Do you really think this isn't going to be the final arc? I don't know how much table turning there is gonna be before deku talks no jutsus shigaraki into helping him beat up afo, I could see seeing the mina and kiri fights but I don't know if it's gonna be a huge oh no the villains are gonna win swing since we just got one from the kurogiri twice dump and are currently in the middle of the crackback from the heroes arriving here.

Thinking about it, yeah I am. As for why: well, it’s a few things.(Warning, this gets quite a bit ranty.)

Power-sclaing wise, it’s just a terrible final arc because the heroes are so much stronger than their opponents that there’s been no stakes since the villains were ambushed. Just jumping off what you say here; the closest thing we’ve had to a “the villains might win” swing was Kugoriri & Toga’s parade combo, which lasted 2 minutes and then got beat by one hero, because duh, that’s how just outmatched the villains have been this whole arc.

And on a related note, Deku or Tomura hardly need each others help to beat up AFO; either could 1v1 him and smash his face into the pavement easy. What does a 2v1 with the strongest people in the world on the same side even look like? I actually think AFO may not even leave the mountains if this is the final arc; because if his defeat isn’t in service of Tomura surpassing him, then getting wrecked for good by Tokoyami, Jirou, Shinsou, and everyone else he called an extra is probably the more fitting end for him.

So from a Shonen spectacle angle, this arc’s doing terribly as a finale because victory was tension-lessly assured from minute one.

But there’s also the emotional and narrative angles; how many dangling plot elements are there and how ready are the addressed plot threads to be properly resolved. And the answers to those are “more than there probably should be” and “not very, unless things suddenly become very rushed”.

But just focusing on what’s most pressing to me (this is already long); a lot of the inciting issues in hero society are not set to be addressed by the next generation, most kids aren’t even thinking about that while staring their foil villains in the face, any other attempts at ‘talk no justu’-esque communication have been falling though entirely, and the kids just don’t look ready to resolve they or their foils’ arcs. The only exception to any of that is Shoji, who came up with a total non-solution to prejudice that I feel would be a great start to an arc foiling Spinner, but a terrible finish. If that’s the precedent set for how these issues are getting resolved, then it’s shame how doomed class 1A feels to repeat their predecessors’ failures.

Overall, the arc feels to me like the kids are still learning. Deku, Shoto, & Uraraka are still learning Tomura, Dabi, & Toga’s deals; which makes sense when they only just realized to ask last arc. I really feel they’re all being set up more to finally get a clue then to resolve things here and now, as they're lacking the knowledge, tools, and development for that. And I’ll be honest; supposing for a moment Hori decided to end the war at chapter 400, I do not think 18 chapters would be enough time for the important kids' to gain that development even if it was entirely dedicated to them. (Not without rushing things so, as I said I was worried about, hero society goes unaddressed and loops back to where we are now in a few decades). But it would be enough time to get everyone going in the right direction.

A (mostly) Quick and Dirty Way to Edit Hairs to Work for Khajiit

I edited a lot of hairs for Project ja-Kha’jay (namely some lovely KS Hairdos) for Khajiit use, and I’ll try to show ya how. This is not the easiest way, and probably isn’t the best way, but it’s the way I do it.

Things you’ll need:

Outfit Studio

BSA Extractor/Cathedral Assets Optimizer

Creation Kit

One thing to note: I use Mod Organizer 2 and run things through it, so this tutorial is based on my experience with it. I don’t know how it works for Vortex.

Another thing to note: this will NOT work for HDT hairs. That would require an extra step of weighting the hair to work for HDT and idk how to do that.

Prep Work

1a. Extract the Khajiit headmesh(es) from Skyrim - Meshes 0.bsa using BSA Extractor or CAO into a convenient folder (for BSA Extractor, this is just drag, drop, search. You want ‘femaleheadkhajiit.nif’ and/or ‘maleheadkhajiit.nif’. Whichever gender you want to fit your hair to.

1b. If you want to use a modded Khajiit head mesh (like the Serval Khajiit), you can open the mod file (in MO2, you right-click and hit ‘Open in Explorer’. You can then browse through the meshes to find the headmesh you need.)

1c. If you want to specifically work with a character you made with RaceMenu, you can export their head (under the ‘Sculpt’ tab), find their headmesh under wherever you SKSE files export to, and use that instead.

2. Open Outfit Studio. Drag and drop your kitty head. (You might have to set up Outfit Studio to use your textures.)

3. Open up your hair mod and find the hair mesh, the hair .tri, and the matching hairline mesh (and any other accessories that go with it. I recommend checking to see what parts belong to it use SSE Edit or Creation Kit, if you’re not sure.) Drag and drop both meshes into OS. Copy the .tri file to somewhere you can easily find it.

Now comes the real work.

The Real Work

Important to note! Keep both the hair and hairline meshes highlighted in the right pane window while you’re doing big adjustments. You want to edit both at the same time for the most part, just to make things easier. Like so:

Now it’s less about steps, and more about trying things out to see what works best. I personally like to start by using the ‘Scale’ tool (found by right-clicking your highlighted mesh in the right side pane) as well as the 'Transform’ tool (the one on the top left, looks like a clock.)

Typically, scaling up little by little until less things are clipping through the head. Also the transform tool to scootch the hair around (usually it needs to go a bit forward.) You can also uncheck the ‘Uniform’ box to individually size up on the X,Y, or Z axis.

For small edits, you can also use the Mask, Move, Inflate, and Deflate tools. I recommend using them for stuff like small gaps or editing . At this point, you can probably just edit the hair mesh alone.

The Pencil tool is handy, it will show you where the vertices are.

Just play around until you get a look you’re happy with (be sure to save before any radical changes, just in case.)

Once you get it tweaked to how you want, select the hair mesh in the right pane and right click it. Hit ‘Export -> To NIF’ and give it a name and save it in a memorable place. Do the same for the hairline mesh.

Making a plugin

Make a new folder, name it whatever you want. Put it wherever is easily accessible (I usually just use the desktop).

In that folder, make 2 new folders: ‘textures’ and ‘meshes’.

Meshes folder:

Make a new folder. Name it something easy for you to find and remember (starting with 000 or an underscore will keep it near the top.) Put your hair and hairline mesh in it. Also put your .tri file in here.

Textures folder:

This is optional if you plan on keeping the hair mod you took the meshes from in your load order, as your hair will keep using the textures provided by it.

If you really want it separate, you need to open up the original hair mod and find the folder path that your hair’s textures are in.

In *your* textures folder, you need to recreate the exact folder path and copy and paste the textures into it. (Some alternatives are opening the mesh with NifSkope and changing the paths to match yours, or creating a Texture Set and applying it to your meshes in the CK. I won’t be going over how to do either of those, but they’re options.)

Now you have to make a mod manually- personally I just use MO2′s method where I right-click the left pane and hit ‘All Mods -> Create Empty Mod Above’ then name it, open it with Explorer, and copy paste my textures and meshes folder into it. Then activate it.

You can instead zip your mod folder and install it from an archive (I use 7zip, it’s free.)

Now it’s time to open Creation Kit (if you haven’t got it yet, I cannot recommend installing Nukem’s Creation Kit Fixes enough.)

This part of the tutorial assumes some light  familiarity with the Creation Kit.

1. Load Skyrim.esm and Update.esm.

2. Find a Khajiit hair for the gender you are a making a hair for.

Best way to find them is:

a. In the Object Window, leftmost pane, expand Character and click HeadPart.

b. with HeadPart selected, search ‘khajiit’. Hairs/hairlines are a little ways down.

3. if you have a hairline, start with it: Open either a male or female hairline (ex. HairlineKhajiitFemale01), any of them for the gender you’re working with.

4. Time to change a few things:

ID: rename the hairline to something you’ll remember

Model: hit Edit->Edit and direct it to your hairline mesh (in the folder you set up in the last step.)

TRI: if you have one, sometimes it’s automatically detected. If not, once again go to Edit and direct it to the .tri file you copied earlier.

5. Hit OK and ‘Yes’ to creating a new form.

6. For the hair: open a hair part (ex. HairKhajiitFemale01) that matches the gender you’re working on.

7. Repeat step 4.

8. Time to set up the Extra Parts.

Highlight and delete the hairline in the Extra Parts box.

Right-click and hit ‘New’. Search for the  hairline you just created.

Should look something like this:

(I forgot to add a .tri file here, but it’s usually not too essential- mostly just allows you to edit the hair scuplt in RaceMenu.)

At this stage, if you want some of the Khajiit earrings you can also add them in Extra Parts box.

Once again, hit OK and ‘Yes’ to creating a new form. Save and name your mod, load it up and try it out.

Some caveats:

1. Weird shadows on hairs. I don’t know what causes this, you can typically see it as soon as you open the mesh in OS. I don’t know how to fix this, unfortunately. Sometimes they’ll show in-game, sometimes they won’t.

2. You don’t always need the hairline. For hairstyles with shaved-hair hairlines, just dont’ use the hairline (it doesn’t make much sense on a Khajiit)

3. Hair has accessories: In the CK, typically these are treated like Hairlines, You can use a hairline part to start with and can be added to the hair in CK in the Extra Parts box.

4. Hair causes CTD (sometimes on loading)- Open in CK and delete the .tri files from both the hair and the hairline, see if that fixes it.

We need to talk about All Might.

