vent. sorry.
okay yeah yeah awesome got chewed out by my father for all the cleaning products "scattered all over the house"
the cleaning products my mother keeps buying when they're on sale but doesn't have any adequate space for. so I have to park them wherever they fit whenever I put away the shopping.
my cleaning products are all gathered in one spot and don't take up much space.
but still. I get chewed out for it. cool cool cool cool. this is almost worse than getting chewed out by my boss at work lol
#makes me wanna bunker all my stuff in my room so i don't bother my parents with evidence of my existence around their house#i already gathered all my food items and put them in a designated cupboard so they don't clutter up my parents' kitchen#but i guess i gotta expand that sentiment to the rest of my belongings. cool cool cool good to know#maybe i really need to become a minimalist. get rid of all my things beyond the necessities. so everything can fit into my room#so i don't bother anyone with my stuff.#THIS HOUSE IS NOT MY HOME HAHAHAHAHA#this house has never really been my home#vent#anyway#no time to lose my mind. got work tomorrow

A Date, Then? - Steven Grant
Steven + Cup of tea + Holding hands + Reading
Fall Fluff Masterlist | Steven Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Notes: GN!reader celebrates Thanksgiving, tw food (but it's not a Thanksgiving day fic). Reader is SMITTEN
Word Count: 1k || for @vintagegirl01's request Steven Grant x reader enjoying a cup of tea and holding hands as they read together (Kinda like how Carl and Ellie from Up did in the Married Life Montage where they are in their designated seat reading their own book and holding hands). (I'm not posting your actual ask message yet bc I want to keep the Marc part in my inbox bc I love it & want to revisit it)
"Knock, knock," Steven sing-songs after you've clearly already opened the door. "Hiya."
"Steven, come in," you warmly greet your neighbor, noticing the stack of books tucked haphazardly under his arm. "You can set those anywhere."
"Right, thanks." He nods to your apron. "Cooking something?"
"Mm-hmm, turkey and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving."
"Right, sorry. Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow, innit? Sorry to disturb you." His cheeks flush as he grants you an apologetic wave.
"No, you're fine. I wanted to host a Friendsgiving or maybe a Neighbors-giving? But I only know you so far," you explain, leading him toward the kitchen. "Maybe next year, after I've met more people. I thought maybe you would like some leftovers, if nothing else."
You go on to explain that, aside from turkey, you're making yams with vegan marshmallows on top and using non-dairy items and vegan butter in the stuffing. You're also working on some green beans, cranberries, and of course, rolls.
"You have to work tomorrow, right?"
"Off at 5:30."
"Would you..." you bounce on your toes apprehensively, your tummy flip-flopping. "Would you like to come over for dinner? I understand if the turkey's a dealbreaker, no worries."
"Could I?" He breathlessly returns. "That would be so lovely, actually."
"Perfect," you beam at him, realizing you should have just asked him in the first place.
"So I guess I'll let you carry on," Steven says, stuffing his hands into his pockets and shifting from foot to foot. He nods toward the stack of books he's returning to you. "Loved those. Thanks for the recommendations."
"You already finished them?" You gasp disbelievingly.
"Had some time on my hands."
"Do you have to go? You seem kind of in a hurry."
Steven pauses, confused. "I thought you were cooking."
"No, I was just doing some prep work. We're supposed to read tonight, right?"
"Right." His shoulders relax. "Unless you need help cooking?"
You assure Steven it's all right, putting on the kettle in the process. "Which tea? Blueberry black, white tropical or cinnamon plum?"
"Blueberry black," he decides, reaching with familiarity into the cupboard to retrieve his favorite cup and yours, along with saucers. You gather the spoons, sugar, non-dairy milk and honey.
"You're sure I'm not keeping you?" He politely asks one more time.
You stop in front of him, setting your tray aside. "Steven, it's Wednesday. Eight o'clock. Book time." You smile at him sweetly. "Highlight of my week."
Steven's dark eyes shine with hope and intrigue. "Yeah?"
"Yes. I love our reading dates."
Inching closer, his hands fidget, gaze flickering away from yours before he clears his throat. "So...a date, then?"
"I don't know." You ease toward him, wishing one of you knew how to make an actual move. "Is it?"
The kettle's whistle grants you the reprieve neither of you were actually seeking.
Finally, you settle into to cozy chairs in your living area. Sometimes you read together at Steven's Library - your affectionate nickname for his flat. But typically, your place is more organized and calm. That, and Steven loves your oversized twin chairs.
Since he picked the tea, you would pick the music. Then you grab your current books and settle in. You cozy up with your dark purple cable knit blanket, draped over the back of your chair. Steven tucks his "reading pillow" close to his chest - a mushroom shaped pillow he finds particularly amusing and very you.
Then comes the best part - the most distracting, delicious part of reading date night: when Steven reaches for his glasses. It's a procedure you have memorized. First, he tosses his curls away from where they fall over his eyes. Then he puts them on, biting his bottom lip, before stealing a glance at you.
Busted. Every time.
Your cheeks heat as your eyes dart back to the book you haven't really started reading. Steven opens his book, clears his throat, shifts in his seat and you glance over every time his finger reaches to turn the page. You notice every twitch of his jaw, every time his corded neck bobs when he swallows, every curl that tumbles across his forehead.
It suddenly occurs to you that not only do you have a crush on your neighbor, you're actually quite smitten.
"You alright, love?" His eyes meet yours before he nods down to your book. "Don't think you've read a thing."
"Oh...could you read out loud?" You quickly recover, closing your book and shrugging helplessly. "Must be going cross-eyed from reading those recipes."
"'Course I can." He beams. Steven likes to read to you, and you find the sound of his voice equally thrilling and calming.
Scooting his chair closer to you, he sets aside the mushroom pillow and moves his book into a good position for you both to see. Then he proceeds to make his non-fiction historical perspective sound like a Grimm's fairy tale.
You reach for your tea, realizing you should have brewed something herbal and calming because your heart flutters every time his arm brushes yours when he turns the page. The cadence of his voice lulls you under a spell somehow.
Placing your tea back down, you resist the urge to lay your head on his shoulder or something equally embarrassing, but you want to somehow be closer to him, so you reach for the page next time he needs to turn it.
"I'll help," you whisper as your hands clumsily brush.
