Fire Emblem Awakening: Reclass Relation to Characters
I’ve gushed about this already in Fates, and 3H has a similar concept in regards to skill levels and such, but Awakening also does this, so I thought to lay it out.
Putting it under the cut because it got really long lol.
Chrom: Cavalier and Archer. Typical heroic classes, access to all physical weapon types, almost all of the resulting classes have sword access for Falchion.
Lissa: Pegasus Knight because she’s a pure maiden, Troubadour because she’s a member of high society + connection to Maribelle. Could also relate to her staff training.
Frederick: Knight because he’s an Ylissean knight. Wyvern Rider because he has a subtle inclination for violence.
Sully: Myrmidon because she was trained by Frederick. Wyvern Rider because she’s a crass bruiser who loves to fight people.
Virion: Wyvern Rider because Wyverns are native to Valm in Awakening’s time and he’s from Rosanne. Mage because he’s actually a high society noble.
Stahl: Archer because he prefers letting other people have the spotlight. Myrmidon because he was trained by Frederick.
Vaike: Thief and Barbarian because he was a poor schmuck raised in the slums.
Miriel: Troubadour and Dark Mage gives her access to all Tome wielding classes, sans Tactician and Dark Flier, so she really wants to use any kind of magic to uncover the universe’s secrets.
Sumia: Knight because she has a stubborn streak and wants to defend the people she loves. Cleric because she’s super kind and wants to support others in several ways.
Kellam: Thief because he’s never able to be seen. Priest because he likes helping people.
Donnel: Fighter because he was never properly trained to fight. Mercenary because he had incredible combat potential.
Lon’qu: Thief because he doesn’t like small talk and keeps parts of his past hidden. Wyvern Rider because he’s from Chon’sin.
Ricken: Cavalier and Archer because he looks up to Chrom so much that he has the same reclass options.
Maribelle: Pegasus Knight because she’s a pure maiden. Mage because she’s a high society noble.
Panne: Thief because her race is near extinct and so she keeps hidden. Wyvern Rider to connect her to animals, and to evoke a “foreign/outsider” image among Ylisseans.
Gaius: Fighter because he’s uncouth. Myrmidon because he has lots of experience in spite of his appearance.
Cordelia: Mercenary because she’s an exceptionally talented fighter. Dark Mage because she has hidden feelings that she’s a bit ashamed of. Having these classes also means she has access to every weapon type. Genius indeed.
Gregor: Barbarian because he looks like a brute. Myrmidon because he’s an experienced fighter, so much so that he nearly beat Basilio in becoming West-Khan.
Nowi: Mage because she has mystical powers as a Manakete. Wyvern Rider to reference her heritage + to give her a “foreign/outsider” image.
Libra: Mage because he has surprisingly cynical views on things sometimes (Natural/Anima/Earthly magic vs Healing being tied to faith/religion). Dark Mage because he has a dark past he keeps hidden away.
Tharja: Knight to keep Robin safe directly and Archer to keep Robin safe from far away.
Anna: Archer because she’s utilitarian. Mage because she’s a mysterious constant in the FE series.
Olivia: Myrmidon because she’s a surprisingly talented sword fighter. Pegasus Knight because she’s a pure maiden.
Cherche: Troubadour and Cleric because she’s trained as a domestic servant for a noble house.
Henry: Barbarian and Thief because he was raised by animals for a good portion of his life and has a terrible past and twisted personality that affected his morality.
Say’ri: Pegasus Knight because she’s a pure maiden. Wyvern Rider because she’s from Chon’sin.
Tiki: Wyvern Rider and Mage, same as Nowi; keeping in touch with her heritage and her mystical abilities. The former class could also be because she resides in Valm now.
Basilio: Barbarian because he’s a crass warrior king. Knight because he’s as stubborn as an ox.
Flavia: Thief because Ferox has rough-and-tumble warriors as opposed to noble, knightly ones like Ylisse. Knight because she’s just as stubborn as Basilio.
Gangrel: Barbarian because he grew up on the streets. Dark Mage because he’s fucking nuts.
Walhart: Knight because he doesn’t submit to anyone until killed or beaten hard enough. Wyvern Rider because he’s Valmese.
