"Guide to Hypnosis Text Study Groups" coming soon!
For my Big Hypnovember Magazine this month (also for Patreon!), I'm writing a "Guide to Hypnosis Text Study Groups"!
"Text studies" are a special way to learn and interpret educational hypnosis literature in pairs or a group! I've run a couple before; we all really loved the format.
My goal is to share how to run them for online and in-person groups!
Why?
Everyone, no matter experience level, can learn and share something
It is an excellent icebreaker and “get-to-know-you” activity
It can be facilitated with less “expertise” or preparation of material
It fosters love and ownership of the texts/information that influence our sex acts
Stay tuned!

@ the hypnocommunity: what educational content ( I don't really like that word, but I'm blanking on a better one) you recommend on the subject of hypnokink? Think of books, documentaries, movies, etc.
Personally, I'm looking for more information on being a better hypnotist. I understand that practicing is the name of the game, but I feel like you gotta understand the rules, risks, and limitations of the game before you play properly. But of course, any and all resources are great to share!

Ummm saving this for later.
50 Days of HypnoKink - Day 49: Hypno in Media
My heavens... we made it to the finish line. Tomorrow is the final day.
I wanted to save an obvious one for the end because I do so enjoy MC in fiction so very much. So much, in fact, that I made a Twitter thread with 110 recommendations and never even came close to emptying my resources.
I know so many of these scenes, both that Twitter thread and this page are skimming the surface.
I'll be using some of those recommendations here but let's divide by category:
Film
So let's get the obvious out of the way. You have
Trance
A Danny Boyle thriller with a terrible plot and Rosario Dawson as a hypnotherapist trying to get hidden information from James McAvoy's mind. Silly movie but one that doesn't get brought up a lot. Dawson learned hypnosis to get into the role.
Candyman
Horror movie in which the director literally hypnotized the actress so any time she was being stalked by the titular killer she looked completely entranced. Link above is an interview discussing this.
Hypnotic
HORRIBLE movie on Netflix but Sleepyhead and I have hosted a number of watch parties and let me tell you, this is the PERFECT movie to watch with a bunch of rowdy hypnokinksters. The therapist is unethical to a laughable degree and his office looks like it's inside of the Death Star. He's a living breathing red flag. The movie does have a really hot freeze scene, a good ragdoll and the dollification sequence. It's just enjoyable because it's terrible. Check CWs first though, this movie has a bunch of things that can make it an uncomfortable viewing experience.
The Great Hypnotist
This is a Not For Daja movie. A Chinese movie that doesn't get brought up a lot. Like Trance above it is a thriller with some twists and turns that I don't really want to spoil.
Stir of Echoes
A visualization of a dissociation induction designed to make a person view events on a screen so they are separate from the memory. It's a remarkably well done scene.
Now You See Me 1/2
The hypnosis in these movies is STUPID and I love it. The first movie has a punchline that every time Mark Rufallo's character makes a frustrated comment people who Woody Harrelson has hypnotized will start acting as if they're in an orchestra. Second movie has a twin Woody Harrelson as an evil hypnotist and he uses a pizza box as an evil induction. It's amazing.
Sherlock Holmes Woman in Green
This induction is one of the coolest I've seen in a film and I try my hardest to channel the energy of this when I am doing a relaxation focused scene.
TV
Charlies Angels
This is bar none my favorite hypnosis scene in any fiction. The typewriter induction is amazing, the hypnotist has such a smooth voice, the entranced gazes are lovely. It's just perfect. Heck, the link above is "hypnosis scenes" from the episode and is 26 minutes long. From a single episode of television.
Doctor Who
Sarah Jane gets hypnotized so often that I could make a list purely from her.
Legion
youtube
I just wanna link this one as it's one of those scenes that works so much better without context and the aesthetics are incredible. Plus who doesn't like Aubrey Plaza?
Quick Bonus Animation Round
Carmen Sandiego (Neflix) has a ton of mind control including the bad end to the interactive movie.
Totally Spies is a meme for a reason
And this one is a reason many of us are here <3
Comics
DC vs Vampires
I think the page speaks for itself. "Hypnosis isn't lying, Diana. It's speaking to your vulnerability."
Korra
This sequence of Asami, brainwashed to hate the avatar, being deprogrammed is so good that someone on AO3 did an incredible fan-fiction which may well be one of my favorite hypnokink stories of all time.
Super Mario Comic
I bring this one up as it was one of my earliest moments of "...oh... this is kind of making me feel some kind of way."
Video Games
A note that a full directory of video games featuring Mind Control can be found at mindcontrol.fun the MC Games Wiki, run by @soveryverytired
Nyx Gaming (Featured game: Enthralled)
Nyx do incredible games which are designed to hypnotize the viewer and their consent practices are wonderful. They recently teamed up with Secret Subject to release a vampire enthrallment game and let me tell you, there is not a single word in that synopsis that doesn't make me happy.
Mind Melting Massaging Machine
The best tool for VR hypnosis. Upload custom files and program spirals, subliminals and chose between static spiral or headtracking. I have had so much fun with this over the years. There's a desktop version too but VR is optimal for this experience.
Spiral Clicker
It's such a simple concept. Click on the character and watch their will go away. Spiral Clicker is backed with a fun little universe, fun characters both original and community sourced, amazing art and a clever little gameplay loop that is quite addictive. Careful, the game features a constant spiral, you may find yourself falling in to trance. Don't worry. The game will wake you up. You can even ask the game to include suggestions for you :)
The sequel is being worked upon now and I cannot wait <3
Music Videos
Anna Soares - Hypnodoll (NSFW)
youtube
Straight up just a song and music video about hypnokink. If you click anything in this thread, click this one.
Little Big - Hypnodancer:
youtube
Silly antics but a fun music video.
Pharrell Williams - Hypnotize U
youtube
It's just Pharrell hanging out in a mansion with his hypnotized harem.
Grimes - We Appreciate Power
youtube
It's dronekink baby.
Andamiro - Hypnotize
youtube
Maid hypnotizes their employer.
I could do so many more in all areas. But the point is, media is hypnohorny. I never went over advertisements (UK ones especially), books, musicals (Phantom and Next To Normal for instance), anime (Sailor Moon) or manga.
But I write about a bunch more in my Twitter thread.

