I’m less than halfway through the special, what the fuck. I wasn’t wrong when I said Wizard City had a lot on its plate. It’s noit that I’ve been particularly gripped up to this point, though to be fair I didn’t pause at all during the other specials barring Obsidian.

okay, it’s over :) 

first thoughts out of the way: not a big fan of this special. it’s like watching a completely different show. it’s not got the PZSHAHH of the normal wizard city stuff and there weren’t a lot of funny jokes or even hearty moments in the thing. 

it suffers from a lack of invested character interactions, much like BMO did. there was not a single main cast member in the whole thing! and like i said before, much of peppermint butler’s character in the show is based on his very sweet relationship to his mother, princess bubblegum, so when they showed a single (hilarious) photo of them together it made me sad we didn’t get any scenes with them together. it would have STOLEN this episode. and they teased the hunson golf photo, and death!!! and jake appeared in a photo T_T last jake appearance. 

it also suffers because Peppermint Butler is clearly not himself, imo he was way more entertaining in the Together Again special, where we seem him back to his “normal” self. 

i dont think peps being a dark wizard was something to “kill off” exactly. i wonder what was going on there? was that actually peps, or was that a spirit he cursed himself with based on himself? we at least know in the future he does become a dark wizard again, and even princess :) this special didn’t answer those questions but lol. 

THE GOOD STUFF, because yes, there was a lot of good stuff! 

God, I’m with Aracle and Maya on this - I LOVE Cadebra and her relationship to Pep. I wish she was even in more of this - I would love to watch the adventures of Cadebra and Pepbut in their first year of school, like in the end credits.

That, imo, is where the heart of the special lay - Peppermint Butler’s attempts to impress himself, versus Cadebra’s self acceptance and desire to follow her dreams of being a goofy goober, no matter what other people thought of her. 

It turned out that Cadebra is a responsible student and family member. I really liked that. Her scenes with Abracadaniel were, somehow, my favourite in the entire special! 

I like that theres a lot of cool magic towards the end of this special, and a lot of HORRIFYING DEATH. It wouldn’t be adventure time if you didn’t randomly kill off child characters. Poor Spader, I hated you but damn, what a grim fate. 

I like that Bufo and Caledonius had this crush/hatred thing going on, but they were part of the same cult in the end. 

I didn’t like the giant peps scene at the end, the monster was extremely milquetoast compared to the madness we usually get in AT. Obsidian, for example, had the awesome Larvo design. Nemesis had some INSANE dark magic!!!!  I wish they drew more from that episode. 

Considering how much Steve Little appears in this special, I do feel bad for Mace (little Peps). He said he would have really benefitted from coaching, but recieved none. He had to re-record his lines 3 times! Judging from his description of events, Wizard City was a hard time for him. 

The wizard school did remind me, heavily, of both The Owl House and OK KO. Personally I was hoping AT would offer me something more insane, but I do love both of those shows, and I know Wizard City was on a really tight schedule. 

I think they should have spent less time on the school bullying plot, and skipped straight to MURDER. 

We did have a cold opening, not on par with Together Again’s at all, but damn!

I am wondering where I would put this in the watch list? I do think it should sit after Obsidian as the third special. The intro scene makes it clear this takes place at the same time as Obsidian!!!

Well, that was it, the last ep of AT for the next few years at least T_T

i think together again was the better finale, definitely. but wizard city feels pretty detached from AT for me, despite the familiar characters it tonally isn’t like the show other than the awesome brutal death scenes. I thought the last 11 minutes was easily the best in the special! Which, honestly, is how it should be, though I do wish it gripped me more. Maybe I’m just not the target audience for Wizard City? It feels like something I would find very compelling if I was a bit younger!

NICE this is content i love to see!! Sorry if you dont see this post it’s probably been sitting in my inbox for a week, but i’ll tag it, so who knows?