Emmeryn: Pegasus Knight because she’s a pure maiden. Troubadour because she’s high society. Also the same classes that Lissa has, gives off a cute sisterly vibe.
Yen’fay: Wyvern Rider because he’s from Chon’sin. Archer because he keeps himself detached and separate from the rest of the party-especially Say’ri-because he’s not originally from this world.
Aversa: Wyvern Rider because of her ruthless personality (maybe she’s originally Valmese, too). Dark Mage because she’s noted to be gifted with magic.
Priam: Myrmidon because he’s a great swordfighter. Fighter because he’s a fucking hobo who lives to fight stronger people lol. The classes also let him use swords and axes to keep his connection to Ike.
And while child characters just inherit classes from their parents, some start with different classes, and that ties into personalities as well.
Owain: Myrmidon because he’s trained in House Ylisse’s sword techniques.
Inigo: Mercenary cuz you obviously can’t have two dancers, but he probably inherited Olivia’s skill with a blade regardless.
Brady: Priest because of gender locks, but also cuz he’s sensitive under the tough guy persona and scary face.
Kjelle: Knight because she canonically sucked at riding horses.
Severa: Mercenary because she wanted to escape Cordelia’s shadow.
Noire: Archer because of her reclusive personality.

Hi, this is your soulmate from another life, and I was just wondering, which Awakening character is the most like you?
oh goodness this is a hard question
Because there are a lot of characters that I really relate to?  Like, a lot?  this is also a big part of the reason why i have trouble picking one favorite
I feel a lot like Miriel sometimes because I can get super engrossed in something to the point of completely missing everything else around me, and don’t actually realize when or if I’ve lost people unless they say something (which is especially true when I start digging into science stuff – don’t get me started on anything pokemon related, that gets messy)
My inner voice feels a lot like Sully, since even if I don’t necessarily feel like I can let it out, it has the same aggressive no-nonsense energy and associated aggravation when people have been doing stupid things and making a mess for others (apparently when I do vent that inner voice, it can scare people, which isn’t my intention, but doesn’t exactly disprove the Sully connection).
Sumia’s escapist tendencies and love of literature (and especially her love of trying to act out the roles of characters she admires) is also extremely familiar – not just because I definitely used books as an escape, myself, but because fanfiction for me involves getting so deep into a character that I know how they would act and react to things – becoming them, in a sense, for the sake of writing them.
Lissa’s apparent Imposter Syndrome (present in her insecurities about her Brand and what its absence means) also speak to me very powerfully, and I relate hard to those questions about belonging.  …though, also, I definitely relate hard to her trickster nature, too (I’m a goblin when I want to be, @gunhorse can attest).
I’ve always related really strongly to Robin.  That calming, caring presence that’s always trying to help others while dealing with so much deep down, that gives so much without asking anything in return, no matter how much they might want or need it…that has always hit me right in the heart, because that’s how I feel way more than I care to admit.
I could probably go on but this is probably enough to get started basically I have traits of a lot of characters and it makes writing them easy but picking favorites hard haha whoops ovo;

( 1 ) klein & cynthia.
hmmm. they’d get along, i think! klein’s used to high-energy individuals -- just look at his sister -- and he’s got a lot of respect for the ilian pegasus knights, so that’d transfer well into a lot of respect for cynthia. especially once he hears about her and the other fe13 kids’ story about growing up in an apocalyptic wasteland. he’d want her to know that if there’s ever anything she and the others need, he’d be happy to help them out! so yeah. they’d be friends! ( get on his case about thea, cynthia, do it. pester him. )
( 2 ) irene & cynthia.
....IT KNOWS
so anyways, we’ve talked about this and... sisters!!! and i think i will actually be switching irene’s default mom to sumia. so. S I S T E R S. irene loves her big sister to bits and looks up to her, and wants to be a hero just like her, she’s just got another way of going about it-- she’s also sorry about the whole pulling a frey thing. pls forgive her for that, cyn.
( 3 ) nowi & cynthia.
