Not to localizationpost but the reason Daigo's line sounds off is because it is <3 Not in that it's a mistranslation per se... He was saying he felt like he was the only coward among them, and "You're making me look like I have no balls." is One Way You Could Put That I Guess, but it loses his established character voice and is at odds with the delivery.
It's actually even more Kansai-like in the dub script, since dropping the G like this is near-exclusive to Kansai:
In Gaiden, I've noticed there's been a significant hemorrhaging of dialects that has at best been hastily cleaned-up. It's most evident with Nishitani III because he was, practically up until release day, localized like he's from Kansai even though he doesn't speak Kansai at all. I think I last talked about that before the game came out, but having experienced the game, there are still remnants of that in parts of the sub script and especially the dub script. You can also see it pop up with Kiryu using words like " 'bout" and " 'course," which He Would Not Say.
The introduction of slang where it doesn't really belong and the mixups with the dialects are relatively minor issues... until you have the accidental sexual abuse censorship fiasco on your hands because you decided to translate from Kanto rather than Kansai... lol...
In that instance and that instance only I feel entitled to monetary compensation from the localization team for all 60+ tweets I had to see questioning Shishido's abuse (yes I counted) (for this week's/tomorrow's video) because GODDDDD I can't even blame the players at that point... I just feel it fundamentally changes how you look at Shishido and Nishitani As Characters I will neverrrrr be over it I'm sorry...
On another note, while I'm talking about Shishido, setting aside the many actual mistranslations with his dialogue, I do kind of feel like they struggled with his character voice. He's notably much more polite than you'd expect, and I could tell the effect Yokoyama and Furuta were originally going for was something along the lines of the contrast between Mine and Jo's usual formality (depending on who they're addressing anyway Lol) and how vulgar and aggressive they get when they snap, just with the added layer of Shishido not looking as outwardly professional/put-together as those two.
Like. Y'know. It's not that Kansai is casual in and of itself, it's that many Kansai characters speak more casually and there's a higher ceiling for how colorful their language can get, but you still have to keep the individual character's voice in mind... Shishido also slips into the Kanto dialect on occasion, which has interesting implications for his character, and it's somewhat disappointing to not see that noted when the team for K2 did note when Sayama switched accents lol...
Anyway none of that matters what does matter is that in the scene you were referencing, in spite of making Daigo's line more vulgar than it is, they replaced Shishido calling everyone "dickcheeses" with "pricks" LIKE C'MOOONNNN YOU'RE TELLING ME JO CAN TALK ABOUT TEATS BUT SHISHI CAN'T GET PROPER NARSHTY... I get that it's kind of an unwieldy phrase but c'mooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn it's his birthdayyyyy
i woulda just bout lost every marble i had left if they really let shishido get away with callin everyone smegma liiiikkkeee i wouldn't have survived LOL
#long post#havent used that in a. /long/ while HAH GOTTEM anyway.#snap chats#anyway thats fun :) <- its not fun 'interesting' is a word that exists and fits#yeah sorry you had to deal with. The Affects Of Localization LMAO ITS WHY I TRY NOT TO MENTION IT MUCH#its an annoying topic so i try dodging it and yet i failed.. the line is still really funny to me. ill try to stop talkin bout it tho#there is a point is 'loss in character voice' tho since. thats what I Think i was rambling bout in my post lol#but yeah. thats fun :) <- its still not fun#despite shishido Looking Like That adn Being Built Like That at the very least i did feel like he was SOMEWHAT polite#idk how to describe it but i didnt feel like he was as vulgar or . bombastic(?) as ryuji (who he was compared to at some point)#NOT A BAD THING OF COURSE i should stop talking :) i dont have a phd in. anything LOL but esp not shishido#i dont know what im talking about half the time anyway... lol...

Am I On the Screen? (P.2)
Title: Am I On the Screen? (Part 2) Pairing: Ransom Drysdale x Fem!Reader Summary: Hugh is a prick and the reader gets herself into trouble with him with her attitude. Hugh has the perfect plan to keep her in line though. Words: 2,116 Warnings: S M U T, language, dub-con, blackmail, masturbation, online sex Author’s Note: This is a duology! It is complete.
Part One || Masterpost (mobile) || Fanfic masterpost
Hugh sat you in his lap, driving up into you, finding a new angle to hit your g spot.
“Look at me,” he demanded.
His smile was wolfish, sweat beading on his forehead.
Tits bouncing as he thrust up into you, you bit your bottom lip. You hated seeing that smile on his face and wished he had wanted to fuck you from behind. But he wanted to see it… he wanted to see you come undone. He was fucking you right too, and you were so close. It almost made up for the fact of who was buried inside you.
Hugh’s fingers found your clit in between the two of you, and you whimpered, moaning for him.
“Mhm, you dirty slut,” he jeered, his voice rasping. “Who does this pussy belong to?”
“You,” you gasped, not wanting him to stop as you ground yourself harder against his fingers. Your breath hitched as you tumbled down, thighs quivering.
Hugh’s chortle was dark and deep. His lips crashed into yours, his finger slipping away from your clit and his fingers digging into your hips as he gave a few more shallow thrusts. You were thankful the asshole had at least remembered to put on a condom.
<><><>
You answered the knock at your door and felt yourself deflate. Hugh was looming on the doorstep and moved past you before you had a chance to ask what he was doing there. Although, you had a good idea what it was. You had been ignoring him at work, only giving him clipped responses and paying attention to him only when absolutely necessary the past week. You were sure it was waning on him you were not bowing under his prowess. You were still angry with yourself for not only bending to his will on camera but allowing him into your home to finish himself. No matter how great both of those orgasms had been, they were tied to this egotistical prick.
He was carrying a gift bag you noticed as you closed the door and locked it.
