you're helping freddie apply his eye black when lip shows up to the community field. he'd come as fast as he could from work, eager to cheer his son on in his first game after making the move up from tee ball.

"dad's here!" he says with a grin, waving eagerly at lip while he jogs over.

your husband wears a white tank top with jeans that cling a little too well to his thighs, and you smile at him. lip places a kiss on your cheek, then pulls his son in for a hug. "hey buddy, y'ready to rock 'em?"

"yeah! we're gonna kick some major ass," he responds, to which lip looks at you for disciplinary guidance. unfortunately, if it was up to his father, your eight year old would be swearing like a sailor. you couldn't blame him, with mickey and ian as babysitters.

"fred gallagher!" you scold, giving him a light, playful smack to the back of his head.

he grins in response, showing his missing front tooth. "sorry- gonna kick some major butt." he looks up at his father who chuckles lightly, reaching down to ruffle his golden curls.

"that you are, kiddo. jus' like y'r old man."
