have to say about vld especially after it ended but i still think about LM saying Allura only brought back those who died during Haggar's tantrum and "planets which died before their time and not the life on it" (or along those lines. I think it was in the interview after the show ended? Someone made a post detailing it). Like i dont know about you all, but i found the idea absolutely fascinating in a morbid way.

Cause like maybe they come back as completely empty. The planets and their landmasses come back intact, rejuvinated, but not even a whisper of the lives that once lived. The planets are back but they lay bare, even the memory of life upon it now long dead. They have potential to nourish life, but what is the point? When there is no life, no beings to be nourished. These planets came back empty shells, with their children long dead and forgotten.

Or maybe they come back as they died. Maybe their soil is deep and rich, only in the way forest soil can be, maybe there are islands made up of what used to be bones of corals. Maybe there are well trodden paths, leveled lands, diverted rivers, and mined grounds. Maybe there are empty buildings, unused roads, abandoned items of every day use, each telling a story of life that once lived but the pages are long torn and the pictures have faded. Planets which were scarred and loved by the unique life that lived on it, but the beings that did that have long since been dead. These planets come back as ruins, still haunted by its inhabitants.

Or maybe (and i am going full SCP 2935 here) the life does come back, but dead. They had been dead for thousands of years but now there are bodies here waiting to be buried. They do not rot, because decay itself needs life and everything on that planet is dead and has been dead for a long time. Frozen in time, to see them is to come face to face with the devastation brought, because it is much harder to deny personhood of a fresh corpse, than of stories and ruins and fossils. No one is left to mourn them, to remember them, to hold a funereal because everyone that could died with them. These planets come back as graveyards and memorials, holding the grim proof of what was taken from them.

"ludinus-is-athodan theory fuel" tell me more about clues from a cookbook 👀

(i had written half this down when tumblr glitched on me. thank you so much functional app)

well,

im assuming based on your wording you know the theory, but a quick rundown for any passersby who doesnt have context:

athodan was an aeorian mage who studied rejuvination/reversing & speeding up time's effects, utilized the luxon to do so, and helped formulate the t-dock. ludinus is an arcanum-era mage who knew how to keep himself alive "over 1,000 years" and knows how to utilize the luxon to time travel, a feat deemed near impossible & achieved only in small entireties by essek & caleb, 2 unknown mages (who turned to dust right after or were never heard from again), and artagan (but he is an archfey who could manipulate his domain - so this may be an entirely different idea). and if i shared my sheer amount of evidence for ludinus being aeorian, we'd be here all day.

an aditional little detail i like is ath- means an "absence", ie an athiest, and -dan seems to be an elven suffix in exandria ie vax'ildan. so an atheist elf. by name alone it feels a fun tidbit.

ive long rotated this theory in my brain - since the day we learned about athodan, in fact. with every similarity we get the more feral about it i feel. so imagine my reaction picking up exquisite exandria - a cookbook - and finding THIS:

seems like near nothing at first, im sure, but if you're as obscenely obsessed with this theory & ludinus & athodan as i am, you pick up a few really insanely small details:

-obviously the reiteration of athodan's attempts at rejuvination/reversing aging

-the strange significance of him of all fucking people having a drink. most things named after people in this cookbook are either legacy characters or someone who would reasonably have created food/drink. why athodan?

-the sheer amount of fruity, citrusy shit in this. why is that significant? ludinus obsessor here to tell you - ludinus adores citrus. twice in campaign 2 (in his tower in c2e88, in the wind of aeons in c2e99), he is described beside a set of/serving the m9 a sweet citrus tea (not relevant here but the flavor is specifically mango. not important but). so he clearly has the same taste as athodan.

I have important question, what do you use as fertilizer for plants? I don't really want to buy one and I read there are options, like veggie broth or tea, but I am unsure what works best. I read some use a bit of menstrual blood diluted in water, which I am tempted to try, but wonder how weird it is.

I use menstrual blood diluted in water every time! But there's not enough of that to be a consistent fertilizer, or to work for the entire garden. Here's stuff that I have tried out:

urine dilluted 1:10 with water! It has a great amount of nitrogen and trace amounts of other minerals, do not use it more than two times a month, and not on tiny plants. It's the best for green growth

fermented nettle: for this, fill a plastic container that you can close, with big nettles, and then pour water on them, all the way to the top, and close it up. Leave in hot sun to ferment for 10 days. Once it's done it will stink, and I mean, stink badly. Dillute 1:10 before watering your plants with! Don't use on peas, beans and other legumes, they do not like the nitrogen.

fermented comfrey: same as nettle, has so many good nutrients in there, has tons of calcium, will help your plants a lot!

menstrual blood diluted with water: safe for all plants, plants absolutely love blood

if you suspect your plants are lacking in some minerals you can use egg shells, or even crushed shells from the beach/river, and put them in your soil to make sure there's enough calcium in it! I didn't do a lot of this but the plant lady is always doing it

Mulch: it means putting organic material on top of the soil, this can be hay, straw, cut grass, dried leaves, pine needles, cut off tree branches, plant cuttings or leftovers, whatever has fallen off a plant or a tree is in this category. Now what will happen is these materials, exposed to the sun and elements, will start to degrade and compost themselves into your soil, and you will have fresh organic compost on top of your soil. Once your mulch degrades to compost you can add more material! Endless fertilization and fixing the soil and making sure you little worms have food to eat.

