I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jet was pining HARD

Jet’s singing, Zuko’s who’s it’s about, Sokka is Heather. 

Biggest determining factors about this is Jet is definitely emotionally distant so he would feel this way after opening up to someone.

 Plus the singer reiterates in the chorus that he dies a little bit when he sees the other and Heather together which can be taken literally as Jet’s death or how it would impact him and make him even more distant as a coping measure.

The singer mentions that they can’t really hate Heather but still hold a resentment towards her when they see her with the other which is very in line with Jet’s thoughts about Sokka.

Jet definitely resents Sokka a bit, but it’s more born out of jealousy and how much better Sokka is for Zuko than him. Definitely think it also extends to how Sokka’s able to let go of his anger or at least handle it in a healthier manner compared to him.

There isn’t much mentioned about the person the singer is referring to. All we really get is how happy the singer sees they are when with Heather, and the reoccurring sweater. Not to say that Zuko is oblivious, but Zuko is oblivious. 

Jet probably said he was fine and that he was happy as long as Zuko was happy and so Zuko took his word for it. That’s why he gave the sweater to Sokka, as he didn’t think Jet had any remaining feelings.