Steven almost drops the book, but quickly recovers, covering your hand with his own. "This alright?" Warm brown eyes lock onto yours.
You quickly nod, fighting your nervousness and squeezing his hand to let him know how badly you want this.
Eyes still fixed on yours, he pulls your joined hands to his chest, smiling at you adoringly. He raises the book to continue reading as you bring your opposite hand up to help him hold it in place.
Eventually your head does make its way down onto his shoulder.
You don't know what to say and maybe he doesn't either. But he's holding your hand and you're thankful for that.

Chapter 1
Remus wanders around in silence, his makeshift morningstar slung over his shoulder, the nails digging into his shoulder. The world is too loud today, the clamour around him rising into a crescendo that grates against his ears. Maybe he could find something to steal or someone to fight so that everything would just shut up for one fucking second. Well, at least Remus lost his pursuers from the mindless fight he was just in. That was a good enough distaction. The only thing for Remus to do in the still air was talk to himself.
“You smash your morningstar in one person’s face and now the whole group is after you. Sounds petty in my opinion.”
Or well, makeshift morningstar and less like an iron mace-like weapon that it normally would be. It was more a block of wood stuck to the end of an iron pipe with a shit ton of nails pounded into the wood. A rustling sound whistled through the air, a flash of gold briefly spotted in the corner of Remus’s eye.
“From my perspective it sounds like you’re being the petty one.”
Turning around, Remus’ eyes land on a figure nestled in the shadows, another teenager by the sound of his voice. The darkness hides everything except for a distinctive glittering golden eye.
“Hi Dee~ How ya doing?”
‘Dee’, or Janus “Deceit” of Agrabah was the trader on the Isle, usually coming along with a trinket or item stolen from someone else’s pockets. A thing for another thing, a favor for Remus to fulfill later down the line in exchange for something shiny, but useless. That’s usually how these trades went.
“Alright, managed to nab a few things that might catch your eye. A favor would be nice, I’m planning on robbing this one guy and might want your help,” Dee pauses, mulling over his next words.“I just came to tell you about Maleficent's goons. Seems they’re looking for you.” He almost sounds worried. Mom huh, well at least let’s just hope it’s not because I did something stupid. Again.
“Ugh can’t Mother do her own dirty work for once?” Remus grumbles, turning around to find Dee gone. “Fine, I'll just get the stuff later then. Sneaky noodle always fades into the shadows thinking he’s cool and edgy.”
A faint hiss of air draws Remus’s attention to a small alleyway to his right, a perfect alleyway for hiding a body. He does remember a similar alleyway that one time that he hid a corpse, he doesn’t really like or want to think about that stuff.
Turning the corner he finds Virgil de Vil, the resident “artist” and the only one on the Island to wear all black, spraying something on the wall. The jacket was new though, the purple sleeves being a lovely addition along with the skull design on Virgil’s mask.
“Huh, well if it isn’t Virgie,” Remus drawls, moving forward to sling his arm around Virgie’s shoulders.
“First of all, it’s Virgil, not Virgie.”
Remus raises an eyebrow. “Uh huh.”
“Second of all” Virgil turns to look at Remus “I'm currently working on something. What do you think, some purple or red?”
Remus glances at the spray paint on the wall, moving away from his previous position. The artwork forming a purple stormcloud on a green background. “Lilac-blue, makes the green pop out more.”
“Hm.” A quick nod of reassurance from Virgil and Remus moves next to him, plopping onto the dingy ground of the space. A thin silence hangs in the air only interrupted by the sound of Virgil’s spray cans.
“Have you ever thought about getting off this dump?” Remus doesn’t know why he said it in the first place, the question already forming before he can stop himself.
“Out of this cage? Sorry, but we’re always gonna be locked away with the “villians” in this fucked up world.”
“Of course,” Remus sighs, because this place was a death sentence in and of itself. “Forget it.” Nobody was coming to save the rejects of the world. That feeling was back, buzzing underneath his skin. So Remus did the only thing he could think of, he acted on impulse, quickly grabbing Virgil’s hand and running off with him in tow.
“Remus, no!” It was too late for Virgil to protest though.
“Remus yes.”
Whatever chaos that Remus wanted to create was quickly stopped as both of their bodies collided into an unmoving wall, black suits and sunglasses filling the frame of his vision. The only ones who dressed like here were his mom’s goons because they needed to be “presentable”. Her words not his.
“Maleficent wants to see you,” Goon #1 rumbles.
He hates these stupid lackeys. Mom sends them because she couldn’t care enough about her own kid to meet in person. Instead, it made him feel like he was twelve again, like a kid who was always getting in trouble for being too ‘much’. He can’t really protest though as Goon #1 grabs both him and Virgil.
He passes by beggars and kids with ratty clothes, crammed like sardines on this floating rock. Briefly, he passes by a mom pulling her kid with a makeshift cart and a scrawny teenager his age skimming through the crowd, most likely a pickpocket. After all, there’s no guarantee that your business will get food on the table. Remus remembers the first time that he got pickpocketed, broke the kid’s fingers for even trying. The regret came later, when the drone of bitterness and apathy left his system.
Remus watches as his “home” comes into view. It was supposed to be a fortress but it resembled a cardboard castle more than anything, ready to topple over at the slightest breeze. A building to play pretend in, Remus thinks bitterly so that everything would be ‘just like it was before’. He’s heard enough about “the glory days” from his mom to get an idea. Pushed through the entrance, Remus stares at his mom standing at the front of the room.
Looking around, Dee and the island's resident “heartbreaker” Remy, were also there with their own personal “goons” hovering over their shoulders. Remy’s sunglasses and plain leather jacket were kept clean enough as if he actually cared about his appearance. He is the kid on the Island most known from the stories gathered from his various flings. Nobody said anything at first, instead dissolving into a tense silence broken by his mom.
“Janus, Remy, Virgil and you will be going to Auradon.” Maleficent announced to the room, her gaze lingering on Remus as if to say Don’t mess this up.
“I’m sorry but, what?” Virgil splutters.
Remus looks around the room to the rest of the three kids as if to ask she’s not joking right? briefly locking eyes with a panicking Virgil.
Janus spoke up, his panicked eyes looking everywhere except for the people in the room.“I’m gonna have to agree with Virgil on this one, why the hell are we going over to those stuck-up pricks?”
