i love the things you write with all my heart and it makes me want to write my own so bad.. theres nothing stopping me, and im not particularly worried about skill or anything, im just lazy as fuck and everytime i imagine something and then swoon and go "wow i should write this 💞" i just continue to lay in bed and go on with my day without doing anything haha. maybe one day!!

anyways im not the best with using words to describe how i feel but , my first works of yours i read were the hangover/blindspot ones and they permanently changed my brain chemistry. i think about them daily, and i am not exaggerating that. i eventually read your dmspot things too, i put them off for a while because im not too big a fan of dm and t&i in general at all, but theyve done a very good job at softening me up to them a bit, to the point i (for the most point) dont actively avoid reading things about dm anymore lol

and the cinnaseph one !!! i adore that skin i wasnt expecting to see anyone write with it especially not in a setting like that, and its so cute :( i felt so bad for aesop the whole time bc i resonated w him soo bad and hrgrhgdghf the whole thing just melted my heart in all honesty.. i wonder if joseph will ever know just how much aesop is going to think about that event and him afterwards, sweet thing

I'm so happy every time someone says they like any of my Blindspot fics, regardless of what Joseph I use in it. Hangoverspot seems to be a hit with everyone though hahahahah. I hope you do read the dmspot ones, since I consider a lot if them to be my favorites (especially ma petit fleur. I consider it my best written thing up to date). They're my go to to write for joscarl when I use Blindspot.

Yes the cinnaseph one. I tend to project onto Blindspot from time to time so a lot of things written about him are definitely easier to relate to sometimes. The cinna skin was also just so cute I couldn't resist not writing something with it! (that fic was written for someone I don't talk to anymore and I'm glad other people love it too, does make me feel better about it hsgsgsgsgs)

And on writing: it is actually a task to sit down and do it the first time. I've been writing since I was 11 and actively doing this in fandom spaces since I was 12, so I've been here and doing it for a very long time. Getting that first push can be a lot sometimes whether you're doing it for the first time or you're going into a new fandom and getting the hang of the characters for the first time. It might seem scary, but once you break that ice the first time, it becomes easier, even when there are bumps on the road.

"it's very cool in concept! and the thing is theyre not just mimicking what they've heard to garner trust (though it still sounds a bit off because clearly most of them don't have the proper parts to vocalize), they can understand and form sentences from what they've heard somebody say too.. so eg if you ask it to say something specific to verify its not just parroting it will say it back to you (as long as its heard the sounds to replicate). still not entirely convincing bc again its off, esp if they haven't heard the proper noises to replicate a word, but its VERY convincing from, say, a distance.. if youre not paying attention.. if youre in enough distress to believe its whoever theyre replicating.. etc. which is an incredible feat of 'nature' and is cool as fuck. but also HORRIFYING "

THATS ALOT. But basically I just set it down bc these things all share those few central important traits bc otherwise they're not exactly 1 group of beasts! there's multiple. and it spreads. TLDR shared traits:

Can spread the beasting through fluids/bites (think rabies), and Creech other things with it

(But don't have to creech things! sometimes they just eat)

Technically a hivemind. Stored knowledge from everything they've killed like a library. They can't exactly read the minds of eachother when separated into different creatures, but from the Goop..

HORRIFICALLY intelligent, fully sapient and possibly even sentient depending on beast

Can manipulate their own anatomy when Creeched due to being able to melt and reform flesh (though their mass stays generally the same, they can't randomly get LARGER unless they absorb another thing). It takes time of course, theyre still ripping and changing and liquefying flesh and bone, its not instant. but they can still do it

Able to mimic voices they've heard. Cant speak on their own, they need to have heard a voice to replicate (usually the one of the person it originated from

Are we on the same page. ok COOL. So, even with that, theyre not all exactly the same. They won't turn into the same gorebeast every single time- their appearance varies based off " host "- as well as alot of other traits. they won't solve situations the exact same way, may develop different hunting strategies best suited to their appearance, etc etc..

For example: take whoever became a BEAST was very intelligent. that monster would display that same extreme intelligence and thinking, despite no longer being them. it just might be used in different ways. And with that varying intelligence comes the difference between their natural survival instinct as a living thing vs actual sapience extending into sentience.