This will mostly be about character in the comics, but I’ll throw in who i like to play as well

Scout: he gives off annoying little sibling energy. very entertaining and funny, he talks non-stop in the comics. his daddy issues go deep and it’s probably good that he doesn’t know HOW deep. Before most matches start i pick scout and run around the map, hitting as many people with the fish as I can. 6/10 cool boy

Pyro: baby. I do wish they had more of a personality besides “obsessed with fire and doesn’t live in reality”, but pyrovision is a very fun concept and makes this guy both loveable and TERRIFYING. Pyro is my second most played, because who doesn’t love not aiming and causing extreme carnage? 7/10 chaotic being

Soldier: OK HONESTLY? MY FAVORITE CHARACTER FROM THE COMICS. this poor, lead poisoned, brain dead, psychopath. only blood lust and patriotism consume the mind of this man, but there really isnt much space up there anyway. his stupidity and knack for pissing off literally anyone is fantastic. also, he ends up dating heavy’s sister zhanna and they have a FANTASTIC dynamic (ok, she actually might be my favorite but soldier is close). I don’t play him that much, but rocket jumping is hella fun. 10/10 GOOD HUSTLE, SOLDIER!

Demoman: Underappiciated and under utilized in fan content! I think he has one of the best origin stories. He’s realatively sane for TF2 mercs, and would probably be all the way there if it wasnt for his nasty drinking habit. There’s also a comic where a soldier and demoman on opposite teams become friends and that is such a good one. Valve definitely could have done better on having more characters who aren’t white, but im glad we at least got Tavish! I suck at demoman but i’m trying to play him more to get better. Kinda surprising since junkrat was my 2nd most played in overwatch. 8/10 "Oh, they're goin' ta have to glue you back together...IN HELL!"

Heavy: Due to his appearance in the telltale poker night game, this guy probably has the most complete characterization. Somewhere between a gentle giant and crazy russian, he’s a family man with a doctorate in russian literature and a strong attachment to Sascha, his favorite gun. He doesn’t say much, but he usually says the right thing. God bless him for putting up with the rest of the team, because if he didn’t, they’d all be goners. Heavy playstyle just isnt fun for me so i rarely pick him. 8/10 Legendary Comrade

Engineer: I feel like we hear the least about this dude’s personality in the comics. He’s a genius engineer in a family of genius engineers. His grandfather created a life extending machine (thats kinda important to the comics) that he later upgraded. Dude literally has 12 Phds. I enjoy his general laid-back texan demeanor. I feel like he’d be really fun at parties for some reason. I’ve been playing engineer way more recently and a lot of his voice lines are sarcastic and a bit goofy. 7/10 texas sized yee haw.

Sniper: someone give this man a fucking break. please. my god. the most mentally there of the team, doesn’t seem absorbed with killing, but does enjoy the challange and competition of sniping. has a bit of an identity crisis (in the form of his superman-esque origin story) which is quickly resolved. probably would be the most pleasant of these guys to meet in real life. i only play sniper on the 2 Fort map and I have never gotten a headshot. ever. 6/10 great shot, mate.

Medic: MY MAN LUDWIG! My favorite character before reading the comics. I’d say he’s a fucked up doctor, but thats only the half of it. He isnt even a doctor anymore (its hard to keep a medical license after removing someone’s entire skeleton). For a dude who stole all of his friend’s souls and literally outsmarted devil... he’s not THAT bad. I mean, sure he abandoned his team to fight against them just so he could commit more atrocities against nature. Sure, he only has an evil smile and demented laugh. But uh... he is... nice to his doves? Yeah ok nevermind I cant really defend this guy. Being a little evil is... kinda sexy though (look up medic cosmetic “The Burly Beast”). In game, my medigun is named “Press E To Send Me To Therapy”. E is the call for medic button. I am a medic main and I am so, so tired. 10/10 “ZHAT was doctor assisted homocide!”

