Gwikki/Sarnate double date au (based on the KB JH double date in t7s and the drabble from @einsteinsugly )
Sarah was walking into the cafe, hair in beach waves and bangs while twiddling with her fingers. This was the first time she’s ever been on a date and she was super nervous. Her therapist and the group did say that trying a new experience was good and that going on a date with her boyfriend would be nice.
Nate suddenly put his arm around Sarah, making her giggle. He kissed her cheek and they walked to their table to sit. “You look beautiful, beautiful.” Sarah blushed and looked down. “Thanks Nate. You look good too.” The two sat down at the table together and looked at the menu.
Nikki and Gwen showed up and sat on the seats next to them. “Hey guys. Sorry we’re late. There was a lot of traffic.” Gwen said. “It was worth seeing Ms.Runck yell at the drivers.” Nikki chimed in. The waiter came over to their table. “What do you guys want for drinks?” He asked. “Well, I want the kids menu for starters.” Gwen rolled her eyes, “Dude, you’re literally fifteen years old.”
“S-Shut up Gwen. I like their sippy cups.” Nate stammered. Sarah pat his arm and kissed his cheek. The waiter just stood there awkwardly. “So just water?” Sarah turned to the waiter, “I’ll have a glass of strawberry lemonade.” The waiter nodded and turned to Gwen and Nikki. “And you lovely ladies?”
“We’ll have the white wine.” Gwen smiled. The waiter chuckled, “Nice try, but we don’t give alcohol to people under 21. You both can have orange juice in the kids cups along with Nate.” The couple groaned at that. The waiter simply walked away. Gwen turned to Nate, “Why can’t you just order from a glass like a normal teenager?”
“You know I like my sippy cups Gwen!” Nate exclaimed. Gwen groaned, “Why do you keep calling them sippy cups?” Sarah raised an eyebrow, “Are they always like this?” Nikki shrugged, “They’re actually pretty tame now.” They watched the siblings bicker continuously.
Nikki decided to intervene, “Okay guys!” The siblings stopped and turned to her. “Maybe since this is first time Sarah is on a double date with us, we should tell her about us and we can get to know her more. She is Nate’s girlfriend.”
Nate nodded, “Yeah, that’s probably best.” Gwen chimed in, “Yeah. So Sarah, what are you into?” Sarah began squeezing her stress ball to calm her nerves. “Well, I really like watching Disney and reading Star Wars. I play video games all the time and want to major in dance at college.” Nate chuckled and wrapped his arm around her. “Isn’t she amazing?”
“Yeah, makes me wonder why she’s with you.” Gwen remarked. Nikki decided to intervene again to prevent a Runck family bicker fest. “Okay, so now that we know some things about Sarah, why don’t we tell her stuff about us?” Sarah nodded, “Yeah, I know you and Gwen are siblings. And that you and Nikki use to date for a bit.”
“Yeah, but then I almost cheated on her with Leia.” Nate answered. “Wait what?” Sarah knew about some fallout happening between Nikki and Nate, given the way Nikki rebuffed Nate a few months ago and some of the fights she witnessed about Jay and Betsy ‘stabbing’ him in the back for not saying anything. But she didn’t know that was why they broke up.
Nate shook his head, “We didn’t go through with it though. Gwen caught us before I could kiss her.” Nikki chimed in, “Besides, that’s not even that bad compared to how he was before that. I mean he gave me a broken tiara from our trash can.” “Wait what?” Sarah exclaimed. “And he’d never shower and would only wash himself in the pool. Or if our mom forced him to. At least she did until he was 10.”
“Huh?” Sarah was even more confused and was kind of wary. “And he could never spell my name right. And acted like a total tool when he found about me and Gwen.” Sarah’s head began to hurt. “This doesn’t make any sense at all.” Nikki sighed, “It’s water under the bridge. Besides, I have my Funyun by my side.” She said smiling at Gwen. Gwen chuckled and kissed her softly.

“Adam, are you done yet?” Makayla calls to him, her voice a whine. Six year olds are not known for their patience, and Makayla is no different.
“Almost,” Adam replies as he finishes up putting away the freshly washed plates from their dinner. Makayla is old enough that she can play, happily and contently, by herself without his participation but during dinner she had asked him if they can play princesses and who was he to say no?
Especially when it helps distract her from the awkward questions she’s asking about Kim, and the clear anxiety and worry which is clearly plaguing the girl, the missing presence of her adoptive mother hanging over them both like a dark cloud.
It’s day two of Kim being in the hospital—day three, if he was to count the night Kevin and Jay found her. She had been in surgery for hours, and it had killed Adam to have to stay away, to not he at the hospital, but Kevin stayed on the phone with him and he was grateful for that.
And it was easier knowing that he was doing what Kim would want, that he was looking after her little girl, helping to preserve some normality in Makayla’s life.
When he had looked after her that night, he had just told her that Kim was busy at work, and he could see that Makayla had sensed that wasn’t just it, but for the most part she believed him. The next day was more difficult, however.
They knew that Kim is going to be okay. She has quite the recovery ahead of her, and she’s nowhere near ready to leave the hospital—she hasn’t even stayed awake for more than five minutes, and even that might be too generous. And so Adam had the task of telling Makayla this.
In his years as a cop, he’s had to do a lot of notifications and telling people that their loved ones are in the hospital but it never gets easier, and none of it could prepare him for having to tell Kim’s six year old.
It had gone better than Adam had thought, with him discovering that he’s a little better at this whole thing than he assumed he’d be. But Makayla’s worries and fears was clear; Adam having to reassure her that Kim will be coming home, and that in a few days, she’ll be able to see her.
“And,” Adam had told her with a smile, hoping to distract her. “Until then, we can have lots and lots of fun together.”
His goofy smile and his light hearted voice seemed to reassure her, as she had smiled at him them, an adorable toothy grin that somehow—even though it makes no sense to as why—reminded him of Kim.
Makayla had asked him if they could make Kim a card, to which he obviously said yes, and they had a fun evening with card, paint and glitter and Adam thought that maybe he’ll actually be able to do this. She did, however, when night came ask if she could sleep in his—Kim’s—bed and, although it sent him briefly into a panic, he immediately said yes, wanting to be able to report to Kim that he did everything right.
“Adam!” Makayla calls impatiently again and Adam laughs, shaking his head slightly.
“I’m coming,” he says, walking to her and taking a seat beside her. His bones complains about how low to the ground he has to be, but Makayla’s bright smile makes it worth it.
“Okay then, lil darlin’, how do we play princesses?” He asks her and her smile widens at her new moniker he’s given her. He called it her yesterday, right after yet another thought that Kim and her may not be blood related, or even known each other for long, but there’s already so many similarities between the two came to him.
“I’m not that small, Adam! I’m third tallest in my class!” Makayla had initially protested to the lil part of name.
“I know you’re not that small,” He had agreed, even though to him, she is, obviously. “But you’re lil darlin’ because you’re Kim’s daughter and Kim is darlin’.”
He had then momentarily freaked out, because he’s not sure how she feels about being called Kim’s daughter, and because he was scared that she’d think he was forgetting all about her mother, the one who raised her for six years.
But Makayla didn’t seem to mind, in fact, she seemed to beam wider at it. She made it clear that she liked Kim and her having matching monikers, and that she’s Kim’s junior—and thankfully, she didn’t ask why Kim is darlin’, as Adam had no idea how to answer that.
Makayla, now, in response to his question, jumps up and runs to her bedroom. She’s back shortly after, with a box filled with princess outfits, and bright materials, like a fluffy neon boa scarf.
“Here!” she places the box down, smiling proudly. Adam eagerly returns the smile, before fishing out a tutu out of it. He holds it up, grinning goofily at her.
“Somehow I think this won’t fit me.” He jokes and Makayla giggles.
“Of course it won’t, silly. You can use some of Kim’s clothes!” Makayla tells him.
Makayla quickly chooses what clothes she—and he—is going to wear, wrapping the neon boa scarf around his neck proudly. And then she’s going back to her bedroom, coming out with a smaller, more delicate box.
“First, we need to put on this!” She exclaims, opening the box to reveal kid makeup, nail polish and some stickers. Adam raises his eyebrow.
“Kim says we have to put it on before the clothes, so we don’t get the nail vanish on it.” Adam thinks she means varnish, her mistake making his heart constrict at the adorableness. Makayla then grabs this sheet, putting it over the rug.
“And we need to make sure we don’t mess the carpet,”
With that done, Adam peers into the box. “Okay, what colour do you want to paint my nails?”
It’s not a sentence Adam ever thought he’d say, not at this time anyway, but he doesn’t mind. Not even when Makayla’s eyes fill up with glee and mischief as she happily exclaims;
“All of them!”
Adam isn’t one who takes much photos, especially as he got older and more serious, and had less things in his life he wanted to document. But he takes lots after him and Makayla dress up, wanting to have a record of this for when Kim is properly awake.
And, if he’s honest, for himself, as—despite the love of his life being in hospital in the ICU—this is the happiest he’s been in a while. He snaps photos of not only Makayla, but himself, capturing his made up face, the tiara on his head and his multi-coloured nails.
Makayla is at school the next day, and Adam is in Kim’s hospital room. He’s showered and washed off his face, and in his clothes, obviously, but his nails are still painted. Makayla seemed to be really happy at him letting her paint his nails—saying offhandedly that her uncle never used to let her paint his nails—so he kept them. That, and because he couldn’t find the remover for it, of course.
“Hey, Kim.” Adam says softly. Kim’s not awake, still sleeping and if it wasn’t for the bruise on her face, the hospital gown, and all the wires surrounding her, Adam would think she looks so peaceful, like she’s just slumbering in her bed at home.
She’s off the ventilator, now, and Adam thinks that he’ll be able to take Makayla in to see her tomorrow, even if she’s not awake when he does, because she doesn’t seem as scary, as hit and miss and near death.
He’ll never be able to get the image of her lying attached to the ventilator, the day after they found her. Adam had dropped Makayla off at school and headed straight to the hospital. Kevin had met him outside, and warned him it wasn’t pretty, and he thought he was prepared—but nothing could ever prepare him for that.
Adam sits down next to her bed, now, lightly holding her hand in his. He’s immediately brought back to all those years ago, to when she was shot the first time, and she was in the hospital. He feels just as sick as he did then, feeling as if half of his heart is gone.
He can’t help thinking how this is the reverse of then, too. Back then, he had to hide how he felt from everyone, the only one who knew was Kim. And now, now he doesn’t have to hide it, everyone in his unit knows just how much he loves her, but Kim doesn’t—or rather, perhaps, can’t see it, for whatever reason.
He’s caught up in this thought that he doesn’t notice her stirring, her eyes opening. He only realises she’s awake when she squeezes his hand—weakly, still not strong—and his eyes look up from the spot they’ve been staring at and to her face.
Kim’s eyes are only half open, heavy lidded, but she’s awake and she’s looking at him. Currently, the only people who has gotten to see Kim, awake, is the doctor, the nurse and Kevin and Trudy. Adam knows he’s needed by Makayla, but he can’t help but feel envy, jealousy, that others got to have her see them and he hasn’t.
But now she’s awake, and she’s looking at him. There’s a smile dancing on her lips, soft and gentle but so, so Kim. His mind can’t help but go back to that first time she was shot again, and about the smile she gave him then, when she realised he was there, with her.
“Adam,” Her voice is barely there, dry and hoarse, coming out a little more than a whisper. But his heart skips a beat at hearing her say his name, and he knows he should calm himself, because Kim has made it clear that dating isn’t on the table—even if he thinks her reasons are nonsense—but he can’t because he loves her, because he nearly lost her, because he’s spent the last few days looking after her daughter and wishing she was his as well, because she’s awake and she’s looking at him and she’s saying his name.
“Hey, Kim.” He says again, managing to catch himself just in time before he accidentally slipped out a darlin’ instead. Her eyes glance down before glancing back up, her smile widening.
“I like the nails.” Her smile is playful, teasing and even though her voice is still dry, he can hear the amusement in it. Adam looks down at his hands, still around hers, and he feels oddly exposed, that it’s apparent just how desperate he is for them to be a family.
“Makayla and I played princesses.” He tells her, proudly, shrugging off any feelings of desperation and insecurity. He then pulls back from her hands, reaching into his pocket for his phone.
“I took photos—if you want to see?” He offers, watching as Kim’s eyes light up. She instantly tries to move, to adjust herself so she’s sitting up more and he immediately stops her, jumping to help her instead.
Kim shifts over, encouraging him to sit down on the bed so that she can see the photos with ease. She’s been in the hospital for days, and the sterile smell clings to her, but he can still smell her, the essence that’s just Kim as she rests against him. He tries to calm his beating heart, but that’s impossible whenever Kim is around him, whenever she is on him.
Especially right now. When all he can think about is how much he loves her, and how domestic this all feels, showing her photos of her daughter, the daughter Adam’s been looking after.
Adam is showing her the photos, getting near the end of the mass he took, when he realises she’s stopped cooing. He thinks she must’ve fallen back asleep—understandable, depending everything her body has been through—but when he looks down at her, she’s still awake.
She’s not looking at the photos, but at him. There’s a softness, affection, in her expression and Adam doesn’t quite know how to read it.
“I love you.” She says then, her voice the clearest it’s been. He blinks, stunned, not expecting that to come out of her mouth.
“Kim—” He goes to say that they don’t need to talk right now, that he doesn’t need to hear this, but she continues, fixing him a look—a look that reminds him a fair bit of Trudy—telling him to be quiet.