The sapience doesn't exactly MEAN super extreme intelligence: it's just learning and wisdom. Knowing something and acting based off that. It doesn't exactly mean it's capable of feelings and EXTREME critical thought (despite also being able to think)

+ with different physical appearances (i usually based the beasts off of something correlating to their stand ^_^) comes different kinds of uses of their anatomy/abilities that others may not have or think of. it's not like MAGIC, its like strategy and conforming to their own anatomy , and they can't exactly do something impossible (go invisible, breathe fire) but they can certainly develop things other beasts wouldn't have depending on what they became during transformation and their own specific thought.

EG: one might learn to camouflage in some way or learn stealth hunting strategies + change their own anatomy to be better suited. Like developing soft pads on the feet to move silently. or if their body was severely damaged, ripping and cracking their own ribs out of place to hold their own organs in for safety and even reforming their own peritoneum so they aren't just spilling out, vulnerable.. yknow!

Their forms usually remain vaguely humanoid in some way, due to building up off the appearance of the thing they've consumed and taken and changing it, but it can be intensely graphic in different ways for that reason. And sometimes the mutations can occur without reason in rotting and melting away their host to cause the process to go faster (eg: skin splitting open and folding back down to bone, having flesh tendrils somewhere)... just happens.

+ considering theyre still a living thing, they need guts to function. and will even actively attempt to reform them or make new ones as backup from the viscera theyre made up of... they'll stop the life functions of whatever they've taken and just start them over immediately and replace organs (eg brain, any important vital bit) they've dissolved before going anywhere.. have a screenshot for this too actually

SO I hope that answers the question kindof.. theyre not all exactly the same they vary! in different incredibly gruesome disturbing ways! general size and ability just comes down to what they believe will work (and sometimes it doesnt)

Since its a One Piece day I tiered the Mugis relationships~

Luffy and Zoro- Obviously my favorite. I love that Zoro seems to get actively dumber and more chaotic when hes with Luffy. Its always funny or cool (or sweet) when these two idiots are together.

And adding Nami into the mix. The three of them just have a special place in my heart. Namis great with either one of them and when the three of them are together... terrific. I hope the three of them get to be in a little mini group the next arc at some point.

Zoro and Chopper? Again obviously. Theyre just too cute. Zoro even wanting to make Chopper proud in his dreams? So fucking cute.

Usopp and Nami- Its always been like on of my favorite duos in One Piece. Just a couple of smart, weak, scaredy cats just doing their best.

Adding Chopper to the mix doesnt hurt.

Luffy and Robins relationship will always be iconic. My favorite moment is Luffy telling Robin to say she wants to live and hear screaming it back to him and telling him to take her out to see with them. I mean... is there a more iconic moment? NOT TO ME.

Robin and Nami are always sweet... Namis relationships with women always hit different. I love that Nami is never jealous and mean to other women and in fact becomes just a big sweetie pie with them and its most noticeable with Robin.

Franky and Robin are obviously top tier... theyve been adorable together since Water 7. My favorite moment is still probably Franky resting his big stupid head on Robins lap... so cute.

Chopper as well with Robin. Robin having a weak point for Chopper being cute... and her being mad at Franky when he got swapped into Choppers body is one of my favorite things in OP... even though Punk Hazard was one of my least favorite arcs.

Usopp, Chopper, and Luffy? They share the same brain cell and I love that for them and really in any configuration similar to Luffy/Zoro/Nami is good.

Robin and Brook in Wano has been great. I dont think theyve gotten too much time together before that but theres a lot of untapped hilarity to be had with them I feel.

I may hate Sanji and before ‘The Year of Sanji‘ I would have brushed aside Sanji and Luffys relationship but really their friendship was the only thing good about Sanjis story in Whole Cake. I ranked it this high just because it made sure Sanji wasnt a complete trash garbage character.

Zoro and Usopp are hilarious together. I love their banter on Water 7 and I love that Usopp stepped in front of Kizaru to protect Zoro. Good boys all around.

I dont think Luffy knows what he does for Brook but Thrillerbark was great. I love the scene of Luffy laying on the piano while Brook is playing and then Brook officially joins the squad. It was surprisingly sweet coming from those two morons.

