Stupid Doctors. Stupid Eyes.
So, did two doctors in one day. Two separate issues, remarkably similar difficulty in communicating and getting healthcare. Part of it MUST be the autism, but that CAN'T be all.
Doctor #1 was following up on a previous phone appointment. I had asked for an in-person appointment to lay out my case, told him I had almost a clean sweep of hypothyroid symptoms, told him I need a doctor who can handle my thyroid and "female hormones" (no other polite way to say, Can you handle all my hormones or not, you are a hormone doctor) because they interact with each other and if I have to keep ping-ponging back and forth between two doctors to work on this, I will not get adequate care. He started to ask about what estrogen I'd been on before during that appointment, but he backed off and tried to get me to see another gynecologist when I mentioned Canada kept running out of the patches I'd been prescribed. I tried to reiterate that if I have to square my treatment up between two doctors, I may die, but he said I might prefer an "expert."
I heard "you can use this other doctor if you're more comfortable with them," which I wouldn't have been, so I ran off and got a referral that would OK him to handle the estrogen and progesterone. He meant, "Under no circumstances will I handle that for you, even though I could. It's too complicated for me."
This became clear over the course of a five minute phone appointment, which I only accepted because it was the soonest one available. I thought he'd follow up in the office. And, although he wanted more blood work, I reminded him he told me the numbers were unreliable and he would need to address the symptoms, and he agreed with me, he just wanted the numbers too. Yesterday, numbers in hand, he told me my thyroid levels looked too high, so he was decreasing my dose, and I could have another blood test in three months. Bye. No discussion of unaddressed symptoms that don't look ANYTHING like hyperthyroid.
Did he get the referral? Could he address my "female" hormones? Well, he'd told my family doctor to refer me to that gynecologist! WHAT family doctor? That's not my family doctor anymore, he was fucking with my thyroid treatment that YOU prescribed me, among other very bad things, AND I LEFT HIM. I swear, I told the guy that LAST TIME.
OK. So I need a new endocrinologist who will actually handle all of my hormones, and I need to do all the research and find this person for myself, then ask the clinic to refer me to them. I could've started on this weeks ago if the fucker had just expressed himself in clear language. I TRIED to tell him as many ways that I could, "If you can't do that for me, I NEED ANOTHER DOCTOR," but he didn't hear that.
Doctor #2 was the surgeon who "fixed" my eyes so I can't maintain focus or acuity. I had a fight with the tech, and then with him, trying to explain the difference between, "I can read this, even though it's blurry, because I can guess what the letters are based on their basic shapes and the other letters in the line," and "You can read that just fine!" I tried to verbalize my struggles and this confused them. "Stop trying to focus on the letters, just read them." DON'T FOCUS ON THE LETTERS, JUST READ THEM???
They also had difficulty understanding the nature of the visual distortions. "Is this better or worse?" "My eyes get tired and stop focusing. It's not consistent." "But is it better or worse?" "I've been focusing on details for multiple letters now, and my eyes are refusing to stay in focus. I don't know." "Your prescription isn't consistent." *a pause, while my verbal ability crashes and I try to reset* "Wh-Why would it be?"
The doctor didn't know what binocular vision dysfunction was. Last time I saw him, I swear, the nurse asked what it was, and he explained it to her. It was brief and light on the details, but he did. Now he doesn't know what it is. He forgot since last year?
Also, I should not call the thing where a faint double of the image or text appears above or below it "double vision." "Double vision" is some other specific thing, not seeing two things, one of which is fainter. It's confusing for them when I call that "double vision." Cool. That makes very little sense to me and makes it even harder for me to keep talking. Thanks.
Anyway, they put me in front of a couple machines to take images and this time, FINALLY, I coughed up numbers that say something is wrong. My lenses are supposed to let light through at a "10." The left one is at a "9," which the doctor thinks is "not bad" and then he never addresses the blurriness in that eye again. Because the right one is at ".89". There's a decimal in there. It's less than one. This is severe. I must have a cataract.
But I only had the surgery because they thought my lenses looked fine and I wouldn't have cataracts for a decade or more! All of a sudden I have a cataract? "Well, let's dilate your eye and have a look!"