“When I was in that warehouse, dying, all I could think about—other than Makayla—was you. I even called out to you; all I wanted was you, to have you save me. I thought I was going to die and all I could think about was how we’ve left things, how I’ve pushed you away. You’re my person, Adam. I know, now, I’m never going to want anyone else and all what I’ve been trying to convince myself about you, about us, it’s bull. I love you, and I never want to be scared that I’ll die without you knowing that ever again.”
This is everything Adam has wanted to hear for years, and exactly what he’s been desperate for ever since, right before Kim fostered Makayla, they slept together again. It’s embarrassing how many nights he’s spent lying awake, staring at his ceiling, wishing for her to say this to him but now, when it’s actually happening it, all he can do is stare, stunned, at her.
“Kim,” He says again, her name leaving his lip sounding quite like a plea. Hearing her say this, hearing her tell him this, it means more to him than he could ever describe and he doesn’t know exactly how to express that, how to express the thoughts and feelings in his mind, in his heart.
“Look, we don’t need to like. I don’t expect anything from you. I know we have stuff we need to talk about, I can’t click my fingers and make everything that’s happened between us okay. But I needed you to know this—I thought I could wait, until I’m better. But you—you let Makayla paint your nails,” It’s so much more than that one gesture, Adam can tell. He can tell from how she says the words, the way seeing his nails painted means so much to her, that it signifies something so much more important than just him having fun with her daughter. And he can tell because he knows her, knows Kim better than he even knows himself.
And he understands exactly what she means, excited what she’s feeling. When he let Makayla paint his nails, he did hope that it would show Kim that he’s taking his role seriously, taking the fact that he’s their family seriously, but that wasn’t why he let her. Adam let her because she’s an adorable child, because she’s Kim’s daughter, because she deserves to be happy. He wasn’t thinking about what he could personally gain from it, it was just something he did without much thought, something that just made sense to agree too—just because Makayla asked.
Adam can see that Kim understands that, and that’s what’s resonated with her, that’s what’s making her look at him like that, with love and adoration and utter affection, a look he hasn’t quite seen in her eyes since the day he proposed to her.
It’s the first time since Kim was pregnant and let him in that hope blooms in him; that Adam has hope that finally, finally, he’ll get his girl again.
He softly strokes his thumb against her hand, before lifting it up and giving it a gentle kiss. “I know, darlin’.” He doesn’t hesitate or hold back now, knowing that it will be received well, and Kim smiles at it.
Adam notices then that she’s looking tired, and realises that her body needs more rest. He gently puts down her hand. “Rest, now. We can talk more about this—us—when you’re better. You need to rest and recover, because I know there’s an adorable six year old who misses you very much.”
Kim smiles again and Adam’s heart warms at the sight of it. “And darlin’? I love you, too.”
She falls asleep shortly after that. Adam doesn’t particularly want her too, not ready to stop seeing her awake, to talk to her, to see her smile and hear her voice. But he’s okay with it, because she wants him and she might be asleep now, but they have all the time in the world, the rest of their lives, to be together.
A couple days later, Kim has gotten stronger and needs less wires, the bruise on her face going down and colour returning to her face. She’s still got such a long recovery ahead of her, and she still needs to be in the hospital for a few more weeks, but Adam can finally bring Makayla with him.
The six year old is very excited, waking Adam up at an unholy time in the morning, practically jumping around the place. She’s made Kim another card and several pictures—some of which includes Adam in them, which warmed his heart—and while she understands Kim can’t come home just yet, she’s still very happy she can see her.
Adam walks through the hospital to Kim’s room, Makayla on his hip—although the way she’s bouncing, squirming with barely contained excitement, it’s a miracle Adam is able to keep hold of her.
He’d have let her bound ahead, walking by herself, if it wasn’t for it being a hospital, Adam wanting to make sure she’s contained and doesn’t cause any destruction.
There are many perks to being a cop, and being able to weave through the hospital with ease just with the wave of your badge is one of them. Although, Adam’s badge isn’t around his neck, Makayla having claimed it for herself.
“Can I wear it?” She asked him that morning, when he explained to her why he was wearing it around his neck, on display. He had agreed, not only because she’s too cute to say no to, but because she’d be carried by him, which would clearly show the other adults around that he was a cop, even if she was wearing it.
“Uncle Kev!” Makayla greets Kevin enthusiastically as they approach Kim’s hospital room. Kevin’s been sitting with Kim until they arrive, and at Adam’s text that they had, he had clearly headed out, ready to greet them.
“Hey, M.” Kevin ruffles Makayla’s curls, the girl grinning as he does so. He then nods in greeting to Adam; the two men still need to have a long conversation—in which Adam knows his role will be too listen, the only words being an apology—and they won’t be totally fine until they do, but there’s an understanding between them.
“How is she?” Adam asks Kevin, discreetly asking if Kim is tired, so he can prepare Makayla for that.
“Good, getting better and better. She’s been napping all morning, so she’s ready for this little one,” Kevin ruffles Makayla’s hair again. “Now, M, Adam’s explained that Kim’s gonna need to take it slow? That it might be scary—but she’s okay, she’ll be home before you know it?”
Kevin’s years of raising his siblings is displayed in how he talks to Makayla, using a soft, but adult tone?
After Makayla nods in answer to Kevin, Adam’s walking into Kim’s hospital room, the six year old on his hip. Kim’s sitting up in her bed, ready and eager to see Makayla. A wide, happy grin overtakes her face as soon as they enter and Kim sees Makayla.
Adam puts Makayla down as soon as they cross the threshold and she wastes no time running up to Kim’s bed. She does hesitate before jumping onto the bed, taking a step back and cautiously climbing up at the end, not wanting to accidentally sit on Kim.
Adam watches this, and watched how then Kim guides Makayla into her arms, her daughter immediately snuggling into them, looking happier than she’s looked in days. The scene tugs at Adam’s heart; they really do belong together, that is clear, their bond strong and true.
“Come cuddle, Adam!” Makayla then looks back at him, smiling that grin of hers, beckoning him over enthusiastically. He hesitates, not wanting to intrude on the moment, on Kim’s reunion with her daughter, but then Kim smiles at him; a big, loving smile which invites him over.
“Kim, guess what?” Makayla turns back to Kim as he heads over. “I’m lil darlin’! And it’s not ‘cos I’m short, but 'cos I’m your daughter!”
The way this makes Kim feel is clear to Adam, her expression open. She responds to Makayla, but she catches his eye, and Adam knows exactly what she’s trying to express to him.
When he reaches her bed, Kim pats her other side, encouraging him to sit down with them. It’s a tight fit, Adam barely on the bed, but it’s nice. He lifts up his arm, wrapping it around Kim, and she leans into him, Makayla snuggling against her still.
Makayla quickly urges Adam to pass her bag to her, so that she can show Kim all the stuff she made for her. Kim’s face lights up at them, looking with awe and wonder and love but all Adam can think about is how well the three of them fit together, that they’re already like a family.
There’s so much to discuss and work out, but Adam is looking forward to what the future holds if this is even a small glimpse into what it’ll be like.

Thanksgiving etc.
I have taken edibles three times in my life. One: at my cousin’s birthday party in 2003 or so. Two: the weekend after my mom died. Three: this past Wednesday, when I decided that the middle of Thanksgiving prep was a good time to do so. It wasn’t, as it turns out - I forgot about The Anxiety - but I did get everything I needed to do done, so there’s that. I managed to capture some photo evidence of my adventure.
You can kind of chart my brain going off the rails here. I spent a good ten minutes contemplating how to construct a question mark, and then graded myself on my progress.
Jay was going to start the onion soup that night so I very carefully selected one onion for my own cooking. Couldn’t figure out the word “use” so I substituted “spend”
Found this on the dining room table. I have no memory of writing it. It says: “Men driven to madness have been known to leap from the heights of culinary depravity and put oysters in the stuffing.” Must have been a strong opinion to interrupt the pie making to jot that down
I have about a hundred pictures in my phone of these eggs, which happened to be arranged in a nice color gradient in the carton. I was quite entranced by them. In the harsh light of a sober day I am still entranced by them.
Other highlights include timing myself while making a pie and getting upset that it took me from 3:46 to 4:08 to go from mixing bowl to oven, and being relieved that I had gone from god status to skateboarder status, which was a much easier realm to operate in. (Good people, I have never set foot on a skateboard.)
Thanksgiving was a thing that happened.
Dad wouldn’t come because there were too many people, so he just drunk texted all day from Scott’s house Got into a fight with my father in law over heating houses in early American history and almost flipped the table when he brought up the Erie Canal in a cavalier way. Then he started in on the Civil War and Nana almost flipped the table when he brought up Gettysburg in a cavalier way I caused a small crisis when I forgot to put the yams on the table. The amount of shrieking, my god My mother in law having one cocktail too many and leaving before dessert; she went to say goodbye to my aunt, who never comes to Thanksgiving because it’s difficult and triggering for her, and said at the top of her voice, “IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN BARBARA!” Whereat Jay and Dan:
Me, in the kitchen with the two above, halfway through pouring coffee into the coffee pot:
Meanwhile Barbara is upstairs, jammed in amongst the tiaras on my dresser because it dawned on me that it was probably not great to have an urn just hanging out in the living room for a major holiday dinner.
Also this:
(Fun fact it now takes a crew of several people to move my grandmother around; if you’re imagining Violet getting rolled away in the Willie Wonka movie you’re not too far off.)
Other than that it was mostly uneventful. Larry demanded a tiara as usual so we all put them on. He also gave me two bottles of champagne and three jars of pickled kelp.
Nana stole Kelsey’s Survey Corps hoodie. This is the face of a woman who would absolutely send a hundred scouts to get crushed to death by rocks hurled by a giant monkey.
Next up: Christmas

Love Finds A Way
(sequel to “See You Again” ( A Harry Hook x reader story)
Part 7
Back at the hideout the five where trying to come up with other options to not give Uma the wand but we're falling short.
“ There is no way we're giving Uma the wand.” Evie said, pacing. “ We can't just let her destroy Auradon.”
“Uma doesn't get the wand, Ben and Ruby are toast, guys.” Carlos stated defeatedly.
“ So we're going to give Uma, of all people, the wand?” Evie fired back.
“ Wait, you guys! Your 3D printer!” Hadley spoke through the argument.
The other three looked at her.
“A phoney wand” Carlos realized what she was insinuating.
“Yeah but the second Uma tests it, she'll know it's fake.” Evie retorted.
“Okay, so then we get Ben and Ruby out really fast. We need some kind of diversion” Mal spoke from behind Hadley.
The rest thought for a moment, when Jay spoke up.
“Smoke bombs.”
“ That's perfect! I can get the chemicals I need from lady Tremains place.” Evie said as she walked over to Mal and Hadley.
“ Oh and sick hair by the way. Evil stepmom really stepped up her game.” Evie said running her fingers through the ends of Mal's newly dyed purple hair.
“ Ok you wanna know something, Dizzy did this!”
“Little Dizzy? No way!” Hadley gasped.
Jay cleared his throat as the girls kept rambling about Mal's hair.
“Hello?!”
Jay shot the girls a look when they turned to him
“Right. Jay, Carlos, meet us at Pirates Bay no later than 12 o'clock. And you guys, losing, not an option.” The others nodded.
“Cause we're rotten…”
“To the core”
The five split up outside the hideout.
Hadley, Evie and Mal walked their way through the winding streets and dark alleys to “Curl Up and Dye” owned by none other than Lady Tremaine.
Hadley and Evie pushed through the tall plastic curtain that lead on to the floor of the salon. Multiple colors of paint splatters cover the walls and broken mirrors sat in front of styling chairs. A white claw foot bath tub sat in the very back corner, full of hair potions and colors, bubbling away.
At the desk at the very back of the salon, with her back turned to them sat little Dizzy, daughter of Drizzella. Dizzy is young, about 11 or 12, she wore a black paint splattered dress and a blue paint splattered apron. Her hair was perched in two messy buns on top of her head and her purple cats-eye glasses sat far down on the end of her nose from having been hunched of the desk. The desk was cluttered with gold and silver jewelry, gems of all shapes mostly Ruby and sapphires, some skulls and tiaras litterd around as well. Dizzy always made the jewelry that Hadley and Evie wore.
Hadley and Evie looked at each other and smiled, to them Dizzy was like a little sister, there where many times they hung out with dizzy creating new dresses and playing around with hairstyles.
They snuck over, careful not to make any noise and crouched down next to the desk. It took Dizzy a moment to realize that there was someone next to her.
“Evie? Hadley?” Dizzy jumped from the chair and grabbed the two in a waist high tight hug. The two older girls embraced her tighter.
“You guys came back! Is it all just like we imagined? Do they really have closets you can walk into? Have you been to a real swimming pool? What does ice cream taste like?” Dizzy spit out question after question and evening and Hadley laughed.
“It's cold and sweet. And if you eat it too fast you get a headache.” Evie tapped her nose.
“Really?”
“Yeah”
“I saved your sketchbook for you!” Dizzy ran off to another part of the salon.
“You did?”Hadley beamed.
Dizzy came back a few seconds later carrying a large blue book.
She set the book down and Evie sat at the desk with dizzy and Hadley looking over her shoulder. Evie opened up the first page and marveled at the sketch of a dress.
Hadley gasped “We made that dress out of safety pins and an old curtain”
“It reminds me of the dress you made for Mal when she met Jasmine.”
“I spilled curry all over that” Mal inquired.
“You did” Hadley laughed.
A look of realization crossed over Evie's face.
“You're totally right Dizzy. This was…. This was totally the inspiration for that.”
“I knew it! You can take the girl out of the isle but you can't take the isle out of the girl”
Hadley and Evie looked a Dizzy sadley. They both knew how bad Dizzy wanted to go to Auradon.
Changing the subject and adding more light to the room, Hadley picked up a small blue skull shaped sapphire and a silver arm band and held them together.