“Well the Prince has made a new decree, the soft-hearted fool. You four will be attending Auridon Prep,” Her tone was detached, leaving no room for negotiations or arguement. It was Remy to first act on his impulses, blurting out the first thing that came to his mind.
“Oh, fuck no. I’m not going to be surrounded by assholes more than I need to be, ” Remy said, arms crossed and glancing off to the side.
“This is an opportunity for you. You will sneak straight into those royal’s hearts and steal Fairy Godmother’s wand in the process using, of course, the generous gifts bestowed upon you by your parents that will hopefully not go to waste. Then you’ll release the barrier and evil will spread along the land, a perfect place for us to rule.”
Remus ignores that hopeful twist in his stomach that maybe, this will prove something to her. That maybe he can be a good enough son for her.
“You don’t have much of a choice. Especially considering that your ride is going to be here soon,” the Evil Queen snapped at Remy. Quickly rifling through her pockets, she quickly took out a small mirror “Now, here is my magic mirror.” Remy stares at the small glass hand mirror in her hand, “It’s not what it used to be sadly, but it should be useful,” Remy takes the small mirror in his hands and tucks it into the pockets of his leather jacket.
“And please, get some sleep while you’re at it. Those eyebags of yours are making you uglier than you already are.”
“Yes Mother,” Remy muttered.
“Now let me see,” Mom mutters to herself, rifling through what appears to be an old cupboard as she fishes out a tattered old book, worn down from use. Turning over to Remus, she holds out the book.
“Here. This is my spellbook.” Remus gingerly picks up the spellbook from her hand.
As Remus is leaving he hears snippets of conversation from the other kid’s parents and their farewells.
“Remember Janus, lying is always the best solution” Jafar quickly tells Janus
“And always look out for yourself” Janus echoes back tonelessly, as if it were a mantra he’s heard a dozen times before.
“I’ll miss you Virgil.” Cruella puts a hand to her heart with a pout
“Really?” Virgil looks almost hopeful in those small minutes, a shine of maybe a little bit of softness in his expression
“Who else will take care of my beautiful coats.” Cruella doesn’t notice how Virgil deflates at her last sentence
“Right” Virgil scoffs to himself, his expression closing off like a set of iron gates slammed shut in front of his eyes.
Mom sharply turns to the rest of the VK’s in front of her.
“Now move along, there’s a wand to steal.”
The rest of the teenagers were shuffled out of the room to their “ride” sitting outside the fortress. A sleek black vehicle sits outside, gleaming under the sun and unbelievingly long. Maleficent clutches Remus’s arm as he’s leaving, her fingernails leaving indents in his skin.
”You better not mess this up.” Mom says through gritted teeth.
Looking at the limousine, Remus steps forward. I can make mom proud of me Remus thinks, an opportunity of a lifetime. It doesn’t stop the dread forming in his stomach.

Marie Kondo & Minimalism
Pic : Pinterest
We have lost the art of simple living. We have too many material possessions, too many choices and too much to eat, that we waste and destroy so much. Minimalism is not about living in poverty and sleeping on the floor of an empty room, it’s about possessing little or just necessities and simple decorations that is enough to make your home clean and comfortable.
For many of us, material wealth is an expression of selfhood, proof of our existence or success to show to the world that we’ve made it. So we tend to associate our identities and self-image with the things we possess, the car we drive, the job we have, the house we live in, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the phone we use, the degree certificate we take and so much more.
How often do we asked ourselves, do we buy things because we really need or love them or because you think it might impress others who will see them? Do we post social gathering photos on social media to show our appreciation of our friendship or to show others what kind of friends we have and to portray the type of person we are? Do we buy a particular car model because it’s economical, practical or pleasing to the eyes? Or do we buy them to show others that we could afford such a brand?
In the end, we became unhappy with our own excessive and repulsive purchases because we buy them not for ourselves but for others, or buy them simply because we were too stressed at the time that we went on a shopping therapy. And you start asking yourself all this now as you get older, when your list of bills start to get longer and your store starts to get crowded with items you don’t even remember why you bought it or when was the last time you actually used it.
It’s no wonder we get so stressed easily working at home now during the pandemic and no wonder minimalist guru such as Marie Kondo have been gaining popularity, because people not only need help in sorting out their stuffs but sorting out their cluttered heart and life as well, to achieve the inner peace with just the minimum.
Source : The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story
We all know who she is by now and one thing I do not understand is the hate she’s been getting since she became known to the world. Interesting fact about her is that her videos have already been circulating YouTube about five years ago but she only became famous now after her shows came on Netflix.
From what I understand from these haters or skeptics is that they have a misconception about her, thinking it’s just a tidying up method that anybody can do or has been doing for ages, so they do not see the logic that people need to read her books and watch her shows to know how to clean up your own house.
What they fail to understand is that it’s more than just cleaning up your room, it’s about recognizing your attachments to your belongings and identifying yourself. It’s not just about cluttering up your cupboards but your life as well. Not letting objects define your self worth. You do not need things that you do not need, just to impress others on social media for likes or make yourself feel better.
When you dig out your stuffs, you can tell which are the ones that you bought simply because you really want it, because you like the color or design or its comfortable or it makes you look great? And the ones that you bought simply because of the brand or trend because you want to show off to others to give them an impression that you are this or that kind of person? This is what she’s trying to imply, separating things that you really love “spark joy” and those that you don’t even remember or know why you bought it in the first place now that you look at it again. It could be you bought it ten years ago when you were younger because you wanted to make a fashion statement but now you’re more mature and realize what a waste of money that was.
Unfortunately, we live in a capitalist world that is constantly shoving consumerism down our throats daily with advertisements and social influencers telling you to get this and that just so you could be in trend with everyone else and do not want to be left out. And when you can’t afford to get those things like everyone else you become unhappy, depressed and angry.
You wanted to dress like them, you wanted to look like them, you wanted to live in a big house like them, you wanted to drive a branded car like them, you wanted to have the perfect lover like them, you want everything about them from their lifestyle to their personality that you lost yourself and your identity of who you really are as a person and what really makes you happy. Despite all the things that you already have that you need, you’re still unhappy because you’re obsessed in getting things that you want simply because others have it too! So we put in extra hours at work for that extra cash sacrificing things that really matter such as spending time with friends and family. We lost the human connection to objects that’s supposed to make us feel happy.