After Chapter 309, everyone seems to be screaming DEATH FLAG (more than normal), and I wouldn’t ordinarily agree given the fakeouts we’ve seen before. However, AM isn’t given much to do yet (except look cute in his sunnies) and doesn’t seem to be in a good position to grow as a person. It makes me sad bc there is a lot of potential with AM, and it all seems pushed aside in favor of Endeavor’s narrative, which I don’t love. As a ::cough cough:: older BnHA fan in a workaholic profession, I want to see the larger hero society narrative use AM to ask if you can be a hero (and therefore of any value to society) when you’re old and/or have less strength/power/endurance than you used to have. What happens when you WERE an equal, and then you lose a step along the way (note there may be a parallel to Bakugo’s/Aizawa’s post-war condition on this theme)? Or, given the focus on teenagers and the role of the “new generation” in rebuilding society, let’s ask whether AM made the right choice in sticking with his teenage ideals through adulthood. Was he right to give up EVERYTHING for his dream, only to crash land into a nightmare? I mean, the dude destroyed himself for years and then watched his life’s work crumble in a matter of weeks. Can he pick himself up, powerless, and still find a new way to help? In BHNA, all of the top heroes have major flaws (a meta for another time!) and a chance at redemption, so I really want to see AM do the same thing.

AM starts the story as the singular, self-proclaimed Symbol of Peace, which was a mission he gave himself as a naive, idealistic middle school student(!!!) Through Nana Shimura, AM received the power to make his teenage ambition a reality and then ... kept at it for 40 years. Alone. Without critical reflection. In Vigilantes, we learn the cost of this relentless pursuit is that AM has no real friends and no social life. Even among other top heroes, he’s not an approachable peer, but the hired gun brought in to clean up the biggest, baddest disasters before he’s immediately called out to the next one. To the extent he socializes after a big win, it’s to talk to the media and sign autographs, not debrief or bond with fellow heroes. The guy has charisma and can do stage banter all day, but he has no idea how to have an actual functioning relationship with colleagues. At the beginning of BNHA, it’s been 20ish years since AM spoke to Torino, 10 years since he spoke to Endeavor, and 5 years since Nighteye. He does keep in touch with Tsukauchi, but he’s more like a “work husband” than a best friend.

When Deku meets him, AM is holding it together on the surface, but is really in mental distress. AM is the first hero in the story whose facade is ripped away (initially to us readers, then eventually to everyone in universe). Unable to do the hero work that defines him for more than 3 hours a day, he seems to spend the rest of his pre-UA time wandering around aimlessly. He’s lost his sense of purpose, has nobody to confide in (he may not “lie” but he definitely doesn’t tell anyone complete truths), and he is indifferent to his own survival. He is certain Nighteye’s prediction is coming true, and he’s looking for a successor because he HAS to before time runs out, not because he wants to. If he can pass on OFA then he can die, ideally in a blaze of glory. And, if not for Deku, he would have let the slime villain kill Bakugo and told himself he can’t save everyone. In Deku he sees his younger self’s ideals and decided his new purpose is to build the next Symbol of Peace, not just do a handoff. With a true successor secured, he can really go for one last big heroic act.

Except it doesn’t work out as planned. Deku — lonely and idealistic himself — desperately needs AM around for approval. And AM, with extra time on his hands, seems to enjoy being needed by his boy, like a parent with a toddler. As hard as they both aim to create the next AM, Deku is his own person (as all children are), which makes the process trickier than either one anticipated. At first AM tries imitating Torino and trains Deku through physical activity and battle, the same way Torino punched a grieving, teenage AM around. AM encourages Deku to sacrifice himself, just because AM also did it for 40 years. But these tactics just don’t work for Deku. AM gets (rightly) scolded by Recovery Girl. Then AM sends Deku to Torino, who teaches Deku Full Cowling and scolds AM for not telling Deku the truth about AFO — and for this one time, Torino is right. Slowly, fuller truths start coming out from AM, and in return Deku learns to protect himself and ask his mentor questions rather than merely imitate. Both begin to grow and change for the better.

After Kamino, Inko uses her leverage to convince AM to stop the blaze of glory nonsense. He wants to be her successor as parent to Deku, and she’s not going to allow it if AM is going to drive her son towards needless self-sacrifice. This seems to take root, and we later see AM openly defy Nighteye’s prediction because he wants to be with Deku. He starts jogging! We even see him confide in Aizawa he has decided to live. Even if he’s not always sure how to give his new life purpose, and he bristles at needing to be protected, he’s accepting his post-pro existence. Progress!

Finally, AM comes into his own as a teacher and member of the old guard with experience to share. He may be using “Teaching for Dummies” as a shortcut, but he’s recognizing his own failings and trying to improve. He tells Deku to quit imitating him, full stop, finally giving Deku permission to become his own hero with his own style. AM takes initiative to teach Deku Air Force, and really guides Deku through the use of the power until Deku becomes proficient. AM also gets actively involved in coaching other students (not as much as he should, but it’s something). AM will similarly counsel Endeavor later, saying Endeavor has to walk his own path and answer for himself why he has his power. AM is building new relationships, new skills, and forming an identity outside of punching things!

Of course, we still see signs AM is a work in progress. Staying up too late at night to do research on prior OFA users for Deku. Diving to protect a woman from a falling streetlight (saved only by a fast-acting Bakugo). At the same time, we see that Deku is coming into his own with his 1A friends. And Deku is no longer looking back to AM for approval (both literally when jumping away and figuratively as part of Deku’s decision-making processes). AM seems both proud and sad, as is natural when a parental figure watches their child become independent.

Fast forward to 309, and a powerless AM leaves all the growth behind to help Deku, Endeavor, Jeanist, and Hawks find the LOV. On the good side, AM isn’t keeping secrets anymore (arguably, telling Jeanist and Hawks about OFA should have involved a consultation with Deku, but okay). Moreover, AM isn’t useless in this fight; he can provide financing, emotional support, police connections, UA connections, and Oracle/guy-in-a-chair backup to the active heroes. But what will this change tell us about AM? Can he ever really get comfortable with this role or is he there just out of duty? Can he actually deliver some hard truths to Deku about AM’s own experience if/when Deku stretches himself too thin? Is this new role respected by the other heroes? If not, will he be tempted to return to battle to be “valuable”? To give his life for Deku so he can claim one last “win” by saving? Or give his life for Deku because he actually loves him and has something personal to fight for? All of these questions bear on where an older, powerless person — that is, an outcast — fits into society and how a lifelong loner can find their role within a group. (Boy, this sounds like a familiar BnHA theme!)

I feel like, if AM dies just to become a vestige, all of these deeper questions are unexplored and we’re just copying Star Wars plot points without any added meaning. I’m not satisfied AT ALL with AM living rent free in Deku’s head and robbing others of his wisdom/experience (which he was just starting to share!!!). Likewise, if AM dies as a plot device so Deku can stand as a hero on his own, or tap into his inner rage or whatever, well, that’s also copied from Star Wars — and it seems to counter what we’re starting to see with Deku calling his own shots and AM supporting. Unlike Torino and AM, who don’t talk for years, I want to see Deku be his own hero AND have his mentor in his life. I want BnHA to keep resisting the absent adult trope, because it’s entirely possible (and realistic!) for grownups to be their own people while having mentors and parental figures in their life. It’s an adjustment for a parental figure to watch their teen become an adult, but it doesn’t mean the parental figure just ghosts and ceases to matter as an influence.

Similarly, if AM turns to sacrifice, it will turn AM’s life story into a cautionary tale with no growth. How can a story about saving people who have done bad things have a good guy succumb to his worst instinct, with nobody to save him? How can AM’s life lesson be “make friends now and learn to give and take in a relationship, otherwise you’ll get too old and it’ll be too late and when you aren’t powerful you’ll have to take a hit to have value”? Even if his sacrifice ultimately allows Deku to win against AFO it feels hollow against the larger narrative. Unlike pre-war Bakugo, we already know AM will self-destruct for others. AM wanting to take on the world alone and die “heroically” is the PROBLEM that drives his pre-Kamino failures, not the solution. And if AM can’t escape this and become comfortable in society post-retirement, who can???

I’m worried we are going to see AM’s growth cut short while Endeavor, Hawks, and the LOV get a shot at redemption, which feels problematic. Of course life isn’t fair, and not everyone gets to have a second act, but it feels wrong for the BNHA narrative to punish someone who is trying (and who wants to help Deku save the villains). Maybe you can argue it’s AM’s fault that the hero society became corrupt, so it’s a cosmic balance for him to die watching it fall. Or maybe the other heroes will realize AM needs their help too (not just Deku) and keep him safe. (Maybe Endeavor will save him in a parallel to Bakugo and Deku.) Much is TBD, but chapters 306-309 make me worry.

sure, the doctor who does the work for them is a little shady, but it can't be helped. quirk genetic experiments were recently made illegal in a case spearheaded by nezu himself. nezu doesn't exactly agree with a total ban and is encouraging regulation in place of a blanket stop, but its been years and the laws are going nowhere fast

maybe the man has some shady connections to some shady people all too eager to replace all might? oh well, it can be managed

so

a pregnant woman called Inko Midoriya shows up at a hospital, dead on arrival, with the baby inside her still clinging to life?

well.

they extract the child, pronounce the mother dead and whisk the child away into 'foster care', or the arms of the good doctor

when he's revealed to be quirkless? at first the commission is dubious but the doctor assures them this is perfect. he doesn't have to base the quirk off anything, it can be built from the ground up, as exactly the quirk the commission wants

izuku is born 3 months premature to a dead mother and one month later has a strong enough combination of quirks to take down all might when he grows up.

there is a bit of a catch, though. due to the whole 3 months early and dead mother thing, his constitution isn't the greatest, leaving him pretty sickly. the doctor assures him he'll be much better when he grows up (he’s lying). still - it’s a long while until their creation will be an adult. they could let him grow up normally in a nice house, only to pounce on him when he's grown a little stronger

but a chance of letting their perfect child slip away? nope. they resolve to train him as soon as he can crawl.

