Joe: His loyalty to Marvelous. Actually, he’s just a really loyal dude in general, and he refuses to give up on the people he considers his friends, like Marvelous and Sid. If there is a way to save them, he will save them... Sadly, that wasn’t the case with the latter.

Gai: His undying love for Super Sentai lmao. It’s honestly adorable, and the fact that his actor, Junya Ikeda, is just as enthusiastic about it is really heartwarming. 

Also, how badass is it that this guy managed to try comforting the little girl he saved right after getting run over by a fucking truck?

least favorite thing about them

Joe: Well, he could be pretty aloof with his own teammates at times, though to be fair, it could just be that he’s introverted. On the other hand, he sometimes joins in on Luka and Marv’s less than impressive disregard for the earlier Sentai, unlike Don and Ahim who are nothing but respectful towards their senpai.

Gai: He is a bit too excitable. And loud. He’s kind of exhausting to watch running around. But he’s otherwise okay.

Gai: His whole first roll call, which was so extra it mentioned all the colors of his other teammates. No one could ever top that roll call again

Doc, weirdly enough, since he’s patient enough to deal with both of them. Marv would be a good bro, but sometimes he’s a bit self-centered, and he hasn’t much respect for Gai even though his Sentai knowledge saved their asses a lot. Doc, though, gets along with both and knows them well enough to be what they need when they need it.

OTP/nOTP

I don’t particularly ship either of them with anyone, nor do I not ship anyone with either.

Joe: Every year on the anniversary of his and Marv’s meeting, he bakes a cake (he’s canonically good at making pastries I believe) and leaves it somewhere for him to find in private. Marv never figured out why he does it, since he’s always more focused on the food itself.

Gai: He gets homesick a lot, though he never outright admits it to his teammates. But they do notice though, since he’s a lot quieter when he is. Doc and Ahim try to cheer him up with Earth food and tea, while Marv, Joe and Luka try to be a bit more kind to him than usual.

unpopular opinion

Joe: I feel like most of his coolness is actually awkwardness. He doesn’t seem to be very social, even when he was still in the Zangyack army, so he’s probably out of sorts in a large group, even after getting to know the other Gokaigers well.

Gai: I don’t really think there’s a lot to say about Gai, popular or otherwise. I feel like he’s a refreshing take on the Sixth Ranger trope though, since he was the one with explicit approval of his senpai while the rest of the team could frankly care less.

Of all the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai that you have watched, which pairings (doesnt have to be in the same show) do you love/enjoy shipping the most? And writing about?

That’s sort of a big question--my favorite ships can change based on my mood. Some are better for one day, some are better for another, especially when it comes to writing. Based on sheer Powerful Vibes, though, here’s what I’m really feeling lately writing-wise:

Eiji/Ankh (OOO)--I love suffering and to suffer. Anyway, Ankh is fun to write, because he’s a bitch, and Eiji’s fun to write because I love very sweet characters who simmer with suppressed fury, and they’re good together.

Pretty much anything with Kouta (Gaim)--I adore Kouta, he’s enjoyable to write, and he sort of. Makes other characters fun to write by proxy? (I loved everyone in Gaim except for Sid so I like writing them anyway but damn. Kouta improves every room he’s in.)

Shinji/Ren (Ryuki)--look, the Rider Time really fucked me up in general, but also I just loved Ryuki a ton.

Godai/Ichijo (Kuuga)--some of this is probably recency bias because I’m loving Kuuga a lot and we’re only halfway through but they’re just very sweet and I want them to be happy.

Yamato/Misao (Jyuohger)--I will admit that some of this is thirst because I think Yamato’s hot and Misao has a sexy voice, but even among Jyuohger ships, pretty much all of which are excellent, they’re great.

Luka/Ahim (Gokaiger)--they keep cuddling and napping on each other and I love them.

Other ships that I’m generally enthusiastic about:

Shoutaro/Philip (W)--they’re married and nobody can tell me otherwise. Also I like writing Philip in general because I find him relatable.