She also stress out about the dangers of nostalgia because if you are too entrenched in the past, you’ll never be able to get rid of the old things and you’ll only accumulate more stuffs that you don’t need. You’ll feel more constrained and stressed out living in a “storeroom” you call home. Most importantly, you won’t be able to move on in the present because you’re still living in the past.
I have only started learning more about her recently as I have never been the sort that gets on stuffs while its trending and the only reason I start to learn more about her now is purely out of curiosity and interest as I believe there is more to her than meets the eye. I find her “anti-consumerism” refreshing because I think extreme consumerism is what making people very unhappy today.
Also because I believe that no matter how many years of experiences that we have or all the knowledge that we acquired thus far, no matter how smart we think we are, there is always something new that we do not know about. Life is a continuous learning process, it’s all about learning, discovering new things and taking a step back to re-look at things from a different perspective.
Learning doesn’t stop, which is why I find it amusing when the haters, critics and skeptics say they don’t need to know about Konmari when they’ve been cleaning up their entire life. To me that’s like saying, “This has always been the way we do things around here, we don’t need improvisation or innovation, thank you.”
Be it as it may, what I’m trying to say here is to just be respectful to others and their beliefs no matter how weird or ridiculous that may seem to you. If you think it’s not something meant for you or interests you then by all means, you’re free to walk away from this. No one’s forcing you to stay put.
I just don’t get why they choose to stay and make fun of something they do not understand that works for the fans.
At the end of the day, it is who you are as a person that defines you. Not your material possessions, not your career credentials, not your academic qualifications. Strip them all away, and ask yourself who you are beneath it all?
I end my thoughts with a quote by Sen no Rikyu, a historical figure considered to have had the most profound influence on the Japanese tea ceremony.
“How much does he lack himself who must have many things.”

"Where are we going again?"
"We’re going to Agnes and Metz’s house remember?"
"Come on girls," Jack voice echoed through the silent house," It’ll take some time to get to their house "Ryuichi did you change yet?"
"Not yet Dad," Ryuichi said back and went straight upstairs. She shuffled through her closet and found a pair of faded blue jeans and a lavender shirt, which said, 'Save a horse, ride a cowboy.' Lucy rushed upstairs after Ryuichi.
"Ryu have you seen my flip-flops?" Lucy asked as she searched the upstairs. She was wearing a light purple kiddy shirt with Dora the explorer and Boots the monkey on it and a jean miniskirt.
"Are you gonna wear that?" Ryuichi asked incredulously, Lucy never wore skirts like that.
"Yeah, Lindsey's mom gave it to me, it was too small for her niece." She replied while digging through her stuff.
"Aha!" She shouted triumphantly and ran past Ryuichi down the steps.
"She's so weird." Ryuichi muttered under her breath and smiled.
"Alright girls, it's time to go," Elizabeth said while waiting at the front door.
"Hold on mom, I can't find my shoes," Ryuichi replied looking around her room and ran down the stairs with her sandals in hand. They had all their luggage in the car and left just enough space to sit.
"Dude..." Lucy suddenly said as they started to leave the city limits.
"What?" Ryuichi put her book down for a second to look at her cousin.
"We should totally flash or moon!" She said excitedly.
"Uh no thanks." Ryuichi replied and gave her a weird look.
"Not today girls. You need to behave Lucy, or your father will take you with us." Jack called from the front seat.
"Ah man..." Lucy grumbled and pulled out her gameboy.
"You’re so funny Luce." Elizabeth laughed and tossed them some water.
"Hey wanna play in the sprinkler later?" Lucy asked Ryuichi nonchalantly.
"Maybe..." she mumbled and started reading her book again.
"Oh hey! Can we have some friends over if Uncle Metz and Aunt Agnes say it’s okay?" Lucy asked you could say she was excited easily.
"Sure girls but keep it at most PG-13 okay?" Elizabeth replied before Jack could add his two cents.
"Yippee!" Lucy shouted jubilantly and Ryuichi laughed.
Jack and Elizabeth having a conversation, music from the radio, noises from Lucy’s GameBoy and Ryuichi turning the pages of her book were the only noises coming from the car. Everybody was silently hoping they would arrive soon. "We're here!" Jack called and rolled down the window to smell the fresh air. They pulled into a gravel driveway that led to a large white home surrounded by a small field and lots of trees. A few feet away from the house there was a two-car garage with a room above where the cars were parked. They had horses and a nice house even a pool and an old jungle gym. It brought back good memories for everyone in the car; they had all visited this ranch at one time or another.
"Yes it's great." Lucy replied; she looked very calm. Ryuichi sighed and breathed in the refreshing air.
"Well I thought I heard familiar voices," Agnes replied opening the screen door," Metz, the children are here!!"
"What children?? We never had any kids!"
"We did too have a kid... she was adopted because I couldn't have kids remember?"
"Yes dear I’m only pulling your leg."
"Come give your old uncle a hug girls." Metz called from the porch a cheery smile on his face.
"Metz!" They yelled and ran to the porch and hugged the old man.
"It's nice to see you girls, but we only have an hour to talk before we have to leave..."
"That's okay, I wanna tell you what happened at school!" Lucy chirped and pulled him onto the wicker bench with her.
"Me and Ryu got into a fight this year with some snobby girls!" she informed, he only smile and shook his head. Uncle Metz was always the wild one growing up and he enjoyed hearing that his great niece was keeping the tradition alive and bringing her cousin into it.
"I'm sure you didn't start it right?" he winked.
"No actually, this girl did and then her friend tried to double team Ryu!"
"Really? Gave hell did you girls?" he looked to Ryuichi who blushed a little embarrassed.
"Yeah I guess you could say that..."
The conversation carried on to politics and other monotonous things until the hour had passed.
"Well it was nice to see you girls." Agnes said as Ryuichi and Lucy helped her clean.
"It's so nice of you girls to watch the house while we go to Vegas." Lucy and Ryuichi's great aunt Agnes said she was a small older woman with greying red hair.
"Now you girls behave while we're gone and feed Geoffrey." Great uncle Metz added, he was their grandfather’s twin he had the same white hair and glasses too.
"Uncle Metz, can we have some friends over please... we'll be good!" Lucy pleaded to him as she loaded the elderly couple’s suitcases into the car.