No cataract. He can't see anything. Yet he is holding an image with a number that says YES cataract.
Well, okay, I can read, so my vision isn't that bad (Oh, dear god) but let's give it a month, come back and see if the machine says the invisible cataract has progressed any. If it's still there and still invisible, you can have a referral to a cataract specialist. Oh, this has gone on so long, all the techs are at lunch. Well, they'll call you to make an appointment when they get back.
They still haven't called me, I guess they've been at lunch since yesterday.
I want my money back. I really, really do. If I have early-onset cataracts they missed, I did not have the information I needed to consent to that surgery. I don't think it's going to happen, though. Cataract surgery would be covered, if I just got a regular lens. But if I'm letting them cut into my eyeball and risk more pain and severe dry eye after all I've been through, I want a better lens - if that would work for me. God alone knows how I'll find a doctor whose opinion I trust to ask about that.
I still have no idea why the left eye is blurry and THEY CAN'T SEE ANY CATARACTS. This doctor is painfully nonchalant about having no idea WTF is going on. Hey, the surgery was a success! I can read! According to him! I don't have the endurance to draw or the speed to drive, but that's cool. No big deal.
Bleh. This is probably poorly-worded, with typos, but this is what's going on with me. This is what I'm trying to accomplish while still telling stories and enjoying life as the world falls apart. I'm a little tired and distracted, that's all.

Benefits of Testosterone Shots for Women
Tumblr media
In the intricate world of hormones, testosterone often takes the limelight as a male hormone. However, its significance in women's health is gaining much-deserved attention.
Testosterone therapy for women is an emerging topic within the medical community, driven by a growing understanding of hormonal balance and its profound impact on well-being.
The Basics of Testosterone Therapy for Women
Testosterone therapy for women might sound unconventional at first glance. Yet, it serves as a critical intervention for many experiencing hormonal imbalances.
In essence, testosterone therapy involves supplementing or replacing testosterone to achieve optimal levels within the female body.
This type of therapy can be administered through various forms such as creams, patches, injections or even pills. Each method has its unique benefits and challenges in terms of absorption rates and convenience.
The choice of administration depends largely on personal preference and specific medical advice given by healthcare professionals.
Understanding Hormonal Imbalance
Hormonal imbalances can significantly impact women's daily lives, leading to a variety of physical and emotional symptoms. These imbalances often stem from several factors, including natural life stages and certain medical conditions.
Here are some of the primary causes of hormonal fluctuations in women:
Aging: Natural decline in estrogen and progesterone levels can lead to health issues.
Menopause: Marks a significant decrease in hormone production, causing symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): Elevated androgen levels disrupt menstrual cycles.
Thyroid Disorders: Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can cause hormonal imbalances.
Stress: Chronic stress raises cortisol levels, affecting other hormone production.
Diet and Nutrition: Poor nutrition, especially low-fat diets, can lower estrogen levels.
Medications: Hormonal contraceptives and other drugs can alter hormone levels.
Medical Conditions: Conditions like diabetes and autoimmune diseases can lead to hormonal fluctuations.
Hormones function as messengers in the body, regulating mood, energy, and metabolism. When they become imbalanced, it can lead to debilitating mental and physical symptoms.
Diagnosing hormonal imbalances requires a comprehensive approach, often involving blood tests and symptom evaluations.
Treatment typically includes tailored plans that combine lifestyle modifications with hormonal interventions, such as testosterone therapy.
Why Testosterone Matters for Women
Testosterone, often viewed as a male hormone, plays a crucial role in women's health. It influences bone density, muscle strength, and cognitive performance.
Adequate testosterone levels support cardiovascular health and significantly boost libido, enhancing overall quality of life.
Testosterone also helps protect against osteoporosis, especially post-menopause, when declining estrogen levels increase vulnerability. Maintaining balanced hormones, including testosterone, is essential for women's health.
Common Symptoms of Low Testosterone in Females
Low testosterone levels in females can lead to a range of symptoms that significantly impact daily life. It's important to recognize these symptoms early, as they can often be mistaken for other issues.