LET AUNTIE NOWI LOVE YOU AND TAKE YOUR MIND OFF STRESS BY PLAYING GAMES WITH YOU AND CATCH YOU OFF GUARD BY DISPENSING NUGGETS OF MATURITY AND WISDOM--
no but seriously, nowi l o v e s all the future kids, not just nah. she’s going to take care of ALL of them in her own way, and like heck is she going to die this time around!!!
( 4 ) guinivere & cynthia.
... oh man this could actually be really cute in a heroes verse. ( guinivere in heroes when, intsys-- )
guin’s at a point in her life where she really, desperately needs a friend. she betrayed her kingdom and older brother in an attempt to put an end to a war, watched him die because he was too far gone and just couldn’t let go of his misanthropic worldview... then she had to take his throne, despite knowing she’d likely be hated by her people. so cynthia -- bold, kind, charming cynthia -- befriending her would be just so so so so good for her!!! she’d be swept off her feet by this absolute darling of a hero, and develop a crush pretty quickly tbh??
the one sad thing about it is... they’d both have to go home eventually. guinivere would love to just... run away to ylisse with cynthia, but her kingdom, whether they care for her or not, needs her now. she can’t. rip guin.
( 5 ) meira & cynthia.
lemme just copy and paste the quick blurb for mei on the other ask real quick...
for a bit of context meira’s one of my custom mus for awakening, though she operates under a ‘raised by validar’ au alongside her older half-sister, my friend’s robin. both born with the fell brand, meira ended up raised as a bodyguard and potential replacement for her sister– until robin herself got cold feet about becoming grima’s vessel, took meira, and ran. as a result, mei doesn’t have much of a sense of self.
well cyn’s a second gen so all shipping is out, but i could potentially see mei as cynthia’s other mom??? it carries the same tragedy as having the mu as cyn’s other parent, only this time cyn loses both her mother and her aunt, both mysteriously vanishing shortly after chrom’s death... and one of them becomes grima, not that she would know that.
but geez it’d probably be a shock, seeing her once vibrant, opinionated and full of life mother an uncertain shell trying to figure out her own identity.
if they aren’t related then cynthia’s proooobably a little overwhelming for mei, but she’d appreciate her cheer and heroic nature!

Dragon Age Questionnaire
Tagged by the ever-lovely @lakambaeni! I’m sorry it always takes me forever to get to your tags.
Tagging: @battlefox, @tyishi, @aurianavaloria, and any other DA fans that follow me! But, as always, there’s no obligation to fill the tag :)
01) Favourite game of the series? I think DAI is my favorite in the series, because it was the one that really pulled me into the fandom.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age? As is usual for my entrance to fandom, it started with blogs I follow starting to share content about the game. (This was a little bit before DAI dropped.) It seemed cool, and @likhoradka had made a quick Handers comic that amused me, but I didn’t really get into it until @battlefox lent me a copy of DA2 so that I could see what all the hype was about.
03) How many times you’ve played the games? I’ve played all three games through to completion once; with DAO, I played most of the DLCs that were concurrent to the base game, but I only played the vanilla games for DA2 and DAI. HOWEVER, I have started several additional playthroughs, to the point where I have a small army of characters.
04) Favourite race to play as? Elves! Though, to be fair, this is a bias I generally have in fantasy settings.
05) Favourite class? Mages, because, again, the bias followed me from the fantasy setting in general.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? I try to play to each character, but I still usually end up making the same decisions (so far).
07) Go-to adventuring group?
DAO: Alistair/Dog, Leliana, Zevran
DA2: Varric, Fenris, Anders
DAI: Since this is the one that I have the most characters in, this is more varied depending on the playthrough, but my PERSONAL favorite combination is Varric, Dorian, and Iron Bull.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into? Definitely Enansal, even though she’s just a glorified self-insert. I just write about her the most.
09) Favourite romance? Probably Cullen, but that’s because I’ve done that one twice.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books? I haven’t got a chance to, yet! I did buy myself a copy of “Asunder,” but I haven’t had time to actually read it.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book? TBD ;)
12) Favourite DLCs? I mean, I do love “The Stone Prisoner,” because it gives you Shale, and I love them so much.
13) Things that annoy you. Mooostly the fandom. This is why I keep to myself and my little corner amongst the lovely people behind @dadrunkwriting and @asiansofthedas.