”is this too much or is this fabulous?”
“Hand me the glue gun!” Dizzy held her hand out and Evie placed it in her hand.
She excitedly glued the two pieces together.
Mal then cleared her throat gaining their attention.
“Smoke bombs?”
“Right.” Hadley looked over at Dizzy, “is it alright?”
Dizzy beamed at her.
“Sure take what you need!”
“Dizzy you are the best!” Evie gave her a side hug and the three got to work creating the smoke bombs.
After two hours and five smoke bombs later, Hadley, Evie and Mal were ready to leave. They carefully placed them in Mal and Evie's bags.
Evie turned around,as Mal placed the last smoke bombs in the bags, holding a gold circular band encrusted with Ruby hearts over her head.
“H, how amazing would this look with my shredded tee and my heart purse?”
“Very amazing!”
“Take it! Take a bunch!” Dizzy exclaimed from across the salon.
Dizzy scooped up a bunch of the jewelry from the desk skipping over to the three girls.
Hadley quickly grabbed Evie's bag and opened it up for Dizzy.
“Oh Dizzy!” Evie squealed.
“It would make me so happy to know that you were wearing something of mine in Auradon. It's almost like me being there myself.” Dizzy smiled.
Evie and Hadley both exchanged looks and pulled Dizzy into a hug.
“We really wish we could take you with us.” Evie said.
“At least two of us had our dreams come true, right?” Dizzy said as they pulled away.
The two girls looked down.
“E,H we gotta go.” Mal quipped from the back.
The two nodded and followed Mal to the front of the shop where Evie and Hadley turned to look back at Dizzy who had sat back down at the desk looking through the sketchbook.
“She's gonna be okay” Mal said.
Hadley sighed.
“Yeah. But she could be so much more.” Evie whispered.
Hadley gave a tight lipped smile.
“Let's go.”
The three walked out the salon and back into the cold Alleyways. The walk back to the hideout was filled with the three girls linking arms and laughing at ridiculous stories from Auradon gossip.
“I'm serious! Ruby told me She turned her mother into a bear. All because she didn't want to get married.” Hadley laughed.
“yeah okay H” Mal remarked
“It's true!”
Mal held her hands up in defense.
Evie had a small smile on her face but it looked more like a grimace.
“Evie, you okay?”
Mal took this as her que to leave, heading up the stairs and into the hideout.
"E.. you can tell me" Hadley took both of Evie's hands.
Evie let out a drawn out breath.
“You and Ruby are getting pretty close hu?"
"I mean yeah, she's a good friend"
"Good enough to ditch me for her?" Evie questioned looking up the alley.
"what are you talking about?" concern flashed through Hadley's features.
"You know what I mean, your always running off with her anymore, ditching me in your path.." Evie removed her hands from Hadley's.
"Evie… I am so sorry.. honestly.. I didn't know I was doing that." Hadley pleaded.
" I feel like I'm losing my best friend" Evie hung her head.
"Evie, you're not my best friend…" Hadley stated stated shaking her head.
Evie's face fell.
Hadley took her hands again.
"You're not my best friend…you are so much more than that..you're my sister…"
Evie grinned wildly and pulled Hadley into a tight hug.
"Im sorry I've been ditching you. I promise when we get back, we'll spend time together.. just you and me." Hadley smiled as she pulled back.
"I'd like that" Evie smiled.
(Hadley)
Yo, my best friend, best friend til the very end
Cause best friends, best friends don't have to pretend
You need a hand, and I'm right there right beside you
You in the dark, I'll be the bright light to guide you
'member the times, times, times sneaking out the house
All of the times, times, times that you had the doubts
And don't forget all the trouble we got into
We got something you can't undo, do
Laughing so damn hard
Crashed your dad's new car
All the scars we share
I promise, I swear
(Hadley and Evie)
Wherever you go, just always remember
That you got a home for now and forever
And if you get low, just call me whenever
This is my oath to you
Wherever you go, just always remember
You're never alone, we're birds of a feather
And we'll never change, no matter the weather
This is my oath to you
(Evie)
I know I drive you crazy, mm, sometimes
I know I call you lazy, and that's most times
But you complete me, and that's no lie
You are my tuxedo, and I'm your bow tie
We in the car, sing, sing, singing our song
Rocking the building, tear it down, like we king kong
And in my eyes, you can't do, do no wrong
You got the best friends sing, sing along
(Hadley and Evie)
Laughing so damn hard
Crashed your dad's new car
All the scars we share
I promise, I swear
Wherever you go, just always remember
That you got a home for now and forever
And if you get low, just call me whenever
This is my oath to you
Wherever you go, just always remember
You're never alone, we're birds of a feather
And we'll never change, no matter the weather
This is my oath to you
I'll never let you go
Whoa, this is my oath to you
Just thought that you should know
Whoa, this is my oath to you
Yeah
Wherever you go, just always remember
That you got a home for now and forever
And if you get low, just call me whenever
This is my oath to you
Wherever you go, just always remember
You're never alone, we're birds of a feather
And we'll never change, no matter the weather
This is my oath to you
Oh oh
You should know, you should know, you should know, you should know
Yeah oh
Whoa, this is my oath to you
Whoa, wherever you go just always remember
You're never alone, we're birds of a feather
Whoa, this is my oath to you
The two girls held their interlocked hands up in the air at the top of the stairs.
"Come on.. i think Mal needs someone to talk to" Hadley nodded her head towards the door to the hideout.
Together they went in and talked until they dozed off.
The morning sun crept of the isle the next morning, the light breeze from the surrounding ocean giving the isle a slight chill. The docks where busy and crowded as Umas crew prepared for the trading of the wand.
Uma had stationed Harry and Gil to watch over their royal captives. Not like they could go anywhere though. Uma had ordered Ben and Ruby to be tied, separated, to each mast of the ship for the night so they couldn't try to escape.
Harry jumped down from the upper deck and stalked around the tied up King, he stopped leaning in uncomfortably close to Ben as he could. Harry lifted his hand up and scratched under Ben's chin cooing at him.
"Coochy, coochy coo." Harry chuckled wildly
Ben just looked at Harry.
"How's it feel to be King now, eh?"
Harry smirked wildly, showing off the insanity behind his eyes.
He sauntered around the mast again ready to say something else but Uma beat him to it.
"Give it a rest Harry. Give it a rest" she sat down on a crate in front of Ben.
"We don't want damaged goods"
Harry climbed up the rope ladder and was hanging on by on hand.
"You said that I could hook him" he sneered through gritted teeth.
"I said at noon" Uma reminded him not taking her eyes off Ben.
Harry jumped down and made his way up to the King, holding out his small pocket watch.
"20 more minutes now"
"That says 11:30" ben looked at Harry concerned.
"You better hope you're Girlfriend comes through" uma smirked.
"She's not my girlfriend anymore." Ben looked down at the planks in the ship.
Uma looked surprised.
"Leave us alone Harry."
Harry looked at Uma, he tuned and held the pocket watch up again.
"19 more minutes now and then you're gonna pay for takin' away me Haddie."
Harry strutted away swinging the pocket watch and whistling.
Ben looked at Uma confused.
"He means Hadley. You know, blue hair, a bit of a hot head"
”Were they.. together?”
Uma chuckled “He wishes. Nah, they were just friends, that both had major crushes on each other”
Ben tried to turn his head catching a glimpse of the red leather jacket.
“What happened?”
“You happened.” Uma deadpanned.
Ben looked back at her.
“Look, when you took Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos over there, that's as mad as I've ever been. And trust me I've been plenty mad. But when you took Hadley from Harry, I've never seen a rage like that boy threw. Hadley was the one thing keeping him sane over here on this trash heap. And when she chose to stay over there, he snapped. Lost a few crew members because of it.” Uma looked around at her crew on the docks and the ship.
“You mean he…” Ben gulped.
Uma scoffed “We ain't that bad. No, he just scared them away”
Ben sighed and looked down for a moment then at Uma
“The plan was to start with the five and bring more over from there. I guess I just got so caught up being King, I know that sounds lame.”
Uma hummed.
“ I guess that's why Hadley always mentioned Harry or you around me. To get me to realise, I am so sorry Uma. Please come with us, be part of our solution.”
“oh so now we get the invite!” Uma looked up from her nails. “I don't need your apologies, were going to get there on our own, let's see what this baby can do.” She fiddled with her mother's shell necklace.

Chapter 5:
What Y/N didn’t notice as she was walking back to the party, was that Steve had managed to sneak away from his friends protruding questions that he didn’t have the mind to answer right now. Despite his best effort, he has never been one who can stay away from Y/N when she was hurting in any way.
He came out seeing her sitting down with Wanda, and it looked like the redhead was doing a good job of counseling her.
He watched carefully as he saw her wipe a tear away milliseconds after it escaped, and he was so close to running and wrapping her in his arms so she could let it all out if she wanted. But he held off when she heard a giggle and a small, but genuine, laugh at something Wanda said.
Straining his ears, he faintly heard something about being overwhelmed and nervous about the changes that she knew were to come. His heart hurt at that.
She deserves joy and happiness. Not the stresses of getting everything right, when it was far from possible to do that. But she always has wanted so much for their country, and she would stop at nothing to get just that.
Zoned out in thinking of ways to help Y/N feel more at home, he didn’t notice that they were moving his direction now. He quickly slipped behind one of the giant pillars out of view from them, but was still able to see a little of them with the limited moonlight showing.
She stopped, looking out into the field. Steve stopped and looked out following her eye line, and it hit him.
Anytime she felt overwhelmed and needed a sense of calmness, and the library was too full, she would go into the field of wildflowers in the forest closer to the back of the kingdom. No one bothered her out there because it was hard to find her. She knew the spots and tree covers that kept her out of sight from anyone trying to bring her back home. Steve was one of the two people who knew those spots too. Her mother being the other. Even Wanda and Nat didn’t know about those places.
That’s what she wanted. A sense of serenity in the moments of up and down chaos. Those flowers pulled to her, and Steve could feel it. He had the same kind of pull to her. He smiled slightly at the field before turning to her. He watched as she looked up at the moon, gave a subtle smile, closed her eyes taking in the night's energy, and turned back inside.
Once she was inside, he snuck out of his place and placed his hands on his belt. Turning back to the field, a spark in his eyes shined in the low light.
_______
More time went by of greeting people here and there, but Wanda kept her promise of dragging Y/N out of those conversations, and the second half of the party actually was fun for her. She drank, got a little tipsy, but not enough to draw attention, just enough to relax the nerves. She caught up lightly with her friends seeing that they really hadn’t changed much. Just had more experience in this thing called life, but still the goofy loons they were. Steve was the only one who was gone the whole time, and never showed his face after that dance.
Eventually the feeling of exhaustion hit her full on and she placed a hand on Nat’s shoulder.
“I think I need sleep.” Y/N whisper shouted.
“I think you do too. Ready to call it a night?” Nat said supporting her friends weight.
Y/N nodded resting a tired head on her shoulder, but still swaying slightly to the calm music that took over the atmosphere.
“Do you ladies need an escort to your rooms?” Bucky asked Y/N and Nat both.
“I think we got it, but thanks boys.” Nat said positioning herself to get a better grip on the Princess.
“You’re sure?”
“It’s a 5 minute walk and there are guards lining the halls. I think we can make it.” Nat winked.
“Ok Miss. Headstrong woman.” Bucky taunted before leaning Nat’s way. “Goodnight my dears. May sleep come easy for you all.” he bowed, Clint and Sam do as well.
“Night dorks.” Wanda laughs through her nose since he was being so formal when that was far from what their group was like.
The boys laughed and waved the three girls off who smiled and tiredly made their way through the crowd back to Y/N’s room.
_____
“Rise and shine my dear!” Tony’s voice resonated throughout the room.
The curtains were pulled open abruptly bringing in the morning light as bright as ever. Y/N let out a groan at the sudden change, and threw herself under the blankets.
“That’ll do ladies.” Tony instructed the maids who opened the curtains and then he moved to the end of Y/N’s bed sitting on the edge. “Bug. You have to get up. I know you had a long night, but didn’t they teach you about starting your day early? It’s almost 8!”
“They didn’t host Tony Stark parties every night dad. Makes it a lot harder getting around the next day.” she grumbled from under the covers still.
“Yeah. No one can throw a party quite like me, can they?” Tony said looking up as if he were daydreaming about a new party. “That aside!” he said standing and moving to the top of the bed. “We have a loaded schedule today, and you are already an hour late since I was nice enough to give you extra time to rest. You’re welcome.” he said pulling the covers down and moving to the door.
Y/N let out an annoyed groan as she stretched and reached for the thick comforter again.
“Wanda, Natasha, have her down for breakfast in 30 min. You know our schedule for the day so dress her accordingly.” he nodded toward Y/N who managed to hide back under the covers. “Even if you have to drag her out of bed.” he laughed leaving.
Y/N didn’t see anything or anyone in the room because she refused to cast sleep completely out of her head. That is until Wanda peaked her head under the covers as well.
“Hey princess. You ready for a new day?” he said cheerfully.
“No.” Y/N groaned.
“I see the start of the morning is still not a favorite.” Nat’s voice came out.
“We have coffee.” Wanda coaxed.
Shooting up Y/N brushed her hair down.
“Co-Coffee?”
“You act like you’ve been repressed from it for years or something.” Nat laughed pouring a cup, but then sitting it on the vanity in hopes that it would lure the sleepy princess out of bed.
She was right though. The trick worked like a charm, and Y/N slide over to the vanity sitting and then crossing her legs as she grasped the warm mug on both sides encasing it in her grip. She leaned down and took a long sniff of the java and her eyes rolled behind her head practically.