Here’s a list of common symptoms associated with low testosterone levels in women:
Chronic Fatigue: Persistent tiredness that doesn’t improve with adequate rest.
Decreased Motivation: A noticeable decline in motivation and drive, affecting daily activities and goals.
Depressive Episodes: Feelings of sadness or hopelessness that may be mistaken for psychological issues rather than hormonal imbalances.
Reduced Libido: A decrease in sexual desire, which can affect relationships and personal well-being.
Mood Swings: Increased irritability or mood fluctuations that can be disruptive to daily life.
Cognitive Issues: Difficulty concentrating or “brain fog,” impacting work and social interactions.
Muscle Weakness: A noticeable decrease in muscle strength and endurance.
Bone Density Loss: Increased risk of osteoporosis or fractures due to reduced bone density.
Sleep Disturbances: Problems with falling asleep or staying asleep, leading to further fatigue.
Weight Gain: Unexplained weight gain, particularly around the abdomen, despite a healthy lifestyle.
How to Treat Low Testosterone in Females
youtube
Treating low testosterone in women typically involves a combination of lifestyle changes and medical interventions. Here are some common approaches:
Testosterone Therapy
This may include injections, patches, or topical gels. The choice of therapy will depend on individual needs and medical advice.
Lifestyle Modifications
Exercise: Regular physical activity, especially strength training, can enhance testosterone levels.
Diet: A balanced diet rich in healthy fats (like omega-3s) can support hormone production.
Stress Management: Practices like yoga, meditation, or deep-breathing exercises can help reduce stress and support hormonal balance.
Monitoring
Regular follow-ups with healthcare providers to monitor hormone levels and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Addressing Underlying Conditions
Treating any underlying medical conditions that may contribute to hormonal imbalances is crucial for effective management.

Best Gynecomastia Treatment in Kerala
Gynecomastia Treatment in Kerala: Regain Your Confidence with Effective Solutions
Gynecomastia, commonly referred to as “man boobs,” is a condition that can significantly impact a man’s self-confidence and emotional well-being. If you’re living with gynecomastia, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. Many men across the world experience this condition, and fortunately, it’s treatable. For those in Kerala, there are numerous treatment options available, ranging from lifestyle changes to surgical interventions, all aimed at restoring your confidence and improving your quality of life. In this comprehensive blog post, we’ll delve into everything you need to know about gynecomastia treatment in Kerala— its causes, symptoms, treatment options, and how you can choose the right surgeon to help you achieve the results you desire.
What is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is the abnormal enlargement of breast tissue in men, often caused by an imbalance in the levels of estrogen and testosterone. This condition can affect one or both breasts and is generally benign, meaning it’s not typically linked to serious health problems. However, for many men, the physical changes can lead to significant psychological distress, social embarrassment, and a loss of self-esteem.
The condition can affect men of all ages, from adolescents to older adults. While it is particularly common during puberty, it can also occur later in life due to aging, medication use, or underlying health conditions. Regardless of the cause, gynecomastia is a treatable condition, and gynecomastia treatment in Kerala offers a variety of solutions to address this issue.
Causes of Gynecomastia
To effectively treat gynecomastia, it’s important to first understand the causes. Several factors can contribute to the development of gynecomastia, including:
1. Hormonal Imbalances The most common cause of gynecomastia is a hormonal imbalance between estrogen and testosterone. While testosterone promotes male traits, estrogen controls female traits, including breast tissue growth. When the balance of these hormones is disrupted — either by a drop in testosterone or an increase in estrogen — breast tissue may begin to enlarge.
2. Medications Certain medications are known to cause gynecomastia as a side effect. These include drugs used to treat heart conditions, ulcers, prostate issues, and certain psychiatric disorders. If your gynecomastia is medication-induced, your doctor may recommend switching to an alternative treatment or adjusting your dosage.
3. Substance Use The use of recreational drugs like marijuana, anabolic steroids, and alcohol can also contribute to gynecomastia. These substances can disrupt the body’s natural hormonal balance, leading to the development of excess breast tissue.