14) Orlais or Ferelden? Ferelden, because it’s always given me Celtic vibes and therefore reminds of Ireland :)
15) Templars or mages? Mages.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? I personally have them existing in parallel universes. However, I like the idea that all of the DAO characters end up joining the Wardens at some point or another. I also do have two separate Tabris playthroughs that have become my “Tabris twins” headcanon.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
Veleda’s mabari is Rowan. Since my first playthrough with Sylvia was with the vanilla game, she didn’t have her mabari, so I still haven’t thought of a name. Enansal and Cullen name their mabari Buster. Most of my other playthroughs have named mabari, though, but I have way too many to name them all haha I also never named any mounts, probably because I didn’t know that they could be named!
18) Have you installed any mods? I wish I could, but I definitely don’t have the space or know-how to install them.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? Veleda definitely did not. She was actually more than happy to stay in the Circle, because she definitely started out as a huge Loyalist, and was upset that she was basically forced into leaving with Duncan. She was eventually glad for the opportunity to live in the “outside world” though.
20) Hawke’s personality? Sylvia ended up being true blue lol
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition? No. I usually prioritized stats (and sometimes individual colors).
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Veleda: She wouldn’t have betrayed Jowan. Being away from the Circle made her realize that she should have put more value in his friendship.
Sylvia: Even if it ultimately spared his life, she always regrets NOT taking Carver to the Deep Roads with her, because she hates the time that they spent apart.
Elera: She never would have left her Clan prior to the events of DAI.
Enansal: She wishes she never had gotten involved with Aaric.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? Not particularly? I’d say my biggest canon-breaking content is my Tabris twins and my Kremquisitor playthrough.
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone? Aisling Tabris, Sylvia Hawke, and Enansal Lavellan are all self-inserts, technically >_> Nan is the one that is most like me, though. Ash is my go-to persona when I make new characters, and Sylvia is really only a self-insert in the sense that all of her dialogue choices were based on what *I* would do in that situation.
25) Who did you leave in the Fade? Stroud, because holy frick, I could not break Varric’s heart like that.
26) Favourite mount? N/A

top 10 fire emblem/ top 5 bnha
oooh I’m ready for this *rubs hands together* also accompanied by way too long reasons why I love em
Fire Emblem (considering I’ve only played 13-15, some of 12, and heroes) also my original list had 18 characters… then I had to cut down,,
Sully (Awakening). I bought awakening for her, because I literally thought I could marry her. In technicality I could,, just not as a girl… Kjelle is also amazing and these two are like… gay culture. Also can’t cook and I don’t like cooking (conversely: I really enjoy baking)
Claire (Echoes) I love her personality and just overall character. Her love for Alm is pure and good and the possibilities of her relationship with either Alm or Gray are all just so good and I love her. Even though she originally comes off as stuck up she’s a Great Girl and I love her supports and her. Deserves the world.
Mae (Echoes) I’m weak for happy types and Mae is so perfect. I love Boey as well (as u already know) but of the two she is definitely my preferred. Not only does she kick butt as a unit but her english va is a m a z i n g so 11/10 character.
Lissa (Awakening) Another example of the happy types I’m so weak for. She’s just in general very likable to me and got me through a lot of classes in 8th grade ^^ I drew her a lot
Owain/Odin (Awakening, Fates) He’s just so quirky!! I couldn’t fully appreciate him until Fates but his supports are very lovable (Fates and Awakening alike). I don’t exactly like how they added this “translation” thing to whatever he says in heroes (and the fact that he’s just… so bad in that game) but hey, still the same Odin. Still love him.
Stahl (Awakening) I married him in my first Awakening run and honestly this man is my soulmate. he loves food and helping people and he’s just overall A Good. It’s hard to marry him off to other characters ^^;; if only he had supps w/ sumia….
Jesse (Fates) HOW TO WRITE A RELATABLE CHARACTER PT1 Jesse was SUCH an unexpected fav. normally the “flirtatious casanova philanderer” (all those words are basically the same…) archetype isn’t my… favorite, but I honestly like his idealism and I’m weak for blondes so that’s a thing. His casanova-ess is actually what initially made him really likable bc he said “women are the gods more perfect creation” and talked about how fierce everyone in the army is and like… same man.
