The end of the game really is just Elle and Julius both asking Ludger to directly or indirectly allow their deaths for his sake because they both believe they can contribute more in death than if they live, and that Ludger will ultimately be happier with someone else anyway

#v #x2 #in fairness. there is also the whole ‘saving the world’ thing but i still think ludger cares more about his personal attachments #i already knew that i just forgot that its as early as ch14 #i always kind of think of when theyve already reached canaan but thats not true. its earlier #elle asks ludger not to come after her #jude and milla are both like. of course she doesnt really mean that #i dont like framing it this way i think ludger loved them both very dearly #but ch15 really is decided based on who ludger is willing to defy #i can see him justifying himself as ‘elle wanted me to live. so im living the life i want’ even if that life isnt going to last very long #whereas the ludger and elle endings are both. i did what julius wanted. (but we know it wasnt really what he wanted.)#and the ludger ending is just. julius and elle both wanted him to live. but for what.#im sad and ive only been awake for an hour.