4. Health Conditions Underlying health issues such as liver disease, kidney failure, and hyperthyroidism can also lead to gynecomastia. These conditions affect the body’s ability to regulate hormones, which can result in an overproduction of estrogen or a decrease in testosterone.
5. Natural Aging As men age, their testosterone levels naturally decline, while estrogen levels remain relatively stable. This shift in hormonal balance can cause gynecomastia to develop, especially in men over the age of 50.
How Common is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is more common than you might think. Studies suggest that more than 30% of men will experience this condition at some point in their lives. It’s particularly prevalent during puberty, as hormonal changes are at their peak, but it can also occur in adulthood, especially in men who are overweight or use certain medications. Despite its prevalence, many men feel embarrassed or ashamed to discuss gynecomastia, but it’s important to remember that it’s a common and treatable condition.
Treatment Options for Gynecomastia in Kerala
If you’re living with gynecomastia and seeking treatment in Kerala, you’re in luck — Kerala is home to numerous skilled medical professionals and advanced treatment options. Whether your condition is mild or severe, there’s a solution that can help you regain your confidence. Here’s an overview of the most common treatment options available for gynecomastia treatment in Kerala.
1. Observation and Lifestyle Changes
For some men, particularly those going through puberty, gynecomastia may resolve on its own without the need for medical intervention. In these cases, your doctor may recommend simply monitoring the condition over time. Additionally, adopting certain lifestyle changes can help reduce the severity of gynecomastia. These changes include:
- Regular Exercise: Focusing on strength training and cardio can help reduce excess fat around the chest and improve muscle tone, which may help minimize the appearance of gynecomastia. - Balanced Diet: Eating a healthy, balanced diet that’s low in processed foods and high in lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables can aid in weight loss, which may help alleviate the condition. - Avoiding Triggers: Reducing alcohol consumption and avoiding recreational drugs, including steroids, can help prevent the worsening of gynecomastia.
While lifestyle changes may not completely eliminate gynecomastia, they can significantly reduce the severity of the condition and improve your overall health.
2. Medications
For men whose gynecomastia is caused by a hormonal imbalance, medication may be an effective treatment option. Hormonal therapy can help regulate estrogen and testosterone levels, addressing the root cause of the condition. Some medications that are commonly prescribed for gynecomastia include:
- Tamoxifen: This drug is typically used to treat breast cancer but has been shown to reduce the size of breast tissue in men with gynecomastia. - Aromatase Inhibitors: These medications work by blocking the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, helping to restore hormonal balance.
It’s important to note that medications are usually more effective in the early stages of gynecomastia and may take several months to show results. Your doctor will evaluate your condition to determine whether medication is the right course of action.
3. Surgical Intervention
For men with more severe or persistent gynecomastia, surgery may be the best option. Gynecomastia surgery in Kerala is widely available and is performed by highly skilled plastic surgeons. The surgical procedure, known as reduction mammoplasty, involves the removal of excess breast tissue and fat. In some cases, liposuction may also be used to remove additional fat deposits and contour the chest area.
What to Expect During Gynecomastia Surgery
- Consultation: The first step is to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia treatment. During this consultation, the surgeon will evaluate your condition, discuss your goals, and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.   - The Procedure: Gynecomastia surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1–2 hours. The surgeon will make small incisions around the areola or under the arm to remove excess breast tissue. If necessary, liposuction will be used to further sculpt the chest area.
- Recovery: After surgery, you can expect some swelling and discomfort, but these symptoms usually subside within a few weeks. Most patients can return to normal activities within a week, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for about a month to ensure proper healing.
Gynecomastia surgery has a high success rate, and many men report feeling more confident and satisfied with their appearance following the procedure.
Choosing the Right Surgeon for Gynecomastia Treatment in Kerala
When it comes to gynecomastia treatment in Kerala, choosing the right surgeon is crucial for achieving a successful outcome. Kerala is home to many experienced plastic surgeons who specialize in gynecomastia treatment, but it’s important to do your research and select a surgeon who meets your specific needs. Here are some factors to consider when choosing a surgeon:
- Experience: Look for a surgeon who has extensive experience performing gynecomastia surgeries. Review their qualifications and ensure that they are board-certified. - Patient Reviews: Reading reviews from previous patients can provide valuable insight into the surgeon’s skill level, bedside manner, and overall patient satisfaction. - Before-and-After Photos: Many surgeons provide before-and-after photos of previous gynecomastia surgeries. Reviewing these images can give you a sense of what to expect in terms of results.
