     “either tell me why you’re snooping around here, or i slit your throat.” the bluff lies heavy and obtrusive on his tongue, threat unfamiliar where it glints in sharp gaze and sharper knife. jae can count on one hand the number of people he’s killed since the world went to complete and utter shit, and he’s counting on his steeled gaze and the knife he has to the stranger’s throat to keep him from adding to that count. he doesn’t think he can stomach the thought anyway, and he’ll probably be the one with a slit throat but - baby steps, baby steps. knuckles flex white over worn handle of the old knife as he presses it that scant centimeter closer, another bluff he hopes flies under the radar.

     jae thinks he’s got his threat down pat, knows he looks every bit the promise of a slit throat even when his heartbeat is hammering in his ears and his palm is growing sweaty from how tight he’s holding the blade, except -- “what the fuck are you smiling at ?” no one should be smirking like that with a knife to their throat, and the subtle curve to the stranger’s features sends anxiety balling in gut ; he feels like he walked straight into a trap, and is about to get killed instead.
