So i found some voice lines for cream unicorn for the affection system thats going to be coming apparently and it confirms a lot of my hcs about Cream Unicorn and I am just….So normal abt it

My thing about them knowing pure vanilla and them not knowing is looking soooo right

This line is just kinda creepy line to me, I love, unintentionally unsettling and imagining them saying that to pure is soooooo!!!

This being as old as time knowing such personal details about you and acting like they’re your friend and know you when you don’t remember them AT ALL and think they’re a stranger is kinda terrifying lowkey

“My oldest memory? Perhaps when cookieland first opened its gate.” I FUCKING. KNEW IT THAT THE PARK WAS AS OLD AS THEM AND THEY WERE CREATED TOGETHER!!!

It confirms that cream unicorn is as old as the park itself, and was born right when the park came about (AND that they are forgotten but know others from their time at the park + confirms more of their lonely feelings with the other lines)

It also supports the idea that cream is probably one of the oldest if not THE oldest character in the game

Speaking of the park I think, for cream, that the park was for everyone at first, the pure of heart was basically everyone since cream was there since the beginning, but as time went on only children came around since they were the only ones pure of heart, so cream and the park changed accordingly, I don’t think cream minds it much, but as the numbers dwindled and their loneliness became more and more prevalent, their nostalgia yearning becomes more and more strong and their want for people to stay with them grows

Theyre so lonely, they are DESPERATE for anyone to stay with them (hence the yk…hostage thing) at this point they don’t want guests, they want people to stay FOREVER “if you were gonna leave when the music stopped, I’d rather you didn’t come” if they were gonna leave regardless they don’t want them, they want that companionship so badly that longterm stay

Cream yearns for the past, where they were surrounded by people and they weren’t loneliness, they want something permanent without realizing or understanding that their whole purpose isn’t permanent

No one is gonna stay at an amusement park forever, but that doesn’t ring in their mind because of that loneliness, and it’s because of that disconnect that they are stuck in that feeling of loneliness to begin with

Additionally I think the park and cream are two separate entities, connected for sure but separate, the park chooses who is pure of heart, how? Who knows, but I don’t think cream would make that restriction, especially with how lonely they are later on, they’d definitely get rid of the rule otherwise, Cream is only the caretaker of the park, they can only do so much, so in a way cream is the eldritch creature INSIDE another eldritch entity

(I know I do neverland comparisons a lot BUT THEYRE SO SIMILAR ITS NOT MY FAULT, but neverland is sort of sentient its how it chooses who gets to be there and sorts, I think cookieland is the same just on a muchhhh smaller scale)

Like a parasite the park needs cream and creams evidently needs the park, even if it’s the cause of their pain

Maybe at their loneliest, cream would talk to the park as if it was an entity, like it could hear them, it never responded of course but cream could swear a presence was there to keep them company, couldn’t have been just their imagination right?

Them not even wanting guests is so interesting to me, it gives perspective to apple cookie visit, maybe it was after they visited or before, maybe it was her visit that made them realize,

It’s sort of selfish, people come and you’re still not happy because they aren’t staying, “if you were gonna leave anyways Id RATHER be alone” its a lot coming from someone whos so desperately lonely but gives so much insight into them

I think this sort of mindset was after apple cookie came, and it cemented in their mind that they don’t want guests anymore, apple cookie was a guest and they care about her so much, but they barely come, they have their whole life, a family and they hate that. They can’t be here forever, and it makes them wish they didn’t even come because at least then they wouldn’t have to feel that pain of waiting for her to come back and them not coming

It further cements how stuck in the past they are!! And how they don’t wanna move on!!

you're literally so real and based about the misogyny in the onceler fandom like none of the plot would've happened without audrey or norma (although i am a bit biased when it comes to norma cause she's my fave), and mrs wiggins helped A LOT and everyone just ignored them. also the vitriolic hatred towards the onceler's mom (yeah she sucked but still) is kinda weird where is that treatment towards the rest of his family

I posted my post out on a whim from my drafts but lemme elaborate - the lorax/onceler fandom is incredibly misogynistic. from the fact that ppl make fun of younger often girls having fun and being attracted to Once-ler. I was also a young girl when I first joined this fandom and I could completely feel the mockery over the years. all bc I dared to have fun abt one of my fave characters. and over the years I feel like the nature had become even more so hostile against fans, esp abt women who just join

my another glaring issue is with the fact that this fandom completely overlooks female characters. as u've said, the plot wouldn't have happened without Audrey and Norma. and when u join the fandom discussions u see ppl complaining abt how thinly they are written, the fandom does nothing to expand on them