“Hey, what are you—” you started to say when he began ascending the stairs without a word.
“I think you know exactly what I’m doing. I’m already half chubbed up just at the sight of you. Even in those horrendous clothes,” Hugh called over his shoulder.
Horrendous? You thought to yourself annoyed. It was just a baggy sweater and some pajama bottoms.
You followed him quickly up the stairs, making sure he did not go into your bedroom. He did not. He remembered what room your filming went on in. When you walked in after him, he tossed the gift basket onto the bed – must not be anything breakable. He shrugged his coat off, tossing it over the back of your chair.
“Mhm, you’ll give me a cut of profits for tonight.”
Confused, you threw your arms out. “You don’t need any money,” you told him slowly.
“And?”
“I am not giving you money. And I’m certainly not having sex with you on camera if that’s what you’re suggesting. Are you out of your mind?”
He was in front of you in a flash, setting you on edge. Hugh grabbed your wrist tightly when you tried to lean back. “Oh, you will. Because I’m gonna help you make a lot tonight. People love seeing a camgirl favorite fuck a fan. It won’t have to be live… we can blur out my face. Easy enough.”
Heat came to your cheeks and you tried to yank your wrist away from him, but he held tight.
“Hugh, let me go,” you said.
“I think you playing the little victim will look nice,” his breath hot on your neck. “Actually, it’s what I had planned. It’s like you’re reading my mind.”
“I’m not going to do that. Get out of my house.” You sounded braver than you felt.
“House? You live in a glorified apartment. Just because it has two floors—” Hugh was chuckling cruelly, and you cut him off.
“Did you not just hear me, you egotistical prick?”
Amusement gone in a second, Hugh slammed you up against the wall and you gasped in shock. His nose was inches from yours as he snarled, “Did you forget I’ve got you wrapped around my fucking finger, you little slut? I’ll leave when I’m good and goddamn ready. And that is going to be after I cum all over your ass.” You stared back at him, unable to form words, frightened to do so.
Hugh visibly relaxed and his hands fell. “Now, stop being an argumentative little bitch and go open my gift like a good girl.”
Stiffly, you moved away from him trying to hide your shaking hands and picked up the bag. You were stuck in this house with him; he was far stronger than you and he was right. He did have you wrapped and bent to his whims. You would do well to listen to what he wanted as long as he did not hurt you. And what he said was not wrong… fan fucking videos were popular. You could try to spin this positively for yourself.
You found an under bust corset and high waisted fishnet tights inside the bag. And upon digging deeper, a set of adjustable restraints.
“I’ll leave you to getting dressed. Chop chop,” Hugh told you nonchalantly – his ability to switch moods so quickly was truly unnerving – when he saw you had pulled everything out. “I’m gonna go make myself a drink. Unless you drank all my scotch?” You shook your head and he smirked, patting your cheek. “Perfect. Also, I love that dark berry lipstick.”
He left the room and your stared at the bag for a moment, thinking of what you had gotten yourself into. It took you a few moments, but you forced yourself to begin undressing yourself and getting up into his ‘gifts’. At your desk, you did simple makeup, putting the lipstick shade on he asked for.
You were unsure of what he wanted to do with the restraints, so you sat on the bed, scrolling through your phone uncomfortably in the corset and fishnets. When he appeared again, he had a drink in his hand – of course he had not brought you one or even offered to do so. He swirled the scotch in his glass, taking the sight of you in.
His eyes fell on the restraints and your stomach twisted at his smirk.
“Wrists out, precious,” he ordered you, snapping his fingers before he took a gulp of the scotch. You did as he asked, and he placed the glass down as he approached you. He was still fully clothed, but you knew that would not last long. Your wrists were bound in front of you and they dropped back to your lap. Hugh looked beside himself and you felt even more nervous knowing his mean streak. Why had you given in that easily?
“You’re even cuter like this. Tied up… scared,” Hugh breathed, his fingers running down your clavicle and onto the top of your breasts. You hated he knew you were frightened at the uncertainty of how far he was going to go; you did not like him having that power of you. He inhaled deeply, palming himself through his slacks, his eyes raking over you. His voice rumbled low, “I wanna break you, so, so badly.” He locked eyes with you and his smile was cruel, “And I’m going to, precious.”
He carried your camera over, turning it on, facing away from him. He slowly showed you, the new lingerie, the bondage at your wrists. You avoided looking into the camera, focusing on him instead. He was getting hot, basking in what he saw in front of him.
Moving back to your desk, next to the bed, he adjusted the camera to point mostly at you.
“Ass up,” he ordered.
You hesitated too long, and he rolled his eyes. He advanced on you quickly and tossed you over onto your stomach and landed a hard smack across your ass that was facing directly into the camera with him standing off to the side of the bed. You clenched which was a mistake because when he hit the second time, it hurt far worse. His fingers ghosted along your skin before he swung back, landing another hard hit. You yelped this time, and he gave a low, salacious moan at the sound of you. Another hit and your toes curled.
“Look at that perfect ass rippling under my hand,” he husked, his fingers back again touching you gently. You whimpered at the contact much to his amusement. “Oh, precious, you beg for this with those fuck me eyes. You ride cock so well and I’m gonna make sure you have a good one buried in you tonight.”
You heard his pants unzip, and you knew he was getting undressed.
His fingers were back on you and you clenched when you felt him yank at the fishnets. He tore a hole, exposing your sex and ass to the camera. He hummed in approval, his fingers dipping down from your asshole to your pussy, delving in between your lips. His fingers slipped inside you, one caressing your nub. You tried to lose yourself in the feeling, closing your eyes and riding his hand. Maybe this would make it easier. You had to play this off.
Hugh almost had you come undone on his hand before the camera before his fingers disappeared abruptly.
