How did Atlas lose Stanley?

The premise for Parable Actors is that when Stanley and the Narrator finally got into the escape pod, the lights went out and when they came back on, Stanley was gone and the Narrator was in a different Parable altogether.

Stanley made it to the real world, and the Narrator didn’t. Instead, he keeps ending up in Parables where the balance has been completely broken, so he’s been going through, helping those Stanleys and getting into the escape pods with them—which then frees that Stanley, but sends him into a new Parable to start it all over again.

And he does this for over four years before the Stanleys find each other in the real world, and his Stanley gets him out.