Taking the time to find the right surgeon will ensure that you feel confident and comfortable throughout the treatment process.
Cost of Gynecomastia Treatment in Kerala
The cost of gynecomastia treatment in Kerala can vary depending on several factors, including the severity of the condition and the type of treatment you choose. Here’s a breakdown of the typical costs:
- Surgical Treatment: Gynecomastia surgery in Kerala typically ranges from INR 50,000 to INR 1,00,000. While this option may be more expensive, it offers immediate and long-lasting results. - Non-Surgical Treatments: Medications and lifestyle changes may be less expensive but may require ongoing costs for continued treatment.
It’s important to discuss the cost of treatment with your surgeon during your consultation to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the expenses involved.
Life After Gynecomastia Treatment
Undergoing gynecomastia treatment in Kerala can be life-changing for many men. After treatment, whether through surgery, medication, or lifestyle changes, many men report feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies. They no longer feel the need to hide their chest or avoid activities like swimming, going to the gym, or wearing fitted clothing. The psychological benefits of treatment can be just as profound as the physical results.
Conclusion
If you’re living with gynecomastia, it’s important to know that help is available. Whether you choose to manage the condition through lifestyle changes, medications, or surgery, gynecomastia treatment in Kerala offers a variety of effective solutions.

Boosting Female Libido with Functional Medicine
In today’s fast-paced world, many women struggle with low libido. This can be frustrating and can affect personal relationships and overall quality of life. While traditional medicine typically focuses on symptom management, holistic medicine takes a holistic approach, aiming to identify the cause of low libido comes to the nerves and deal with it Here is how supplements can help women increase their libido in an effective and sustainable manner.
Understanding Female Libido
A complex combination of physical, emotional, and psychological factors influence women’s libido or sexuality. Hormonal imbalances, stress, poor nutrition, and underlying health conditions can all contribute to decreased sex drive. Functional medicine seeks to understand these contributing factors and offer individualized treatment plans.
Key Factors Influencing Libido
Hormonal Balance:
Estrogen and Testosterone: These hormones play a crucial role in sexual desire. Imbalances, often due to menopause, perimenopause, or hormonal contraceptives, can significantly impact libido.
Thyroid Hormones: Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism can affect energy levels and mood, indirectly influencing sexual desire.
Stress and Mental Health:
Chronic stress raises cortisol levels, which can suppress sex hormones and reduce libido.
Mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety can also reduce sexual pleasure
Nutrition and Lifestyle:
Diet and lifestyle: Poor diet, lack of exercise, and inadequate sleep can negatively affect both health and sexual function.
Low levels of certain nutrients, such as zinc and magnesium, are associated with decreased appetite.
Underlying Health Conditions:
Conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune disorders can affect sexual health.
Medications for these conditions might have side effects that reduce libido.
Functional Medicine Approaches to Boost Libido
Comprehensive Hormonal Testing:
Comprehensive hormone tests are performed by pharmacists to identify imbalances. Treatments may include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) to restore optimal estrogen and testosterone levels.
Stress Management Techniques:
Techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and acupuncture can help lower cortisol levels and improve mental well-being.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is effective for addressing anxiety and depression.
Nutritional Interventions:
A diet rich in whole foods, healthy fats, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates supports overall health and hormone production.
Specific supplements, like omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and adaptogenic herbs (e.g., maca, ashwagandha), can boost libido.
Lifestyle Modifications:
Regular exercise improves blood flow, energy levels and mood, all of which are beneficial for sex drive.
Setting a priority and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule increases both well-being and desire.
Addressing Underlying Health Issues:
Functional medicine aims to treat the root cause of health problems. By managing conditions like diabetes or thyroid disorders, libido often improves as a result.