“Don’t make me toss you again,” Hugh warned. “Show them your pretty face.”
You did as he asked, ass in the air away from the camera now which gave him room to get up behind you and slip inside. You bit your bottom lip feeling him bottom out. Gripping the edge of your bed awkwardly through your tied hands, you bit your lip, grimacing against the pounding he was giving you. Broken moans fell from your lips. If Hugh wanted you to give him some of your tips from this video, you needed to make sure it was a good show.
Hugh’s arm wrapped around you and his fingers rubbed at your mouth, smearing your lipstick. His fingers slipped into your mouth, pulling back as he continued thrusting.
“Dirty, fucking whore,” he growled from behind you as he continued thrusting in, jolting you on the mattress unceremoniously. “Gonna milk the fuck out of me, aren’t you?”
You moaned in response, encouraging him further. His pelvis was bouncing off your ass he was buried so deep. Your tongue swirled around his fingers and he let out a strangled laugh, sounding lascivious. He muttered something incoherent as he quickened his pace.
When Hugh pulled out, his breath short and raspy. You heard his grunts as he worked himself to finish. His cum was warm, spurting on your ass cheeks.
“Oh, fuck yeah. Look at that… covered in my cum,” he rasped as the last of it dripped down. “Exactly how you should be. How I’m gonna make sure you stay.”

My Hero One’s Justice, a review
(Disclaimer: The following is a non-profit unprofessional blog post written by an unprofessional blog poster. All purported facts and statement are little more than the subjective, biased opinion of said blog poster. In other words, don’t take anything I say too seriously. Just the facts 'Cause you're in a Hurry! Publisher: Bandai Namco Developer: Byking Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP): 59.99 USD How much I paid: 59.99 USD Rated: T for Language, Mild Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence How long I played: 6 Hours switching between various gameplay modes such as Story mode, Mission Mode and online mode. Microtransactions: The character of Endeavor being unlocked early for those who pre-ordered the game. Addtional missions for Deku and Endeavor priced at 1.99 USD Each. DRM: None but requires 3rd Party EULA to play. Dual Audio: No. Only the Japanese Audio with subtitles is available. Roster: 20 Characters in the base game. 3 additional characters as DLC. Stages: 11 What I played on: PC Controller Support: Yes. My Rock Candy Xbox 360 controller was compatible with the game. Performance Issues: The game ran smoothly for the most part but, by default, had options such as Anti-aliasing and V-Sync turned off for some reason. With a lack of options to tweek the graphics, I noticed multiple drops in framerate going from 60 to the mid 50’s and at worst, the mid 20’s and 30’s. One instance of the game momentarily freezing before resuming combat. Modes: Story mode, Mission Mode (an RPG like mode where in you level up certain characters and have to replenish health between fights), Arcade Mode (where in you pick a character and fight 6 AI opponents of increasing difficulty), Local Battle and Online Battle. My Personal Biases: I’m… neutral on My Hero Academia. While I think it has a lot of potential, I’m not certain whether it’ll transcend the trappings of the Battle Shounen Genre or simply be content with having death battle after death battle. Hopefully it won’t crap the bed like Bleach did. My Verdict: Rather than a complete game, My Hero One’s Justice feels like a 60 dollar tech demo meant to squeeze money out of early adopters. With an already dumbed down fighting system, the lack of not only single player content and an anemic roster might put off even the most devoted fans. Get it on sale. My Hero One’s Justice, a review
My Hero Academia seems to be the latest darling from Shounen Jump and Viz Media. A hit sales smash, the franchise has already spawn its own anime adaptation, a movie that did pretty well and, at long last, its own video game adaptation. Just as well, the series also has been dubbed by Funimation, can be viewed on Crunchyroll and is running on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block. Looking to be another Naruto, can My Hero Academia succeed in its game, My Hero One’s Justice? Let’s find out! In My Hero One’s Justice, you play as various characters found in My Hero Academia. There, you can relive events from the manga and anime, such as the UA tournament as well as the climatic battles such as All Might’s battle against All For One. For those wondering, the game mostly covers the story from the UA tournament to All Might’s final battle with All For One. Byking, the developer, animated very few of the game’s cutscenes, instead using comic panels with still shots from the anime to show the story scenes. Even the localizer, Funimation, did not dub an English track for the game (while they have done so for other Funimation properties such as Dragonball FighterZ). All these signs point to a game that was rushed out to gage how much BnHA fans would pay. (All the more suspicious as the game, stateside, was released on the same day as Red Dead Redemption 2, guaranteeing lackluster sales. Between this game and Black Clover: Quartet Knights, one has to wonder if Bandai Namco of America is attempting to sabotage its anime adaptations). The lack of presentation is most evident in the game’s story mode. Never mind the fact that the Story Mode isn’t long enough to last the weekend, I’m astonished that a game this bare bones was priced at 60 USD. To stretch out Story mode, the game offers battles on the Heroes perspective, the villains perspective and finally, the UA tournament where the students battle one another. By playing the various modes, you can unlock customization items such as different costumes to put on the characters, banners to put on the game’s profiles and coins, an in-game currency to help you unlock other items in the store. Certain items can only become available by fulfilling secret conditions in Story Mode, such as defeating an opponent with a Plus Ultra. Combat is arranged by having one character face off another and attempt to either lower the other’s health to zero or ring them out (for select stages). Characters have a basic attack button, a grab, a ranged attack, a power attack which allows them to continue fighting even after receiving damage and dash attacks. Dealing or receiving damage will fill up the stamina bar and allow characters to use a Plus Ultra, a cinematic special attack that deals extra damage. You can variate between a Level 1 Plus Ultra, a more powerful Level 2 Plus Ultra or deal maximum damage with a Level 3 Plus Ultra. You have the ability to select ‘sidekicks’, support characters that will assist you in combat when summoned. Different sidekicks have different effects. For example, having Iida as a sidekick will having him call down and deal a throw while calling Uraraka as a side kick will have her touch the opponent and suspend them in mid-air. While the game’s controls are competent, they’re also very shallow offering very little variety amongst its playable characters. Even with certain characters having unique status effects (i.e. Todoroki can momentarily freeze his opponents with his attacks or burn them causing minor damage over time) there’s too little variety and too few characters. It’d be one thing if the game had a create-a-character mode or a deep combat system like in Soul Caliber VI. There’s just too little content here even for a ‘style over substance’ arena fighter like in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games. Add to that the inability to switch between your sidekicks and a limited roster, the game feels more like a tech demo than a full priced game. CAVEAT: Look, I’m not trying to beat a game down here. For something I paid 60 bucks for, I expected more. Even compared to the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games, there’s not only items lacking in the visual department but also the gameplay department as well. With several characters excluded and other characters (such as an alternate mode of Deku and Endeavor for those who didn’t pre-order the game), locked behind a paywall, I can’t really recommend this game at full price. With good games such as Soul Caliber VI, I struggle with the rating because there’s decent content undercut by bad publisher tactics. With mediocre games like My Hero One’s Justice, I can have a clear conscience telling you to wait for a sale. Don’t worry; the inevitable sequel will be worth the money. Verdict: Deep Sale or Rental.