Spy: french asshole. seems pretencious and unattached but he really isnt. actions speak louder than words spy, and even if you had to tell scout you were his father disguised as tom jones, at least you did it. if i play spy i get overly excited at backstabbing someone because i suck at it. 6/10 oui oui effle tower baguette i love making fun of the french

Jin

Jin would be embarrassed and awkward about for sure. He doesn't seem like the type to show affection in front of everyone so when you did exactly that he would feel a bit awkward.

You had been trying to get his attention all night long.Nothing worked. But as you watched him laugh and have fun with the boys you couldn't help but feel a little jealous. So you walked over to the couch where he was sitting. You lifted up his chin and turned his face towards yourself and gave him a little peck. That got his attention pretty good. “J-jagi..” He mumbled with a stunned expression on his face. You shrugged in response. You could see his ears getting red which meant he was embarrassed. He thought it was really adorable what you did, but that didn't stop him from feeling awkward.

Yoongi

Yoongi wouldnt care a whole lot if just kissed him to get his attention. I think he would be smug about it because he would be reassured that you really did care if he paid attention to you or not. 

Yoongi had been ignoring you all day for some reason. You finally had enough and asked him why he was ignoring you. You grabbed him by his wrist pulled him towards yourself and gave him a kiss. You tried to pour all your frustration in that kiss and he felt it. He smiled against your lips. “Stop being a jerk” you told him. He chuckled and looked in your eyes. “I am not ignoring you y/n, I am just stressed” At those words you kissed him again. “Better?” You smiled up at him. “If I get kisses like this every time I get stressed and not pay attention to you, then I shall do this everyday” he would smile his specially gummy smile at you.

Namjoon

I think he would be taken aback initially because it would be so sudden but he wouldnt be too embarrassed about it like Jin. I can see him erupting into giggles at your behaviour because he would find it very adorable. 

Namjoon had been busy the whole day. He was getting phone calls from here , there and everywhere. As a result the plan to spend the day with with you had been sabotaged. You stood on your tippy toes in front of him and pouted. You pointed to your lips and he immediately understood. He chuckled and bent down to give you what you wanted. “Any specific reason for trying to kill me with your cuteness today y/n?” he smiled warmly. You shook your head and walked away happy that your boyfriend paid a lil bit of attention to you.

Hoseok

Hoseok would be really happy if you did it spontaneously I think. He would be into cute displays of affection like this so he would love it that you tried to get his attention with a kiss, and he would oblige right away. 

He was busy texting his sister, which was okay with you, but you wanted him to pay attention to you too. You moved closer to him and looped your arm around his neck. “Hopie” you whispered and kissed his neck. He chuckled lightly, however he was still texting. You sighed. You took the phone from his hand and put it on your side of the bed. You cupped his face and kissed him. “ Did my jagi want my attention?” He asked in a cute voice. You nodded. “You are way too adorable for me to ignore you” he would lightly tap your nose, and give you a bear squeezy hug, and leave kisses all over your face making you giggle.

Jimin

He would be surprised when you kissed him out of nowhere, and he would laugh. But he would just die internally at how cute you were being and get all shy and blushy (cue fluffy chimchim)

You were very hyper for some reason and Jimin had his hands full with you. He went to take a breather, but again you followed him out. “Chimchim..” you tapped his shoulder. When he turned to look at you, you hid behind him and tapped his other shoulder. When he turned around you placed a kiss on his lips. “Jagi!! Stop it. Why are you doing this to me?” he would whine and hide his face in his hands making you laugh. “Because I love you” you would kiss the hands that were placed on his face and run away. He would sigh and just give up with you but he wouldn't be able to stop smiling.

Taehyung

I think he would be a lot like Hoseok. He would be just be all giddy, giggly, and smiley. He wouldn’t get enough of your kiss so he would ask for more and then you would have trouble on your hands. 