A few variations of this AU bc I had loads of quirk ideas before I settled on one - Knock Off For All: Izuku has a quirk as similar to OFA as was possible to create without being able to stockpile, complete with the achy breaky bones (no extra quirks) - Power Set: Izuku has a set of the most useful quirks the doctor could think of, ala USJ nomu (Shock nullification, Regeneration, Super Strength, etc) - Midorigiri: Izuku has a powerful combination quirk like a certain cloud mist dude. Probably either a shock absorption + redirection quirk / all 4 elemental types / guardian angel: wings, flight, hard light construct, healing - All for Naught: Izuku has a knock off of All for One that lets him perma copy 5 quirks at a time

So, Guardian Angel is the quirk I’m going with, mostly for the Hawks parallels. They end up basically being raised with each other, hawks jokingly calling Izuku his little brother. He almost cries when Izuku asks what that is.

Izuku’s quirk allows him to fly with a set of wings (he has hollow bones to facilitate this), can create hard light constructs; the more complicated the shape the harder it is and was originally classified as a forcefield quirk before Izuku got creative with it, and gives him the ability to heal.

All abilities excluding flight are based on the amount of ambient light. The brighter it is, the stronger his constructs and the better he can heal. His blood glows. Make of that what you will.

The problem being that while his quirk/s are strong, Izuku himself is very weak. He has chronic anaemia, difficulty putting on weight, a heart murmur, weak lungs, etc. the HA don’t care at all and make him train until he can’t walk.

From birth till 7 Izuku has no contact with people outside the facility, whereupon he is promptly dumped into a public school for 5 days a week. The education he gets there isn’t important, he’ll learn what he needs at the facility. What they do deem as important is A, creating a paper trail for the kid and B, socializing him somewhat.

People flock to him for his quirk, cementing what they always told him. “All of your worth is in your quirk. You have an obligation to save others.”

Plus, they’ve told him he wasn’t born like everyone else, he was created. Different, artificial, inhuman, those where all words used to describe him at the facility. He finds it difficult to make friends.

He forms a strange almost friendship with Bakugo as the only other kid with a super powerful quirk in the school, even if it’s more of a support quirk than anything else. Izuku silently heals Bakugo when he gets into fights, Bakugo snarls at anyone who makes Izuku too uncomfortable. It’s odd, but it works.

Izuku’s personality is similar to canon in the fact he's the same person but it’s a little jumbled.

He’s even less trusting of adults than canon which is saying something, but he doesn’t have canons blatant disregard for authority. If he breaks a rule he makes sure he doesn’t get caught because the punishments he’s had before left scars.

His anger runs a little closer to the surface but he feels like a bad person for feeling any emotion that isn’t positive so he crushes it down under forced optimism. Izuku shows his anger rarely and when he does, it’s quiet and vicious.

If an authority figure tells him to do something, he does it. It takes a while for Aizawa to break the kid’s conditioned need to respond automatically to any request from a ‘Handler’. Aizawa is very afraid of where it came from, but Nezu can’t find anything about this kid other than the record of his birth and his school enrolments.

Izuku thinks he’s less valuable than others which is pretty canon, at least at the start, but here it’s because he’s ‘not as good/natural/ something’ as a ‘normal’ human. Most of the UA teacher see it, but they have no idea why he thinks he’s lesser so their mixed attempts at questioning/comfort fall pretty flat. Izuku is convinced they would abandon him if they knew.

So, Izuku has a complicated relationship with the concept of All Might.

To start off with, even with everything that happened, Izuku adores heroes right down to his very core. Hawks counts the HA lucky that they didn’t accidentally turn Izuku into a villain. Izuku’s favourite hero is All Might, but -

For a start, he was told he was made to be better than All Might. The part of the HA that created him isn’t fond of the no. 1 as someone they can’t at all control, Izuku has basically been taught that All Might is lying to the world with the way he presents himself and that he’s secretly a terrible person and would hate him for both being artificial and for being made to be better than him

Ergo, Izuku is shit scared of him.

Izuku wants to go to UA because Katsuki is going to UA and Katsuki is the only person other than Hawks he’s ever had a somewhat close relationship with. The HA thinks: eh, fuck it, it’ll be a nice fuck you to All Might anyway.

Then All Might is announced as a teacher after Izuku has been accepted and all hell breaks loose.

A brief set of things that happen:

Dadmight and Dadzawa to the extreme, all of 1A basically adopts Izuku instantly (after they get over the fear of his crazy quirk lmao). All Might and Eraserhead are Izuku’s favourite heroes, other than Hawks, so he's both terrified and in awe of them at all times. He finds himself both loving the familial affection he was denied as a child and being terrified they’d think he was a monster when they learnt he was made to overtake All Might, and isn’t a ‘real person’.

Izuku gets OFA, eventually. It ends up improving his physical health which is neat, along with its extra quirks and strengthening of his own.

Todoroki hates Izuku a little from the beginning, although he’d never admit it. Izuku’s quirk is incredibly powerful and he didn’t have to undergo Todoroki’s childhood torment (Which is Incorrect, but he doesn’t exactly know that, does he) When Todoroki finds out (sports festival, Izuku has a pretty emotional response to his little angst time and lets a few things slip) he becomes fiercely protective of him.

Izuku and Bakugo develop an actual friendship and it’s an adventure

Izuku gets kidnapped along with Bakugo at the training camp, during which the doctor, AFO or Shigiraki reveal he was created to beat All Might, just like the Nomu. Izuku wants to run away out of fear/shame, but Bakugo drags him along with the rescue attempt. Izuku, too scared to go back to the HA or UA, wants nothing more than to vanish off the face of the earth. When Aizawa and All Might visit him and Bakugo at the hospital, Izuku breaks down crying and cowers in fear, convinced his teachers are either going to hurt or kill him. Everyone involved is horrified. They try to calm him down but just seeing them is scaring the shit out of Izuku so they end up getting chased out by Bakugo who clumsily comforts him.

Kirishima's peaceful life on his volcanic island is put to an end when the dormant Mount Bakugou comes back to life, each eruption getting closer to the village and the crops. As panic starts to spread, people remember the old god of the volcano and the ancient tradition to offer him a sacrifice.

Kirishima doesn't buy any of this, but the older villagers seem serious. So before they kill someone in the name of a god that might not even exist, he decides to climb the volcano himself, hoping to find out what causes the eruptions.

I want to share some Shouto headcanons with y’all because I love that boy so much. They range from his high school days to his pro hero days so they’re all over the place. Also there are some with tododeku so there’s that. I’ve had discussions with @brightismarstonight and @alartes-draws over some of these, too. :)

His nerves can get damaged if he uses too much of his power. So he can have like fried nerves on his left side and frozen nerves on his right side. 

Because of this, he feels numbness at times. 

It’s gonna sound gross, but he carries a bottle/vile of Katsuki’s sweat. Whenever he needs some fire power (haha pun intended), he throws it at a villain and then shoots his fire and BOOM. 

He’s more of a long-range fighter, but he’s been training for short-range attacks, too. When he’s fighting an opponent and dodges them with his arms, he activates his quirk so by touching them, he can freeze or burn them, depending where he’s touching like an arm or a leg.

He has multiple burns on his left side.

Because of the burn on his left eye, he lost sight in it and now he’s blind in that eye. He has a kick ass support item/prosthetic eye designed by Mei and she has all these features he can use like infrared/heat-sensing/night vision. So he has that advantage over people because nobody can sneak up on him from behind. 

That prosthetic requires a support item to be attached to his head so that it can receive environmental signals and relay it to his prosthetic so he has a green earring on his left ear. It also records information and stores data so it’s useful when he’s working on investigations. 

He and Ochako train together because she needs training against long-range fighters and Shouto needs training against short-range fighters. Even though Shouto can freeze her in place, she touches him and sends him out of the space they train in. 

The dekusquad works out together and helps each other out, especially when motivating each other while lifting weights and working on particularly difficult exercises. 

Shouto likes sitting on Izuku’s back while Izuku does push-ups. He usually reads a book or eats soba, or he counts for Izuku and cheers for him. Yes, this is a reference to that one fanart, but I can’t find it so if someone could get the link for me, I’d really appreciate it. 

Izuku is the toughest when it comes to working out. Shouto likes to train with him when he wants a solid workout because Izuku is not his boyfriend when they train. Izuku takes things very seriously and Shouto enjoys that attitude. He also thinks it’s hot when Izuku yells at him. 

He believes he is not fast enough, so he trains with Tenya and has asked him about exercises to help with his speed. 

Shouto lets his hair grow long because he wants to look like his mom. He’s tried dying it to cover his crimson hair, but the dye dissolves when he uses his flames. He asked Mei to make him a special, fire/heat resistant dye and she was more than happy to oblige. 

Honestly he’s her favorite customer besides Izuku and Tenya. 

He is weak around children. To the point where he will weep if they are being extra cute or if they dress up like him. When he is a pro hero and he sees kids dressed up as him, he feels so happy about it and tells them they look amazing. 

He doesn’t get involved in politics, but he has spoken out on his disapproval of quirk marriages and they should be illegal. He also advocates/supports people who have been abused and visits centers to volunteer. 

When he rescues kids, he makes sure to give them a smile and to reassure them that they will be alright. He provides warmth with his left side to help them feel safer. It’s always a great feeling when the kids hold on to him and smile back even if they were just rescued from danger. 

Izuku and him have the best teamwork and Aizawa has praised them for it. “You don’t have synergy with your quirks, but your teamwork is so good it doesn’t matter.” 

As a pro hero, he likes to take on interns who have fire/ice/strength quirks. The first two because he himself has them, and the latter because he knows the mechanics of a strength quirk thanks to Izuku. 

He doesn’t like to use kettles to boil water, so he uses a pan and boils water there or heats water in the microwave instead. Kettles give him anxiety and when they whistle, he panics. So no kettles allowed whenever he is in the general vicinity. The dekusquad will kill the kettle. I got inspired by this fanart/headcanon set for this one.