Koei Tecmo: One Last Chance for English Dub
It has been nearly three years since I started writing the Koei Warriors Rant Series in reaction to Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and Samurai Warriors 4 being localised without English voices. Over the years, I have learnt a lot about the localisation and dubbing of animes and video games, along with the sad truth about gaming companies - they don’t listen to their fans when it comes to some particularly important elements.
Over the course of the Koei Warriors Rant Series and later, Dub Logistics, I have changed my focus of my ranting and discussion from Koei Tecmo to other Japanese gaming companies. However, I have noticed recently that despite my efforts, Koei Tecmo have still not dubbed some of their most important games, which I will outline below. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I provide this ultimatum hypothesis:
If Dynasty Warriors 9 and at least one other game (preferably Dissidia Final Fantasy NT) is not dubbed on release, then Koei Tecmo will likely never dub a Koei Warriors game again.
As you may know, Koei Tecmo have disgraced their dub fans time and time again with their lack of English dubbing in localised games, particularly in the Koei Warriors series, which is the main focus of this post. Here are a few examples of the “important” games that have not been dubbed:
Warriors Orochi 3 (despite a two-year gap between releases, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate has not been dubbed as well)
Samurai Warriors 4 (despite the game celebrating the tenth anniversary of the franchise)
A.O.T. Wings of Freedom (despite the original Attack on Titan anime receiving an English dub)
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk (same as above)
Before you start at me for being entitled or something like that, let me tell you now that I’ve heard all the reasons before and I will more or less have the same answer for what you are thinking. So why not just check out the Dub Hater’s Guide to Dual Audio and look up your reason before I have to ban and shame you on my Facebook page?
Here’s my reasoning about why I have picked Warriors All-Stars, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and Dynasty Warriors 9 as the lynchpins for my hypothesis:
Warriors All-Stars
While the undubbed digital exclusive Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers celebrated 15 years of Dynasty Warriors 2′s release in Japan, Warriors All-Stars, also known as Musou ☆ Stars, celebrated Omega Force’s 20th anniversary and by extension, the Dynasty Warriors series.
At the start of the year, I made a post predicting that Warriors All-Stars would be subbed based on the number of franchises that have received dubbed or subbed releases. A few weeks later, I broke down the statistics and discovered that the ratio of dubbed to subbed franchises came very close at 7:6. When Koei Tecmo announced that they would be localising this game to the West, I gave them a challenge to implement dual audio for the characters who came from dubbed franchises. At the same time, I broke down the statistics again and determined a dub/sub character ratio of 15:12. I thought that if only the 15 characters received English voice options (maybe alongside the original characters of the game), then maybe the fans would be a bit happier. I mean, look at the Marvel vs. Capcom series, or maybe even Tekken and Street Fighter. If those games can have characters speaking their own languages (let along dual audio), then I don’t see why the characters in Warriors All-Stars can’t do that as well.
So in short, partial dubbing for this game would be sufficient in my opinion. Subbed characters like Toukiden’s Tokitsugu or Nights of Azure’s Arnice can still have their Japanese voices, while dubbed characters like Zhao Yun or Yukimura Sanada should have an option to switch between their English or Japanese voices.
UPDATE: 7 August 2017 - After checking the newly-created Steam page for Warriors All-Stars, it is now clear to me that Koei Tecmo intends on subbing this game, even with William from Nioh retaining his English voice actor. This is NOT a partially dubbed game, but rather a sub-only game, just as we predicted. As such, Koei Tecmo have failed the challenge that I have given.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
This game is not a Koei Warriors game, but there is a reason why this game is on the list. As you may know, Dissidia Final Fantasy was a PSP game that featured characters from every Final Fantasy game ever made. In 2015, it was announced that Dissidia Final Fantasy would receive a reboot for arcades, with a PS4 release being planned for at least a year after the launch. The game would be developed with the partnership of Team Ninja, known for developing the Dead or Alive games and being affiliated with Koei Tecmo.
The arcade version of the game was released on November 26, 2015. In early June 2017, an Amazon entry for a worldwide PS4 release was leaked, confirming an early 2018 release, similar to Final Fantasy XV. Currently, we have no information regarding its localisation or the languages available, but given that the game was developed with the cooperation of Koei Tecmo, we fear that the game may not be dubbed, thereby alienating and disgracing English dub fans.
