talking to bug but. jamie definitely takes england’s 8 as soon as sam makes his nigeria debut. 8’s the number he’s wanted to play as for england literally his entire life, but he wants to make his protest about sam’s exclusion from the nigerian team sheet very very clear. so when sam gets his call up and then makes his debut, jamie (who likely has a good amount of caps and at least a couple of starts by then, esp if the corruption/akufo bribes goes on) goes to southgate and knows he has some leverage (especially if we keep using bekeeley in-universe lore and say that oliver hardy is england’s 8 before jamie and he’s getting old and slow) and he’s like. coach it’s time, let me have the 8.
