I always thought these two kinds of bugs were stink bugs for some reason, but it turns out that the bug on the top is a spittlebug (family: Cercopidae; species: Prosapia bicincta) and the bug on the bottom is a leaf-footed bug (family: Coreidea; species: Acanthocephala terminalis). Coreids actually do have scent glands that can “stink,” but it isn’t the same as that of a stinkbug.
Actual stink bugs can be identified by their broad, oval, often shield-shaped bodies and large, triangular scutellum (if you look closely you can see it about in the middle of it’s back.)
(family: Pentatomidae; species: Nezara viridula)