I feel like Oda doesnt like drawing Franky much because it seems like he doesnt have so many scenes with the others... but when he does their usually super funny. Zoro Luffy and Brook all vibe with him and its great. I feel like he should get more especially with Usopp but ya know... I enjoy the moments  when they come.

The only other relationship with Sanji I enjoy is with Usopp. These two have a ton of moments together... Its a shame the fandom largely ignores them as a duo.

Usopp gets along with basically everyone very easily a lot like Luffy I guess thats why hes ALSO the captain. But hes got a funny relationship with Robin too... Robin being comically serious and Usopp stressing about it is great though their best time together was obviously w7/cp9.

Brook and Chopper I dont remember too many scenes where they do stuff together except for in the movies where theyre very cute. I hope to see them together more.

Zoro and Brook started out real strong but they havent gotten much since which is a shame. I really liked that Brook saw Zoros sacrifice and kept his secret.

I think I underrated Brook and Usopp now that i think about it... but maybe its because usually its not the two of them alone... but they do have some moments with others I find funny which usually involves Brook shenanigans and Usopp being forced to be a reasonable adult.

Sanji and Chopper??? Theres probably moments that are cute but I cant think of anything specific.

Although I hate pervy stuff. Brook gets over his pervy stuff quickly so his relationship with Nami is actually kind of fun but they dont get too many moments together.

I used to really like Sanji/Nami as a ship but my increasing hatred for Sanji has put an end to that. Nami is baby and deserves way better.

Similar with Robin... but less so since Sanji never had a chance with her.

Theres nothing appealing about Zoro and Sanjis relationship to me but adding Luffy usually makes it a little better and causes maybe some fun moments occasionally.... but Sanji and Zoro fighting bogs everything down.

Brook and Sanji usually only do perv shit together so...

Robin and Zoro do like NOTHING together which is a shame. I think its because itd be hard to derive comedy out of the two of the most mellow Mugis. Zoro really needs a catalyst to make him chaotic in one way or another and hes not gonna get that from Robin. Zoro being suspicious of Robin earlier was funny but now theyre just Nakama and theyre mostly just chill.

i yearn for one(1) thing only, and that is to have a nice, simplistic, cartoonish artstyle. an artstyle that doesnt rely on anatomy, but the "movement" of the drawing, if you get what i mean.

i dont want realistic proportions and traditional colors and basic poses and gradient shading, i want funky lil dudes in funky poses with funky styles littering my sketchbook :( but alas i havent figured out how to develop that kind of style yet, my brain wants anatomy to look nice but also i dont want to draw eyes. i dont want to take time out of my day to learn how to draw lips i want to draw a line that extends past the characters face. i dont want all my characters to have pointy chins with curved cheeks i want their heads to be round and friend-like or full of sharp edges depending on their personalities and styles. i want to give them all not-quite human ears, blob feet, simple faces, but at the same time i want enough detail to convey the story or emotion im trying to tell.

ive spent so much time recently agonizing over how to use 3d model websites, using real-life references and tracing over them for practice, color-picking from real images to try and do realism and failing miserably, but you know whats easier than that? funky little dudes. little dudes who do not care if their legs are too long or their hair is too bouncy. i dont want my characters to look human.

ive spent enough time on the artfight website to realize that most people who classify their characters as "human" have the most basic ass designs (no offense to people who like basic human designs its just not my thing) or its like dnd-medieval style outfits which i cant draw for the life of me (ive tried). again no offense to people who actively enjoy and draw characters like that. i just need my dudes to have that certain,,, off-ness to them. tails are cool. wings are swag (especially if they arent even like,, fully attached,, ), elf ears are so wonderful to me no matter how much theyre overused, horns are so much fun to draw, and colors!! i have no knowledge in the color theory department so this works great for me!! the only thing i really know is dont shade with black, other than that i just colorpick from references usually but i dont want to do that!! i want the colors to hurt people's eyes but in a satisfying way. like the character's design is so nice to look at that you dont mind your eyes hurting a bit. like how im enjoying writing this post even though its 2 am and the brightness on my computer wont go any lower.