When he’s older and he and Izuku are together/married, he wears his t-shirts, like 100% Beef or Training To Be Like All Might, and because Izuku has worn them in public before, there’s pictures of him with them on. So if Shouto gets asked about the shirts, he just says they’re Izuku’s. That’s it, nobody needs that much context. 

When his mother is released from the hospital, Shouto goes to live with her. He takes her out to eat or to go shopping or just to spend time together. He buys her gifts and spoils her. And he is always hugging and kissing her. 

When he’s older, he becomes less oblivious, but he pretends to not understand so people can back off, mainly reporters. 

Speaking of the media, he doesn’t like to share his personal/private information with the media except for a few occasions. When a reporter was curious about his orientation, he didn’t want to answer because he didn’t think it mattered what his preference was. But the reporter asked him if it would embarrass his father and that instantly convinced him to grab the microphone, look at the camera, and announce he was gay. RIP Endeav*r. 

Again speaking of the media, he may not like talking to them, but he isn’t rude about it. He answers quick questions and then excuses himself. But he is VERY nice to the public and will sign autographs and take pictures with people. 

He likes to talk about All Might so whenever he and Izuku start talking, they don’t stop. They can talk for DAYS and won’t run out of things to discuss. 

He focuses a lot more on teamwork rather than working alone because he has experienced that working with others gets better results than working individually. He also never takes credit for what he does, even if he was involved. He doesn’t need to take credit to know he did his job. 

Because of this, he doesn’t care about ranks anymore. If he’s a top hero, that’s great, but he doesn’t need a rank to be a hero. He’s a hero because he wants to save people and be like All Might, and be the kind of hero he wants to be. Doing it just for a rank would make him feel hollow and hypocritical. 

He refuses to work for his father after he graduates from UA. Instead, he works for Tensei Iida over at his agency and gets great experience and grows as a person and as a hero because Tensei is an open and honest boss with ideals that match Shouto’s. 

When he and Izuku have more experience and money, they set up their own hero agency and become a duo. They have multiple sidekicks and heroes working for them. They also accept interns and have even request the whole Class 1A from UA every year, but they always get turned down and are told they can only have up to 2 interns.

He is intimidating even when he isn’t mad. He has a resting bitch face and people are scared of him. But when he opens his mouth and starts talking, it’s all Gucci because he’s not that scary once he talks about random things like his favorite heroes. 

Speaking of his favorites, he shamelessly wears their merch and will promote them, like All Might and his classmates from 1A. (You think Izuku is the only one doing this??? Of course not! 1A is family and love and support each other throughout their careers. Shouto does his part and wears their shirts.)

He loves Izuku’s mother. When they met, they instantly clicked and wouldn’t stop talking about cooking and baking and other things (like Izuku). She showed him baby pictures of Izuku and he came so close to crying because he couldn’t believe how cute he was as a kid. He fawned over the pictures and asked for copies. This made Izuku very flustered and Inko very happy. Instant son-in-law.

When he gets the chance, he can sleep all day. His friends get concerned when they don’t see him come out of his room and think he’s hurt or dead, but he was just sleeping. After living in the dorms for a few weeks, the kids are used to it by now and don’t worry it. 

He and Aizawa have talks sometimes and it gets very deep. They both have monotone voices so when someone overhears them, it sounds funny even if they’re both being serious.

Ok so although this guide is intended for install on the above hardware it may or may not work on other hardware, It will most likely work on the UD3, UD5 and UD7 motherboards aswell as most modern Radeon HD Graphics.

Requirements

The following items will be required in order for this to work.

Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 (DVD or USB)

Niresh 10.9 (Torrent: http://www.niresh12495.com (it's the most downloaded file currently))

A USB Pen (Niresh - 10.9 - Mavericks USB Version.zip) or Dual Layer DVD+R (Niresh - 10.9 - Mavericks ISO Version.zip)

Access to both Windows and the Niresh Mavericks USB at the same time.

You need to take your time and be patient. Both windows and OS X take some time to install.

1 HDD that is able to be completely formatted (wipe partition table)

Note: you don't need Windows if you don't want to dual boot

Preparation

I am not going to cover how to write the DMG file to a USB pen or DVD and instead will just link you to http://www.macbreaker.com/2014/01/instal...iresh.html (Step 1a if your currently in OS X and 1b if your in Windows)

So once you have the Bootable USB/DVD with Niresh on it we are ready to begin.

We need to format the HDD with the partition type MBR (for some reason when i did this with windows it didn't work) to do this will shall boot to the Niresh USB/DVD and at the prompt highlight 'Niresh Mavericks' and simply type 'amdfx GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 -v' and press 'Enter'.

If you don't plan on dual booting you can skip to 'Installing OS X 10.9'.

After a short time it should start booting to the OS X installer, Select your language and then in the menu bar Select Utilities > Disk Utilities > Select the HDD you want to use > Partition > 2 Partitions and then set the 1st as MS-DOS (FAT) name it 'Windows' and the 2nd as 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' name it 'Mavericks' now select 'Options' and make sure it's set to 'MBR (Master Boot Record)' then press 'Apply'

OK now the HDD is properly partitioned, We now move on to installing Windows.

Installing Windows 7, 8 or 8.1

This is installed just like normal, Except you need to make sure it doesn't install the UEFI version (make sure to select the non UEFI DVD/USB entry from the boot menu)

Once your at the install simply do a 'Custom Install' and then install windows to the 1st Partition it will need to be formated to NTFS via the format button below prior to being installed.

After the install is complete go through the standard welcome screen and post install setup and then we can move on to installing Niresh's OS X 10.9

And now we are on to the main event, Installing OS X.

Boot to the Niresh USB/DVD and then at the prompt highlight 'Niresh Mavericks' and simply type 'amdfx GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 -v' and press 'Enter'

Now you should be back at the OS X install screen, This time we will actually install it, Follow the on screen wizard until you get to the HDD Select page then select the 'Mavericks' disk but DO NOT PRESS NEXT/INSTALL instead press 'Customize' and uncheck the option 'GraphicsEnabler' located under the 'Graphics' section.

Now you can begin the install. Press the install button and prepare to wait a while depending on your SSD/HDD.

Fixing A Few Issues With OS X

Ok now we have OS X and Windows installed but most likely booting OS X from the HDD won't work and instead you will need to use the USB/DVD.

So once again boot to the Niresh USB/DVD but then at the prompt highlight 'Mavericks' instead of 'Niresh Mavericks' enter ' 'Kernel Cache'=amd GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 -v ' note the quotes need to be entered around the words 'Kernel Cache'.

After a little while it should boot to OS X and ask you to enter various information for the welcome screen, After you have entered this you should be at either the 'Login Screen' or the 'Desktop'.

If your using the exact same card as mine you most likely are not running at native resolution and are instead forced to 1024x768, To fix this we need to modify 2 kext files, if your running at native resolution skip the step below.

Load up a Terminal (Search > Terminal) and then type 'sudo su' and enter admin password, Now type 'nano /System/Library/Extensions/AMD7000Controller.kext/Contents/Info.plist' and then find '68181002' and change it to your device and vendor ID (mine is 68191002) once done press 'Ctrl or Win + X' and then repeat the same change for '/System/Library/Extensions/AMDRadeonX4000.kext/Contents/Info.plist'.

Now the graphics is sorted provided your using a similar card to mine atleast, Now we can sort out issues with the bootloader on the HDD, Download 'Chameleon Wizard' then run it and select 'Boot0HFS' as the install mode and then press 'Install'.

Now reboot and you should be able to boot from the HDD and select the 'Mavericks' option, you may need to enter 'GraphicsEnabler=No' and '-v' is useful to see more detailed/verbose information.

Congratulations you are done sorting out OS X, The steps below are optional but highly recommended.

Updating the AMD Kernel and OS X

So you successfully got OS X working on your system, Now we should update OS X to the latest version (10.9.1 as of the time i was writing this) and the AMD Kernel to a newer and faster version.

Download the following file http://www.osx86.net/files/download/3736...4-support/ and extract it.

Next select 'Go' on the menu bar, and then 'Go to folder' and then '/', This will put you to the root of the OS X Partition, Now we need to replace the mach_kernel with the download mach_kernel file. Simply copy and paste and confirm the authentication.

Now we need to copy the downloaded 'System.kext' to '/System/Library/Extensions/', once this is done you will most likely get some errors don't panic!.

Now we load 'Kext Wizard' (installed with niresh) and select 'Repair' and 'Rebuild' under the '/System/Library/Extensions/'.

Once 'Kext Wizard' is done, Click the 'Apple icon' in the 'Menu Bar' and select 'Software Update' and 'Update All', This will take a little while, When asked to reboot say yes.

Now your system should reboot and you should be back at OS X at 10.9.1 instead of 10.9.0.

Running Windows 8 Inside OS X Using VMWare Fusion

Ok so, So far we have Windows and OS X installed to the same HDD on your PC, Now we will use the physical install of Windows inside of VMWare Fusion this will allow us to use Windows both inside of OS X and as a actual boot option.

Of Course this requires VMWare Fusion and this is a commercial piece of software therefore you will need to acquire VMWare Fusion prior to continuing.

Ok so now that you have acquired VMWare Fusion and installed it we can continue on to setting up the 'boot camp' partition.

Download Os X Mavericks Installer

Firstly we need to make sure that the windows partition is set to be the active partition, to do this we can load 'Terminal' > 'sudo su' > 'fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0' > 'f 1' > 'write' > 'y' > 'exit'.

Ok now it should have set the windows partition as the active partition, Now load up 'VMWare Fusion' and select 'More Options' and then 'Install from bootcamp' and then 'Create bootcamp virtual machine'.

Now the VM should be created and you should be able to simply start the VM and Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 should start and start the vmware tools install procedure. Now exit the VM and VMWare.

Now we need to restore the active partition back to OS X by doing the following load 'Terminal' > 'sudo su' > 'fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0' > 'f 2' > 'write' > 'y' > 'exit'.

