LOVE IN PARADISE. GUYS WHAT THE ACTUALLY HELL.

Look I avoid teasers and early releases of the songs like the plague. I go into each album as blind as I possibly can be. Even then I heard stuff about God Games and was obviously really looking forward to it (and who would with a name like that) BUT I HAD NO WARNING FOR LOVE IN PARADISE WHICH SOMEHOW BROUGHT ME THE CLOSEST TO CRYING I HAVE BEEN YET. FOR A SECOND I THOUGHT HE WAS HOME AND THEN CALYPSO SHOWED UP AND DAMN.

That song any of actally ruined me. Nothing will live up to the pure undiluted despair I eagerly sunk my entire body into listening to that. Some how it was the sadest song in the entire musical. I'm gonna be obsessing over this one for a while.

Cielo Mist

There is a character in Digital Devil Saga named Cielo. In Japanese, he calls the protagonist Serph his big brother (aniki, if you're familiar with the term from other games). Compared to the other members of Embryon, he does seem kinda young. This makes sense when you find out part 2 that he was based on a young boy Sera knew - perhaps him looking up to Serph as his brother was related to this?

In the English version of the game, he speaks like a Jamaican caricature. Uhh, I have no idea why he was localized like this (tbh, I think it's pretty strange). Is it something to do with his hair? Did him saying big brother somehow remind someone of Jamaicans always being characterized as saying "man"? Did Atlus say somewhere that the kid he was based on is from Jamaica? I really have no idea.

In Persona 3, the protagonist can get a drink from vending machines called Cielo Mist. The description references Jamaica, making this a reference to DDS and how Cielo was localized. And of course, this is an English-only thing. The Japanese drink is called Yotsuya Cider, a parody of the Japanese drink Mitsuya Cider (mi = 3, yo = 4). The real product Mitsuya Cider is a carbonated drink (the name being cider is kinda comparable to soda), so I assume Cielo Mist was chosen as a combo of Cielo's name and a parody of the drink Sierra Mist.

I JUST WATCHED IT AND I AM LITERALLY LOSING MY MIND WITH EXCITEMENT NOW!!!!!!!!!! This season is gonna be incredible, even though I KNOW it's gonna end on a cliffhanger since they're splitting book two into two parts (or at least so I'm told). But we still get my boy the Florid Sword! And Maraly!!! And the Fork Factory!!!!!!

What's wild is that a Skillet song STARTED the SOS Chronicles 11 years ago now. I was daydreaming to Hero and came up with the inspiration for the first chapter of my "sci fi series" that would later become the SOS Chronicles. And over a decade later they're still making songs that are perfect for it.