He was busy playing overwatch (haha no surprise). He wasn't paying attention to you and also broke his promise of cuddling. You went up to him and hugged him from behind and tightened your arms around his torso. You kissed his shoulder, and made your way upto his neck. “Y/n that tickles” he warned you and laughed. You changed your mind and sat on his lap. You kissed his cheek lightly and his cheeks tinted a shade of pink. “My lips are pretty too. They deserve a kiss as well” and he would pout. When you kissed him softly he would kiss your nose softly in return. “For distracting me your punishment is… A tickle attack!!” and then he would proceed to tickle you filling the house with sounds of laughter.

Jungkook

Kookie would get shy as soon as you kissed him. He would smile and he wouldn’t be able to contain the butterflies that were erupting in his stomach because of it. He would just giggle and blush because it was the most adorable thing ever.

He was completely immersed in the movie that you guys were watching. He didn't respond when you asked him what he wanted for dinner. You snaked your arms around his neck from the back of the couch and started leaving kisses on his jaw. That didn't do anything, so as a last resort you popped your head in front of him which scared him a little. While laughing you pecked his lips. “Are we back to reality yet?” You asked while smiling. His face flushed red, and he looked down trying to avoid eye contact with you. He nodded his head. “So what do you want for dinner?” You asked as you finally had his attention. “Anything” he replied, but he didn't care what you gave him because his heart was reeling with happiness.

‘Okay so here are the in-depth character bs stuff I dont have much For Ahiro or Yao. Solace and Asuga will be talked about later....

Starting off with Lee, Here is the ‘Quick note:’ chapter about him (and yao)

Wotm8:

wotm8 is a character I have created by the name of Lee Chanyeol, His hero name is Beat Drop. His quirk is the ability to create a sound wave upon hitting any object, including other people. So in theory, a wave/quake of sound that could potentially trip or injure an enemy/Villain. Quirk Looks: like Present Mic's when he yells, Image example, the circles at least, But the circle's - or whatever they are??!?!? - would be a white/clear colour. The 'drop' would only be used through his feet or hands. His inspiration was 'Lucio: Overwatch'.

Lee Chanyeol is -in my mind- 5′9 or 5′10, has short blonde hair (see Wotm8), several piercings in both ears, almond or oval-shaped dark blue eyes. Lee is 18, a third year at UA.SKD. He would wear vintage or sporty clothes. His favourite is an oversized sweater, with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans, white or black socks and neon basketball shoes ((any neon colour, orange and green being his favourite)). He wears a fit bit and goes to the gym every week (on Thursdays because Wednesday was cancelled). He listens to paranormal and supernatural podcasts and has to say that is favourites are ‘And That's Why We Drink’ and ‘Welcome To Nightvale’. He enjoys listening to absolutely anything but does not like heavy metal. His biggest secret is that he is in love with Ravi and that he listens to Baby Metal.

Next up is Ayano:

Her birth name is, Kuzekara Ayano, she hates going by Kuzekara and will threaten to throw you off the roof and not save you. She currently -and forever- goes by Aizawa-Yamada Ayano, after being adopted into the Aizawa-Yamada Family. She is 17 years old, one year older than Hitoshi, which makes Ayano a second year at UA.SKD. She is 5'7.5 and weights somewhere around 125lbs to 130lbs ((pounds))

Ayano has shoulder length hazel brown hair, light brown almond-shaped eyes and lightly tanned skin. She has numerous scars on hands from a number of stupid things as well as several scars on her body from previous fights. ((Stupid things being: pouring hot water for tea into a cup but burning herself in the process)). Ayano loves listening to her Papa's radio show at any time of the day, Reading her favourite books in the living room on the couch with a comfy blanket, dancing around the house with Hitsohi while singing along to all the 'meme songs'. Ayano hates when she has to go on duty in the rain ((despite loving the rain)), she hates when Ahiro spreads his wings and purposefully hits her in the face. Her best friends and fellow teammates are Ahiro Tooru, Takahashi Kaoru, Lee Chanyeol, Wei Yao, Kim Aria, Yamato Asuga, Ravi Patel and Dao Katsumi - As well as class 1-A.