"Sure, why not just make sure you clean up the place and remember Geoffrey." He smiled and tugged her cheek.
"Who could forget that horrible old parrot?" Ryuichi mumbled under her breath as she hugged each of them.
"Oh sweetie have fun and be nice to Geoffrey." Agnes whispered into her ear and gave her a very grandmother-like kiss on the cheek.
"Whelp we better go, see ya kids we love you, and be safe." Metz finally said as he got into the car, they drove off leaving a cloud of dust in the gravel driveway.
"He reminds me of Gramps..." Lucy smiled as she waved; Ryuichi shook her head 'yes' and waved with her.
"Alright let's get this house in party shape!" Lucy yelled and ran towards the house.
"Wait for me!" Ryuichi yelled and gave chase. They ran through the screen door into the kitchen and tripped over Geoffrey's cage causing him to squawk
"Damn bird..." Ryuichi hissed as she climbed off Lucy who was laughing hysterically,” weirdo..." she mumbled and walked back into the kitchen to get the snacks.
“Are you calling everyone or am I?” Lucy asked looking through the cupboards.
"You are," Ryuichi said while handing her the cell phone.
"When did you get a cell phone?"
"I got it for Christmas. I brought it with me in case we needed it," Ryuichi replied," Everyone’s number is in there except for Jamie and Lindsey’s. I’m not calling them, you can.”
"Wanker..." Lucy grumbled and took the phone. While Lucy was calling everyone else, Ryuichi decided to explore the house. Everyone room had a familiar smell to it and each room was unique in design. ‘Agnes was a interior decorator before she retired these rooms still look great.’ After her escapade of the house, she walked near the front of the house and went back onto the porch. She looked out to multitude of farmland that they had and then sat down on the porch swing.
"Alright," Lucy said opening the screen door and walking onto the porch," Everyone should be here in an hour or a time close to that Lindsey said he’d pick people up and Jamie is doing the same."
"That's cool..." Ryuichi replied from where she sat just staring and remembering. She used to sit with her grandfather on this swing, him and Uncle Metz would tell stories about their youth and albums of pictures where the two were dressed alike. She and Lucy could always tell them apart, Lucy was closer to Metz and Ryuichi to their grandfather... though it didn't often seem like it.
"Being here brings back so much." Lucy sighed and sat beside her. Her favorite pastime was sitting on this swing drinking homemade lemonade, Agnes old family recipe.
"Yeah, I can't wait to share this with my kids." Ryuichi said in an airy voice.
"Me too..." Lucy said and smiled; it was a relaxed smile one that did not often grace her face.
"Whelp! We better get some food out for when they come... you think they have any hamburger?" Lucy jumped up and spoke.
"Yeah I think I remember Metz mentioning something about killing a cow and a freezer." Ryuichi laughed Lucy was a spur of the moment person sometimes.
"Well I want to make hamburgers on the grill you in?" she asked and ran to the garage where the meat freezer was kept.
"Uh... is it safe to let you do that?" Ryuichi joked outwardly, but on the inside she was a little nervous Lucy and fire were not to be mixed.
"Of course I only caught the deck on fire once, and that was because my stupid brother threw the football at me." Lucy chirped as she opened the freezer and grabbed a couple packages of meat that were wrapped in butcher's paper. "What else should we have?"
"How about potato salad? And... fresh french-fries?" Ryuichi inquired
"Yes! And lemonade and some iced tea!" Lucy spoke and gathered the necessary items. She had lemon, potatoes, meat and other things she and Ryuichi had to prepare within an hour.
"You wanna start peeling potatoes while I thaw the meat and start up the grill?" Lucy asked as she reached for the matches in a cupboard.
"Sure then we can cut them and boil them and while that is going we can start the drinks.”
"Alrighty this is going to be fun!" Lucy skipped onto the deck that was on the side of the house to start the grill while the meat thawed in the microwave. Ryuichi put the potatoes in water and started to peel. It reminded her of when her and her grandpa would peel them for Agnes and grandma for dinner and they would sing or hum old Frank Sinatra songs even though grandpa wasn't that old.
"Hey Luce? Is that fire started yet?" Ryuichi asked as she finished the last potato, Lucy probably shirked the potato peeling for fire again.
"Yeah I was just staring into space, did you finish already?"
"Yeah get in here and help with the lemonade!" Ryuichi called out gathering the lemons off the counter and putting them on the table. Agnes had taught both of them to make her special lemonade and also taught Lucy how to make two different types of tea, green tea that tasted like blueberry muffins and southern sweet tea. The green tea was an accident that everybody liked.
"It's been like a year since I did this." Lucy said as she sat down to the table, Ryuichi handed her a knife to cut the lemons in half while she squeezed and added other ingredients.
"You get a lime?" Lucy asked when she finished the cutting and started on the tea.
"Duh, that's what makes it Aunt Agnes' family recipe." Ryuichi stated matter of factly while she shook the pitcher to mix the sugar in.
"That and the whole cup of rum..." Lucy mumbled, she was putting two kettles of water on the stove to boil and checking the potatoes.
"You think you should start on the burgers?" Ryuichi asked and motioned to the deck.
"Oh my gah! I almost forgot... tell Lindsey to meet me on the deck if he gets here early." Lucy yelled as she rushed to the deck with meat and grill kit in hand.
"Okay then... the potatoes are about done... all I need is to put the lemonade in the fridge to cool and wait for the gang." she told herself as the cell phone rang.
"Hello?" she asked into the phone.
"Hey Ryu!" Maddie said on the other line "Hey look out the window... we're at the end of the driveway.."
“Okay, I have to finish something so see you soon." she replied and hung up.
"Who was it!?” Lucy asked from the porch.
"Maddie! They're at the end of the drive so come in here and help me!"
"Can't gotta watch these or they won’t be perfect!"
There was honking coming from the driveway and loud shouting.
"Ryu go take care of that, I have to finish!"
Ryuichi made a face at the deck and walked to where her friends had congregated.
"Nice place you guys, now where is my woman?" Lindsey asked with a sly smile on his face, the others only laughed.
"She's grilling burgers.." Ryuichi informed and pointed to the deck while giving him a look, he was smiling way too well.. creepily.
"I love a sheila who grills!" He shouted and ran to the deck.
"Hey something smells good!" Mark said from beside Jamie.
"Hi uh.. Mister..uh" Ryuichi started to stutter.