As such, we hope that Koei Tecmo stays out of the localisation and release of this game, allowing Square Enix to release the game as they do best. However, being a Final Fantasy game, I can probably reassure you that it is a given fact that Square Enix would be responsible for the release of this game. All we can do now is pray for this game to be dubbed.
UPDATE: 7 July 2017 - It seems that we have confirmation of Dissidia NT being released with dual audio, thanks to a tweet from Square Enix community manager Dan Seto. Basically, regardless of what happens with Warriors All-Stars, everything stands on the localisation of Dynasty Warriors 9.
Dynasty Warriors 9
Koei Tecmo’s habit of not dubbing their localised games led to them forcing a partial dub for Dynasty Warriors 8. Camp voices and narration were omitted, to the outrage of English dub fans, and certain voices (like enemy defeated quotes) from Dynasty Warriors 7 were also reused. Now, don’t get me wrong, but I think a partial dub is better than having no dub at all. However, given their disgrace to their dub fans in recent years (particularly regarding the release of Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires), I think that it is time to say“enough is enough”.
If Dynasty Warriors 9 does not receive a decent English dub, then it is likely that future Koei Warriors games will never be dubbed again. Keep in mind that I’m not talking about other Koei Tecmo games like Dead or Alive and the Atelier series (which frankly, is still sub-par in terms of dubbing all the voiced lines).
With Dynasty Warriors 9 being an entirely new platform with the introduction of the open world system, we are predicting that this game will hopefully be more popular than any other Dynasty Warriors entry, even if the entire series is just repetitive in terms of gameplay. Without English voices, the games wouldn’t be as popular and successful as they are today.
UPDATE: 7 August 2017 - With the confirmation that Warriors All-Stars will be subbed and Dissidia NT will receive dual audio, this is basically a reminder that the fate of English dub in Koei Tecmo games rests with Dynasty Warriors 9. While it is clear that we should not expect English dubbing in most of their games (with the exception of the main Atelier and Dynasty Warriors titles, possibly including Xtreme Legends), we hope that Koei Tecmo will at least wake up and give us an explanation as to why they have not dubbed many of their important games. However, I realise that this “explanation” has been answered by a lot of their fans, some who are pretty adamant on defending their decisions. So while they have lost a lot of my respect for them over the years, I’m basically making Dynasty Warriors 9 my “last chance” for them, since I believe that they are probably saving up for this game.
As of this post, we have received no confirmation or explanation as to why Koei Tecmo is giving up on dubbing their localised games. By extension, I have not seen them implement my suggestion for funding an English dub through a Kickstarter-like campaign. If our hypothesis is proved to be true, then we may still have a chance for future games being dubbed on localisation. Otherwise, we can conclude that Koei Tecmo has stopped caring for their English dub fans. Until then, I will be posting updates regarding this on the NoDubNoBuy page, so stay tuned.
UPDATE: 13 Feburary 2018
Well, Dynasty Warriors 9 has been released with English voices alongside Japanese and Chinese (Mandarin) voices as well. It’s a 2 out of 3 result now, meaning that there is still some hope for Koei Tecmo to continue dubbing their games. However, because the cost to dub the game was too great, I have now decided to end my fight with Koei Tecmo and stop following their pages. In this post, I’ve identified over 15 games that had their potential dubs sacrificed in order to dub this one. Additionally, the recent SAG-AFTRA voice actors’ strike has caused them to change recording studios and fully recast the voice actors. I know the strike wasn’t necessarily Koei Tecmo’s fault, but that just did it for me.
We may have won, but at what cost? With things going the way they are, it’s better to just assume that Koei Tecmo will only dub the Dynasty Warriors games and move on.

Sakura Wars Interview – Revitalizing a Legendary Series and Localizing For The West
July 10, 2020 1:32 PM EST
DualShockers spoke with the Sakura Wars team at Sega, discussing the creation of this modern PS4 entry, the western localization process, and much more.
Sakura Wars. Sakura Taisen. These words bring forth many feelings for quite a number of people both in and outside Japan. The mix of Japanese Adventure games, Dating Sim, Steampunk, Theater, Mecha, Fantasy and much more has changed anyone who has met its path. Whether you’ve actually experienced the franchise yourself, or only gazed at it from afar, it’s one of the most iconic series Japanese pop-culture has to offer. It’s never too late to try out the series either, and the newest entry on PS4, Sakura Wars, demonstrates this perfectly.
Three months after the game’s launch in the west, DualShockers had the opportunity to speak with the Sakura Wars development team at Sega: Localization Producer Andrew Davis, Director of Sakura Wars Tetsuya Ootsubo, and Jacob Nahin, Senior Communications Manager.
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars on PS4 brings in a new cast of characters and takes place over ten years after the latest game. These are all big changes story-wise. Could you tell us more on the choices behind this decision?
Tetsuya Ootsubo, Director of Sakura Wars: A hallmark of the Sakura Wars series is that each new entry shows the passage of time since the previous ones, so one of our ironclad requirements was that any sequel would take place in the same timeline after the events of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love.
Then, once we had settled on the idea of a soft reboot with (nearly) all-new main characters and cast, it made sense to let a bit of time elapse since So Long, My Love, so that players could seamlessly absorb the world without the need for any particular preconceptions or knowledge of the old games. At the same time, by keeping Sumire Kanzaki as a major character, we hoped to delight longtime fans and establish a firm connection to the older titles.
Iyane Agossah: What kind of struggles did you encounter when striving to make this entry fit for both newcomers and longtime fans? We would love to hear one specific anecdote in that regard, such as which new character was the hardest to create in order to please both sides.