and then another thing ive noticed from being on the artfight website is that a lot of people classify their characters that are anthro/have anthro features under humanoids/monsters. like i made a google form to find some people to attack and someone sent me in a character with some sort of animal (wolf? idk) arms and legs. like dude!! peak character design i love her. but me personally? i cant draw that shit, its so hard for me. i tried a while back and its just Not my thing. nothing against furries i just. cant. and i dont want to either.

and i got another submission that i accidentally deleted that was like full anthro/wolf-like like my comrade,,, i cannot draw animals what makes you think i can draw an animal who acts like a human lmao. i can do like. very basic tails, and also animal ears but i cant do the arms and legs and such i just dont know the anatomy, and i know i was talking about how i dont want to care about anatomy but i feel like for anthros you really do need to know at least basic animal anatomy so you know how the limbs look and shit and i dont have that knowledge and dont feel like gaining it.

and then there were some submissions that i absolutely adored. there was one that like, was vaguely human shaped but definitely was not a human. they had a dark-ish lavender colored skin and horns and tusks and like goat ears and a sorta fluffy tail with spikes on it and they had wings and such and they were such a pleasure to draw i love them. and they had a fairly simple outfit too, nothing too complicated. and then i also enjoy object head characters, theyre so neato to me. i got one of those and i really wish i had the motivation to work on it cause it looks so fun.

i want to make funky characters but id have nothing to do with them because the only book i ever tried writing (key word tried - never got past planning it out) had strictly human characters in it, and most of the books i read are humans/humans with powers in situations specific to them so id have no idea what lore to make with the dudes. assuming i have the motivation to make lore and backstory because honestly i just really enjoy character designing its super duper fun.

(side note a song about trucks doing the deed came on just now and its interrupted my flow, apologies).

i only have three actual characters right now. one is an original roleplay oc whos design is literally athletic shorts, an oversized long sleeved grey sweatshirt, long purple hair, and demon horns. the second one is my persona whos design some sorta medival knight outfit kinda thing? but not ugly it looks really cool (idk one of my friends designed it bc i won some contest from him but the drawing was on a super small scale so idrk the details,,,) with a plague doctor mask and crown, and shoulder length wavy brown hair, dyed bright pink at the end. and then my last one im not too comfortable using other places because theyre a character my friend is using in the story hes writing, and thats really the only place theyve been used. but theyre easily my favorite and im already writing a ton so ill talk about them too.

they're a sorta elf species thing from another planet, with pale green skin and pointed ears. they also have a tail, its like,, super thin, but with a feathery bit at the end. probably not the texture of a feather but i dont know how else to describe it. they have short, curly, almost-draco-malfoy-blonde hair that when it gets too long they can put in a man bun. their eyesight is kinda shitty so when they got to earth, they were exploring some supply closets around the airship. drop off area. thing. like airport but for rocketships and also fancier. yeah. they were exploring that area and found a nice big pair of round glasses with grey frames. and they also found a cowboy-style hat and a sharpie so they wrote their name on the underside of the brim of the hat and stole the hat and glasses (but left the sharpie in the supply closet).

yeah theyre my favorite, my absolute beloved, my child, so cool. i want more characters like them but with maybe a bit more snazzier designs. theyre super cool and all but they could have more pizzazz if they werent in a story where its too late to give them more pizzazz. i just want to be able to give my characters thigh-high boots with a bunch of buckles and fluffy hair with tons of accessories crammed in and abnormally large and long ears that can harbor many piercings and horns that can hold rings on them and special little details on their outfits like who knows what but i dont have any characters to do that too, so i have to make them from scratch, which is always hard especially when you have artblock.

and i also have like 17 characters i need to fully draw, line, and maybe color for artfight before august 1st. so i dont know. i have many things to do and plenty of time to do it but instead i spend my time halfway watching repetitive youtube videos that get boring or sleeping all damn day because i stay up too late doing things like this or i just do nothing at all and its tiring and frustrating but i also feel nothing about it like theres no consequence if i dont do it besides you know. not doing it, not gaining that experience, not making something i enjoy.

so i should do it but i dont for whatever reason, i think its called executive dysfunction but im not sure. this post started out very differently than it ended and i said somewhere up there that i was writing this at 2 am but now its almost 3. this is so many words why couldnt i have put this energy into something productive