Haruto/Nitoh (Wizard)--Wizard is my favorite show, and even apart from that Nitoh’s my favorite secondary Rider, and these two are cute.

King/Amy/Ucchi (Kyouryuger)--because, as I said to a friend the other day, the only dynamic better than a powerful man and his loyal swordsman is if you can add in a beautiful woman who’s pegging both of them. I have spoken.

Kairi/Keiichiro(/Noël) (LuPat)--if I didn’t love them I wouldn’t be so happily writing so much of them. Noël is optional but very fun.

I guarantee you I am forgetting things. If you mention another ship to me from a show I’ve seen I can probably go on for a paragraph about how much I love it--actually, I keep looking at these lists and going, “wait, should I include this thing or that one, do I want to spend another few minutes talking about how much I love Woz, I feel like I’ve left someone out...” (They are characters on television shows. They will not be hurt if I leave them out, despite my semi-mystical beliefs about the power of fiction.)

I’m, uh. Not great at prioritizing sometimes, so I’m gonna stop now. But if you’d like my thoughts on a specific ship or character, please ask. ^_^

ethan is so adorable and i want to learn how to do his hair he's just a little dude whos a love sick puppy

What are your Sentai ships?

Ugh, so many. I watched pretty much everything since Dekaranger onwards, or was at least familiar with them. So, yes, quite a lot of ships.

Magiranger

Hikaru/Urara, big time.

Also Kai/Yuka Yamazaki if only because I sympathize with Kai’s plight of having someone seemingly oblivious for a love interest

Boukenger: Satoru/Sakura. I saw that coming a mile away

Go-onger: Sousuke/Miu is hella cute for me.

Shinkenger

Takeru/Mako because I like how Mako can see through Takeru’s BS and call him out on it. Takeru for his part actually listens to her.

Chiaki/Kotoha. Their interactions are very cute.

Genta/Kaoru, partly due to the hilarious implications if they got together.... Genta would be Takeru’s otou-san.

I also kinda crackship Kaoru with Hiromu from GoBusters due to their similar backgrounds as sheltered Reds who trained for years only to fail at their primary goal.

Goseiger: Alata/Eri. They’re childhood friends too, which is a favorite trope of mine

Gokaiger: Marvelous/Ahim. It’s practically cliche- the pirate and the princess- but damn if Marvelous isn’t sweet on her, especially in the focus episode with the alien that killed her parents

Go-Busters:

Hiromu/Youko. Their dynamic is a variation on the childhood friend trope where they were separated for a long time, but they have this one thing that made them remember the other. And for Hiromu, that was a huge part of why he defied his sister and trained in spite of her fears.

Also, sort of Ryuuji/Jin. Ryuuji definitely had some idol worship for Jin, but I think what could push this in the romantic side is the fact that Ryuuji just accepted Jin’s eccentricities without being a pushover for his antics

Kyouryuger:

I’m probably one of the very few people who shipped King with Yayoi instead of Amy. I think it’s because I see a lot of myself in Yayoi and I was going through a rough time dealing with my unrequited feelings for someone at the time, so I wanted to see her happy.

I also ship Utchy/Amy for this reason. And they’re just adorable together. Amy was the first to bring Utchy out of his shell too.

Ninninger: Takaharu and that ninja girl he was friends with. I’m willing to bet she’s his wife and the mother of his kid

Zyuohger: I really shipped Yamato with Sela, because they’re the only ones in that team that had any sort of sanity lmao.

Kyuuranger: Lucky/Hammy. Hammy went from grudgingly working together with him to happily crowning him as her king and commenting on how it suits him

Ryusoulger:

Towa and Sanae, that girl with the puppy named Hope, because they were so fucking adorable with each other (though I know that would just end with heartbreak on Towa’s part somewhere down the line)

Also, kinda Canalo/Asuna? She’s not gonna put up with his womanizing crap, and his princely behavior contrasts with Asuna as a tomboyish knight.