Personalized Treatment Plans
Functional medicine emphasizes personalized care. Practitioners consider an individual's unique health history, lifestyle, and preferences when creating low libido treatment plans. This tailored approach ensures more effective and sustainable results compared to one-size-fits-all solutions.
Conclusion
Boosting female libido through functional medicine is a holistic and personalized journey. By addressing hormonal imbalances, managing stress, improving nutrition, and treating underlying health conditions, functional medicine offers a comprehensive approach to enhancing sexual desire. Women seeking to revive their libido can benefit from the integrative and personalized strategies that functional medicine provides, leading to improved health and a more fulfilling sex life.
For women experiencing low libido, consulting with a functional medicine practitioner can be a transformative step towards regaining sexual health and overall vitality

Hormonal Imbalance In Females- Common Causes, Treatment and Management
Tumblr media
The body produces some precise amount of each hormone necessary for different processes to ensure your health. Basically, hormones are chemical signals that have a powerful impact on your mental, physical and emotional well-being. The sedentary lifestyle and Western diets can affect the hormonal balance of your body. Moreover, the hormone levels decrease as you age, certain individuals experience an unusual imbalance.
This imbalance can drive dozens of medical issues and for the majority of hormones present, too much or little can cause symptoms and problems regarding your health. Although most imbalances need medical treatment, some are temporary and disappear by themselves.
Hormonal Imbalance Explained
Hormones are chemical substances created by different glands and tissues that form an integral part of the endocrine system. Hormones reach all of the organs and tissues in the body through the bloodstream as they transmit messages to organs informing them about the function to be done and when.
The working mechanism of the hormones include regulation of various bodily processes, including regulating appetite, metabolism, sleep cycles, stress levels and other similar activities. Since they influence a variety of functions, imbalances in specific hormones can cause discomforting symptoms.
A hormonal imbalance is when an individual has too much or less of a specific hormone, like cortisol, insulin or androgens, thyroxine and progesterone where even a slight change can cause significant changes to the body. Certain hormonal imbalances are temporary, while others can be persistent. Additionally, certain hormonal imbalances require treatment to ensure your physical health, while others might impact your overall health.
Conditions Caused By Hormonal Imbalance
Mentioned down here are some conditions that a female body may undergo when they experience hormonal imbalance:
Menstrual Irregularities:
So many hormones play a role during the cycle of menstruation which is the reason an imbalance in hormones can lead to irregular menstrual periods. Certain hormone-related disorders that can produce irregular periods are polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and amenorrhea.
Infertility:
Hormonal imbalances become the primary reason for infertility among women causing hormone-related disorders like PCOS and anovulation.
Extreme Fatigue:
Obviously getting tired is a very common thing but if you’re always tired, you may be suffering from an issue in the thyroid gland as the constant fatigue is a sign of issues with thyroid hormone Thyroxine. Additionally, an imbalance in hormones can lead to insufficient sleep and increased stress, resulting in increased fatigue.
Acne:
A hormonal imbalance could explain the appearance of acne prior to your period. The hormonal changes can cause acne and can exacerbate skin issues.
Diabetes:
The most common endocrine hormone-related disease is diabetes where the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the body doesn’t make it in a proper way. The common types of diabetes include Type 2, Type 1 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.
Thyroid Disease:
The two most common kinds of thyroid diseases include hypothyroidism- low thyroid hormone levels and hyperthyroidism- high levels of thyroid hormone, and each one of them has a variety of possible reasons which definitely requires treatment.
Obesity:
A variety of hormones influence the way your body communicates that you require food and the way your body utilizes energy and an imbalance in certain hormones could cause weight gain through fat accumulation.
Common Symptoms
Listed below are some common symptoms that a woman may face if there is Hormonal Imbalance in her body:
The Causes
Every person experiences natural cycles of hormonal imbalances or fluctuations at certain times throughout their lives, but hormonal imbalances could be a result when  endocrine glands in the body aren’t functioning well. These are basically the cells which store and produce hormones and release them into blood.