Tetsuya Ootsubo: For this game, we enlisted a variety of artists to contribute to the character designs. The challenge was to maintain each creator’s individual quirks while still achieving a unified look for the game world. To that end, we asked animator Masashi Kudo to create the 3D character models based on the 2D concept designs.
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars on PS4, like past games, do not include extensive RPG elements such as money and shops, equipment and skill trees. Did you ever think about adding these kinds of RPG elements in the series?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: The key concept behind the Sakura Wars series is fostering communication between the characters and becoming stronger through the bonds that you forge as a result of that communication. Thus, our intent is for players to focus primarily on how they’re interacting with the other members of the troupe and enjoy the sense of being the captain of a team.
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars on PS4 ended up not receiving an English dub for its localization. Could you tell us more on the reasons behind this decision?
Andrew Davis, Localization Producer: Andrew Davis, Localization Producer: For every title we bring out in the West, we have to assess beforehand what scope will be possible from a business standpoint. Obviously, if it’s a well-established series, we can be more confident that sales will justify a larger localization budget, but in the case of Sakura Wars, we were starting with the barest foothold in the West. Since we had to make sure every dollar counted, we considered our options carefully and determined that the best use of our resources would be to expand our text language options and forgo English voiceover for this game. Because of this, we were able to offer text alongside the English in Spanish, French, and German.
As a series grows its fanbase, the possibilities broaden as well. It took a while for the Yakuza series to really find its audience in the West, but with the success we’ve seen in the past few years, we were able to start producing English VO for recent games from that team, like Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise and Judgment. I would certainly love to see a similar arc for Sakura Wars!
Iyane Agossah: The localization of Sakura Wars focuses on adapting Japanese terms such as honorifics instead of keeping them in the script. Could you tell us more on this decision?
Andrew Davis: That’s a good question! Neither approach is necessarily right or wrong. As a localization team, we always discuss this and other questions of style at the beginning of a project to establish what will fit best with each game. For some franchises like Persona or Yakuza, set among complex power structures in a modern-day Japan, it’s been useful to apply honorifics like -san, -senpai, -chan, or -sensei, as once players get over the hurdle of figuring out how they’re used, they can pick up contextual clues regarding who has authority over whom.
We did consider this for Sakura Wars as well, since of course it’s set in Tokyo. That said, given all the demons, steampunk, airships, and libromancy, we also knew this still have many elements of a period fantasy story. Additionally, the character relationships were pretty straightforward, so it didn’t seem like honorifics would add a lot of information that wasn’t already clear from the context. Ultimately, it seemed to fit the narrative best to localize into naturalistic English and sidestep some of the more explicitly Japanese details. So, for instance, I’m sure some players noticed that in the Japanese VO Sakura often calls Seijuro “Sei nii-san”, signifying that he’s an older male close friend from back when they were little kids. We opted to render this as simply “Seijuro”, the way a native English speaker would approach it.
Iyane Agossah: In Japan, this new entry is titled Shin Sakura Taisen. Could you explain why you decided to go for a simpler title in the West? Hypothetically speaking, if the first game gets localized later on, could it earn a subtitle, such as Sakura Wars: Origins ?
Andrew Davis: Heh, this was actually a very lengthy discussion! In Japan, of course, the original series (and its spinoffs) flew under the Sakura Taisen banner, and since this new game was meant to be a soft reboot to bring in both old and new fans, SEGA of Japan settled on Shin (New) Sakura Taisen to signify a fresh start.
We considered many options, such as “Shin Sakura Wars” (but “Shin” doesn’t signify much if you don’t know Japanese), “New Sakura Wars” (but it’s a bit unwieldy in English), “Sakura Wars: [various subtitles having to do with romance]” (but that doesn’t communicate that this is a new starting point accessible to all players, and as we played more of the final game we grew to understand that the romance aspects were only one part of the experience)…
Ultimately, since the Western footprint for the old series was so thin, we decided to present it with the simple, catchy title Sakura Wars, even as we acknowledge that this could foster confusion when talking about the older series. As for your other question, it’s still too early to say whether we’ll have a chance to revisit any of the older games and give them their first Western releases, but yes! I would imagine we would have to consider adding a subtitle for any official rerelease of the first game, if only to distinguish it from the PS4 game.
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars The Animation aired in Japan and is simulcasted in the West. Can we expect more adaptations related to Sakura Wars on PS4 to be localized? Such as the manga and novel adaptations.
Andrew Davis: I’d certainly love to see more Sakura Wars media make it to the West! However, SEGA of America generally only handles video game publishing, so an interested party would need to reach out to the appropriate licensor in Japan.
Iyane Agossah: As Sega previously mentioned the wish to bring more games to PC, could we expect Sakura Wars to get ported to PC via Steam or Epic Games Store? What about other consoles such as Xbox and Switch?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: We certainly want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the Sakura Wars series. We’re actively researching where the most demand exists for the games and weighing what steps we can take to make other options a reality.
Iyane Agossah: In the past, the very first Sakura Wars game had a spinoff game released on Game Boy. The series also had a puzzle game spinoff series based on Columns. Would you be interested in developing similar spinoff games for this new entry?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: We’re focused right now on getting as many people as possible to play the new Sakura Wars game. However, we would love the chance to work on a spinoff title for people who want to explore the world more and engage with the characters they like.
Iyane Agossah: Seeing Sakura Wars on PS4 has several bonus costumes and soundtrack DLCs, could we expect more DLC in the future? And would it be in the form of additional costumes, or could we get new story content?
Jacob Nahin, Senior Communications Manager: We have a costume / planned release of loungewear planned for release sometime around the fourth of July.
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars as a series has a small presence in the West thanks to the old anime adaptations and the localization of Sakura Wars V on Wii. And now, Sakura Wars on PS4 is a new page of the history of the franchise in the West. Could you share with us your impressions regarding the recent reception of Sakura Wars on PS4, and the series as a whole, in the West?
