9-1-1 7x05 Wild Theories
Just to be totally self-indulgent for a moment
When Buck tells Tommy he’s never dated a dude before, Tommy asks something along the lines of “Nothing’s ever happened with Eddie?” And is even further surprised when Buck splutters that Eddie isn’t into men.
(This will lead to the natural conclusion of BuckyTommy next episode—I think we’ll only get one more from him—since he really likes Buck and doesn’t want to set himself up for heartbreak, but he won’t do it until he’s relatively certain that Buddie is requited)
Eddie fully spirals over BuckTommy date—but mostly because he already knows he’s in love with Buck and what’s so special about Tommy that Buck would give him a shot and not Eddie???
The poker date actually WAS meant as a date—it was Eddie shooting his shot and Buck being oblivious to it. Eddie will be crushed to realize that if he’d just gone for it and kissed Buck like he’ll find out Tommy did, then maybe Buck would’ve realized he’s bi sooner & wouldn’t have dated Natalia
We’ll get demisexual!Eddie confirmation—implicitly or explicitly—when Marisol tries to sleep with Eddie and he reminds her (bc I’m sure they’ve discussed this offscreen) that he’s not ready to take that step until he has a deep emotional connection to someone. She’ll call him out on not being able to love her because he’s in love with Buck and he’ll admit he’s known for years (my guess is the well or shortly thereafter, although we may not hear that for a while). They’ll fight, she’ll claim that Eddie was using her as a beard to cover the fact that he’s gay, and Eddie will defend himself by saying he loved Shannon but he also loves Buck and he doesn’t know what that makes him. I think this will be a nasty confrontation very different from the Eddie/Ana breakup
Eddie starts avoiding Buck after he witnesses the date and Buck confronts him (gym scene?) to either apologize again (first one was offscreen) about basketball or call him out for being shitty about Buck dating Tommy, but Eddie is just protecting himself, though he doesn’t tell Buck that
The loft scene is Eddie apologizing for taking a beat and he tells Buck he’s proud of him and there’s nothing that will ever break up their friendship. He decides to let Buck and the idea of more go, and the episode ends on a positive note for BuckTommy and an angsty one for Eddie, now single and seeing someone else live his fantasy