"Just Mark today Ryuichi okay?" he said and winked.
"Oi Ryu! You make food just for plain ol' us?" Will teased.
Ryuichi was about to retort when they heard Lucy squeal and yell obscenities at her boyfriend, something about not touching her somewhere while she was working the grill.
"Let's head over to the deck before she hurts him." Jamie laughed they walked to the side of the house where the deck was and saw Lucy and Lindsey in a somewhat passionate embrace.
"Goodness kids can't you wait?" Lucas asked feeling that brotherly instinct kicking in.
"Oh shove off!" Lucy grumbled and separated from her partner.
"Yeah, will someone come in and help me with the drinks? I have to start up the fryer." Ryuichi walked into the house.
"I'll help!" Will and Mark volunteered and entered behind her.
"Hey what did you make?" Gavin asked while trying to steal a hamburger from the platter that was set on the table.
"Hamburgers, potato salad, lemonade, tea and soon French fries." Lucy said and smacked his hand with the spatula.
"Careful she's got good aim." Lindsey warned but everyone laughed when Lucy stuck out her tongue. "I think I'm in love." he joked.
"Oh yes you're quite the catch." Jamie said sarcastically and rolled his eyes. "What's taking you so long Ryu, you having an orgy in there?!" He shouted which made Ryuichi shoot out of the house with fresh potato salad in hand and Mark and Will following with the fryer and pitchers.
"Don't embarrass the girl like that Jamie." Mark said endearingly to Jamie and sat the stuff on the end of the table.
"Yeah yeah." he mumbled and pecked Mark on the lips.
"I would like to warn everybody about the small amount of rum in the lemonade... and not to allow Lucy around the fryer." Ryuichi announced and received a death glare from Lucy in which she replied with a shrug.
"Then let's party!" Maddie shouted and grabbed for the tea, she didn't like rum no matter how little there was.
"It'll be about ten minutes till the fries are edible." Lucy said and passed the hamburger platter to Mark.
"You guys this is great, food, drink and friends how much better could it get!" Cordelia complimented and the others muttered their approval.
"Well... how about when this is over a game of 'Strip I've Never' and if Mark allows us.. a couple of drinks." Lucy said from Lindsey’s lap, she was feeding him while he kept his hands in the back pockets of her skirt.
"Fine with me as long as it doesn't get out of hand." Mark agreed before taking a sip of lemonade and slipping his hand into Jamie's.
"Cool! I love that game, and I know who's gonna lose already!" Maddie teased and everyone looked to Lucy.
"Hey that's my sister, no ogling!" he shouted the girls only laughed.
"Dude, half of us are girls and taken." Cordelia reminded him while Lucy threw a fork at him.
Lucas only grumbled and bit into his burger. The meal progressed and they continued the friendly banter till the sun went down and they were all inside.
"The food was great sheila’s" Lindsey said as he put away the last dish. All the guys had offered to wash the dishes after the meal while the girls got the living room rearranged for the game.
"Who wants to sit where!" Maddie asked when after they pushed the furniture into a semi-circle.
"Linds and I get the love seat!" Lucy shouted and claimed the mini sofa. Lindsey swaggered over to her and promptly sat upon her making her giggle.
"Me, Gavin, Jamie and Mark, Maddie and Lucas call sofas!" Cordelia shouted and they sat on the two sofas that were pushed together.
"That leaves Ryu and Will with the futon." Lucy smirked when she saw Ryuichi flush bright red.
"Who doesn't know the rules?" Maddie asked, looking around at all of them no one objected so she continued. "Alright since Ryu and Lucy are the hosts they get first turn..er turns."
Lucy perked up and got a silly smile on her face. "I have never... worn an old person's dentures." when Ryuichi heard this she moaned in discontent and took off her shoes. Everyone turned to look at her silently asking 'What?'
"It was in kindergarten, Lucy dared me!" she huffed and thought of one.
"I have never... dated a teacher." Ryuichi said and smiled shooting a look at Lucy, it was obvious that Jamie had, little bit that Mark had, but Lucy bent over and took off her flip-flops, that was the shocker.
"What?" she asked many only rolled their eyes.
"Who was it!" Lucas yelled angry that some dirty old teacher dated his sister.
"You remember Miss Calvin's substitute for a month?" She asked Ryuichi, Maddie and Cordelia nodded their heads.
"Laird Smithers! You dated him!" Mark yelled eyes wide.
"You too huh?" Lucy smiled and leaned into the couch. "That was so long ago though, next!"
"Okay" Lindsey started " I have never made out with the same sex." Of course Jamie and Mark removed a piece of clothing plus Cordy and Maddie.
"Nina Abbot, last year." she said before they could ask.
"No way! That chick is totally hot!" Gavin yelled and got elbowed in the gut by Cordelia.
"Tina Abbot that same night..." Maddie mumbled blushing even though she had only taken off her shoes.
"No way! You both made out with the Abbot twins and didn’t tell till now!" Lucas gasped
"Next!" Maddie shouted too embarrassed to talk further.
"I've never been caught making out or having sex." Jamie said and smiled when he saw Mark take off his shirt but raise and inquisitive eyebrow at Cordelia and Gavin who had taken off their shoes. "I don't even want to know..." Ryuichi only coughed and then removed an article of clothing.
“Who exactly did you see Ryu?” Will asked then glanced around the room.
She only giggled slightly then pointed to Lucy and Lindsey, then Jamie and Mark,” Same day actually… “
"Alrighty, I've never dressed as the opposite sex." Mark said and laughed when he saw Cordelia, Lucy and Jamie take off and article of clothing, but Lindsey, Lucas and Gavin.
"I bet it was Halloween right?" he teased and Jamie only pecked him on the lips and humphed.
"Actually it was a family reunion for me and Lucas, Ryuichi didn't want to play!"
"Yeah well, it was dare alright!" Gavin said nervously, but Cordelia shook her head.
"No his older cousin did a full-on makeover on him when he was seven." she added and giggled slightly.
Will sat there silent and coughed. "I've never done a strip tease," he heard Lucas say. He looked over at Lucas then Will kicked off his shoes.
"I've never had a one night stand," Will said as Lindsey removed his shirt.
"Who did you have a one night stand with?" Ryuichi asked curiously. Lucy only stared at the younger girl.