Stuff I've only heard of:

coffee grounds: apparently they're very good for soil and feeding the plants!

if you have leftovers of food in the forms of fish or bones, those are great for fertilization! There even are specific fertilizers called 'bone meal' or 'fish fertilizer' because plants really love that kind of stuff. It's better to compost them first though or add them in crushed form, they need to be reduced to the elements before plants can absorb them

Mushrooms: if you can get any fungal growth in your garden it's extremely healthy for your plants! If you're only looking for potted soil disregard this. But garden plants love having mushrooms around and if you have any mushroom growth it means your soil is super healthy

compost tea: I am sure this one is amazing because 'Roots and Refuge' farm used it to rejuvinate their soil after it's been poisoned by herbicide. I'm not sure how I would do it with my outside compost pile but the idea is to put your half-composted leftovers into water, leave it there for some hours, and strain it out, so the water has taken tons of nutrients from it, and then you water your plants with it! In general, whatever you use dissolved in water will have immediate effect because your plants will draw that water in immediately. It takes a bit to absorb stuff you put in the soil!

I guess I shouldn't leave out the 'traditional' fertilization methods, which is animal poop, just in case you have like, chicken or bunnies or something making a lot of poop, that can be used as fertilizer. Do look up what poop needs to be composted for a while first though! Some animals like cows produce poop so nitrogen-rich it would fry your plants if used immediately, it needs to sit for a year first.

Good luck to your plants, you never have to buy fertilizer because there is so much of nutrients in nature you can always get it for free, with just some basic knowledge of how to get to it :)

Been thinking about Edgar again (when am I not thinking about him let's be real), here's my most recent thoughts:

You can try to talk to him while he's tinkering, but the most you'll get in response is "hmm" and you're more likely to just not be heard at all. He's not ignoring you, he's in The Zone.

Hums/sings quietly to himself sometimes, if anyone catches him he gets flustered. His singing voice is nice.

Would absolutely be willing to dress in drag if the situation needed him to do so.

I'm still convinced he enjoyed being in disguise as Gerad, at least a little bit, but he might only admit it under influence of alcohol.

He may have been a gang boss, but Edgar will always be Edgar regardless of the situation (as evidenced by his flirting with Celes while trying to convince her he's not Edgar lmao). I think he probably started to care for the crimson robbers and felt a little bad about using them, and that's partially why he didn't do anything to stop them from actually raiding the castle vault. (Don't worry, there's more than one vault and Figaro isn't completely broke. Also with all the treasure and gil the party racked up while grinding they'll be fine.)

Post-game, when he's not busy helping with reparations in the world of ruin they're still living in, he designs things that can help people. They're essentially still in a post-apocalyptic scenario even after Kefka is defeated, and while the world is likely healing without his influence, it's going to take a long time. So they probably need things like filtration for the water, irrigation systems to make farmland viable again, reinforced walls to protect towns from whatever monsters still roam the wilderness. Figaro with their technological prowess can provide these things, and many of them are personally designed by the machinist king himself.

He also likes to personally handle problems in South Figaro if/when when he can, like if there's a den of monsters nearby and the mayor hired mercenaries that haven't been able to clear it out, he and Sabin (and probably their friends as well, I refuse to believe they all just went their separate ways) will go and take care of it.

I think he'd also want to design tools that can do some of the cool things he could do with magic. Flamethrower, ice blaster, rejuvinator for quick healing, etc (basically his brave exivus abilities). There's nothing magic could do that he can't build something for, the man's a technological genius.

I really love that he's genuinely very smart, like, he dresses extravagantly and flirts with everyone and can be a bit silly but he's still smart enough to design crazy weapons and machines. Good for him.

He and Locke are the kind of friends who tease each other but also have serious conversations about their trauma and insecurities (probably over fine wine pilfered from the castle cellar by a certain treasure hunter). Also they've definitely made out at some point, possibly more than once.

Edgar personally visits Mobliz to check on Terra and the kids frequently, and he also volunteers the money and workers required to build a proper home for them. He'd also absolutely want to teach the older kids how to build and repair things. I think he'd be a great teacher.