“I have been.” she sighed breathing in another whiff.
“What?” Nat and Wanda gasped shocked.
“I didn’t tell you that? Boarding school didn’t have in imports of coffee beans because they didn’t see them as a necessity. So that means-”
“It’s been 10 years since you had coffee?” Wanda gasped again as Nat moved around to get started on Y/N’s hair.
“Well, Gamora would sneak in some stuff every once in a while, but the stuff was awful. I only drank it to help my fix, but this?” she pointed at her cup closing her eyes again in bliss. “This is heaven compared to that shit.”
“You really are going to need to start watching your language. You don’t want it slipping around your father or another superior.” Nat chasted as she began braiding her now loosely curled hair.
“Right. Sorry. I think I should be good though. I was able to hide it from the teachers. Never got caught other than that one time…”
“Oh do tell.” Wanda said bringing out the dresses and laying them on the bed before going to help with the makeup.
___
30 minutes later of gossip and getting ready for the day, Y/N was ready to head to brunch.
Her dress for the day was one she instantly fell in love with just like last nights. Jay had been busy and all her day dresses were just as stunning as the parties gown.
This one was covered in flowers that varied from blue, red, and yellow. The beige background material was like netting, but still held a modest cover to it. It had a deeper V in the front, and the long sleeves were puffy, but cinched at the wrist. Lastly a slight slit that normally would be looked down on, but it was subtle, and Y/N didn’t care about the status quo looks. She had reasoning behind the slit, and Jay knew those reasons.
It held the princess look, but had a hint of flower child mixed with sultry. Which was exactly what Y/N was.
Her tiara for the day was a simple one since the dress was so eye catching, and who wants a heavy piece of gold on your head dragging you down all day. This one was more of a band than a full tiara. It was made up of golden leaves that formed a circle as each leaf connected. It fit on top, but also came down slightly to push on her forehead. Head jewelry as Wanda called it. And it went perfectly with the elegant braiding style Nat pinned Y/N’s hair in too.
She looked every bit of the Princess who was about to do business for her kingdom.
___
“Glad you can finally join us. You’re late. I said 30 minutes Y/N. It’s been 45.” Tony said standing as his daughter made a way into the room. A smile on his face no matter the annoyance in his voice.
Three other male figures rising at her entrance, but Y/N couldn’t make out their faces from the distance.
“Sorry about that. It’s all on me.” Y/N laughed as she walked. Coming closer to the table she saw Colonel Rhodes, Bruce Banner, and Captain Rogers all staring at her. Seeing the latter made her heart stop, but she quickly composed herself before motioning for them to sit and joining them as well. “But as a wise woman once taught me, ‘A queen is never late. Everyone else is simply early.’” Y/N winked her fathers direction as she sat properly in her chair.
“You’re mother.” Tony said looking down with remembrance and a small laugh came out. “She always knew the right things to say to get herself out of trouble.” he said shaking head and rubbing the stubble on his chin.
“Yes she did, and she did a great job teaching her daughter those very traits.” Y/N said placing a hand on his arm and bringing his attention back to her. He smiled pulling his hand from his chin and placing it on top of hers. “On another note.” Y/N said bringing the attention back to the brunch. “What’s planned for today? Rhodey. Sir Banner. I see you’re both finally home.”
“Yes we are, and might I just say, it is a pleasure to see you again Princess.” Bruce smiled.
“It’s a pleasure seeing you as well Bruce. It’s been far too long.” she smiled back. “How have things been?”
“Oh you know, busy.” Bruce waves off.
“These two have been hoarding themselves in that lab your father has, and tinkering with everything they can.” Rhodey steps in.
“Why am I not shocked?” Y/N says laughing and turning a pointed stare at her father who avoided it. “That is why our kingdom is so high up in our resource of technological needs though. If it wasn’t for their random ideas they get going. We wouldn’t be second in mass production of that area next to Wakanda would we?” she said turning back to Rhodey.
“Eh.” Rhodey groans shaking his head going back to the eggs on his plate.
“Y/N, what are you hungry for? I had the kitchen cook up anything they could find.” Tony smiled.
“Coffee for now will do.” She smiled crossing her hands in her lap.
“Coffee will do?” Tony mocks. “Hear that boys? Coffee will do.” he says getting a few laughs from the men. Steve trying to hide a smirk with the napkin he brought up to his face.
“Excuse me.” Y/N scoffed, but really just laughed through her nose at her teasing father. “What’s so bad about just wanting coffee?”
“It’s just-” he paused gaining his breath back. “You used to eat a 5 course meal at this time practically. We would have to actually pull you from the table so you didn’t explode from the amount of pancakes you could take in.”
“I remember you ate 6 queshes in one serving once. Brought my record to shame.” Rhodey laughed.
“Ok, those were single serving queshes. Not entire ones. It wasn’t that hard.” Y/N shook her head.
“Sure. Keep telling yourself that. I still can’t even get 4 down without wanting to throw up because of how full I am. Single serving my ass. Those ones were meant for at least 3 people.” Rhodey grumbled taking another bite of his meal.
“Well, portions are something that they really focus on at the Academy. I guess my teenage appetite never leaked over into adulthood.” She shrugged grabbing her mug of coffee and sending her father a wink over the rim.
He laughed before patting his thigh and turning back to the matter at hand.
“Well, how much we can eat aside, Y/N, we have quite a bit for you to learn today, but we’re going to start with just giving you a tour so you can meet the staff, and everyone else who lends a hand on the castle grounds. As you know, within 10 years we have gained new colleagues.” he nods toward her.
“Hmmm,” she hums putting the drink down. “Natasha was telling me about some new laws and regulations you are thinking about putting into play. She wasn’t specific about any, but I would love to hear about those as soon as possible.”
“Right. Those are some more changes that we will get to. First,-” he turned to the doors that opened quickly and one of the messengers came flooding in. Everyone turned with him seeing the urgency in the young man's face. He quickly ran to Tony’s side and whispered something in the kings ear. Tony let out an annoyed sigh before standing, and everyone followed. “It looks like I have some matters to attend to in the Lab. Banner, Rhodey come with me.” He nods.
“What about our planned day today Father?” Y/N asked catching her father before he could go too far.
“I’m sorry bug. I’ll have to reschedule. This new project is really big, and can be a major key in keeping our kingdom safe and flourishing.” he said with sorrowful eyes. “I hope to have it fixed and back on the roll before dinner, but if not then I’ll see you tomorrow for sure.”
“But-”
“I’m sorry. This isn’t how I wanted your first full day back to go.” he leaned down giving her a soft kiss on the forehead and looking back at Steve. “Steven, have Sam and Bucky accompany you all on your tour today. It’ll give you all a chance to catch up too. That way she’s has some chance to get things back to normal.”
Y/N turned back to Steve seeing him nod and bow at her father, but what she didn’t see was her father send Steve a very keen and almost threatening look. There was something he was telling Steve to be careful about that Steve knew exactly what it meant, but Y/N was completely oblivious to.
“Yes sir.” Steve said.
“Keep her safe too.” Tony added walking toward the doors.
“Always.” Steve said to himself, but still out loud.
Y/N watched until her father was completely out of the room before turning to the blonde.
“So, uh, I guess it’s just you and me for now.” she said straightening her dress and posture.
“I guess so.” Steve smiled softly to reassure her, but also happy that he was spending time with her. Then again, Tony’s look brought his smile back down as he thought about how he couldn’t make the step he wanted. Tony would never allow it. “If you’re done with breakfast, we can head to the target zone. Clint, Sam, and Bucky should be there practicing, and we can start our tour there.”
Y/N looked down at the half drank coffee, and saw the platter of freshly baked muffins next to it.
“You’re allowed to eat if your hungry.” Steve spoke up. “I heard they feed tiny portions at the boarding school.” he said when he saw her confused face. “You don’t have to be all fancy with me. I’ve seen the real you and I like her. She deserves to live a little.” he smirks in a friendly manner.
Besides Y/N wanting to hate him for a lot of things, she was relieved at his ease around her. Everyone else wouldn’t stop talking about how much she’s changed, and how much of a lady she is and how great it is to watch her like that. But Steve helped her feel confident in her old self too. Nothing wrong with being a proper princess, but having a small wild side too, right?
“I guess one won’t hurt.” she shrugged grabbing the oversized muffin and a napkins before following Steve.
“One could never. Now 6 queshes-?” he said sending her a snarky look with a pulled up grin.
She playfully pushed his shoulder as they walked and let out a laugh before grabbing a piece of the top of the muffin.
“They weren't that big!” She laughed and Steve remembered how much he enjoyed that laugh. He had wanted to hear it for so long. Hell, since the minute he left her balcony that night. He already missed it then.
“Big or not. 6 things of eggs? How did your stomach not explode?” he said folding his hands behind his back and looking down at her by his side as she focused on the pastry.
“Stomach’s made of iron. Dad’s got it too.” she said looking up, sending a wink.
Steve didn’t know how to react to the small motion, but it sent butterflies throughout his chest. Did she mean to wink at him? Was she being more like her old self and less cut off from him? Maybe this day wouldn’t be as tension and awkward filled as he thought.
“So what’s everyones’ new positions? I know you're the Captain of our forces, like your father once was.” Y/N said looking forward after chewing a piece of the top of the muffin. “Bucky’s second in command. No shock there.” she nodded.
“Sam’s our hand to hand combat leader, and intelligence force. He scouts out the field with some new technology your father made that helps him see miles around. He was one of the only people who got a grip on the tech, so I made him head of command for that.” Steve continued.
“Let me guess. Clint is located somewhere close to the weaponry?” she said with a slight smirk looking from the corner of her eye before taking another bite.
“He never misses. Who else would I want teaching the rest of the cadets how to shoot and work their weapons?” Steve said with a smile in his voice still looking her way.
“Is he still attached to that bow and arrow?”
“Can’t seem to push him another direction.”
“Sounds about the same as it was 10 years back.” Y/N chuckled.
The rest of the walk was filled with shockingly comfortable silence. Y/N took in her surroundings as if it were all new territory, and ate the rest of the muffin. Steve did the same as her taking in his surroundings since he was always on high alert, but he also made sure to take the time and study Y/n.
The dress she was wearing hugged her perfectly in all the right places. The flowers reminded him of the flowers she looked at the night before, and how they were kinda like her in the sense that they were wild, but still found grounding in in the kingdom and in certain spots in her life. Steve had never noticed how perfect her skin tone was either. Especially with the sun hitting her face as if it was made to just shine on her. Hence the nickname, Sunshine.
Yep. She was definitely the sunshine everyone needed. Steve especially.
“Bucky!” Y/N shouted forward, making Steve snap out of his daydream and turn to where she was looking.
Ahead was Bucky and Sam watching Clint give archery lessons to some of the new trainees.
Bucky spun around at the sound, and him and Sam sent the princess wide grins.
“Look who came to visit!” He said unfolding his arms and stretching them out as he walked toward the other pair.
Once they were a few feet apart, Y/N closed the gap between the two, and gave Bucky a hug that she wasn’t able to fully give the night before. This one was more sentimental and showed how much she missed her old and very close friend.
After she pulled back she noticed Sam had the same open arms and sped over to give him a warm hug as well. All Steve could think from the sidelines was; where was his hug? He never got one of those.
“It’s Sergeant Barnes here Princess. Can’t let the cadets know I’m a softy when it comes to you.” Bucky winked as the two men remembered how they should bow before hugging.
“Right. We’re in the work place.” Y/N smiled and winked back before crossing her arms back in front. “What exactly are we training for today?” she said looking beyond them where Clint finished helping one trainee, and then turned to wave before going back to the next.
“Barton’s teaching them how to shoot a moving target. We got the aim down for standstill, but now they need to know how to pinpoint the harder targets.” Sam answered as they all came and stood in a line watching them work.
Steve next to Y/N, Bucky next to Steve, and Sam on the other side of Y/N. The 10 or so cadets not even realizing that high ranking knights as well as the Princess where just 20 yards away.
“Hmmm, and how are they doing?” she asked never looking away.
“So far, not too bad. We have a few stragglers, but nothing a few more extra sessions couldn’t fix.” Bucky answered this time.
“Well let’s see for ourselves.” Y/N said straightening and moving toward where Clint was helping someone straighten their elbow. The boys following.
“Ok, now breathe and focus on where they’re going to be next.” Clint instructed before taking a step back.
The trainees shot after a few seconds of centering themselves, and was able to clip what they were aiming for, but not hit it head on.
“Close, but-”
“But you’re propping your elbow last second without knowing it.” Y/N interrupted.
Now they knew someone was there, because when everyone including Clint turned at the sound of the voice, they went wide eyed and scrambled to bow.
“Princess. I wasn’t sure if you would come check in with us, or if you were stopping by for a second before moving on.” Clint bowed with a smirk before coming up as the others stayed down.
“Now who in their right mind would miss an archery lesson with you?” she responded elegantly.
Clint just laughed and Bucky, Sam, and Steve just smiled at each other before turning back to her.
“Getting the tour today I see,” Clint responded after a while.
“Yes. But if you don’t mind, I would like to give a quick tip to this kind individual,” she said nodding to the one who had just shot last.
Everyone's head rose slowly as they went to a soldier's positions, but keeping their focus on the princess.
“Soldier Nicholes?” Clint asked with a raised eyebrow. “I mean sure, but what do you know about-”
Y/N simply walked past Clint before he would finish the sentence and walked over to the young man who now looked horrified that he was about to get yelled at.
“Nicholes, correct?” She asked.
“Y-Yes, your highness.” he responded looking back and forth between her eyes for anger or disappointment, but finding neither.
“What’s your first name dear?” she asked with a soft smile.
“Uh, Joseph ma’am. Joseph Nicholes.” he responded.