Andrew Davis: We’re really thrilled by the public and critical reception! It’s great that we can finally make a significant push into the West and let more fans discover the unique, comforting atmosphere of Sakura Wars as a series. People have responded really well to the art style, the personalities of the cast, the musical score, and the quirky blue-skies setting.
In fact, we’ve been analyzing and digesting the critical reviews (as we do regularly for all our titles), and one sentiment that’s come up over and over, even in the otherwise negative reviews, is how utterly charming the whole game is. I collected quote after quote talking about how the game feels “cozy”, it has “tons of heart”, and “it’s hard not to fall in love with everyone you meet”. I think we all need a dose of comfort amidst the pain and chaos of 2020, and I’m planning to report to the dev team that Western players appreciate Sakura Wars being the home of good vibes.
Iyane Agossah: Seeing Sakura Wars on PS4 was localized only a few months after its Japanese release, can we expect possible future entries to be localized as swiftly?
Andrew Davis: While it can be a challenge sometimes to start on localization while the game is still in development and parts of the script are in flux, we also know it’s friendlier to fans (and often better for the game’s success!) when we’re able to bring out a game in the West as close as possible to the Japanese release date. Scheduling for any future titles will depend on the individual circumstances, especially given the disruptions hitting many sectors of the game industry worldwide, but we’d certainly like to get our localized editions out as quickly as we can!
Iyane Agossah: The majority of the games in the series are still Japan-exclusive. Could they be localized in some way, in order to make the series better known in the West?
Andrew Davis: The old games are beloved classics in Japan, and if possible, we’d love the chance to revisit them and allow Western fans a chance to discover what made them special. We don’t have any specific plans at the moment, but fingers crossed!
Iyane Agossah: Sakura Wars as a series has few but dedicated fans in the West, and is particularly popular in Asian countries such as South Korean and China. Both countries had their own mobile Sakura Wars games as well. However, certain themes depicted in the Sakura Wars series, such as the Taisho Era and the military themes, can be controversial in the West, South Korea and China. Do you have some comments to share in that regard?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: What makes the world of Sakura Wars so special is the blend of steampunk aesthetic with certain aspects of the real-life Taisho Era of Japan, a time when the traditional culture of Japan was starting to mix with cultural influences imported from the West. We would never condone anything that would harm someone in the enjoyment of this milieu, and during development, we took extra caution to consult with people of all the regions we planned to release the game in, in an effort to avoid ethical missteps.
Iyane Agossah: Sales-wise, did Sakura Wars on PS4 meet your expectations in Japan? In Asia? In the West?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: We first would like to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who has bought the game. We’re continuing to coordinate with teams in each of our sales regions to work on expanding the user base.
Iyane Agossah: Many fans who played Sakura Wars on PS4 mentioned they’d like the game to be fully voiced. Have you considered releasing an enhanced version of the game or DLC adding full voice acting?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: We’ve heard similar requests on our end as well. Currently we don’t have any specific plans for this kind of addition, but we are giving these ideas some consideration.
Iyane Agossah: While Sakura Wars on PS4 marks a new beginning with a new cast of characters, many fans would like to see the old cast again. Did you consider the option to bring back the old cast in some way? Like a non-canon spinoff, where the old and new cast would crossover?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: Indeed, the old characters still exist in the world of PS4 Sakura Wars, and not just Sumire Kanzaki. We understand that longtime fans have a great deal of attachment to the old cast, and we would very much like to bring them back for all the fans in some form or another.
Iyane Agossah: How would you feel about featuring Sakura Wars in console crossover titles, such as a console entry in the Super Robot Wars series?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: We do love to see Sakura Wars characters make appearances in crossover titles. Here in Japan, they have turned up in a number of collaborations already, and if we have the opportunity in the future, we would be thrilled to include them in additional tie-in/crossover games.
Iyane Agossah: Do you have a message you’d like to share with the Western fans of the Sakura Wars franchise?
Tetsuya Ootsubo: Up until now, the Sakura Wars series hasn’t had much of an active presence in the West. And yet, despite that, there are still dedicated fans all across the globe, which is why we’re thrilled that we could deliver a localized version of the newest game to these fans. This game is a proper sequel set in the same chronology as the previous games, but even if it’s your first exposure to the series, we think you’ll have a really fun time, especially if you have any interest in Japanese anime culture, or even if you merely had your curiosity piqued by the unique, exciting period setting of Taisho-era Japan.
Sakura Wars is currently available on PS4. You can read our thoughts on the game through our review and our latest coverage. I would like to thank once again Tetsuya Ootsubo, Jacob Nahin, and Andrew Davis for answering our questions, along with Jordan and all the Sega PR team.

Gigabyte's new Brix fanless computer is all heatsink
I really like heatsinks. It’s one of those things that makes the physics of an item very apparent, rather than buried underneath layers of indirection. Gigabyte’s brand new Brix GB-EKi3A-7100 barebones Computer, noticed with the aid of Liliputing, is largely a heatsink with a laptop interior it. The fanless system runs a Kaby Lake Core i3-7100U PC chip and has the guide for as much as 32GB of RAM and M.2 SSD garage. There is a nice amount of connectivity as well, along with Ethernet, Bluetooth, HDMI, and USB-C.
The machine is in reality designed for enterprise and commercial applications — There’s even a Gigabyte Computer Brix RS-232 serial port for hooking up with microcontrollers. However, it’d also make an exceptional home theater Computer, thanks to the fanless design.
There is no phrase yet in the rate, and you may carry your own garage and RAM to make this operational.