There are a variety of glands of the endocrine system throughout the body, which control various organs including:
Tests To Determine The Cause of Hormonal Imbalance
Hormonal imbalance can occur because of natural life changes, including puberty, pregnancy and menopausal changes and sometimes due to numerous medical conditions can also alter hormones. It is therefore important to visit a physician to determine the root of the problem when you suffer specific symptoms.
Blood tests for hormones can include:
Estrogen Test: to help identify infertility, menstrual issues, and ED
Progesterone Test: To help diagnose abnormal bleeding, infertility and adrenal gland problems
FSH Test: To help diagnose infertility and problems with the Ovaries.
TSH Test: To see how well your thyroid is performing.
DHEA Sulfate test: Tests the adrenal gland’s function, conditions of the ovaries, testicles and body hair that is excessive in females.
How can you correct the imbalance in hormones?
Some medical conditions causing hormonal imbalances, like thyroid and diabetes, may require medical attention immediately. There are many nutritional supplements that advertise that they can treat various hormonal imbalances, however only a few have been tested scientifically to be beneficial. Thus, it is important to talk with your doctor before taking supplements.
In addition to medical treatment, your doctor may suggest specific lifestyle modifications to control a hormone imbalance, like reducing your stress levels and engaging in regular exercise.
Balancing Hormones Through Lifestyle Changes
Listed below are some altercations that a person may make in their routinely life to manage their hormone imbalance:
Following exercise routine is a major factor for balancing hormones as apart from increasing blood flow to muscles, exercise enhances the sensitivity of hormone receptors and thus increases the flow of nutrients and hormone signals.
When you are in a stressful condition, the body releases various hormones like adrenaline and cortisol that trigger the fight or flight response. Some management approach to lessen stress includes:
When an individual suffers hormonal imbalance, reducing the sugar intake can help in optimizing the function of hormones, while preventing developing diabetes, obesity and other ailments. Moreover, sweetened drinks are the most significant sources of sugar added to the Western diet and fructose found in soft drinks, fruit juices, energy drinks, etc. Thus, reducing the consumption of drinks containing sugar can boost your hormone health.
Whatever diet you consume routinely or how regular exercise you do, getting adequate restorative night sleep holds equal importance to ensure good health as sleep deprivation can cause problems with several hormones, including cortisol, insulin and HGH. Thus, to maintain a healthy hormonal balance, you should aim for seven hours of quality sleep every night.
Conclusion
The symptoms involving unusual changes in weight, irregular menstrual cycles and skin conditions can majorly occur due to hormonal imbalance. Thus, it is possible to treat hormonal imbalance, however it’s essential to visit a physician to determine the cause. The results of blood tests will usually tell you whether your levels are within normal levels.
If you suspect a hormone imbalance or have particular concerns, visit Shanti Super Speciality Hospital immediately to check with the experts for more details. With years of expertise, the doctors here offer individualized advice and conduct tests, while suggesting appropriate treatment plans to correct the hormone issues in your body.

Why Women Experience Infertility and Dr. Niveditha Kamaraj’s solutions on How to Prevent It
Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples, with various factors contributing to the challenge of conception. Identifying the causes often involves understanding individual circumstances and medical evaluations. Aakash Fertility Hospital in Chennai is known for its exceptional treatment for women facing infertility. Dr. Niveditha Kamaraj continues to provide excellent care and support to those seeking infertility problems. While infertility in women may not manifest evident symptoms, irregular menstrual cycles or the absence of ovulation are common indicators. Here are some key causes:
Hormonal Problems: Irregular hormonal changes crucial for ovum development and uterine lining thickening can impede fertility. Conditions like hyperprolactinemia, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism may disrupt ovulation.
Cervical Issues: Some women may have conditions, such as cervical canal atresia, making it challenging for sperm to penetrate.
Fallopian Tube Damage: Infections, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or pelvic surgeries can damage the fallopian tubes, hindering the journey of fertilized eggs from the ovaries to the uterus.
Uterine Problems: Fibroids and polyps in the uterus can cause obstacles to pregnancy.
Pelvic Adhesions: Scar tissue from pelvic infections or endometriosis may lead to adhesions that bind organs, potentially causing infertility.