"I believe her name was Tonya," Lindsey replied
"Was she an ice skater?"
"Not cool.."
"I’ve never slept with the opposite sex," Ryuichi said while turning red. At the same time Lindsey, Gavin, Lucy and Lucas all removed an article of clothing.
"Alrighty my turn again!" Lucy said with an evil smile on her face," I’ve never watched or looked at a porno in my life!" At the same time all the guys removed something.
"Umm let’s see.. I have never stalked my ex-boyfriend," Ryuichi said as Maddie and Cordy removed an article of clothing. Ryuichi had taken a look around the room and noticed all but a few people still had some articles of clothing left. "All right, those who are down to their skivvies, they’ll be helping out with those who are still in the game," Lucy said while taking a drink of Lindsey’s lemonade.
Ryuichi who was down to her bra and underwear walked over to her bag of clothes threw on a pair of black boxer shorts and a magenta t-shirt and then went out on the deck. She sat down on one of the deck chairs and let the rain sprinkle down on her. Even though Will was still in his boxers and muscle shirt, he excused himself for a few minutes and joined Ryuichi out on the deck. He smiled to himself then shook his head as he watched her for a few seconds. Before walking closer, he noticed she had been singing to herself.
"Hey there," Will said kissing her on her shoulder. She looked up at him and he pulled up a deck chair next to her as they listened to the rest of the game as it winded down.
"I have never threatened to assault someone with a horseshoe pole," Lindsey said as Lucy removed her final piece of clothing.
"I was protecting my brother what can I say?" Lucy said in defense of herself.
Everyone laughed while the game died down. The view from the deck was very picturesque. The way the colors of the sky blended together it made it seem like the night sky would never fade out. Will moved his chair closer to Ryuichi’s and he smiled at her. They intertwined hands while the sky started turning dark blue and little flecks of lights soon filled the night sky.
The grandfather clock in the hallway started chiming midnight. Ryuichi closed her eyes for a few seconds and instantly fell asleep. Will admired the view from where he was sitting and listened to all the noises from the country. He could hear crickets chirping and far off in the distance he heard an owl crying out in the deep forest. He stood up moving the deck chair back to where it was and stretched before turning back to where Ryuichi was fast asleep. He picked Ryuichi up with his free hand because she still had a firm grip on his other hand. With his free hand he opened the deck door and walked in sideways.
"Did she fall asleep on you?" Lucy asked quietly while sitting her on the futon. Ryuichi mumbled something before rolling on her side.
"Yeah but it’s all right," He replied sitting on the edge of the futon.
"I love you guys," Ryuichi mumbled," especially you Will."
He smiled and kissed her on the forehead," I love you too Ryu.." He placed a blanket over the sleeping girl. Will noticed everyone else was either fast asleep or wide-awake and talking. The clock chimed 2 a.m. and Will had finally fallen asleep beside Ryuichi. Ryuichi woke up for a few minutes to unfold the blanket that was on top of her and shared it with him. She immediately fell back asleep afterwards.
By the time everyone had woken up from last night’s events, it was almost two in the afternoon. Everyone else scrambled around the house cleaning up the odds and ends of the house that they dirtied up.
"Come on Ryu, we need your help cleaning up the rest of the house," Lucy said tugging on the younger girl's hand. She yawned then several hands pulled her off of the futon. After that, she sluggishly helped everyone straighten up the small country house. Once everything had been cleaned, those who brought extra clothes got dressed.

This or That Questions
(2/4/19) I love either/or questions. This one will be fun!
This or That
Dog or Cat? Dog. All the way. No question. Also, I’m allergic to cats, so there’s that.
Netflix or YouTube? YouTube. I love my makeup videos. Netflix, we have the basic subscription and it never seems to have the movies I want to watch. Boo.
Phone Call or Text? Depends. If I want an immediate answer, I’m having a long chat, or something is complicated, phone call. Text for basic, non-time sensitive questions. Overall, I think text.
Toast or Eggs? Toast with Eggs, of course! I think if I had to choose, eggs because they are healthier and protein.
Cardio or Weights? Before 2018, I would have said cardio all the way because I didn’t feel the need to gain strength. After working out consistently, I love a good weight lifting workout routine. It’s so empowering! The videos I do combine both which kicks my butt!
Facebook or Twitter? Facebook. I deleted my twitter. I can’t be constrained to a certain number of characters. I’m too long winded.
Ice Cream Cone or Snow Cone? Ice Cream, but Snow cone is a good option too. I like the creaminess of ice cream, snow cone has the flavor, but it’s literally eating ice. Ice cream is just more pleasurable to eat.
Mobile Games or Console Games? Computer :). Mobile games make my phone really hot and drain the battery. Console has a controller which makes it hard to maneuver. But computer games have a mouse or a keyboard and it’s easy to handle :)
While walking: Music or Podcasts? Music, it pumps me up.
iOS or Android? iOS. Hubby would hate me for saying that, but it just has a better operating system.
Pop or Indie? Pop. I’m a total bubblegum pop junkie. Indie is too folk feeling and I just can’t get into it.
Cake or Pie? UGH, WHY?! I’m going to go with cake. It’s light and fluffy and has frosting (fun fact, I LOVE frosting. I’m the type of person who wants the corner piece of a frosted cake every time!) Pie has the flaky crust and tastes good, but there’s usually a chunk of fruit filling that is obtrusive and then you suddenly have a lot of crust and no more filling.
Swimming or Sunbathing? Neither. I dislike swimming for the water in my ears, sunbathing gives me a sunburn. If I had to choose, swimming, though.
High-tech or Low-tech? Medium-tech. I’m far from a techie, but modern technology and advances fascinate me. I do my research about the latest developments, though.
Big Party or Small Gathering? Small. Anytime something allows me to connect more intimately I’m totally there.
New Clothes or New Phone? New clothes. I don’t care about having the latest phone. I don’t get a new phone unless mine breaks.
Football or Basketball? Football. I can’t get into basketball, too much back and forth for me.
Work Hard or Play Hard? Both. What kind of question is this?
Nice Car or Nice Home Interior? Ooh...good question. Nice home interior. I spend the most time inside my house so I’d want to feel invited and like home most.
What’s worse: Laundry or Dishes? Oh man, I can’t say I really dislike either. I would have to say dishes. Getting stuck on food off the dishes is the worst!