A reminder to hypnosis subjects and those interested in hypnosis
I've been thinking about this for a while now, especially because I had to explain it to a subject who was new to being hypnotized recently. It's something not often acknowledged in the hypnosis community, at least from what I've seen.
As much as hypnosis is often portrayed as mind control, and as much as I often like to lean into that fantasy that I control my subjects' will and body, you the subject are in control at the end of the day. You are lending control to the hypnotist, and how much you lend is up to you! Many people enjoy the idea of the hypnotist having complete control over them, but it's just that: an idea, a fantasy.
Now, that isn't to say you aren't easier to convince while hypnotized. I like to think about it like being in a really good mood - you're happy to do things you normally wouldn't do, but you're still you, and you won't do anything that you really wouldn't want to do no matter what. Because of that, I always recommend being hypnotized only by those you trust, someone who cares about your well-being. But that means if a hypnotist is making you uncomfortable for whatever reason, you have the power to reject what they're telling you, no matter what they say. They're called "suggestions" for a reason, and hypnotists are more of a guide than someone who controls your every whim.
You might also find that when you're hypnotized, you're still "aware" of what's going on, and it might feel like you can stop it at any time. And that's okay! That usually is a sign that you're being hypnotized, not the other way around. You are in control and you can stop at any time, but the fun of hypnosis is that you won't want to stop listening to the hypnotist's words, their suggestions will feel like there's no harm in following them (provided it's something you're okay with). You're in control, but you're choosing to let go and let the hypnotist guide you into doing things that you might not normally do and you might enjoy.
As I said earlier, I like leaning into the fantasy of controlling my subjects almost completely, but I make sure they're okay with that sort of thing before I ever hypnotize them (and a lot of the time, people are). We talk about our limits and boundaries, what we want out of a session, and I do my best to make sure my subjects feel comfortable and safe around me. Ideally, anyone trying to hypnotize you will do the same! This allows those who really like the idea of handing control to me to do so in a safe space.
Hopefully this helps someone out there, and I hope y'all have a good day. ^w^

Educational kink post
If you are doing hypno kink, DO NO ENGAGE IN ANYTHING THAT WAS NOT PRENEGOTIATED.
When a subject is dropped, they have no ability to give informed consent. Treat the scene as though they consented to an intox scene. No extras. Now is not the time for creativity.
Hypnokink is a RACK kink. (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink)
It's BDSM for your psyche. Give it the respect it deserves or you will fucking hurt someone.