And now we are done! click the 'unity' button in VMWare to integrate it even more. We now have VMWare with Windows + Windows as Dual Boot with OS X.

What is CryptoLocker?

CryptoLocker is by now a well known piece of malware that can be especially damaging for any data-driven organization. Once the code has been executed, it encrypts files on desktops and network shares and “holds them for ransom”, prompting any user that tries to open the file to pay a fee to decrypt them. For this reason, CryptoLocker and its variants have come to be known as “ransomware.”

Malware like CryptoLocker can enter a protected network through many vectors, including email, file sharing sites, and downloads. New variants have successfully eluded anti-virus and firewall technologies, and it’s reasonable to expect that more will continue to emerge that are able to bypass preventative measures. In addition to limiting the scope of what an infected host can corrupt through buttressing access controls, detective and corrective controls are recommended as a next line of defense.

Update September 2018: Ransomware attacks have decreased significantly since their peak in 2017. CryptoLocker and it’s variants are no longer in wide distribution, and new ransomware has taken over. Ransomware has evolved as more of a targeted attack instead of the previous wide distribution model, and is still a threat to businesses and government entities.

What Does CryptoLocker Do?

On execution, CryptoLocker begins to scan mapped network drives that the host is connected to for folders and documents (see affected file-types), and renames and encrypts those that it has permission to modify, as determined by the credentials of the user who executes the code.

CryptoLocker uses an RSA 2048-bit key to encrypt the files, and renames the files by appending an extension, such as, .encrypted or .cryptolocker or .(7 random characters), depending on the variant. Finally, the malware creates a file in each affected directory linking to a web page with decryption instructions that require the user to make a payment (e.g. via bitcoin). Instruction file names are typically DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION.txt or DECRYPT_INSTRUCTIONS.html.

As new variants are uncovered, information will be added to the Varonis Connect discussion on Ransomware. For example, a variant known as “CTB-Locker” creates a single file in the directory where it first begins to encrypt files, named, !Decrypt-All-Files-(RANDOM 7 chars).TXT or !Decrypt-All-Files-(RANDOM 7 chars).BMP.

How to Prevent CryptoLocker

The more files a user account has access to, the more damage malware can inflict. Restricting access is therefore a prudent course of action, as it will limit the scope of what can be encrypted. In addition to offering a line of defense for malware, it will mitigate potential exposure to other attacks from both internal and external actors.

While getting to a least privilege model is not a quick fix, it’s possible to reduce exposure quickly by removing unnecessary global access groups from access control lists. Groups like “Everyone,” “Authenticated Users,” and “Domain Users,” when used on data containers (like folders and SharePoint sites) can expose entire hierarchies to all users in a company. In addition to being easy targets for theft or misuse, these exposed data sets are very likely to be damaged in a malware attack. On file servers, these folders are known as “open shares,” if both file system and sharing permissions are accessible via a global access group.

Although it’s easiest to use technologies designed to find and eliminate global access groups, it is possible to spot open shares by creating a user with no group memberships, and using that account’s credentials to “scan” the file sharing environment. For example, even basic net commands from a windows cmd shell can be used to enumerate and test shares for accessibility:

net view (enumerates nearby hosts)

net view host (enumerates shares)

net use X: hostshare (maps a drive to the share)

dir /s (enumerates all the files readable by the user under the share)

These commands can be easily combined in a batch script to identify widely accessible folders and files. Remediating these without automation, unfortunately, can be a time-consuming and risky endeavor, as it’s easy to affect normal business activity if you’re not careful. If you uncover a large amount of accessible folders, consider an automated solution. Automated solutions can also help you go farther than eliminating global access, making it possible to achieve a true least-privilege model and eliminate manual, ineffective access-control management at the same time.

How to Detect CryptoLocker

If file access activity is being monitored on affected files servers, these behaviors generate very large numbers of open, modify, and create events at a very rapid pace, and are fairly easy to spot with automation, providing a valuable detective control. For example, if a single user account modifies 100 files within a minute, it’s a good bet something automated is going on. Configure your monitoring solution to trigger an alert when this behavior is observed. Varonis DatAlert monitors and tracks file system behavior for ransomware attacks out-of-the-box. There is no need for extra configuration if Varonis is monitoring your data.

If you don’t have an automated solution to monitor file access activity, you may be forced to enable native auditing. Native auditing, unfortunately, taxes monitored systems and the output is difficult to decipher. Instead of attempting to enable and collect native audit logs on each system, prioritize particularly sensitive areas and consider setting up a file share honeypot.

A file share honeypot is an accessible file share that contains files that look normal or valuable, but in reality are fake. As no legitimate user activity should be associated with a honeypot file share, any activity observed should be scrutinized carefully. If you’re stuck with manual methods, you’ll need to enable native auditing to record access activity, and create a script to alert you when events are written to the security event log (e.g. using dumpel.exe).

If your detective control mechanism can trigger an automated response, such as disabling the user account, the attack is effectively stopped before inflicting further damage. For example, a response to a user that generates more than 100 modify events within a minute might include:

Notifying IT and security administrators (include the affected username and machine)

Checking the machine’s registry for known keys/values that CryptoLocker creates:

if value exists, disable user automatically.

If recorded access activity is preserved and adequately searchable, it becomes invaluable in recovery efforts, as it provides a complete record of all affected files, user accounts, and (potentially) hosts. Varonis customers can use the output from report 1a (as described here) to restore files from a backup or shadow copy.

Depending on the variant of CryptoLocker, encryption may be reversible with a real-time disassembler.

Ransomware Safety Tips

Update your antivirus and endpoint protection software – these solutions can help detect certain types of ransomware and prevent it from encrypting your files.

Avoid phishing scams – phishing emails are the most prevalent delivery mechanism for ransomware.

Keep backups of your documents – it’s much faster and easier to recover your documents from a backup than it is to decrypt them, if they’ve been compromised in a ransomware attack.

Commit to a zero-trust/least privilege model – ransomware can only affect the folders a user can write to. A least privilege model limits that access to only what’s absolutely necessary.

Monitor file activity and user behavior to detect, alert and respond to potential ransomware activity.

How to get International Driving License in India?

Depending on where you’re traveling to, you may want to take the road less traveled and experience the country’s local flavors and sights by opting for a road trip versus the conventional tour buses and public transportation.

A road trip across a new country or city not only helps you experience the place better on your own terms but also gives you a chance to really get to know the place and its people on a profound level.

Now, whether you’re great behind the steering wheel or just an average driver, one of the most important documents you’ll require to embark on your road trip is an International Driving License. Just like you need a valid Indian Driver’s License in India, you would need an International Driving License to be able to legally drive in a foreign country.

What is an International Driving License?

The official legal document issued by the road transport authority to drive a car or two-wheeler outside of India is referred to as an International Driving License. If you already have a valid driver’s license, obtaining an IDL should not take you more than 4 to 5 business days.

The International Driving License is nothing but an official translation of your current driving license. It states that you do hold a valid driver’s license and translates your documents into languages that can be understood by authorities abroad.

Why is it important to have an International Driving License?

To put it across simply - it's important so that you can drive on foreign roads legally and not get into trouble with foreign authorities! How to Apply for an International Driving License in India?

The procedure is simple and should not take you more than 4-5 business days. Following are the steps for it:

Pick up the required form, 'Form for the Issue of International Driving Permit', or Form 4 from your nearest RTO or you can even download it online on the International Control Traffic Association.

Provide necessary details like address, driver's license number and details of the country you are traveling.

Deposit all the necessary documents along with the form.

Take the driving test.

Pay the fee for IDL.

Wait for processing and you will receive your IDL.

Here are some of the basic conditions that need to be met to get an IDL:

The candidate should be above 18 years of age.

The candidate should have a valid driving license.

The candidate should be an Indian Citizen.

Documents required for the International Driving License

Copy of passport and respective visa

Copy of flight tickets

Duly signed medical certificate issued by a doctor. Form CMV 1 & 1A stating medical conditions. The certificate helps to know your health status.

Duly signed and sealed form CMV-4, also known as application form. It can be procured from the local RTO.

Age proof, address proof and passport size photograph/s.

Certified proof of Indian Citizenship.

Can I apply online?

Yes, you can apply online. To get the IDL (International Driving License) the procedure can be worked out both offline and online.

Offline: For offline mode of IDL application, you can fill and submit your form to your RTO along with all the relevant documents.

Online: Visit the website of the International Control Traffic Association, download the forms needed. When you are through with the forms and other formalities, submit it along with the required fees. Other than the application form, you will have to upload the required documents too.

The fees chargeable for the International Driving License have been renewed from ₹500 to ₹1,000.

The renewal procedure for International Driving License in India

Generally, an International Driving License is valid for only one year. In case you’re traveling again and need to renew your IDL, here’s what you need to do:

Apply online through the International Control Traffic Association.

Attach scanned copies your passport size photograph. Make sure it is recent (not older than 3 months).

Attach the signed photocopy of your driver’s license, both front and back.

Attach all documents submitted earlier.

Take the driving test. If the driver’s license is issued within 3 months of application to IDP/IDL then you need to retake the test.

Pay the required fee.

Remember the time when your certificates got you an interview and there was no pre-test for it? How great it made you feel! The same is the case with International Driving License for which there is no need to qualify a driving test in the country where you will drive. Not only four-wheelers, with your IDL you can also drive two-wheelers outside India on international roads.

BNHA AU Ideas: Don’t Praise the Almighty (Part 1)

hold on to your hats everyone - this is part one. i was going to put them together, then i realised part two is 6000 words and thats just too long 

TW for: implied abuse of all kinds, straight-up physical and emotional child abuse, gaslighting, all might if he was a terrible person.