“May I see your bow, please?” she said extending her hand. He looked down at it with a raised eyebrow, and carefully handed it to her. “Thank you.” she smiled walking past him and to the shooting post.
Steve and the boys shared a far confused look with each other completely taken aback from her motives. Each of them taking steps to get a closer look to what she was up to.
“Joseph, you made a simple mistake that I made my first time doing this activity. Last minute before you shoot, you tense at the idea of shooting without knowing it, and your elbow rises causing you to miss just slightly.” she explained putting an arrow in the bow and rolling her shoulders back. “Watch how I ease my elbow first, and then focus on it as I shoot. Not too much, but enough to not tense.” she said turning back to the range.
The boys all shared another bewildered look and took another step forward. Clint closest to really see is she was doing it right.
Watching the range she saw the moving targets pop up, and found the pattern. Taking a deep breath and pinpointing the spot she ease back like she instructed, and the arrow went flying. Everyone watched as if it were in slow-motion, and an audible gasp came out of everyone's mouth.
Y/N looked out to the target seeing she had hit it straight on the bullseye. Turning her head to the side with a proud smile, she walked back to the awestruck men and handed the bow to Joseph who was too shocked to move.
“See? Focus on that and you’ll be shooting like Sir Barton over there.” she said putting her hands back in front.
No one talked. No one knew what to say. A Princess shooting perfect shots with a weapon? It couldn’t be, could it? Surprise, surprise it can. Don’t act too shocked.
Steve, Bucky, Sam, and the rest of the soldiers all had their jaws to the ground. Clint the only one with a smirk not too surprised like the rest.
“What?” she shrugged looking over the men, who quickly picked up their jaws and tried to tear their eyes from her, but couldn’t seem to.
“How did you-” Steve started.
“Where did you learn-” Buck said same time.
“That was, uh-” Sam stuttered as well.
All three men murmuring under their breaths and clearing their throats.
“Well, unlike the rest of these pinheads, I’m not that shocked.” Clint said walking over and giving her a sweet hug. “Let’s be honest, you guys can’t be that surprised that Y/N learned some things. She was gone 10 years!”
“But-” Bucky started.
“You did learn that at the academy, didn’t you?” Clint continued turning to her.
“Hmm Mmm,” She hummed with a proud smile. “Every royal there taught the others a skill or skills that their countries were known for so that we could learn better of the other cultures. I learned that from the Valkyrie.” she said turning to the men. “You don’t even know the other tricks I have up my sleeve from Hilde. She taught me quite a few things. Things that I hope to implement into our own home if Father will allow it.”
“Such as?” Sam asked with a quirked eyebrow.
“You’ll have to wait for that surprise.” She winked.
“Figures.” Bucky chuckles.
“Hey, I have to get back to the group, but we’ll see you around soon, right Y/N?” Clint said pulling the Princess’s attention back to him.
“For sure. You keep up your training.” She turned to the herd of knights in training and they all bowed again. “From what I can tell, things seem to be going well. Keep listening to Sir Barton here, and you all will be prepared for anything.” She grinned, turning to the younger of the group who she had just helped. “Joseph, fix that elbow and you’ll be golden.”
“Yes, your majesty.” he bowed a second time.
“Please, call me Y/N. Never cared for the formal names.” she waved off with a sweet smile, that pulled a smile of his own out of the nerves. “Shall we gentleman? I know we have a lot more grounds to cover today.” Y/N said turning to the three men who would be stuck with her the rest of the evening before walking through them and continuing the tour ahead of them.
Steve and his other friends watching before they followed.
“Not much has changed, but I got to say,” Bucky spoke up and brought a hand down on Steve’s shoulder. “Whatever the hell happened to her at that school, I like it.”
“Agreed.” Sam spoke up.
“Is it possible for someone to become more badass, crazy, and intense as she did?” Bucky continued.
“Didn’t think so, but I’m learning new things every second with her.” Steve scoffed with a grin on his face. “Come on. She’ll keep going without us if we don’t catch up now.” he said with an admirable smile as he quickened his pace to catch up with Y/N. Bucky and Sam a few steps behind sharing yet another knowing glance at each other.

Can’t we be seventeen
Summary: This is the story of the future king ben’s little sister. A princess who is quite different from the others. While the other princess's would wear pastel colors she wore dark colors. While the others trying to find their true love she was worried about the future of the kingdom. Not that she didn’t want to find her true love because she did. She just wasn’t sure if her true love was in the kingdom or the isle of the lost.
Well today was the day. The day of Ben’s Coronation. I was in my room getting my dress on. Mom and Dad had already left so neither of them had seen my dress yet. Luckily Mrs. Potts was helping me with my dress. “Oh dear your Mother and Father are going to love your dress.” Mrs. Potts said as buttoned up the back of my dress. “Are you sure even after I tell them who made it.” I said. “Of course not sweetie.” Mrs. Potts said as she patted my shoulder once she got done buttoning up my dress. I nodded. “Come on now giving me a smile.” Mrs. Potts said as she put my tiara on my head. I gave her a smile. “Now there’s that beautiful smile of yours.” Mrs. Potts said as Ben walked in my room. “Come on Y/n it’s time to go.” Ben said. I nodded and started to walked towards him. “See you later Mrs. Potts.” I said. “Bye dears.” Mrs. Potts said as she waved at us. Ben hooked his arm with mine and we made our way out of the house to the carriage that was waiting on me. “You look beautiful mom and dad will love your dress.” Ben said as he helped me onto the carriage. “You really think so?” I asked. “Am I ever wrong?” Ben said as my carriage staring moving. I leaned back and let out a sigh as I slowly started to come in view of the people of Auradon started to come into my view. I put on a smile as I stared to wave at them. Most were either waving flags or throwing flower petals. The carriage soon came to a stop in front of the church. A boy about my age held a hand out to me to take as I climbed down from the carriage. “Thank you.” I said. He smiled at me and gave me a nodded. I picked up my dress and I started to climb up the stairs to meet mom and dad. When I reached them mom had her hands to her mouth with tears in her eyes. “Do you like my dress mom?” I asked. “Oh I love it baby.” Mom said as she wrapped her arms around me tightly hugging me. After she hugged me I turn to look at dad. “What about you do you like my dress daddy?” I asked. “You look as beautiful as your mother did when she wore the dress.” Dad said as he too hugged me and kissed my head. It wasn’t long after that Ben and Mal came and joined us. Mal was wearing a beautiful light purple dress that Evie also made. When the two joined us Mal bowed to both me and Mom. Then she turned to Dad. “About the other day I just.” Mal said. “I told Ben this wasn’t going to be easy.” Dad said. “You also taught me that a king has to believe in himself. Even when it isn’t easy.” Ben said. “I did?” Dad asked. Mom playfully hit his arm. “I.. How very wise of me.” Dad said. “Ben we are very proud of you. You keep listening to your heart.” Mom said stepping forward grabbing Ben’s hands. “Thanks mom.” Ben said as mom let go of his hands. “You’re going to make a fine king.” Dad said as he patted Ben’s shoulder. “Good luck bro. Don’t fall on your face.” I said laughing a little. “Gee thanks sis.” Ben said. I smirk as mom, dad and I walked away from Mal and Ben into the church.
Mom, Dad and I were in our seats and stood up as we watched Ben walk in walking towards us. Fairy Godmother made her way towards us giving mom and I a kiss on the cheek and bowed at dad before taking the crown off of dad’s head and going over to Ben as he kneeled on the steps. Fairy Godmother placed the crown on Ben’s head and then went to go get her wand. Mom stood on one side of Ben while Dad and I stood on the other. “Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?” Fair Godmother asked. “I do solemnly swear.” Ben said. “Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king.” Fairy Godmother said as she touched the wand to both of Ben’s shoulders but when she brought the wand back Jane walked up and yanked to wand out of her hands. As Jane started to fight against the power of the wand trying to control it Dad pushed me behind him to protect me. I watched as Jane shot the wand towards the sky trying to control its power. “Child what are you doing?” Fairy Godmother yelled as she made her way over to Jane. “If you won’t make me beautiful I’ll do it myself!” Jane yelled as she still was fighting the power of the wand. Ben rushed over to Mal to protect her and Dad was now not only shielding me from what was happening but mom and Fairy Godmother as well. “Bibbidi- Bobbidi-Boo!” Jane yelled. But nothing happened. “Take cover!” Dad yelled as everyone tried to shield themselves from what was happeing. Then Mal ran over and tried wrestle the wand away from Jane. “Careful Mal!” Mom yelled. She finally did and Jane rushed away to go get behind Lonnie. Mal looked almost in tears as she held the wand in front of her and Ben slowly walked towards her. “Mal give me the wand.” Ben said. “Stand back.” Mal said as Carlos, Evie and Jay came running in and to Mal’s side. “It’s okay.” Ben said. “Ben I said stand back!” Mal yelled. “I told you so!” Audrey yelled. “Shut up Audrey! For once in your life shut up!” I yelled. Mal turn to Audrey making her scream. “Let’s go!” Carlos said. “Revenge time.” Jay said. “You really want to do this? Ben asked. “We have no choice Ben! Our parents.” Mal said. “Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours. Mal looked over to me, mom and dad I softy shook my head the she looked to Fairy Godmother who had her hands over her heart. “I think I want to be good.” Mal said, “You are good.” Ben said. “How do you know that?” Mal yelled. “Because. Because I’m listening to my heart.” Ben said. “I want to listen to my heart too. And my heart is telling that we are not our parents.” Mal said as she let the wand fall to her side. I smiled as I put my head on Dad’s shoulder. Mal turned to look at Evie, Carlos and Jay. “I mean stealing things doesn’t make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy. And you scratching Dude’s belly makes you happy. Who would’ve thought? And Evie you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart. And I don’t want to take over the world with evil. It doesn’t make me happy. I want to go to school. And be with Ben. Because Ben makes me really happy.” Mal said as she turned back around to show that she was wearing Ben’s ring. I couldn’t help but slightly happily jump up and down. “Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things. I choose good guys.” Mal said as she turn back to face Evie, Carlos and Jay outstretching her fist. “I choose good too.” Jay said as he joined Mal. “I choose good.” Evie said doing the same. “So just to be clear we don’t have to worried about how really mad our parents will be? Because they’re really really going to be mad.” Carlos said making everyone laughs. “Your parents can’t reach you here.” Ben said. “Okay then. Good.” Carlos said as he joined the others. Mal looked at Ben motion of him to join them which he did. Then Mal looked at me. “Come on.” Mal said letting me know that she wanted me to join them also. I looked at mom and dad who nodded letting me know that it was okay. I picked up my dress as I walked down the step standing in between Mal and Jay as I put my fist in with the others.
Then the crowd started to clap only for it to be stopped by a loud sound as green smoke entered the church. I rush beck over to mom and dad getting behind dad while Ben went over to protect mom. Maleficent appeared out of the green smoke. “I’m back!” Maleficent yell. “It can’t be. Go away mother.” Mal said. Maleficent just laughed. “She funny. Oh. I’m so. You’re very funny here. Wand me. Chop-chop.” Maleficent said and snorted. “No!” Ben yelled as Mal threw the wand to the Fairy Godmother. “Bibbidi- Bobbidi.” Fairy Godmother said as she waved to wand. “Boo.” Maleficent said as it all went black.
I let out a gasp as I hear Ben let out a roar running towards Mal who stopped him as mom rush over to check on me and dad. “Okay okay. We kind of got this all wrapped up here.” Mal said. “Oh.” Dad said as mom fixed his glasses. “Yeah let’s go.” Mom said. The three of us walked down the steps as Ben picked Mal spinning her around. “Next time I rescue you okay? “Ben asked. “Yeah. Let’s not let there be a next time okay?” Mal said hugging Ben then moving his crown to the side slightly as she let out a laugh. “I will be right back.” Mal said as she walked over to Jane and Fairy Godmother. I went over to see if everyone else was okay and they were. “Hey! Careful! That’s my mom!” Mal said as one of the guards put the glass case that held Fairy Godmothers want over the lizard that was now Maleficent. He bowed to Mal who do the same back. Mal came over to where the rest of us were as Jay wrapped his arms around us. “Well let’s get this party started!” Jay yelled happily. “Ohayohay hey!” We all sung out loud. We all went back to our house where the after party was taking place. Evie made my dress where I could easily take the bottom off where the dress now stopped at my instead of being floor length. Which made it much easier to dance and sing with the others. I was having the time of my life but at the same time couldn’t help but feeling like a piece of me was missing but I couldn’t figure out what that piece was. It wasn’t until the fireworks show as I looked around to see that everyone had a date with them but me.

The Padackles Link-Chapter 11
Chapter 10 Danneel Ackles is a conniving, devious shrewd!
I find this out soon after leaving the doctor’s office. She immediately calls Jay to tell him the news. But instead of letting him know the gender also, she gets a sinister smile on her face as she says, “I've decided to not let anyone know until you are home for break.” And, apparently, that included her husband.
So, yes, Danneel Ackles is a conniving and devious shrewd. But I say that in a loving friendly way.
Dani and I enjoy the rest of the day at the local mall, the same one we had roamed over a year ago when we met. This time though we are both alert and watchful for anyone who looks like a fan or paparazzi because the items we are shopping for would definitely give away that she is pregnant with a girl.
At the food court, we run into some fans who requests pictures and autographs from my friend as I sit back and observe the madness that is her life. She takes it all in stride, agreeing to posing for selfies and signing anything that is placed in front of her.
While she is entertaining the crowd, I feel my phone buzz in my pocket. I slide it open to see a text from Jay.
I giggle to myself as I watch Dani stroll my way, almost salivating at the array of food we had ordered.