The Evolution of Generation – The Records of Computers
At the same time as Computers at the moment are an critical a part of the lives of human beings, there was a time wherein Computers did not exist. Knowing the History of Computers and how much development has been made will let you apprehend simply how complex and innovative the advent of Computers certainly is.
Unlike most devices, the computer is one of the few inventions that doesn’t have one precise inventor. All through the development of the laptop, many human beings have added their creations to the listing required to make a PC paintings. Some of the inventions had been exclusive sorts of Computer systems, and Some of them have been components required to allow Computer systems to be evolved similarly.
The start
Perhaps the maximum tremendous date inside the Records of Computers is the 12 months 1936. It turned into in this year that the primary “laptop” became developed. It was created by means of Konrad Zuse and dubbed the Z1 laptop. This pic stands as the first because it changed into the first device to be fully programmable. There were gadgets prior to this, But none had the computing energy that sets it aside from other electronics.
It wasn’t till 1942 that any business noticed earnings and possibility in Computers. This primary organisation changed into referred to as ABC Computers, owned and operated by means of John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry. Two years later, the Harvard Mark I laptop became advanced, furthering the technological know-how of computing.
Over the direction of the next few years, investors all over the global started out to look greater into the examine of Computer systems, and the way to improve upon them. Those subsequent ten years say the advent of the transistor, which would grow to be a critical a part of the inner workings of the laptop, the ENIAC 1 laptop, as well as many other sorts of systems. The ENIAC 1 is Possibly one of the most thrilling, as it required 20,000 vacuum tubes to operate. It changed into a massive machine, and started out the revolution to construct smaller and faster Computer systems.
The age of Computers changed into forever altered by the creation of Global business Machines, or IBM, into the computing industry in 1953. This enterprise, over the direction of PC Records, has been a primary participant in the improvement of recent systems and servers for public and personal use. This creation introduced approximately the primary actual signs of competition inside computing Records, which helped to spur quicker and higher development of Computers. Their first contribution was the IBM 701 EDPM PC.
A Programming Language Evolves
A year later, the first a hit excessive level programming language turned into created. This changed into a programming language no longer written in ‘assembly’ or binary, which might be taken into consideration very low degree languages. FORTRAN become written in order that greater humans should start to software Computers effortlessly.
The year 1955, the Bank of America, coupled with Stanford Studies Institute and General Electric, noticed the introduction of the primary Computers for use in banks. The MICR, or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, coupled with the real computer, the ERMA, became a leap forward for the banking enterprise. It wasn’t until 1959 that the pair of structures had been positioned into use in actual banks.
Throughout 1958, one of the maximum essential breakthroughs in computer Records occurred, the creation of the incorporated circuit. This device, additionally known as the chip, is one of the base requirements for contemporary laptop structures. On each motherboard and card within a computer gadget, are many chips that include records on what the boards and playing cards do. Without those chips, the structures as we realize them nowadays cannot feature.
Gaming, Mice, & the Internet
For lots laptop users now, video games are a critical part of the computing revel in. 1962 noticed the advent of the primary computer game, which was created via Steve Russel and MIT, which was dubbed Spacewar.
The mouse, one of the maximum primary additives of contemporary Computer systems, was created in 1964 via Douglass Engelbart. It received its call from the “tail” main out of the device.
one of the most vital elements of Computers these days changed into invented in 1969. ARPA net turned into the original Internet, which furnished the muse for the Internet that we understand these days. This development could bring about the evolution of expertise and enterprise throughout the entire planet.
It wasn’t till 1970 that Intel entered the scene with the primary dynamic RAM chip, which resulted in an explosion of PC science innovation.
at the heels of the RAM chip was the first microprocessor, which became additionally designed by Intel. these Two components, in addition to the chip, advanced in 1958, would number among the Core components of present day Computer systems.
A yr later, the floppy disk was created, gaining its call from the flexibility of the storage unit. This become step one in allowing most of the people to switch bits of facts among unconnected Computers.
the primary networking card turned into created in 1973, permitting information switch between connected Computers. That is similar to the Net, However, allows for the Computer systems, to connect Without use of the Internet.
Family Computer’s Emerge
The next three years had been very vital for Computers. This is while agencies began to broaden structures for the common patron. The Scelbi, Mark-eight Altair, IBM 5100, Apple I and II, TRS-80, and the Commodore Puppy Computers had been the forerunners on this vicinity. At the same time as high-priced, those machines started the fashion for Computers inside common households.
one of the maximum predominant breakthroughs in PC software program took place in 1978 with the discharge of the VisiCalc Spreadsheet application. All improvement prices have been paid for inside a Two week time period, which makes this one of the maximum successful programs in computer History.
1979 turned into Possibly one of the maximum crucial years for the home computer consumer. This is the 12 months that WordStar, the first phrase processing application, was launched to the general public for sale. This notably altered the usefulness of Computers for the everyday consumer.
The IBM home laptop fast helped revolutionize the patron market in 1981, because it becomes low-cost for home proprietors and widespread purchasers. 1981 also saw the mega-large Microsoft input the scene with the MS-DOS running system. This running gadget totally changed computing all the time, as it becomes clear sufficient for all and sundry to learn.
The opposition Starts: Apple vs. Microsoft
Computers noticed but every other critical trade For the duration of the year of 1983. The Apple Lisa PC turned into the primary with a graphical user interface or a GUI. maximum current packages incorporate a GUI, which lets in them to be smooth to apply and fascinating for the eyes. This marked The start of the out courting of most textual content based totally simplest packages.
Past this point in computer Records, many adjustments and changes have occurred, from the Apple-Microsoft wars, to the developing of microcomputers and a diffusion of computer breakthroughs that have become an usual part of our everyday lives. Without the preliminary first steps of laptop History, none of this will were possible.