What’s the different between hypnosis and brainwashed? Sorry, I just love your Callie obsessed and I don’t understand the different between the two
You don't understand the difference between the two? Don't worry, i got you.
Let's start off with brainwashing. In most definitions of it, it is described as pressuring someone systematically to adopt radically different morals, ideologies and behaviors via forcible means against a person's will, knowledge and consent.
Now let's get into hypnosis, it is described as a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration, where the subconscious is more open to suggestions and it's sometimes used as a form of therapy to treat addictions. It is not some stage act where you can get someone to get naked on stage, that's not how it works. It is not some thing where you swing a clock around and go "you are getting veryyyyy sleepy" and now you control someone's mind, nope, that is a common false assumption about hypnosis.
One of these terms is something used in therapy, the other is used in cults and political/military circles. The two are very different and have different connotations.
The main thing with brainwashing is that there is a forcible/ non consensual aspect to it where the individual doesn't want their mind to get changed. However in hypnosis, suggestions that are given to a person in a hypnotised state must not go against a person's will or morals otherwise the person will not listen to the suggestion, IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE TWO!!!!!!!!! VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
Brainwashing is against someone's consent while hypnosis REQUIRES consent and is not some form of mind control. That's the major difference between the two. Hypnosis is an altered state of conscious while brainwashing is someone's mind literally getting systematically reconditioned until the person's old morals no longer exist.
You can see now why i have problem with Callie being called "brainwashed" during Splatoon 2 because she canonically said to Octavio, "okay fine, I'll hear you out." You don't hear people who are getting brainwashed "yeah sure I'll hear out your points!!!"
You cannot use the word brainwashing for Callie's circumstance because her dialogue in the relationship chart literally goes against the definition of the word itself and using that word treats Callie more as a damsel or object rather than a character who just needs help. I'm tired of Splatoon fans and casuals pushing that word around towards my comfort character when there's a ton of evidence to say otherwise. I am getting REALLLLLLLLLL FUCKING TIRED....
"But Marie sai-" I know, she said "brainwashing sunglasses" in the English version I KNOW!!! From her perspective she would obviously think Callie was brainwashed by the shades, she has no other information to go off of, doesn't mean she is right and WE SHOULD BLINDLY TRUST HER PERSPECTIVE!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE EVER SEEN AN OVERREACTING FAMILY MEMBER BEFORE?!?!
Callie was hypnotised, full stop. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The whole "i remember" thing is not because the shades brainwashed her and removed her memories, it's just that Callie is in a mentally ill state PLUS in a hypnotic state where she's very concentrated and focused. The shades being shot off of her is like you writing an essay in class and someone smacks your eye. Callie looks like she has a headache and it takes a while for Callie to ""come back to her senses"" where she starts thinking a little bit more rationally. Her hearing the Calamari Inkantation floods her brain with good memories and positivity as the song has mysterious and mystical elements to it, Callie gets pumped up and all of that darkness in her head clears away and she goes "i remember! YEAH!!!"
The ONLY character you can argue was brainwashed in the Splatoon universe, is Agent 3. That's the ONLY ONE i may allow.
But even then they say "they have been hijacked." As in Tartar has taken direct control over Agent 3's body and it's not reallyyyyy brainwashing because Agent 3 was unconscious and probably had zero idea on what was going on until they woke up on the helicopter at the end of Octo Expansion.
What about Marina Agitando? Possessed by an ai after getting knocked unconscious. Not brainwashed or hypnotised!!! Marina was asleep during her time as Marina Agitando.
CAN WE STOP THROWING WORDS AROUND LIKE THEY MEAN NOTHING!?!? Stop using that word to describe "Splatoon character but evil." No. Enough. ENOUGH!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!! I AM GETTING SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I'm not yelling at you anon btw lmao. I'm yelling at everyone else, thank you for the ask!)