“I'm starving!” She proclaims as she sits in the chair across from me.
“Well we have a lot of food so you'll be satisfied shortly,” I say, reaching for the burrito I ordered.
“Oh I don't know, D. Food isn't exactly what I'm hungry for lately,” she remarks, with a wink and the giggled at my reaction.
I have my burrito held mid-air, mouth open ready for a bite bit I am completely halted in my task. My eyes widen at her. What did she just allude to?
Dani busts out laughing at my reaction. “Oh Drea. I just love you! But no worries, you can't satisfy this hunger I have!”
I close my mouth and grin at her. She loves to catch me off guard with her flippant phrases sometimes. Although she is very pretty and radiant, I just don't swing that way. But I decide to try and give her a taste of her own medicine. “Yea, sorry Dani, I don't think us rubbing against each other will pacify.”
Dan’s mouth drops open but then she smiles that naughty little smile she gets when she knows she's gonna line-up me. “You never know til you try.”
I know my face pales and then turns beet red, I can feel the heat of embarrassment burning my cheeks.
Dani busts out with a loud laugh. “Oh my God! Your, your face….priceless! I'm totally yanking your chain Drea.”
Dani-1; Drea-0.
Gen and Tom join us as we are wandering through our fourth baby store.
“So,” Gen asks as she approaches us. “Tiaras or tackle boxes?”
Dani’s whole face blooms into a smile. “Tiaras.”
Gen squeals gleefully causing other shoppers to look our way. Even Tom in his stroller turns his little head and tries to look back at his mother.
“I’m so excited! All the little dresses and outfits I’m going to get to dress my niece in! Oh my god, I can’t wait!”
Dani laughs at her as she turn back towards the clothing rack we had been browsing. “Well, you have to wait at least a little bit longer. I’m not due for awhile.”
After a day of shopping and picking out little pink bows and clothing and booties, we head back to the Ackles residence to relax and just lounge around. Well, as much lounging around as you can get with a now-mobile toddler. Tom had recently learned how to pull up to furniture and tables and wobble around. The three of us took turns on keeping an eye on the little boy and make sure he didn’t get his tiny hands on anything he shouldn’t and that h didn’t fall and get injured.
“Ugh, how did you do this Gen?” Dani asks out of the blue.
“Do what?” Gen asked, concerned for her friend.
“I got all these hormones and needs and no one here to help,” Dani whined while pouring herself another glass of lemonade.
Gen laughed and answered, “Yea, that is a part of being pregnant while my husband is a million miles away I do not miss! Let’s just say Jared got a lot of late night phone calls and texts. I’m pretty sure he was as miserable as I was.”
“So, you sexted him?” I asked curiously.
“Yes, and calls to him explaining, in vivid detail, what I wished he could be doing to me.”
“Oh my god. Yea, you probably gave him a daily case of blue balls,” I laughed as I toddled behind Tom around the coffee table. “Yea,” she told us. “He told me he jacked off all the time.”
The three of us all laughed loudly which caused Tom to drop to his butt and laugh too. We all laughed even harder at him.
After we all compose ourselves, the three of us sit together on the couch but each were in our own little world. I was thinking of how Chad and I had never had to have the option of not being together and depend on cybersexing one another. When the mood struck one of us, we knew that that evening and night we would be together and be able to fulfill our desires. I actually try to picture sending a dirty text or even a picture to him, but could not imagine doing something that brazen. And then my brain goes back to the moment I had accused him of cheating.
“Hey,” I speak up. “You ever worry that with them being so far away that they’d stray?”
“You mean like cheat?” Gen asks, looking over at me. I nod and wait for their answers.
“Not really,” Gen replies. “I trust Jared with absolute certainty. He has shown me regularly he is not a cheater.”
“I understand that,” I tell her. “But I did accuse Chad of cheating once. He was spending all this time working and was even working on the weekends.”
“Oh honey,” Gen moans, grabbing my hand. “Was he?”
“No, he was actually working toward a pretty big promotion. The one that had us moving to Georgia. I felt like a big idiot when he came home after winning it and told me. Best sex of our lives though,” I laugh as I remember all the ways I made up to him.
Dani has been quiet while listening to mine and Gen’s conversation. She knew all this already. I had told her about the whole fiasco when I broke the news about having lost Chad.
“So you had a good man?” Gen asks me, leaning up with her elbows on knees.
“Yes, the best there ever was. He was a great man, a loving husband. I felt so bad for my doubt,” I answered her honestly. “There was a lot of makeup sex that night. In many, many places.” I chuckle, reminiscing.
I glance over at Dani and can't place the look on her face. Gen notices it too and asks, “What's wrong, Dee?”
Dani looks at us and sighs. “I don't know if this baby is Jay’s,” she blurts out, surprising both Gen and I.

Inverted
This is a repost. I’m bringing my stories to this profile. Previously posted on @nowadaysprincesses
This idea came to me when Zig's makeover was released and someone said that "if he was first presented like that I'd choose him as my LI" or something like that I'll check it later. So I thought "What if Zig was the group mom and mc the new barista?" and here we are. So I hope you enjoy my little Zig x MC (here called Jay) fanfic, and I'll post more chapters soon. This will follows the interactions between them in The Freshman 3, at least for now.

Chapter 1 - Brand new barista
“Mom, have you seen my sneakers?” Jay said, looking under her bed.
“Jay, use the black heels or you’re gonna be late. Oh, and don’t forget to put some make up!” Her mother said, catching an apple from the kitchen table and leaving to work.
“Mama, I’m going to work, not to a party!” Jay said to the door closing. Her mother put her head inside. “Just today, baby! You need to make a good impression on your first day!” She said, winking, and closed the door.
Jay tried for a couple minutes to find the sneakers. Soon giving up, she put the heels, a little make up and went out.
Arriving at the Northbridge train station a moment too late, she runned unsuccessfully to get into the train. Sadly she watched the door closing in front of her. Dammit, late at the first day. This is so great, Jay.
An hour later, Jay arrived at work. Coming into the coffee shop, she looked at the counter and calmed down: Her boss was nowhere on sight. The only person behind it was Brandon, the guy that was about to leave - and she was the one designed to take his place.
“Hey Brandon, hope I’m not too late! I lost the train.” Jay said, making a sad face. “It’s ok, at least for now your shift will be at night, today is just for training. Grab your apron and let me teach you how this stuff works.” He pointed around to the whole place. “Hope you come to like this place as much as I do.”
“I hope so.” Jay said, smiling.
————————————
As the days passed by, Jay got more and more used to working as a barista. It was good that she started at the school break, so the shop wasn’t crowded and she had the chance to learn the place’s routine without people bursting in every second.
Also, the friendship between Jay and Brandon grew fast. Since he was the one that was training her, he becomes a constant person in her life, and soon he was her friend. She wasn’t used to have friends anymore. People normally don’t like to be friends with a time bomb like her. Eventually she turned the friendships a huge mess. But Brandon saw past it. They used to talk about almost everything, and even having just a couple things in common at the surface, deep down both were good friends to each other.
Unfortunatelly for her, Brandon left to Peru. The day he left she went to the airport to say goodbye. There, she finally met Zack, Brandon’s boyfriend. They were such cuties together! Zack cried like a little child, and even hugged Jay after saying the last goodbye to Brandon at the gate. Jay didn’t kept contact with him, but Zack seemed to be a good guy too.
————————————
A few days later the spring quarter started. She was still adapting with the sudden movement of these days. Since the job hadn’t a dress code, she always dressed up as the rocker she was, but tried to be as collected as possible when dealing with the customers. That was mostly to not lose her temper (and keeping the job). Because of that ‘cold’ attitude, some students started to call her Ice Jay. It didn’t matter to her, truly. At least they seemed to know who they were dealing with.
Every day people were scheduling activities at the coffee shop. That day was a small gig from a punk band. Finally something interesting, she though, although a coffee shop wasn’t exactly a matching place to this kind of music.
Jay was cleaning the counter as a group of students walked into the shop. One of them was Zack, Brandon’s boyfriend. She gave him one of her rare smiles and looked to his friends.
Her eyes stopped at a really handsome guy. Black hair, bright brown eyes and a little lazy and provocative smile at the corner of his mouth. He looked at her and Jay knew she had to meet the guy. Nice thing that I kept using those heels to work, she though. He was so tall. Unfortunately, he broke eye contact, talking again with his friends.
“Hey Dany, do you know who’s the McDreamy over there?” Jay asked to the other barista, making a small motion to point the direction.
Dany studied the group. “Which one? Because all of them are snacks to me.” Jay looked at them, half of the group choosing a table near the windows and the other moving to wait in line to be attended. “Tall, black hair, tan skin and 100% perfection”, Jay said. Dany focused on him. “Oh, that’s Zig. The only thing I know about him is that he lives with Zack and Kaitlyn, so I suppose that he’s also a freshman. I’ve seen him here a couple times, but always at the morning shift.”
Jay listened, still looking at him. Dany gave a small laugh. “Girl, you’re almost drooling all over the place.”
“Look, I’m not gonna marry the guy. I’m just wondering what’s going on under that shirt. Besides…”
“It’s pretty hard not to notice her. She’s beautiful.” At the other side of the shop, Zig looked again at the infamous new barista that Kaitlyn pointed. She was still looking at him, and as soon as he looked at her, she gave him a smirk.
Abbie sighed. “Wow, what is with this place and photogenic baristas?” Tyler made a strange face. “I don’t know, she seems like trouble to me.” Kait laughed of them. “Well, she may be trouble, but I can bet that she’s head over heels for you Zig. She’s totally checking you, all this time!” Kaitlyn said, still smiling.
Zig thought he remembered her face from somewhere, but wasn’t sure. “She seems to be an interesting girl.” The girl had a mysterious aura around her. She had a curly black hair in a loose ponytail, a bandana tied as a tiara and she was also using a dark makeup, maybe because of the gig. She kept looking at him, while talking with the other barista. Maybe he was the subject of their conversation? No, probably not, Zig thought.
Zack saw her and give her a nod. Then started speaking and Zig turned his attention to him. “That’s Jay. I’ve met her at the airport when Brandon left. She’s cool. Kinda creepy, but cool.”
“I guess I’ll try to talk to her later.” Zig said, and they changed subject.
Zig had to admit that coming to Natasha’s gig wasn’t exactly in his plans, but Kaitlyn insisted. Well, he was starting to think that maybe going to the coffee shop that hour of the day was a good thing.
————————————
The biggest problem Jay had with the customers was learn how to deal with some spoiled brats that used to appear now and then. Most of them thinking that Jay was their own employee, and not from the coffee shop. Some of the students was literally testing her patience.
Well, and the most annoying just entered the shop. He spoke loud, trying to caught the attention of the part of Zack’s group waiting in line. With this, he caught the attention of most of the people inside the shop too.
“Well, if it isn’t Hartfeld’s premiere group of ragtag misfits. I hope I’m not interrupting.” Sebastian said, a maleficent smug on his face. Zack and his friends turned to him.
The girl - Kaitlyn, as Dany told her - answered him, exasperated. “This guy again?” Jay already could see them bringing a discussion to life. She prepared herself to intervene if needed. But soon they calmed down and started to discuss in a moderated tone. She decided to attend the customers, but keeping attention to act at the first sign of trouble.
For a couple minutes everything went well. The group became close of her in line and she eavesdropped what they were discussing. Sebastian said something about having nothing to do with an accident. As they came a step closer, she could listen exactly what they were saying. “So even with all the trouble you created last year, Chris is still stuck with you.” Zig said.
Sebastian smirked. They kept talking and Jay set the conversation aside for a couple minutes to complete an order for her current customer. It was the time necessary for them turn the line into a grenade without a pin, waiting to explode.
Kaitlyn was then facing Sebastian, all of her friends around her. “As long as I remember, you lost pretty hard.” Sebastian was about to lose his temper. “Watch what you say next, girl.” He took a step towards her, and Jay excused herself from the counter and prepared to stop the discussion.
“Whoa, the hell are you thinking, Sebastian?” Zig said, positioning himself between Sebastian and Kaitlyn. He towered over Sebastian, which scared him, making him took a step back. “Look, as much as we enjoy having the pleasure of talking with you, I believe that this discussion is pointless. If you excuse me, I have a couple drinks to buy for me and my friends, and I think you should mind your own business.” He said to Sebastian, with tons of sarcasm.
As Zig motioned to his friends to follow him and walked to the counter, Sebastian sticked out his foot and the other tripped on him, falling to the floor. Jay hurried to them. As Zig’s friends helped him to get up, Jay focused on Sebastian. “Hey, what the hell are you doing, Sebastian? Do you think that this is your playground?” She said, approaching Sebastian from behind, poking his shoulder.
He turned and looked at her, his eyes wild. “Look, one more broken kid to your team, Christopher. Do you guys are auditioning or what?” He said, a smirk slowly creeping up on his face.
“You know very well that I work here, you stupid brat. For now, I must ask you to leave, Sebastian, or I’ll have to call the campus security.” Jay said, one hand on her waist and the other pointing to the front door.
Too much fast to anyone have a proper reaction, he took a step closer to Jay and held her arm tight. “Listen very carefully Jay, I come and go as I please, and not even all the black makeup in the world will make me feel threatened by you!” Sebastian cornered Jay in the nearest table. As someone screamed for Sebastian to left her, Jay acted fast. Groping the table and finding a cup, she threw it’s content in Sebastian’s face. A good old Espresso flowed down his face and chest. “My cashmere sweater!” He screamed, pushing her.
As Sebastian pushed her, Jay knocked off at the table, losing her balance. She tried to regain it but fell to the floor beside it anyway, spraining her wrist in the process. As soon as it happened, Zig and his gang were already beside her, helping her to get up. “You’ll pay for this damage, you crazy girl!” Sebastian said, stomping out of the coffee shop.