Jogging or Hiking? oh, this one is good too. Hiking, easier on the knees and it allows me to see nature more.
Bath or Shower? Shower. In a recent post, I mentioned not liking baths. I just don’t want to sit in a pool of dirty water, ha!
Sneakers or Sandals? In most cases, sandals. They are easy to put on. If I’m exercising, sneakers of course.
Glasses or Contacts? Glasses. I prefer the way I look with contacts, but my eyes hurt after wearing them for more than two days in a row. I used to wear them all day every day and now I can’t wear them more than a few days before my eyes start to burn and “need air”.
Hamburger or Taco? Hamburger. So many more cohesive, delicious toppings options.
Couch or Recliner? Recliner. so comfortable and just enough room to sprawl out.
Online Shopping or Shopping in a Store? whatever is cheaper. Usually store for clothing items to try it on. For something that doesn’t require fitting, usually online.
Receive: Email or Letter? Depends on the contents. If it needs to be immediate, email. If it’s from a friend because they’re thinking of me, letter for sure!
Passenger or Driver? Ha! Passenger, I don’t like driving much. And I’m not super great at it.
Tablet or Computer? Computer, usually you can do more, and the operating system is better.
Most important in a partner: Intelligent or Funny? Funny. You can always learn which builds intelligence. You can’t “learn” to be funny if that makes sense. I think that’s something that comes naturally or doesn’t. That’s my opinion of course. And I’d like someone who makes me laugh.
Car or Truck? Car. Cheaper and better gas mileage.
Blue or Red? Red of course. Because...obvious reasons ;)
Money or Free Time? Free time. I need my time to refuel. I give so much of myself every day, I need that time to myself.
Amusement Park or Day at the Beach? Amusement park, I love the thrilling rides and food.
At a movie: Candy or Popcorn? Candy. I have such a sweet tooth!!! I will choose candy almost every time and I shouldn’t
Pen or Pencil? Pens. Pencil smears.
Toilet paper: Over or Under? Over, there’s no other way.
Cups in the cupboard: Right Side Up or Up Side Down? Upside down, then you don’t get things in the cup.
Pancake or Waffle? Oh man, I can’t choose. I like them both, truly.
Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi, there’s just something in it to make me prefer the taste.
Coffee Cup or Thermos? Coffee cup. There’s nothing like sitting at home on a Sunday morning with a coffee cup. I don’t carry coffee, so the thermos isn’t useful.
Blinds or Curtain? Curtain, there’s more style in them. More design elements.
Train or Plane? Hmm...I’ve never ridden on a train, so I’d have to say plane? it’s more comfortable?
Phone or Phablet? Phone. Phablets are unnecessarily large and you can’t transport them easily.
Iced Coffee or Hot Coffee? Hot most of the time. It’s so classic and warms me up.
Meat or Vegetables? Vegetables, there are more nutrients in vegetables. Meat is largely protein. Protein is important, but there are some vitamins only in vegetables.
International Vacation or a New TV? International vacation, or TV works just fine. We don’t need a new one.
Save or Spend? Stop! I don’t like this game anymore! Ugh!! I like a happy medium between the two, but we are trying to save for a house, so I’m going to say that.
Honesty or Other’s Feelings? Tactful honesty being sensitive to feelings. It’s all about the delivery :)
Coffee or Tea? This is a tough one--I drink coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. I’d have to go with coffee, though. The flavored creamers are amazing!
TV or Book? TV, it’s easier to do something with it playing in the background. I have to really concentrate when I read--literally no background noise. I have to say, the more I’m getting into books, the more I like them though.
Movie at Home or Movie at the Theater? Home. You can pause when you want and you don’t have to deal with people being noisy.
Ocean or Mountains? Hmm...I’m unsure to be honest. I like them both for different reasons. I’d choose mountains, I think, because I’m less adept in water.
Horror Movie or Comedy Movie? Comedy. I want to laugh, not be scared!
City or Countryside? Country, it’s the Nebraska girl in me :) I’m not made for a big city. Too many people and too much noise. And I’m bad at driving so there’s that.
Winter or Summer? Summer. I’m biased because I’m writing this in winter and I’m SO DONE with it. But, I’ve always loved summer. I handle the heat way better than cold. And it doesn’t snow in summer to make the roads icy.
Mac or PC? Mac, I just love the operating system and security of it.
Console Gaming or PC Gaming? Ha! I already answered this with the other question. PC, easier to play.
Soup or Sandwich? I’d go with sandwich. I’m not picky with soups, but there aren’t many I like when going out. Sandwiches there’s usually a better variety.
Card Game or Board Game? Board game, there are way more options on board games than card games.
Classical Art or Modern Art? Ooh, good one. Classical, it seems modern art is more abstract. Classical has the nature and landscapes, which, in my opinion, (keeping in mind I’m not an artist), requires more skill.
Beer or Wine? Beer. I like more types of beer than I do wine. I only like sweet white wine. Beer, I can usually find more options.
Camping or Binge Watching Shows at Home? Binge watching shows. I’m at home, not in the elements. No mosquitoes or sunburns. There’s also a shower here so yeah.
Working Alone or Working in a Team? Team where everyone delegates and pulls their weight :) But really, teams make the work load much lighter.
Dine In or Delivery? Dine in. I like the ambience of a nice sit down restaurant. It also gets me out of the house.
Sweater or Hoodie? Hmm...sweater. There’s more fashion elements in sweaters.
Comic Book or Comic Strips? umm....I don’t know. I’m a newspaper comic girl, so comic strips? I’m not entirely sure.
Motorcycle or Bicycle? Hubby has a motorcycle. It’s fun.
Book or eBook? Ugh! Before the new year I would have said book all the way. Nothing beats the pages, the smell, and seeing your progress. The ebook, though, is a strong contender! I love how it keeps so many books on one device and you can pick and choose which one you want.
When sleeping: Fan or No Fan? No fan, I’d rather just remove clothing or blankets.
Ninjas or Pirates? Ninjas! So stealthy! And they don’t do bad things, right? Like pirates do? Maybe I’m wrong.
TV Shows or Movies? TV shows, more breaks without pausing the movie and interrupting. If I have to do something, I can wait until the episode is over, do my chores, take a break, etc, and pick up at the next episode.
This was way longer than I thought. I need to only do these on the weekends, ha!