Pacing and Leading Drill 001 - Universal Pacing
One way to induce trance is to direct the bottom's attention to different elements of their experience, then mix these observations with suggestions in a natural way.
One challenge I faced when I started (and occasionally still do 😅) is feeling like I have nothing to say, especially when I have limited inputs from their environment, like on a phone or video call.
One way I found to practice when I was low on energy was to invent universal pacing statement that must be true for anyone.
"You may start to notice the temperature of the room" "And you can feel the weight of your body as it settles into the surface beneath you" "Notice any sounds that might be at the edge of your awareness, or the silence." "Thoughts might arise from nowhere, or feelings about those thoughts, or about the sensations you feel."
As a drill, it's simple.
Don't worry about making suggestions to "go into trance" or "drop for me." Just describe to an imaginary person what they must be feeling or tell them what to pay attention to.
A few things I found helpful while I was working through this drill:
It's a drill, not a scene. Don't sweat the details. Repetition is fine. A little nonsense is great. It's more about becoming fluent and comfortable than saying the right words
Go slow and steady, so when the ideas start to come to a trickle, you have time to think without breaking the flow
If you feel comfortable linking statements together or adding suggestions, go for it! You can always come back to the basic drill (statement-statement-statement) and have it be a success.
Be patient with yourself.
Here's an example of what the drill might sound like:
If you want to give it a try yourself, I've included my reference sheet below. You can read it directly or keep it as a reference to pull out when you feel like you're running out of ideas.
Softening Terms:
Begin to, start to I Want You To, It would help if you You may… or you may not You might X, or you might Y Perhaps, maybe Can, could, or may (giving permission) It’s easy to, simple to, possible to, just For just a moment
Awareness Terms:
Become aware of Pay attention to Feel, experience, sense, notice, find Realize, discover, recognize
Objects of Awareness:
Pressure against the surface beneath you (chair/couch/bed if known) Body parts (hand, arms, legs, feet, elbows, tongue in your mouth, etc) Temperature (against skin, of body, warmth, coolness) Air Weight of your clothes Muscle tension or soreness My voice (its qualities, the words) Breathing (pace, quality, etc.) The imagined image of how you look from the outside Light and shade (even behind closed eyes) How you feel about your feelings Thoughts as they arise Sounds in the environment Gaze “The sensations/feelings”
Finally, when it comes to using this in practice, I recommend @h-sleepingirl and @gleefulabandon's resource here which goes into more practical detail in an accessible way.

i am once again getting excited over stuff that isn’t even confirmed lmao but what if hypdream has a similar story format to arb s1 where it’s split into six separate stories centred around the divisions where the final boss of each story is the evil version of the division so you have to strategise how to defeat the divisions with the characters you have unlocked like what if i have to beat bat with bat would evil kuukou have priority and his ability might go off before i can seal evil kuukou’s myself idk how jyushi’s ability works but can i negate the damage he supposedly can heal by reflecting his attack phase back at him with hitoya’s would the three of their attack stats combined be enough to beat them if evil kuukou’s ability can be used more than once—
#vee queued to fill the void#i should start thinking up a hypdream tag lmao#everyone has been pull out their receipts that kr in in their heads and in their walls for the evil clones concept#and i too have an ichikuu comic i’d like to make that happened to have elements of evil ai lol#but that’s not my flex or win or whatever if hypdream involves strategy behind team comp and abilities#then that’s how ik kr is in MY head bc i’ve been begging for that for YEARS lmao#pls come thru kr 😭😭😭😭😭 i’m not good at video games period lmao but the most fun i’ve had playing games lately#were nu carnival and twst when i was still playing them i loved being able to battle with them!!!!!!!!#i want to raise different comps it’ll be lit lol dice’s random ability can feel safer to use with samatoki’s ability to store damage#put jiro with a character with a high attack stat plus rosho so rally and educate have peak synergy#hypnosis in its real form division made up of hifumi ramuda and rei LET—#LET ME IN THE LAB LET ME COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK

drones that carry around a pocket-sized instruction manual with them at all times, to be presented as an answer to questions that can't be answered either vocally, visually or through demonstration..... with bonus points if it includes those anatomical solid black line illustrations that label parts and their purpose? i'm going insane with the mental image of presenting a little instruction manual with a diagram detailing a gag hidden behind a mask as an eloquent little explanation for a lack of verbal responses when meeting someone new, or as a fantastic dictionary of uses, functions, commands and triggers for anyone who reads to use....... <3

Charlotte Classes Summer 2024 Hiatus + Feedback Survey
FetLife Group Post Link: https://fetlife.com/groups/167367/posts/28167380
Due to a combination of personal reasons, we're going on a brief hiatus, and plan to return to doing classes for this group in Charlotte in September.
In the meantime, we strongly request feedback from those interested in attending our classes and events, so we can make sure we're providing the best classes we can. Please take a few minutes out of your day to take the survey at the following link, it's anonymous, and we believe it will help give us direction for the future. https://forms.gle/RBVmnBKcoALFWxE47
If you know people who attend our events or have interest in them, do us a favor: give us a signal boost and/or point this out to those who've shown interest/curiosity about our classes. Things shoot by in our feeds so quickly and plenty of people do the healthy thing limiting how much they look at social media that we know this can easily get missed. Thank you for your support.

Hypnosis: Obstacles
What is an Obstacle?
An obstacle is something that hinders or prevents you from achieving a goal.
Example 1
Once I gave a play partner a suggestion that they would feel restraints preventing them from moving their arms.
When checking if the suggestion had worked my partner told me that they felt like they weren't really restrained as they could just will themselves to move.
They told me that they were very competitive and if there's a challenge, they like to overcome it. Knowing this, and still wanting to make the suggestion work, I had to find another way to make it work and keep them from growing too competitive.
In the end I gave them an additional suggestion that made them feel so good that they couldn't think about pushing against the suggestion.
Discussion
When doing hypnosis obstacles can occur in different places. There are many different difficulties you might encounter, but most of them can be overcome or bypassed in some way.
When doing hypnosis, you might discover obstacles/difficulties when:
going into trance
staying in trance
make suggestions work
...
Going into Trance
This is a difficulty some people that start playing and practicing hypnosis struggle with. At the start especially when you don't know what trance feels like it can be hard to know that you are in trance or that your subject is in trance.
If this is difficult for you something that can be a great help is your play partner. If you as a subject have trouble knowing if you are in trance, ask your hypnotist if they can point out when they notice changes in you that could be a sign of trance. If you as the hypnotist are unsure if your play partner is in trance, ask your subject after the trance how they know they are in trance or while still in trance ask them to smile or give a sign when they feel that they are in trance.
Something else that can come up that you worry that you'll fall asleep. In this case try hypnosis while standing. Keeping yourself from falling asleep can be distracting and might hinder you from going into trance. For some people going into trance can even feel like dozing off in some way.
Another thing might be that it just doesn't seem to work. In this case, and just in general, it's worth a try to talk with your hypnotist about how you feel when you let go... do you feel heavy or light? Is your head empty or do you feel your thoughts just rushing through without sticking? This might help your hypnotist adjust an induction to fit you and your experience of letting go. The more your hypnotists’ words reflect how it feels for you the easier it is to experience trance.
Staying in Trance
Sometimes while you might be perfectly able to go into trance it is difficult to stay in it. There are many different things that can disrupt or even pull you out of trance.
Noise, music, and unexpected sounds can make it more difficult to go into or stay in a trance for some people. While it can happen, that certain sounds attract your attention this is completely fine and normal when you’re in trance for a longer amount of time, so don't worry about if it shifts for a moment. Think of it as you trying to check if everything’s alright and after noticing it's not worth your attention you can just fall back into trance.
Something that holds your attention, like music, can be more challenging. For some people this is no problem as they just completely block out anything, but the voice of the hypnotist, but for others music can be very distracting. Just like anything you can hear other senses can, but don't have to, disrupt a trance. Take this into account when planning sessions or playing at a party.
One thing that could help here is to take some time to focus on things that could be distracting. Just focus on what's around the sounds, smells, light, ... and get used to it so you can just let it fade into the background, knowing it's not important or interesting.
This is something that makes for an interesting blend of fixation and overload induction as you can ask a subject to focus on all those things at once.
Example 2
One time I got very distracted by music while I had someone else in trance. My mind was constantly thinking, what if the music is too loud or they can't let go because of it. The fact that it was very epic orchestral music didn't help these thoughts either.
When I talked to my play partner after the trance, they told me that they didn't even hear it and it didn't bother them at all.
From this I learned that sometimes also the hypnotist can be distracted and it's best to just talk about what the ideal place to do hypnosis at is and try to recreate that place if possible.
Another thing that might influence your ability to stay in trance is your general well-being and state of mind. Some days you just have thoughts racing or something that's just constantly on your mind. On these occasions you might find it more difficult to stay in trance as thoughts keep appearing.
It's important to keep in mind that you can't just magically turn off those thoughts and feelings. Acknowledge how you feel and what keeps you thinking, accepting that you might just not be as clear-headed this day can really help to make it easier to let go then trying to bottle it up.
Make Suggestions Work
Suggestions and them working is amazing and show's how incredible the human brain is. While you can do a lot with suggestions, there are limits, some are fixed others can be bent or broken.
There are suggestions that are more difficult to do, like amnesia, and others that are less difficult, like making a body part stuck to something else, but this is something that can be different for every person. While someone might be very good at amnesia suggestions another one is very good at catalepsy suggestions.
Hypnosis and suggestibility can be learned so it's very common that someone new to being in trance might not be able to do certain things, while an experienced person can do very complex things.
When you want to make a suggestion work think about what your goal is, maybe it doesn’t need to be this suggestion or can be achieved with something that's way easier for the subject. For example, a lot of amnesia themed things are not necessarily about the amnesia itself but about the subject being surprised when it happens and not knowing when it will happen. In this case you could just suggest and build up an expectation and that they will not know when it happens.
It is very difficult to make a brain do things it isn't used to doing, so slowly building it up or trying to work around the obstacle can be an easier way than to forcefully repeat until it works.
You can find an overview of the post series here.