“Are you okay?” Zig asked, helping her to plant her feet at the floor. Even with all that happening, Jay couldn’t stop herself of thinking how handsome he was. “Yeah, I guess. Uhhhh!” She felt a sting in her wrist. “My hand! I’m gonna kill that son of a-”
“Jane, come here! We need you behind the counter!” Her boss called from the kitchen’s door. The crazy look in her eyes turned into a polite one. “Excuse-me, I must go. Thank you all for the help, and I hope that Sebastian doesn’t cause you trouble anymore.” She said to them as she left.
————————————
As the group settled by a table, they started chatting about all that happened. But Zig’s mind wandered, thinking how curious that woman was. Stepping up into a fight like that, that wasn’t even hers? That demands courage. His eyes wandered to her again, and he saw her talking with the shop’s manager. He seemed to be angry. Soon she was alone again, looking at her hand.
“Guys, I’m gonna check on her.” Zig said, not waiting for a response. As he approached the counter, she looked at him and gave a weak smile. He took that as a good signal. “So, is my knight in shiny armor hurt?” He asked, a playful smile on his lips.
She scoffed, but couldn’t stop herself from smile. “Yeah, seems like I broke my sword hand.” She said, raising her left hand. He stopped smiling as soon as he saw how swollen her pulse was. “Do you mind if I take a look?” He offered, his voice full of concern. She eyed him suspiciously, but extended her arm over the counter. He touched it slightly, but she winced and he retreated. Right after she extended her arm again, without taking it back. “It isn’t broke, just sprained. You need to put some ice on it and it would be good to use a wrist splint also.” He told her, resuming the improvised exam.
“I should ask you how do you know so much about broken wrists, but better not, right?” She said as she started to put some ice over a towel, clumsily. “Actually I already broke mine twice. Do you wanna help with it?” He asked, pointing the towel while getting behind the counter. “You know what? I need.” She gave him space to finish the improvised ice bag. Then he put it over the inside of her wrist, holding her arm cautiously and settled her arm over the counter, letting the ice bag weight over it.
“So, I think I must say thank you, Mr…” She said, extending her right hand to him. “Zigmund, but you can call me Zig.” He said, shaking hands with her. She smiled. “I’m Jane, But everyone knows me as Jay.”
The conversation extended for a while. He discovered that Jay wasn’t a Hartfeld student and also explained to her about the trouble with Sebastian the previous quarter. Every second in front of Jay made Zig yearn to know more and more about her. As he was leaving back to the table, he remembered. “Hey, can you give me your number?” He asked. “Of course. Give me your phone so I can put it.” While she wrote, she asked for his number too, giving her phone to him.
He saved his number with a heart beside his name, and took a selfie to put as contact image. As she saw it, she laughed. “Aren’t you a flirt, Mr. Zig?” He smirked, leaning against the counter, getting closer to her. “And I’ve been told I’m damn good at it. Is it working?” She laughed again. Getting closer to him, she whispered. “I’m still here, right?” And he whispered back. “Glad to see that I’m not losing my touch, then.”
She took advantage of the proximity and kissed his cheek “Bye, Zig. See you around.” She said, going back to the counter and talking to a customer. “Good evening, how can I help you?” The regal barista was back on her post. Zig made his way back to the table, but his mind was still over that counter.
That girl was poison, and Zig couldn’t wait to taste a little more of it.

“I can't believe you roped me into this,” You sighed as you smoothed out the front of your dress again.
“You love me too much to not do this for me,” Ben smiled down at you lightly.
“You sure about that?” You laughed when your brother scoffed before ruffling your hair. “Hey! I spent an hour fixing my hair!”
“You mean you stalled for fifty minutes then did it in ten because there is no way that took an hour” Ben teased you. He simply laughed when you glared at him. “Besides, you love doing this”
You smiled, confirming his statement. You had been the first one he told when he decided he wanted to start bringing kids over from the Isle of the Lost. You were actually the one who helped him decide which ones to bring over first. And now that more were finally coming he had made it your job to get them all properly assimilated.
Pretty soon the limo pulled up to the school and they received the same welcome Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos had when they first arrived with the band playing and the streamers, the whole works. Slowly six people exited the car and you and Ben followed Fairy Godmother to greet them. You stood silently, watching as Fairy Godmother introduced herself to them. When Ben stepped forward you followed his lead.
“It’s so great to finally have you all here,” Ben smiled genuinely. “I’m Ben and this is my sister-”
“Y/N,” You introduced yourself. “I can introduce myself Ben” You laughed when he rolled his eyes at you. He started giving another speech about this being a ‘momentous occasion’ and how it was ‘the start of a new era’.
“Little over of the top, Ben. Thought you’d learn from last time,” You smiled when you heard one of them whisper ‘see I wasn’t the only one who thought so’. You recognized him and two others from when you were at the Isle, trying to get Ben back. “Unfortunately for us Ben has king duties to tend to so no more exaggerated speeches,” You jumped out of the way before Ben had a chance to do something like the hair thing again. He laughed lightly as he shook his head at you. “But lucky for the six of you I am free as bird so I’ll be taking you on a tour of the school”
“We prefer you over him anyway, Princess”
“I’ll fight you again, Harry” Ben replied mockingly before you had a chance to say anything. Harry simply laughed at the statement.
“Okay, dad,” You motioned for Ben to leave to which he rolled his eyes. “I got it from here”
“Alright, alright. I’m going” Ben gave them one last goodbye before leaving you in charge.
“Now let’s see if I can get this right,” You mused as you look back and forth at the six new students in front of you. “You’re Harry, obviously” Harry bowed in an exaggerated manner. You rolled your eyes at him and handed him one of the bags Ben had left with you. “Which means you’re Uma,” She smirked and you did the same thing right back. “And you’re Gil” You turned to the blonde on the other side of Harry. Now that you were standing right in front of him you were taken aback. The smile on his face was the brightest, most excited you had seen yet. It made you smile softly. His soft brown eyes stared into yours. You saw nothing but joy in them. A second later his smile turned softer and he looked away from you, now nervous. You didn’t comment on it and instead handed him his bag.
“And you must be Dizzy,” You recognized the youngest one immediately. “Evie has told me tons about you. And the tiara you made that I wore to Cotillion was honestly the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen” You laughed when she squealed excitedly.
“I’m so glad you liked it! The princess of Auradon wearing my designs!” You smiled and handed her the bag. “Halley, right?” The girl smiled. There was a twinkle in her eyes and her blue hair moved gently like flames. “And finally,” You turned to the boy he smiled softly as you handed him the last bag. “Freddie”
“Six for six. Pretty impressive, princess” Uma walked towards you first.
“I try,” You shrugged easily and began walking, the six of them following behind you. “I will do you the favor of sparing the boring details that they’ll probably teach you anyway,”
“And I thought I was full of myself,” You heard Harry muse. You turned to see him looking up at the statue of your father. You clapped your hands twice and held back a laugh when he jumped back. Someone else’s laugh however caught your attention. You looked to the right and saw Gil looking from the statue to you with a smile.
“That’s pretty cool,” He admitted to you. You took a small step closer and nodded lightly.
“Something about his transformation from beast to man? It’s supposed to be inspirational but I never really understood” You stepped back and let them wander around the courtyard for a few minutes. You didn’t miss when Gil clapped his hands to try to get the statue to change again. You chuckled softly and walked over to him. “Only works when me or Ben does it,”
He turned to look at you and nodded quickly. “I knew that. I mean I figured”
As hard as you tried you couldn’t stop smiling at him. You figured you probably looked crazy at that point. So instead you led them into the school to continue on with the tour.
“That pretty much does it I guess” You sighed as you brought them back into the main hall. “Doug is your go to guy for your schedules and what not but he is busy helping Evie who is backed up with appointments,” You glanced at the time and gasped lightly. “Which speaking of it’s almost time for mine. But first,” You motioned for one of them to hand you their bag. You managed to hold back a smile that time when Gil stepped forward first. You opened his bag and took out a box with a cell phone in it. “One for each of you, it was my idea,” You smiled and turned on the phone while trying not to pay attention to the fact that Gil was standing close and looking over your shoulder. “You can find your class schedules on here as well as the times and everything. There’s even a couple of people’s numbers in there already,” Your breath caught in your throat when you looked up to see Gil looking directly at you. You lost your train of thought for a second and struggled to come up with a coherent sentence. “I-Including mine. So, uh, feel free to, uh,” You smiled softly and barely managed to remember how to speak. “Call me” You slowly handed him back the phone and the bag. Suddenly you remembered where you were and took a couple steps back. You cleared your throat and chose to ignore the wide smirks coming from every single one of them, excluding Gil who still seemed to be stuck in the same trance you had just been in. “But, uh, yeah. Dorms are that way and you can always contact me or Ben with any questions. I will see you all later but really, Evie will have my head if I’m late again” You waved to them and walked away before they could see the blush form on your cheeks.
“I made a complete fool of myself!” You ranted to Jane and Lonnie. The three of you were sitting in your dorm late that night and you had told them about what had happened earlier. “He’s the definition of dreamy and I probably looked like a complete loser!”
“Okay one, you’re literally the princess of Auradon. Two, I highly doubt he thought anything close to that” Lonnie tried reasoning with you.
“I’m surprised you were so nervous around him,” Jane teased you. “You’re never like that with anybody”
“Wait until you meet him tomorrow,” A small smile grew on your face. “He is literally-”
“Speak of the devil,” Lonnie reached for your phone when the screen lit up. You and Jane both looked over her shoulders to read what she was looking at. Gil’s name had popped up on the screen.
Hey I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind showing me around tomorrow?
“You’re doing it,” Jane and Lonnie said at the same time. You didn’t have time to argue before they started planning out a response.
Yeah of course meet in the dining hall for breakfast?
“Send it,” Jane confirmed and Lonnie easily pressed the send button.
“Thanks for giving me a choice, guys” You rolled your eyes lightly.
“Oh like you would’ve said otherwise” Jane laughed. You had to admit, she had a point. The three of you stared down at your phone when it dinged again.
It’s a date
The two of them squealed excitedly while you were at a loss for words. “It’s a date! See he so likes you!” Lonnie put your phone down as they both smiled at you.
“It may not be a literal date but I mean he’s definitely interested” Jane smiled brightly. You listened as the two of them went on and on about the next morning. All meanwhile you shook your head and did nothing but listen to the two of them.
“You are smitten with the princess!” Harry laughed. He and Gil had finally gotten settled into their dorm and he decided to bring up what was so obvious earlier.
“I am not,” Gil tried arguing, he knew it’d be no use though. Harry could see right through him.
“Oh please,” Harry didn’t hesitate before walking over and snatching Gil’s phone out of his hands. “Watch and learn loverboy. Oh and you're welcome in advance” Gil watched as Harry typed out a message on the screen.
Hey I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind showing me around tomorrow?
“What are you doing?” Gil asked, eyes not leaving the screen as they waited for a response.
“I’m getting you a date” Harry told him easily. It wasn’t long before a soft whoosh signalled a new message.
Yeah of course meet in the dining hall for breakfast?
“It worked,” Gil laughed softly as he stared at your message. “You did it”
“Like I said, you’re welcome” Harry smirked before sending back another response.
It’s a date
“A date?” Gil wondered aloud.
“Not literally, mate,” Harry chuckled softly. “With any luck you’ll be there soon though”
“I can't believe you” Ben shook his head as he lunged at you. You easily blocked him with your own sword as you stepped out of the way. “You went on a date without telling me”
“It wasn't a date” You argued as the sound of metal clashing filled the room. He had managed to escape from everyone looking for him and challenged you to a duel, something the two of you hadn't done in probably months.
“That's not what Mal told me,” He swung again and the sword flew out of your hands. “She said that Evie told her that she heard from Lonnie and Jane that you were out with someone until literally 3 am”
You swung his legs out from underneath him, distracting him just long enough for you to reclaim your sword. “That's an exaggeration. We were back by two”
“How about the night before?” He swore silently when you knocked his sword away from him. “And the one before that. Harry said a certain someone didn't even go back that night. And rumor has it, neither did you. Should I be having a talk with anyone in particular?”
“Are you worried Bennyboo?” You teased him, throwing your sword across the room and swinging a punch in his direction. “I can take care of myself you know”
“I know that,” He mused. “Besides I already talked to Gil about it”
“You what!” You let out a groan when Ben managed to knock you over, his sword back in his hand and pointed at you. You let him help you back up and you slapped his arm. “I can't believe you! What did you say to him!”
“Nothing really” Ben laughed as you kept on swatting at him. The conversation he had had with Gil earlier ran through his head.
“So how's it going so far?” Ben mused as he sat down on the other side of Gil. Harry had gone to get more food and Ben took the chance to walk over to him.
“Pretty good” Gil nodded, hoping Ben wouldn't ask him to elaborate.
“That's good,” Ben stayed silent for a few seconds and came to the conclusion that Gil wasn't going to tell him anything anytime soon. “So I heard Y/N’s been showing you around”
“Uh, yeah. She's, uh, been a lot of help” Gil nodded.
“How was the date last night?”
“It went amazing. We-” Gil stopped when he realized what he had just confirmed. “Shit. I mean it wasn't even really- we just sort of- it's not what it sounds like. I swear-”
“Relax Gil,” Ben laughed lightly. “Not that Y/N cares what I think but if it makes you feel better I think you're pretty cool”
Gil smiled and nodded. He seemed to debate something for a few seconds before looking at Ben again. “Did she tell you?”
“She didn't have to. I noticed” Ben told him honestly. “Did you...want her to?”