TL;DR:

izuku wants to be a hero, imagine the first ep happens etc. yagi doesnt so much say "you can be a hero" as "ill make you a hero"

an aside: inko is an absent parent, to make ends meet and a poor way of coping with a missing Hisashi. Izuku grows up without any positive adults figures in his life.

yagi makes izuku train and train and train, the kid’s hands bleed and his legs ache but allmight makes him keep going. allmight says he's useless and pathetic and a crybaby and izuku believes him, because he's allmight

they spar and yagi just holds back enough to not let izuku get hurt too badly to train. even katsuki is disturbed bc quirkless deku is coming to school with black eyes and swollen wrists

when katsuki calls him pathetic izuku just nods

"ill get better though"

and katsuki feels so gross he doesnt try to fuck with izuku for weeks

and so izuku is so convinced this is normal because katsuki does it, and mum does it, and now allmight? thats just how you treat kids he thinks. or quirkless ones at least

hes still a big fan of allmight because he doesnt see whats wrong. hes just pathetic and useless but then he'll get a quirk and he'll be worth something for the first time in his life

he barely sleeps, barely eats, just trains and studies and trains some more. he collapses. all might stands there until izuku gets back up and makes him keep running

reasons all mights like this

he is 1, suffering from internalised quirk discrimination

2, nana's dead bc she wasn't "strong enough"

3, he thinks he can shape izuku into the perfect selfless hero, and better person than he ever was.

hes convinced this is for the greater good. hes a dick but hes so sure hes in the right here

by the time of the entrance exam izuku is,,, kinda fucked up

he passes with flying colours because he used his quirk for the first time, broke his arm, and immediately moved on to snaping finger after finger. the teachers watched on, horrified as this child mutilated himself to get points

all might smiled. because this is what he wanted.

he saves ochacco too

he gets in and allmight is pleased with him, even more pleased than the time izuku admitted he hadn't slept for 72 hours and still got a perfect score on his test

and izuku thinks this was all worth it to see his hero smile at him

izuku is in 1A

izuku actually listed that he feels less pain due to his quirk, which aizawa believes but hes still not sold on the idea of a hero that destroys themselves. he doesnt know if izuku heals better or faster, but he's sure that may broken bones cant be good

aizawa is convinced he's going to expel izuku during the quirk test. the look he sees on izuku’s face when he says he's expelling the lowest scorer makes his stomach churn

because all of the other kids look worried, nervous

izuku looks like hes going to throw up.

the kid is trembling and pale and aizawa watches as he turns to ochako, smiles brightly and says "let's do our best" while he holds back full body tremors the other kids don't see

he breaks toes and fingers and he cries but he doesn't flinch at the pain

the only time he flinches is when someone looks him in the eyes, if someone speaks too loud, and at the firecracker pops of katsuki's quirk

and aizawa feels sick

the ball toss, he just can't watch this kid break anymore, and he stops his quirk

for a second he freezes, because this kids quirk manages pain, he'll be feeling all of those broken bones, he'll obviously notice

right?

but izuku doesnt notice his missing quirk until he throws the ball. he turns around, looking sick. aizawa feels so lost when he looks at him with pure relief

"oh, you're eraserhead"

izuku tears up for the first time in that class.

"please give me back my quirk"

aizawa feels so lost he blinks, and his quirk drops with it. there is something totally wrong about the utter relief the kid feels having this horrifically damaging quirk back, and there is something bothering aizawa about it, but he doesn't know what

"dont use your quirk for the rest of this test, kid. not unless you can use it without breaking something"

izuku nods but aizawa knows the kid will just try to hide it. he takes him by the shoulder when the others have moved on

"i mean it, midoriya. no quirk, or i'll expell you on the spot"

and izuku just looks so lost

"but, i have to? i'm-"

"you didn't flinch when i took your quirk. you can feel every broken bone, can't you?"

izuku just nods, like walking with broken toes is normal, like throwing a ball with broken fingers is easy. aizawa knows it's not

he just sighs.

"no quirk. we'll work on training it after. you're ahead enough not to fail the course, go to recovery girl now. you aren't expelled"

izuku just looks hurt

aizawa shoos him away and almost misses the thin form of all might slink out from behind the wall to follow izuku

he's worried, and confused. But he can't just, abandon a field of kids

he texts hizashi bc that's just who he texts when he's panicking, and he asks him to look out for smallmight and izuku, somewhere on the way to the infirmary. so present mic turns on the first movie he finds on his computer (an english language copy of rocky) yells "ENGLISH PRACTISE TIME" and runs out the door

1C is so lost

anyway, present mic can be quiet when he tries and when he hears the sound of allmight sternly talking to a student that's crying? he tries real fucking hard

he basically catches

"you're supposed to be stronger than this, why did he make you stop?"

"he saw my bones breaking-i couldnt-"

"and so you flinched? didn't we train?"

"i didnt flinch! he made me stop!"

allmight backhands him

"dont waste it. either get better at hiding it or learn to use your quirk without breaking bones quickly or ill find another successor. one that isn't useless."

present mic hears izuku agree and cry and he feels ill. he sneaks back a little further, then loudly walks down the hall. allmight smiles at him, and he wants to punch the man

izuku smiles at him too, tears in his eyes but like he's happy to see another hero. present mic cant understand why izuku is pressed so close to a man that hurt him, like he's more afraid of present mic than allmight

he walks with them to recovery girl, chatting like he was meant to be there. hes so grateful allmight is new, because he totally has a class he's meant to be teaching right now and that would be so suspicious if he knew his schedule 

he walks them all the way to the door, and he lingers. there is a touch of steel in his eyes when he tells allmight to take care because what he really means is "take care of yourself because i will not"

and hes halfway down the corridor before he freezes

why did izuku seem so comfortable with a man he shouldn't know

anyway present mic is having a quiet breakdown for 20 seconds before he sprints back to his class, pretends he never left, and panic texts aizawa

so aizawa, with a little great context, knows that that, particular, conversation wasn't as,,, unsavoury,,, as it could,,, be implied,,,

but like,,,,,, he's really lost on why izuku would know small might and he's very worried

bakugo is fuCKinG PisSed

izuku left?? and he wasn't expelled???

Any,,, unsavoury implications arent something I'm going to talk ab in this au bc it doesn't need to be worse,,, but it's very much intentional

so aizawa is having an actual moral crisis rn bc hizashi isn't a liar and he doesn't want to like, not believe when he saw. but really? the symbol of peace is terrible??? and hizashi doesn't want to believe it either. both of them as so sure they are just missing context or something

bakugo stalks up to recovery girls office after class bc wtf deku?? and he walks in to just see izuku blankly picking at new white scars

he actually perks up when katsuki enters

and there is this man standing over izuku. this man he's seen with izuku before, yelling at him, but someone izuku seems happy to be around. it's not deku’s dad, he knows that. and the guy is too blonde and tall to have literally any relation to him.

a lot of the fire in katsuki goes out when he sees how tired izuku looks, and the question he was going to yell becomes more of a mumble

"so, you have a quirk now? just like that?"

he looks up and he sees that man's hand on izuku's shoulder, curled like a claw, so tight it must hurt. but izuku doesn't flinch or shy away, he smiles softly

"i'm really lucky, huh kacchan?"

and as much as izuku looks like he believes it, katsuki has the strongest feeling that this is the worst possible thing that could have happened to his once-friend

he just leaves

and he almost runs straight into his new teacher. they lock eyes and even though katsuki doesn't know whats going on, aizawa doesn't know whats going on, they both just know something is happening

and its not good

but what can they do

hes the symbol of peace

recovery girl is 100% in denial bc she new baby toshi and he's a dork but he's a good boy

izuku gets knocked tf out by recovery girls heal and toshi carries him out of the school grounds and shes like "how cute"

honestly they get to they gate, he wakes izuku up and reminds him to run home to get in the extra cardio, and izuku does. all the way home.. not only bc yagi wanted him to, but that's a big bit but bc if he was late hed wouldn’t get dinner

so the battle trial

so aizawa is like,,, : | ab everything

so he attends the battle trial rather than take the nap he really fucking wanted

the kids come out in their costumes and something sits poorly about the way izuku positively preens at almighty compliments. so basically it goes like the show, but allmight doesnt try to stop Bakugo. aizawa doesn't have audio, but he sees what the kids see and rips the mic out of allmights hand to tell bakugo to stop

he doesnt have to, though

because izuku has already vanished from sight

bakugo looks lost, aizawa is worried, but allmight just looks smug because a second later, izuku drops from the ceiling where he swung up, and punches bakugo in the back of the head

allmight grins and it looks nasty

izuku gives bakugo a once-over to make sure hes ok, wraps his wrists, then puts him in the recovery position and scampers out of the room to ochako

aizawa is lost, because that is c l e a r l y combat training. from the back of the room, todoroki starts watching in earnest

with ochako, he grabs the bomb. they walk out of the exercise and all might congratulates them on winning and izuku looks so happy! but allmight isn't done

"young midoriya, why didn't you use your quirk?"

the only people that notice the way he pales are todoroki and aizawa

"sorry sir, i didn't want to disappoint mr aizawa"

allmight nods, and he smiles but aizawa doesnt like it

"thats ok my boy, we'll have to see about getting you some out of class quirk training, huh?"

izuku smiles. hes happy, but he looks panicked

he looks guilty about being afraid

aizawa silently tells his agency he needs the week off to investigate something personal, and they readily give him the time off

izuku mumbles happily to himself about the exercise, stilling when all might looks gazes with him. he stops, flushes, and apologises. allmight nods.

he begins again, but hes not mumbling anymore, hes speaking clearly and concisely with the other students, even though he doesnt want to talk to them, he just wants to think. but allmight says to talk clearly to everyone or to remain silent and he just wants so badly to talk about the exercise

todoroki looks between izuku and allmight and he wonders

USJ time baby

allmight uses up his time, like before

the difference is, when the nomu comes for aizawa? izuku doesnt hesitate to jump in. thats what allmight wanted. he wanted someone so selfless that "would i give my life for them" isn't even a question that would cross their mind, they would just move

izuku stalls. he's shivering and shaking, walking on broken toes but he stands between aizawa and the nomu and he smiles

shigiraki looks at izuku and doesn't see a hero in training. he sees someone like him, like his league. someone who has be stepped on and ruined and reborn

and he wants him

when he sees something he likes, he wants it. like his sensei and his quirks. shigiaki collects people like action figures to use how he likes

anyway, he sees this little 'hero' and for all his stubbornness he knows he won't get izuku today

so he does what his sensei did to him all those years ago

he shows kindness. just enough to break him

he looks izuku in the eyes and says

"hero society is so rotten they break children into weapons to fight other broken pieces. whats fair about that?"

and izuku looks stunned. he drops his smile.