Mitama (Fates) HOW TO WRITE A RELATABLE CHARACTER PT2 Mitama is t he  be s t like if Azama wasn’t enough quirky irony for you this girl really takes the cake. She’s always tired, always sassy, and probably gay so she’s best.
Cynthia (Awakening) Her supports are an amazing mix of SUPER silly and super insightful to how growing up shaped her personality? as a sibling to lucina, i find their supps fit the best personality wise, and her supps with Gerome, Owain, Nah, and Severa are my favorites. She’s a hyper, happy go lucky gal who’s also probably gay/bi. What more do I need? I am a simple woman.
Elise (Fates) she and Hinoka were initially my fav siblings in Fates but Elise took the cake bc she is 1) a REALLY good unit, even if early conquest gave you a second to healer elise is honestly second to none and 2) she’s a sweetheart. she didn’t deserve what happened to her in birthright, but it’s honestly perfectly in her character to be so self sacrificing. Also just the conditions she grew up in like I admire her bravery and happiness despite it all.
well that was wAY too long but I’ll try be short and sweet w/ top 5 bnha!!
Mina Ashido (Alien Queen/Pinky) without a single moment of hesitation, Mina is Best Girl. Another case of not enough attention but whenever she does get any it’s really nice and she’s so good? so happy… so pink… I also love her quirk, I want to see her use it more. And she’s been confirmed as very physically strong, so i also wanna sEE THEM ABS
Ochako Uraraka (Uravity!!) one of my favorite things about mha fandom so far is that even with the massive popularity of mlm ships (esp involving deku), I haven’t seen a single person try to bash the het ones, or bash the female character of that ship. Which is good because this girl deserves NO SHADE. NONE. She is A++++ all around, she’s sweet and her motives for being a hero are just… so relatable? I too, work very hard in hopes to support my mom really well when I’m older. I cry with you Uraraka… but…… pls don’t cry….. b l s
Tenya Iida (Tenya/Ingenium) The literal definition of a Good Boy like this kid is so earnest and a nice twist on the ‘smart glasses kun’ trope?? It’s not a h u g e twist, but instead of him being a cold robot who only cares about school and rules blah blah blah it’s just apparent from the beginning that he’s human? And his quirkiness is so befitting of his personality, he’s just in general so lovable. Not to forget, I feel in most shonen anime, a character with Iida’s archetype would be pushed to the side, yet in heroaca they make use of him as a main character and that’s so beautiful imo… Just in general the uraraka/iida/deku squad is a breath of fresh air.
Hatsume Mei (no hero name?) I love how dedicated she is to her inventions, it reminds me of myself with art ^^;; she could go on and on about her babies, as could I about art for days, honestly… So I have respect for her, and her pink hair ofc ;)
Eijiro Kirishima/Momo Yaoyorozu (Red Riot/Creati) I couldn’t choose between these two because I love them both very much,, Kirishima is a Sunshine Boy who’s self sacrificing for his friends which is more than enough to have me like him. Momo is cool headed and very smart, and I find her very admirable. I wish the anime/manga paid more attention to her, considering her quirk alone should be enough to make her a top class contender (since that seems to be a thing that is enforced. so far the top club consists of Todoroki, Deku, Bakugo, and Kirishima but like… we got no girls in there,, why Horikoshi… my heart hurts) but idk I take what I can get.
ok well I’m done boring yall with my dorking out on anime/video game characters. I love talking about my favs!!!

Fandom Bum Grapes ~ Headaches Courtesy of the Fandom ~ Part I
Subjected myself to a whole lot of fandom fail that only succeeded in making my headache worse. Thought I'd share some of the "highlights?" "Gems?" And my brief thoughts on it. It's hidden behind a cut because I do talk about some of the sexist language used, which might be upsetting for some. I did try and censor the worst with the Asterisk of Kindness.
That and the stupid hurts.
And I love you all too much.
WARNING: SEXIST NASTY LANGUAGE FROM "FANS," NOT MY WORDS. DON’T READ IF YOU FIND THAT KIND OF THING UPSETTING.
