With a smirk and a small groan, Lucifer pushed himself off his desk and swung his coat over his shoulders. Even with an unholy lack of sleep, he did feel a pang of embarrassment at Aqua seeing him in such a disheveled state of dress and covering up with his coat was about all he could do at the moment besides subtly nudging his sleeves down. His tie was a lost cause.

“And let you wander the halls unaccompanied at this hour? Out of the question.” He had to at the very least keep the appearance it was not him that needed guidance to his room, of course.

"You're still here? I thought you would've gone to sleep by now."

Aqua walked into Lucifer's study with her arms crossed.

Lucifer had not noticed her walk in, nor the door even opening, but nothing besides a brief twinge of his hand betrayed his surprise as he continued verifying his reports. He has not expected a check up at this point in the night.

“There’s work to be done,” He said flatly after a pause, “A better question might be why you are not in bed.” His tone had no warning nor playfullness to it: the man was simply too tired to sound anything but exhausted.