"from one broken piece to another, i wont shatter you today."

kurogiri moves izuku and aizawa just outside of the usj

they cant get in, aizawa has no quirk to break through the walls and izuku is shell shocked

he takes a second to look at aizawa like his world is falling down and aizawa understands.

and then

allmight appears

and aizawa hates himself for how relieved he feels

allmight looks at izuku and izuku smiles so wide. and then he frowns

"they want to kill you"

"they aren't the first, my boy."

and izuku pauses

"they seem pretty sure they can, sir."

and allmights smile looks meaner

"what, you really think so little of this old man?"

and izuku shakes his head violently

"not at all! no, im sorry-"

allmight looks at his student and suddenly there isnt a wall anymore, blasted into tiny shards by allmight’s punch. izuku scrambles inside after him

aizawa tells him to stay outside, to stay safe. but allmight levels a glare at him that almost hurts to meet. aizawa cringes and rushes after them, cradling broken arms

the fight ends much the same, but upon seeing izuku in the way on his hand, shigiraki closes his fist

allmight doesn't miss that

and, with that the other teachers arrive. and again, present mic and aizawa wonder why izuku knows allmight small form

oh also just as a weird powerplay thing, allmight calls izuku by his first name in private while izuku calls him sir everywhere

aizawa has the worst of the injuries, but years of sleep deprivation mean he can pretty easily resist the call of sleep after recovery girls quirk. not that anyone knows that. so he hears the edges of a conversation between hero and student

he hears sobs and a slap and apologies from both parties. he hears a louder conversation on training after class to better use izuku’s quirk and aizawa decides he's going to force himself into this 'training' because he doesnt like the optics on any of this

allmights angry that the villains were fond of izuku, bc that means izuku was doing something wrong, right? and he's also angry izuku barely used his quirk, but he does kinda understand needing to be able to walk still

anyway in the training we get the joy of a creepy scene of yagi assessing the physique of a barely dressed izuku

aizawa isn't there yet and boy howdy does he feel ill when yagi walks out of the changing rooms a few minutes before izuku does

anyway so it doesn't take long for yagi and aizawa to get izuku using his quirk w/o achy breaky bones and izuku is proud, and so is aizawa

but yagi just kinda pipes in with "about time" and izukus face crumples

aizawa just says "better late than never" and izuku gives a watery smile

yagi scares enji but he just royally pisses off todoroki

bc todoroki just looks at the guy

"big strong me, what you gonna do, punch me? yeah right bastard and i'll go screaming to the press. I dont give a fuck what you think you dick of an old man!"

please izuku is totally convinced that this is just normal training, that yagi is doing his best and a teacher, is doing right by him. and shouto is just,,, he doesnt know the whole story. just knows that all might scares izuku and that all mights secretary has a connection to him

but he knows that yagi was creepy enough to make his old man have bad vibes and thats an achievement

Enji sat, reigning back a snarl as the green boy threw Shouto -his Shouto- from the ring, to land on his back in a graceless cloud of dust. Beside him, All Might’s secretary grinned. It wasn’t a nice grin, like the hero, but a nasty crawling one that made Enji feel cold even with his flames dancing around his face.

Enji had never liked the man, his instincts telling him there was something horrifically off about him. But the number one hero had resources he couldn’t dream of, so he kept his lips shut.

“Well done, my boy.”

There was no familial resemblance between the skeletal man beside him, and the boy who stood both victorious and broken where his son should have been. No resemblance to the hulking oaf of a hero either. But their quirks were markedly similar, as were their smiles, if the boy’s was a little kinder.

The man turned to him, all polite smiles and condolences for his son’s loss.

The smug aura around him so strong that Enji allowed himself, for just a second, to pity the boy in green.

Its just tenya and todoroki who know

and quickly bakugo too, bc he was there for shoutos tragic backstory reveal, which included izukus too

and like,,, mic and aizawa are in denial bc jesus christ its the number one hero and hes normally so nice

izuku v katsuki babey!

basically izuku starts to panic and bakugo stops the fight and grabs his hand

"pull yourself together deku. forget everyone else, this is just a fight between me and you, go it?"

and izuku gives a shakey smile, and nods. bakugo releases his hand

"lets start this again, huh izuku"

"sure thing kacc-. Katsuki"

and then fiGHT and its great and its a tie bc they are both so fucking exhausted. izuku and bakguo have to get hauled to their feet by midnight, but both of them are grinning

izuku has trouble w his hero name, like, a l o t bc everything he comes up with yagi says no

but yagi wont give him any ideas eventually izuku just ends up with his hero name being "nine" bc yagi liked that one

katsuki can just,,, tell izuku doesn't like it (bc it reduces him as a hero down to his quirk)

(he wants the name jackrabbit)

he has no supports in his costume bc "it makes you look weak" and no support gear either

ok so , his bones are less fucked than canon zuku but hes willing to break them fucking constantly

aizawa actually comes up to him before the sports festival and says "you break your bones, you get disqualified. no excuses"

yagi is p i s s e d but just nods politely to aizawa tells izuku hed better do as aizawa says, as stupid as a request it may be

also izuku really,, wants to paint his nails dumb glittery colours like ochako and mina do so they paint his nails for him! and then at lunch yagi scrubs the polish off with a dish scrubber

to make it worse, mina is sad izuku took it off, but she just

pauses

when she sees his fingers are almost bleeding

"midoriya, what happened?"

"oh haha funny thing, one of our teachers said i might get a uniform violation so i got a little enthusastic with scrubbing it off, sorry!"

aizawa just winces

one of the finals nails in the coffin is todoroki asking if "the tall thin blonde guy" is izukus dad

aizawa says no

todoroki says "good"

so izuku finds iida and steps between iida and stain, starts fighting him, todoroki shows up, stain starts rambling about how allmight is the best hero and todoroki gives him a strange look

"i used to agree. but seeing allmight at school, i dont think hes the icon of morality everyone says"

izuku is spluttering, denying it, stain is just watching them. so stain isnt even fighting them, hes interested. bc this selfless kid is the one shigiraki wants

iida is lost too and he gets this,,, look in his eyes like he's starting to connect some dots

anyway, fight proceeds, they win the nomu tries to carry izuku off, stain stops the nomu and saves izuku and vaguely he realizes the way izuku just, sits in his arms, like he doesnt know how to react to being touched, and he pushes it aside

and he holds izuku close because all he knows is that this boy is kind and good and the world has hurt him and he says that this boy he is holding is the only hero hes ever worth met their salt

oh but after the hero killer thing, yagi storms into the office and hauls izuku out by his injured arm

and tenya and shouto just feel sick

"should, should we tell all might? about how his secretary treats midoriya?"

shouto just glares at the half-open door, quiet apologies drifting down the hall until they turn another corner

"i'm quite sure that man already knows."

College Tips

College is a rough transition for many students. It is the first time you are on your own, responsible for yourself, and no one is nursing you through the day. I have a couple tips that might help you even if you aren’t struggling. So here are my tips on how to struggle less with college. 

1. Go to office hours

GO TO OFFICE HOURS! I recommend figuring out in the first week or two which teachers you like then going to office hours even for a few minutes by week three. You want your teachers to know your face and here’s why. You are more than a sloppy email begging for an extension on your paper if they have spoken to you. They appreciate your effort and are more willing to help you. They may have connections that will help you in your future. Having a teacher as a reference looks good and many teachers are great candidates for recommendation letters later on. When you feel stuck about your future they are amazing for support. More wise than your friends advice, less strict than your parents advice, and full of helpful options and resources. I promise you will not regret it. Many of my teachers have become friends and have helped me in one way or another with my future. Not to mention, they are excited to have students come into their office hours, even to just ask questions about topics unrelated to class. Most teachers want to help you all you have to do is just talk to them. I could go on. Just go. 

1A. Build a relationship with at least two of your teachers

Basically everything I just said. Going back to talk to the ones you connect with about classes and life will put you in a great position when you move into your later undergrad and your life after college. I needed recommendation letters for my internship applications. I easily found two teachers I have personally connected with to write them. They didn’t give me a cookie cutter copy with my name on it either because they knew me. I go the internship I wanted at Beaumont hospital, by the way. You will not regret getting to know at least two of your teachers in your four years, I swear by it. Those are references and guides for life. 

2. Whether it be a planner or a color coded calendar, get organized. 

I have a dry erase board on my wall with exams, work, meetings, assignments, etc. all color coded. This board makes me feel prepared to take on every day, and there are no assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. that take me by surprise. I tried a planner, not a fan. I recommend giving either of these options a shot though. Keeping your tasks organized will help you stay on track and use your time efficiently, just figure out which methods work best for you.

3. Stick to your study habits that work but also adapt.

I did not realize until my junior year that highlighting my notes helps me tremendously when I study. Three years... Geez. Pay attention to what does work or you and keep to it. It’ll help you figure out how to study. However, you will run into classes that you study for your normal way and it doesn’t work out. This is where you go to office hours and look at your exam, go in before an exam for pointers, ask questions, etc. Looking back at the questions you got wrong will help you know what to look for on the next one. Maybe you’ll even get some points back (I’ve seen it happen), who knows. 