I'll start with Norma bc she's my absolute fave too - u can barely find anything with her these days. yes I love Normaler but it doesn't have to be all there is to her. if u don't like Normaler, why can't u make Norma be Once-ler's friend? why aren't u exploring her life as a young woman, single mother and then a kind and upbeat old woman? why can't u pick up the pieces in canon abt her spunky but lighthearted nature, love for stories, enigmatic but understanding personality, nostalgia towards different times but still living in the moment, even affection towards things as gentle as nature and as extreme as sports? she fckin drives a crane all by herself! Norma is such a fantastic character to explore but this fandom just doesn't want to. and then when ppl DO explore her character it's dismissed as a self-insert fantasy for girls. even if so, so what? are we circling back to hating young girls for having interests?

Audrey is a similar case. she's either used as a mouthpiece, side piece for Ted or fucking shipped with an adult. why don't u explore her life beside this? why won't u talk abt her being an artist, softspoken dreamer and an introverted character who has to make choices? I love when ppl make her more active but she can also be passive, not everyone has to be an adventurer. and if u make her active, she could make a fantastic protag. all I'm saying is, do better

I'd argue the story of The Lorax also couldn't have happened if it wasn't for Mrs. Wiggins. she's such a fun character too, lovable and sweet and energetic, but also no nonsense and stands up for what she believes in? when I read this ask to my bestie they looked at me and said "Mrs. Wiggins has more personality than Ted" and I AGREE. she deserves more spotlight as a single woman who tries her hardest and balances her life all around. she's so so good

as for Once-ler's mother, she is a total bitch but like........so is his whole family. yes, she's the abuser but everyone else enables her abuse so they're also guilty. like fuck them. I do totally get hatred for Once-ler's mother but she's also a pretty good antagonist. her manipulative behavior and mood swings are very well written in a realistic way. why can't we even say that a woman is a good antagonist? besides, she can also have her past (which does not excuse the abuse ofc, just makes her a deeper character). I see a lot of potential and it's just wasted a millionth time

can I also say that female OCs in this fandom are super scarce? I remember there were a lot of times when fem!Once-ler blogs got deactivated bc they were relentlessly bullied. all for the sake of shipping two mildly different flavors of the same guy. and u don't have to make them side pieces to ur Once-lers. women deserve their own stories to tell. when I was developing my Lorax OC Felicia, her relationship with Once-ler was the last thing I thought of

anyways, it's a total tangent at this point but I wanted this to be an ode to female characters of the lorax/onceler fandom. they deserve their stories and they deserve to be treated with respect. do better

1: What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?Probably a very short amount of time.... He has like, a lot of energy

2 How easy is it for your character to laugh? Its hella easy to make him laugh!! He is almost always laughing and smiling... He is a very positive fella

3: How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?) Either thinking or playing his flute or pipes!!

4: How easy is it to earn their trust? Its pretty easy, especially since he is oblivious to a lot of things, including bad ones

5: How easy is it to earn their mistrust? Not sure???? Probably a little harder, but not really hard.

6: Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable? he definitely considers them flexible.

7: What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling? Probably things like jungles, treehouses, other kind of nature things... and yeah!! He likes the feeling!!

But I think the lies that actually haunt him, maybe not now, but definitely when he was still married to his wife, was that he actually still liked her and continued to stay with her

11: How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)? He would try really really hard to understand, but if he cant, then he’ll pretend to understand

12: How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach? He would ask people to get it for him, and probably make the other person feel hella awkward wile he’s just like “Thank u pal”

13: What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color? Green!! He thinks and does look best in green!!!

14: What animal do they fear most? He doesn’t fear animals that much actually??? I think the only time he would be afraid of an animal is if they’re acting aggressive towards him tbh

The only time he thinks of it out is if he has time and if its something he’s nervous about, but even then, he usually doesn't come out the way he wanted

16: What makes their stomach turn? When people believe the rumors/lies told about his childhood, things that make him super nervous, thinking about things he has to admit sooner or later, those kind of things