Her Quirk is Teleportation. She has a few drawbacks, which are as follows. She needs to have slept for at least 10 hours. If she teleports too much in one day without sleeping periodically throughout the day then she will pass out. Teleportation amount is unlimited, it depends on her energy levels.

Ayano goes by Aya at school, cause its part of her name and when you put all her initials together its AY.A. She doesn't have a class after lunch, so she goes to her dorm and sleeps for an hour and a half before eating her lunch and going back to school.

Ayano is Asexual!

Next up is Yao ((and the little information about her))

Kokobop:

Kokobop is another character that I have created by the name of Wei Yao. Yao is known as a 'Search and Rescue Hero'. Her quirk is the ability to 'look' through any item of technology and 'find' the person she has been sent to look for. The quirk only comes into play if she can have/hold on to /see an image of who she is looking for. Quirk Looks/Structure: Like Ene from 'Mekaku City Actors' she can 'go into' others phones, tv's, tablets and any other device connected to the internet or using data.  Her Quirk has a 6-hour max limit and a 5-minute min limit.  Yao, because of her quirk and her family connections, she is a member of the Chinese mafia, as well as the Yakuza. More or less she makes sure that their people don't get taken by the police while staying on the good side of the police. Her Inspiration was 'Ene: Mekaku City Actors'

Wei Yao is  5′4 or 5′5, weighing around 120-125lbs. Yao is in her second year at UA. SKD, making her 17. Yao is on the smaller side, while everyone in her family is taller than 5′7. Yao likes to think that because of her height, she can get away with alot more things. ((Like murder)).  Yao has 3 siblings, Wei Shen and Wei Shou (Twins) who are both 17 and her younger sister Wei Kai (she goes by kaikai).  Secret about Yao: because of her height, she fits into children's clothes and shoes, which makes it easier when she’s trying to get away with murder ((She has killed a few people))

Next we have Takahashi Kaoru:

Takahashi Kaoru is 17, turning 18, making him a third year at UA.SKD.  Kaoru is 5′7, weighing around 135-140lbs. Kaoru’s Quirk is the ability to create any plant at will, must be touching dirt in some way, shape or form. He can only create a plant that would grow in that environment, his favourite being vines or roots, which can grow nearly anywhere. 

Kaoru was born in Akihabara Japan, but due to a family promise, he was sent to Tashiro-Jima island, to live with his grandparents. While living with them he was constantly surrounded by the elderly and cats. He had applied for the UA hero program after learning that he could use any plant to his advantage. He often was asked to go to the local supermarket (a two-hour boat ride there and back) to get certain herbs, vegetables, fruits, etc..., so he would use his quirk to grow the herbs and give them to his grandparents ((to not waste money)). He had left his grandparents but he had promised call them every week.

Kaoru is dating Ahiro and is in a serious relationship with Ahiro. They are also teammates. Kaoru likes being in and around plants or nature, he dislikes winter but has started to hate it less and less recently. He loves spring and summer because of the rain and constant sun.  

Kaoru -in my mind- is not weak, but not ‘i can throw this car’ strong, he is decently strong.  Kaoru is constantly tan, no matter what, hes tan. Although in the winter his skin is pale. He would be one to wear oversized sweaters with leggings or a dress shirt with a sweater over it, and some form of dress pants or jeans.

 Kaoru is one of those people who will do whatever it takes to make you happy. He loves pastel colours, as well as the neons. His favourite colour is pale lime green, out of all the green’s his favourite is Shamrock Green. He listens to chill, house, deep chill and classical music as well as traditional Japanese music.

Now we have Ahiro Tooru:

“Murder: my names Ahiro Tooru.”

Ahiro Tooru or Ahiro is 17 years old, he is 5′8. Ahiro has wings on his back, much like Hawks, but his are black, like a crow so his hero name is Crow.

Ahiro is the boyfriend who wears clothes that fit him very well and you would think ‘oo they fit him almost too well’. so something like this [Ahiro].  Ahiro is Gay.
