Ultimate Hot Chocolate Recipe
Servings: 2 mugs
Time estimate: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened dutch process cocoa powder (although regular unsweetened cocoa powder will work just fine)
(optional) spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, chili powder, etc. to taste
(optional) toppings such as whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, candy canes, etc. to taste
Instructions:
Heat heavy cream, water, brown sugar, and cocoa powder in pot over medium heat.
Stir mixture until you reach your desired thickness. I stir until it can coat the back of the spoon. This takes some time, so be patient.
If adding spices, add a bit of hot water to your mug and add pinches of your desired spices into the water to make sure they dissolve.
Add hot chocolate mixture to mug.
If the hot chocolate ends up too thick for your taste, thin it out with a bit of hot water or milk.
Add desired toppings and enjoy!
#recipe#recipes#hot chocolate#happy holidays#the amount of tinkering this hot chocolate recipe went through is a lot and obviously it's very much my personal taste but everyone i've#made this hot chocolate for has always said it tastes amazing so#also the reason you add your seasonings last is 1. so they dissolve properly and 2. so you don't accidentally overseason your hot chocolate#which is VERY easy to do if you try to add your seasoning at the start of the process#also the combination of heavy cream with water gives it more body than just using milk and also if you only use heavy cream it's more likel#to do terrible terrible things to your bowels and i say this as someone who isn't lactose intolerant#i also refuse to take water based hot chocolate slander#do u know how hard it is to dissolve shit in just pure heavy cream or milk#the water is there to actually homogenize the mixture