“I don't know,” Gil didn't hesitate before admitting it to Ben. “I mean look at who we are. People are going to, you know. Talk and stuff”
“Can I tell you something?” Ben asked, knowing exactly how he could help. “Y/N has never cared what anyone else thinks. Not when our mom told her that she couldn't learn how to fight because she was a princess. Not when everyone else criticized her. Not when our parents tried to talk us out of all of this. I can guarantee you, she won't care at all what other people say about the two of you. Does anyone else know?”
“Harry’s the only other one” Gil told him, too occupied with his own thoughts to explain.
“What are we talking about?” Harry asked as he sat down.
“Not much,” Ben answered immediately. “Actually I have to get going” He stood from his seat and looked at Gil one more time before walking away. “Remember what I told you”
“I swear to god if you messed this up I will-”
“You'll what?” Ben smirked, cutting you off. You simply groaned in annoyance before walking away. “I miss you too, great talk!”
“You suck!” You yelled, not looking behind back at him as you walked away.
You crept through the halls expertly, wanting to get to your destination as quickly as possible. You fussed with your hair and your clothes, trying to make yourself look as decent as possible. A smirk made it’s way onto your face as you thought of what had just happened between you and Gil. Slowly you unlocked the door to your room and walked in expecting to see Jane and Lonnie already asleep. It was quite the opposite. The two of them, along with Mal and Evie, met your eyes with matching incredulous looks.
“Hi” You cursed silently as you closed the door behind you.
“Should we ask where you’ve been or do we not want to know?” Mal mused as you threw your things at the foot of the bed.
“I have a feeling you can figure it out” You said, ignoring their questions as you walked over to your wardrobe and then into the bathroom to change. You looked down at the screen of your phone and slowly reached out to type a message.
Tonight was fun
You clicked the send button before you could think better of it. You finished pulling your pajamas on and your phone dinged right as you were walking out of the bathroom.
I can agree with that
You smiled, blissfully unaware of the expectant looks from each of your friends. You were about to type out a response when another new message popped up onto your screen.
I need to talk to you about something
The smile fell from your face and was replaced by a look of confusion. You stared nervously at the three gray dots signaling that he was typing.
“Earth to Y/N!”
You quickly locked your phone and set it aside before taking a seat on Jane’s bed with everyone else.
“Care to enlighten us on this secret relationship of yours?”
You thought to yourself for a few seconds. Before taking a seat with them. “It’s amazing,” A smile grew on your face subconsciously. “It’s passionate and breathtaking and excited all at the same time. I’ve never felt anything like this before,” You admitted freely. “It’s different in a way that I can’t explain,” You paused looking away from your friends and at the screen of your phone. There was a new message from Gil and you opened it immediately. For a second you were afraid to actually read it. Keeping your relationship a secret was his idea. What we have is special. And I don’t want anyone to ruin it. That’s what he had told you. And you learned quickly that you’d do anything for him and vice versa. You remember being nervous when you finally gathered up the courage to kiss him one night. You remembered the ecstatic feeling when he held you as close to him as possible. Slowly you looked down at the screen of your phone and smiled.
I like you. I really really like. And I don’t want to hide this anymore. I want everyone to know. Anyone who will listen is going to know about us and they’re going to know how much I love you. And I really do mean that.
“Are you planning to tell us who it is?”
Evie’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. Slowly you smiled and nodded at them.
“You will. Tomorrow”
The next morning you were met by a knock on your door just as you, Jane, and Lonnie were finished getting ready. You were stuffing your work into your bag when you heard who it was.
“Gil? Hi” Lonnie sounded confused as she opened the door. You looked over and all but ran in Gil’s direction. You heard the small gasp and squeal that came from your roommates when you reached up and kissed him.
“Good morning to you too I guess” Gil laughed lightly once he set you down. You laughed and reached for your bag.
“We should’ve know, I mean honestly” Lonnie sighed as the four of you walked in the direction of the dining hall for breakfast.
“Now that I think about it, it was so obvious” Jane added.
You could hear the whispers exchanged back and forth between people as you walked down the hall hand in hand. But none of it mattered. The only thing you payed attention to was the smile on your friends faces when they found out. You were happy. Wholeheartedly, genuinely, happy. And no one could take that away in a million years.

Daddy Duties
Simon Dominic (AOMG) x Y/N (Reader) Genre: Family / Romance Count: 2,083 Warning: Fluff Rating: G Requested: By @thessamd and also a few other anons who wanted Simon D fluff! Sorry for the long wait! I hope you all enjoy it :) P.S. I’ve always wanted to call Simon daddy ;) ayeee
"Kisa, come on, baby," Simon urged as gently as he could in his gravely voice. His one and half year old daughter was currently trying to rip off a leaf on the plant in the lobby of the AOMG building. When she didn't budge, he took her tiny fingers in his grasp and lead her down the hall, smiling when the front desk girls cooed at her.
His dark eyes trailed after the little tyke when she unlatched herself from his hands to run down the hall and into an open elevator. Her curly hair was tied in two messy pony-tails, obviously done by none other than himself, and bounced just as she did when the door closed behind him. Her Jordans matched his, as well as their coordinated outfits, which was just light denim jeans and black long sleeves since it was nearing fall. She was babbling in her baby language but when the doors slid open, she was sprinting once again.
Since she was constantly around the building, it didn't take her long to find the room she was looking for. Kisa pushed her small palms against the door, smiling when her father turned the handle for her. Yelling her baby greeting, the two figures sitting in front of the large Mac computer swirled around to face the newcomers.
"Kisa!" Jaebum shouted back, arms scooping her up and snuggling her into his neck. "Hey, cutie pie!"
Kiseok smiled at the display of affection before sitting on the couch against the wall. Seonghwa smirked when he noticed the oldest male's tired slouch, "You look even worse than usual, hyung. Is Kisa giving you a run for your money?"
Definitely not having the energy to argue, he just sighed loudly, "I forgot how tiring kids were. I don't know how Y/N keeps up with her all day."
"That's only because you're old and Y/N is young," he commented with a snicker.
Kiseok glared before focusing back on his co-CEO's intense conversation with his only child. "I can't wait for when you have kids so they can give you hell."
Jay planted her feet on the ground to let her roam around, shaking his hair with one hand, "Kisa isn't bad though. She's really good, actually."
Nodding his head in agreement, Kiseok let his eyes trail on her small form. "She is, but I know nothing about taking care of little girls."
"Isn't Y/N a little girl? You should be an expert th-" Seonghwa couldn't finish his teasing as one of the throw pillows was thrown into his face, causing him to chuckle.
"Shut the hell up, brat."
Interrupting their banter, Jay nodded towards the toddler, "You did her hair this morning?"
"Yeah. Y/N left before Kisa was done with her breakfast so I got her ready. Why?"
"'Cause it looks terrible. Come here, Kisa, Uncle Jay is gonna fix your hair," he beckoned her with a few flicks of his wrist.
Seonghwa chuckled into his hand once again at seeing his hyung's eye roll. Jay took down the pig-tails with a bit of difficulty since they were tangled in her curls before separating her hair down the middle. He pulled her hair into two identical, neat pony-tails and patted the top of her head once he was completed. "See? It's not that hard."
Simon dismissed him with a wave of his hand, "Yeah, yeah. I tried, alright?"
They laughed at his obvious pouting before turning their attention back to the toddler, who was pressing keys on the switchboard with her chubby fingers. After visiting with a few of her favorite uncles, it was time for them to get some lunch, so without much convincing, all four of them (plus Hyukwon and Hoody) decided to go grab a bite. Kisa was shoving fists full of spaghetti in her mouth, half of it missing completely and ending up on her shirt, when Kiseok's phone rang. He picked it up, balancing it between his ear and shoulder while he attempted to wipe his daughter's pasta covered mouth over her whining.
"Hey, baby, how's everything?" Your sweet voice was music to his ears.
Upon hearing you, his lips curled into a smile, ignoring the fact that Kisa was slurping noodles at this point. "Hey, yeah, we're doing fine. Kisa is...eating right now."
"Great! I was just calling to check in. We're at the resort now, checking in and all that. Oh! You gave Kisa her cold medicine at eleven, right?"
For a brief moment, his dark eyes grew wide before quickly coughing in his closed fist. Fuck, he totally forgot about the medicine! It was already almost one in the afternoon too. Hoody, who was across from him, raised an eyebrow before helping Kisa grab her sippy cup full of water. "O-Oh, yeah, I did but she doesn't look sick to me..."
He heard you huff from the other side before reprimanding one of your friends, "Yah, turn the key the other way. Babe, she needs to finish the medicine to make sure her cold is gone. Doctor's orders. Shit, Taeyeon-ah, I need to pick up the cake for tonight- I'll call you later, okay? Remember Kisa needs another dose around five today! Bye, love you!"
Kiseok didn't bother to say bye as he heard the dial tone before grabbing the device and setting it down. Hoody gave him a questioning look, which he tried to ignore. After a few seconds, he leaned forward so she could hear him over the ruckus of the restaurant, "Is it bad that I forgot to give Kisa her medicine at eleven?"
His answer was a small chuckle and a quick head shake. At her lack of response, Kiseok sighed before leaning back, taking in how his daughter grabbed fist fulls of pasta and proceeded to shove it in her mouth. Of course, majority of the noodles slipped passed her chubby fingers, creating a huge mess all over her as well as the table and floor. It's going to be a long two days without you.
The second day went a little more smoother for the clueless dad. He took your advice and decided to take Kisa somewhere educational but also fun, not that the studio wasn't fun but it wasn't as educational as Jay proclaimed it to be. They spent the day at the zoo and had a great time. She was a little scared of the bigger animals like the elephants but she was brave and didn't let that fear get in the way of marveling at the creatures. He spent the time following after her, recording her on his Instagram and Snapchat as well as sending you and the rest of his family three minute long videos of her pointing and running around. He even took a selfie with her eating her ice cream under an umbrella, her wide smile flashing the pink of the strawberry dessert to the camera.
By the time they got home, Kisa was knocked out in her car seat, snores coming from her deep sleep. As he carried her into her room and tucked her in, Kiseok called it a successful day. However, as he walked into the living room, he couldn't help but groan. He forgot to clean up from yesterday, which meant there were all kinds of toys scattered around the living room, dolls and pink plastic cars taking over the coffee table as well as the dishes piled in the sink from their snacks and meals over the last two days.
He cracked his knuckles and got to work. Tomorrow he had plans to take Kisa to the amusement park that was about an hours drive, so they wouldn't be at home much. After putting away all the toys and tidying up in the kitchen as well, it was finally time for some sleep. He was definitely going to need it for tomorrow.
In the morning, Kiseok woke to Kisa climbing into the bed and draping herself over him in an attempt to rouse him from sleep. His phone rang and she took it upon herself to grab it and press the green button, her dark eyes lighting up as she heard your voice through the device. After your daughter had rattled off what they had in store for today in her baby language, Kiseok took over the conversation for a little bit, smiling when Kisa dashed out to pick out her outfit today.
"You'll be home around three?" He asked, the phone balancing between his shoulder as he pulled on jeans.
"Hm," You paused from the other side, "Maybe a little earlier, depending on the traffic. The wedding starts in two hours and I'm leaving after the reception anyway."
He hummed in acknowledgment while rummaging for a shirt. "Okay, we'll probably beat you home then."
"We'll see~ anyway, babe, I think I hear Heejin coming to take group pictures. I'll see you later, love you guys."
Almost as soon as he hung up, Kisa barged in, handing her father a little pink hair brush and some rubber bands for her hair. With no other choice, he sighed and mentally prayed this would go smoother than yesterday's disaster. To his amazement, Jay's advice actually worked better than he expected, although he'd never tell the young CEO that. His ego was big enough without more compliments.
It didn't take long to get to the amusement park since it was rather near by. Kisa was rather fidgety by the time they got in so he thanked God she got distracted by all the rides and let her lead the way basically the whole day.
Spinning in an over-sized tea cup, Kiseok took a moment to lean back and admire his daughter's bubbling laughter, smile as wide as her muscles would allow. It was times like this where he realized just how blessed his life has been so far. A successful career in his dream occupation, a loving wife and a healthy, happy daughter, who could ever ask for more than this? There wasn't much he wouldn't do for his child, and he knew very well once the doctor told you both it was a girl, he would spoil her. She was a daddy's girl in every aspect of the word, even if he had to be away for work for long periods of time.
A little after lunch, he realized that he probably shouldn't have spoiled her too much with all these toys since you'd definitely get on his case later on tonight. But she was too cute in that purple princess tiara!
"Do you want that crown, baby?" He asked when she reached for another color.
"Oh, lord, you've got your father wrapped around your pretty little finger, don't you?" A smooth voice teased from the left of the two.
Instantly placing the voice, both of them turned to see you, hands on your hips and an amused smile on your lips. "Oppa, why in the world did you buy her so much toys?" You asked, gesturing towards the full plastic bag in his grip.
Kisa launched herself in your direction, wrapping her tiny arms around your legs and burring her head in your knees. Smirking at the display of affection, Kiseok brought up his free hand in surrender. "She gave me no choice. I don't stand a chance against her puppy eyes."
Rolling your eyes, you picked up the talkative tot and gave her a big kiss that had her squirming and giggling in your hold. "Yeah, yeah, just admit it. She's got you whipped."
Laughing, he shook his head before moving closer to give you a kiss in greeting. It would've lasted much longer had Kisa's tiny hands not moved your faces apart as she made a face accompanied by a high pitched, "Ew!"
"Ew?" Kiseok raised one brow before snatching her up and rapidly placing kisses all over her face while she giggled and wiggled away from him.
You smiled to yourself. As much as you needed the alone time, you really missed your little family in those two days. It was good to be home.