* Zoicite (Sailor Moon) being a "sl*tty girl" in the Dub, but a beautiful, perfect, flawless ANGEL OF A GAY BOY in the original. I understand that localisation changes are a right pain when they remove anything that isn't straight, when boys turn into girls in same sex relationships or they become cousins, but that's no reason to chew out female characters for being female. It's another one of those YAOI OBSESSED FANGIRL, EWW GIRLS ARE ICKY" situations. * "All vaginas are gross." Yes, that actually got said in a discussion about Fire Emblem. To justify yaoi ships. * Calling the Sailor Scouts in Sailor Moon "anti-feminist whores" because they fell in love with men. And using a whole list of other misogynist language against the female characters AND THE CREATOR OF SAILOR MOON BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T LIKE CRYSTAL. For shame. * Calling Severa (and pretty much every female character) from Fire Emblem Awakening every sexist name under the sun and being being unable to give legit reasons as to why you dislike her without using offensive language. Oh, but Yarne/M!Morgan OTP ♥♥♥ (Seriously, I thought we were passed this kind of thing.) * On the opposing side of the spectrum, the overly vocal shaming shippers of same sex pairings because it is "wrong" and - more importantly - "not canon." In the same sentence, someone decried Fire Emblem ships like Inigo/Gerome and Lissa/Maribelle while praising straight ships like Gerome/Lucina and Chrom/Sumia. Do I need to explain the fallacy here? (Big freaking hint: IT'S FIRE EMBLEM.) And you can ship anything you want as long as you are respectful about it. * Every time you use the "f*g" word casually, you will lose me. That's a promise. * Labelling any female character you don't like a Mary Sue when they're... not? They have flaws and issues to overcome, which kind of goes against being a Mary Sue? Girl smiles, BAM, Mary Sue. Like, being sweet, kind and nice are considered bad things. You sure it's not about something else? (I'm not talking about characters that are very much cookie cutter tropes that suffer from characterisation issues and are seldom fleshed out. I mean characters that DO have depth and stuff going on, but the haters fail to see it. Or ignore it completely.) * Bad problem in the Persona 4 fandom. Endorsing physical abuse because it's towards a guy is not cool. Even if said character is a bit problematic at times, that's still not a reason to say it's okay that they get beaten up. And may the Goddess have mercy on those special brands of fanbums that say Yosuke is WORSE THAN A SERIAL KILLER. No. * Fans of old school FFVII who insist you can't like the Compilation. Hello? It's possible to like both. I do. If you have your reasons for not quite liking Advent Children, Crisis Core and the like, that's cool, but don't act like you have to choose between the two and if you do by some miracle like all of it (even while understanding its flaws,) you are less of a fan. I played FFVII upon release. I've been around for a good few years (fandom oldie represent.) And if you act like Advent Children Cloud is "emo" and "out of character" because of how he behaved in the early stages of FVII? You... weren't paying attention. * On a similar note, fans who bash and hate and spew about a series or character... that makes no sense because the stuff they're ranting about either never happened or is blown out of proportion. Did you actually watch or play it, or are you jumping on the band wagon of other bashers? * Hating a character for getting in the way of your ship, wishing death and all manner of sexist slurs their way? Boo. * Really bad in the Persona 4 fandom, but can relate to many fandoms (Why are my favourite fandoms really rough places?) If you favour the canon to a particular character, cool. If you prefer your headcanon about the same character, also cool. When you declare your way to be the One True Way and bash others and try to shame them in comments, not cool. Be excellent to each other. I understand representation is an important thing, but bullying someone else for opting for the canon interpretation or their own personal idea makes the fandom suck as a whole. (Character in question: Naoto Shirogane, Persona 4. If you're in the fandom, you know why.) * Sugar coating and glossing over the bad stuff a character does, especially a villain. You can like a character while acknowledging and understanding their behaviour and the decisions they make. Woobifying the bad guy, victim shaming the ones they hurt and glorifying the bad things they do is not the way of being a fan. * Mirroring the last sentiment, someone who likes an antagonist or villain doesn't mean they accept what they do as a good thing. You can like a negative character and call them out on their bad guy ways.
Head hurting like the wow. I'm calling it quits, but I might make this a regular thing based on what I find.