On Starting to Learn [Hypnosis]
When I first started in kink, I wanted to learn all the things: "I want to learn rope!" & "I want to learn flogging!" & "I want to learn cigar play and whips and needles and wax and knife-play and be a master Dom and..."
In retrospect, I was on some newb-ass shit.
Not just because I dreamed of mastering many complex skills in just a few years without teachers, mentors, or any prior knowledge (🤦🙄)... but because I didn't really know what I wanted.
Get Specific:
For example: "Learn rope." Did that mean tying people down for wild sexy-times or creating artwork on a human canvas? Did that mean putting suspended bottoms on display at play parties or torturing intimate partners with semenawa at home?
It's all 'rope,' and while many skills overlap, many don't. Without a clear intention, buying all the books and signing up for every class had a downside:
I put myself on someone else's escalator, quietly absorbing their definitions and biases along with their favorite ties.
I'm almost a decade older now, hopefully a little wiser, and I'd like to try again - this time with intention.
The Goal:
My goal is to be fluent with hypnosis so that I can seamlessly negotiate and lead:
Hypnotic introductions with new subjects in controlled student environments
Complex kink scenes and spontaneous play with intimate partners in a range of environments (including public dungeon play)
1:1 video play with online friends
To create vibrant, amazing experiences that leave subjects feeling 🤯 while mitigating the risks.
That means explicitly deciding (at least at this stage) not to focus on things like therapeutic hypnosis, stage hypnosis, group sessions, brainwashing, and "covert" hypnosis.
And applying the lessons I've learned as a student, teacher, content creator, and course-designer to learn the skills effectively and document the process.
Here we go. What could go wrong?