4. Get involved in some way 

Volunteer, sports, clubs, academic fraternities, local organizations. Whichever way you do it, get involved. I was a soccer player my whole life, and I regret not joining the club team at my college everyday. It goes back to that comfort thing; step out of it! Whether it is something you have enjoyed or something new you want to try, now is the time. This is where you find yourself. 

5. Shadow, get excited

One thing I haven’t done enough of is shadow. However, in the summer to come I’ll be doing a bunch, so don’t think I am a hypocrite. Shadowing a job you are interested in makes the idea real. We have been in school so long that we get stuck in the motion of being a student and not remembering where we’re headed. Shadowing helps you figure out what you want to do, yeah, but I think it is important so you can get a picture of your future that gets you more excited/eager to learn. Which is especially helpful if you are struggling to give yourself a reason to go to class come midway of the semester.

6. For the love of God go to class

GO TO CLASS. ESPECIALLY AS A FRESHMAN. I get you can skip two weeks of high school like it’s nothing but college is not the same. You have to learn how to adjust to college BEFORE skipping all of your classes.You will get behind. You will miss assignments. Your teachers will not work with you because they are aware you are not trying and always skip class. Just showing up for class will often make the difference when you want to get some extra credit or turn in an assignment late. Do I skip? Yes, but rarely. Could my grades have been better had I not skipped as a freshman? Absolutely.

7. Learn to love the library

I was always the, “I can only do homework with sound in the background, I can do homework in bed where I’m comfortable” girl. However, I have done WAY better work getting into my focused zone at the library. Everything takes about half the time to complete, and those hours can be used on the gym, getting drinks, sleeping. Find a nice comfortable area at a library or common area, focus, and give it a genuine shot (a couple times). I think you will be surprised how much faster you’ll get things done.

8. Do something by yourself. 

It is easy to stick with friends you know but there is so much to be gained from experiencing something away rom the people most like you. Gain new perspectives and get comfortable with being uncomfortable, because as you move through college, you will benefit from being able to put yourself out there, and at times you will have to put yourself out there. Your friends are a security blanket just like your phone is. You will become more aware of who you are and what you like when you do not have your friends or phone around to comfort or influence you.

9. Enjoy your campus while you have it

Go outside. Go to the bar. Go to the mom and pop breakfast places. See the ins and outs of the town. College goes by faster than you can imagine, and to get the most out of it you need to open yourself to what the town has to offer. I did not explore these places nearly enough my first two years and I for sure regret it. Try everything you can a couple times! 

10. HAVE FUN

Simple as that. Do well in class and focus, but these are going to be some of the best years of your life. Don’t drown yourself in stress.

Montana converts a third and 4 on a scramble. Picks up 10. He's out-Elwaying Elway.

Madden references the Red Zone for what I think is the first time in any Super Bowl.

Incomplete pass on third down. David Treadwell on for a field goal. Has missed 6 of his last 7 from 40+ yards - this one is from 42 yards. Perfect. 7-3 49ers with 6:47 left in the quarter.

Niners go three and out. Barry Helton will boot it to Vance Johnson.

Channel 4 feature during the commercial break refers to the Super Bowl as a jamboree.

Luckhurst, Payton, and Don Shula in the Channel 4 booth. Payton says the two starting running backs have played well, Shula talks about Elway being off his game.

Broncos take possession at their own 48 and the echo is (thankfully) gone.

First play of the Denver drive, Humphrey fumbles on a run up the middle, recovered by San Francisco's Chet Brooks. Madden says Humphrey has extra rib protection, which could make him more likely to fumble.

A big Rathman run on first down is called back on a holding penalty, so Montana just throws to Rice for 20 yards. Madden says Rice might be one of the greatest receivers of all time. Yes, and water might be wet. Rice and Hutson are 1A and 1B, and everybody else is light years behind them.

Third and 2, another counter play left to Craig. Just short of the sticks. Fourth and inches. They'll go for it. Good call by Seifert.

Rathman bursts through the line, gets the first down, and clearly fumbles the ball. Denver recovers. The officials say he was down. This at first seems a terrible, horrible, awful call, but looking at the replay, I think they got it right. Rathman got hit, fell forward a couple yards, and the ball popped out when he hit the ground.

Third and 10, Montana to Rice across the middle for 21. Niners have it first and goal from the 9.

Replay: Karl Mecklenburg gets leg-whipped in the knee by an offensive lineman (Bruce Collie?). He's injured on the play. Doesn't look like a horrible injury, but he leaves the game.

As time is running out in the quarter, Montana with an easy throw to Brent Jones for the score. Extra point is missed, wide right. 13-3 San Francisco.

Denver coach Dan Reeves wants to talk to the referee, presumably about the leg whip.

SECOND QUARTER

Bronco drive: Incomplete, incomplete, screen pass for seven yards, punt.

Shula: Denver defense has to assert itself, have to get a turnover. Only way they get into the game is if Elway improves.

Mecklenburg is back - that leg whip didn't hurt him all that badly.

Madden: At the front of Rathman and Craig's helmets, it says "Huskers". Both went to Nebraska.

Niners driving again. Pass to Rathman, a couple of runs to Craig. They're at the Broncos 35.

Second down, Montana takes a deep drop, looks, looks, looks, checks it down to Tom Rathman for a first down. Madden says (quite correctly, IMO) that if Denver can't get a better pass rush, San Francisco is going to set passing records today.

49ers in the postseason have outsccored opponents 41-0 this season.

Niners get yet another first down when Craig runs for three on third and 2.

Madden: Craig plays quick, hard, fast, and with a big smile on his face. Loves playing football.

Madden: You can't just stop one guy and beat San Francisco because they have so many weapons. Coincidentally, as he says this, CBS is showing a shot of Steve Young standing next to coach George Seifert.

Third and 10 from the 13, Montana checks down to Rathman again, gets to the 3 for another first down. Well, no, actually he's inches short. The offense stays on the field. Seifert gets it right again.

Fourth down play, Rathman up the middle. Gets the first down. First and goal. 8:00 and counting left in the half.

First down, Craig runs right, gets to about the one inch line. Second down, Rathman blasts his way into the end zone. 20-3 San Francisco, mid-second quarter.

Luckhurst: I'm not sure anyone can stop the 49ers right now. They've added Rathman, Taylor, and Jones to last year's offense.

Madden 13 of 14 plays on last drive were to Craig and Rathman.

Shula: When San Francisco has the ball on third down, they're converting. When Denver has it on third down, they don't convert and wind up punting.

Second and 13, Denver runs up the middle and gets stuffed, fans begin to boo a little. An incomplete pass on third and 11, hits Mark Jackson in the hands. Should have been caught, but it was thrown extremely hard. Broncos punt after another three and out. 5:27 left in the half, 20-3 Niners.

Shula: Niners good on both sides of the ball, special teams are excellent, they have perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time, surrounded by great skill position players. Somewhere, Dan Marino is all like, "Yo, coach, what about me?"

Madden: Denver DBs are getting fired up a bit late. Joe Montana has done surgery on them throughout the first half.

Broncos slowly moving down the field. They get to their own 34 as the two minute warning hits.

Elway: 5-14, 52 yards. Montana: 12-18, 138 yards, 2 TD

Madden: Elway's pass to Johnson right before the two minute warning was his first completion to a wide receiver all day.

Madden: Elway hasn't gotten started yet.

Back-to-back incompletions after the two minute warning. Elway is now 5-16 and Mike Horan is back on to kick it away. Nice return from John Taylor out to the San Francisco 41. Harry Sydney absolutely lit up a Bronco on a completely legal and clean but vicious hit.

Summerall: Montana has a new bandage on his right elbow.

1:05 left, Montana scrambles to midfield.

Montana to Wesley Walls, down to the Denver 40. 40 seconds left in the half.

Summerall: Halftime show will feature Peanuts. Madden: "Can't beat a good Peanuts show."

You also can't beat Jerry Rice. He goes deep down the middle and Montana hits him in stride as he gets to the end zone. Great throw, great catch. Extra point is good and it's 27-3.

Replay shows the corners had short coverage in a zone, the safeties were playing very deep in two-deep coverage, and there was a huge uncovered area in the middle of the field. Madden says the Niners were confident they could shred this coverage if they saw it.

Madden: "Well, you know, they're down 27-3 but they haven't even gotten started yet. I would think it's the type of thing that you just, on offense, we have to get something started. We haven't...John Elway hasn't gotten out of the pregame warmup yet. The receivers aren't getting open."

Elway goes deep, looking for Mark Jackson. Jackson had Eric Wright beaten, but it was an underthrown pass, nearly picked off. Elway is now 5-17.

Channel 4 Super Bowl flashback: "It doesn't seem to matter who the Minnesota Vikings play in the Super Bowl, they always lose." Buffalo: Hold my beer and watch this.

THIRD QUARTER

Niners receive kickoff. David Treadwell to boot it away. I had forgotten who Denver's kicker was, he's had so little to do.

Madden: You're always thinking about the problems the team that's trailing has, but the team that's winning has problems too. Offensive linemen want to play fullback, change positions, backups want to get in. You can forget that you have to play the second half like you played the first half.

Madden: The Niners list Bubba Paris at 299 pounds. He's closer to 399 than 299. Bubba will get mad at me for saying that. Summerall: Bubba said to make sure you say 299 so his mother can hear it.

Niners go three and out, will punt on fourth and short.

Elway's first pass: Intercepted by Michael Walter. Niners take over at the Denver 28.

Madden: "Whatever they talked about at halftime, I'm sure that wasn't it."

First play of the drive, Rice with another deep post pattern and Montana with another absolutely perfect throw. Same pattern, same defense, same result. 34-3 San Francisco. 12:48 left in the third quarter.