Ovulation Problems: Irregular or absent ovulation, often due to issues with hormone regulation or external factors like stress, excessive exercise, or eating disorders, is a common cause of female infertility.
Pituitary Dysfunction: Disturbances in luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) production by the pituitary gland can affect ovulation.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS): Hormonal imbalances associated with PCOS can interfere with ovulation, making it a prevalent cause of infertility. Book your appointment today with a fertility gynaecologist at Aakash IVF Hospital, the No.1 fertility hospital in Chennai. Take the first step towards your fertility journey.
Primary Ovarian Insufficiency: The ovaries may not function correctly, leading to a premature decline in egg production, often before the age of 40.
Hyperprolactinemia: Excess prolactin release may reduce estrogen levels, impacting fertility.
Unexplained Infertility: In some cases, the specific cause remains unidentified, possibly arising from multiple factors in both partners.
Preventive measures -IVF expert Dr.Niveditha Kamaraj
Manage Stress Levels: High stress levels have been linked to reduced success in infertility treatments. Adopting stress-reducing techniques or activities can positively impact reproductive health.
Maintain a Healthy Body Mass Index (BMI): Both underweight and overweight conditions can affect fertility. Striving for a healthy BMI through balanced nutrition and moderate exercise is advisable.
Stay Active with Regular Exercise: Moderate and regular physical activity can contribute to overall well-being and a healthy reproductive system. However, excessive or intense exercise may have adverse effects on fertility, so finding a balance is key.
Ensure a Nutrient-Rich Diet: A well-balanced and nutritious diet is essential for reproductive health. Adequate intake of vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients supports overall well-being and fertility.
Maintain Regular Menstrual Cycles: Monitoring and addressing irregularities in menstrual cycles can provide insights into potential ovulation issues. Consulting with a healthcare provider if irregularities persist is advisable.
Undergo Regular Check-ups: Routine gynecological check-ups can help identify and address any reproductive health issues early on. Timely medical intervention can prevent or manage conditions that might affect fertility.
Consider Fertility Education: Understanding one’s reproductive cycle and the fertile window can aid in optimizing the timing of intercourse for conception. Fertility education can empower couples with knowledge about the best times for trying to conceive.
Limit Exposure to Environmental Toxins: Minimizing exposure to environmental toxins, such as certain chemicals and pollutants, is advisable. Prolonged exposure to certain substances may have adverse effects on fertility.
Book an appointment with Aakash Fertility Hospital today for expert guidance from Niveditha Kamaraj and Jeyarani Kamaraj to address infertility problems.

5 Common Endocrine Disorders Affecting Female Fertility
Tumblr media
Our endocrine system includes various glands that are responsible for controlling important body processes and the production of hormones. Any imbalance in the hormonal levels can be the major cause behind the development of endocrine disorders, which not only impacts your mood, and weight but also increases the risks of infertility.
If you’re having issues conceiving a baby and also suffer from any endocrine disorders or have hormonal imbalances then you can contact an infertility specialist to avail of IVF in Siliguri. The IVF treatment will assist you in having a successful pregnancy despite the ovulation issues developed due to the endocrine disorders.
Given below are some of the most common endocrine disorders that have a huge impact on female fertility rates.
Diabetes
Diabetes is the most common endocrine disorder that decreases the lifespan of the female reproductive system. The high sugar levels in the blood in diabetic patients have been found as a major cause behind premature ovarian aging, which often leads to early menopause and hence, infertility. Uncontrolled diabetes can also degrade the micro-environment of the egg and reduce the egg quality, ovarian hormone synthesis, and ovulation process. The chance of pelvic organ infections especially in the fallopian tubes and ovaries also increases with diabetes which also higher the chances of infertility.
Tumblr media
Amenorrhea
Amenorrhea is another endocrine disorder that affects your menstrual cycle and reduces the chances of getting pregnant. Primary and secondary amenorrhea are the two main types of this health condition which leads to missed periods. Amenorrhea not only leads to missed periods but also causes unsuccessful ovary function. This condition is not directly related to infertility but it is obvious that without menstrual periods and ovulation, it is impossible to become pregnant.
Hypo and Hyperthyroidism
Hypothyroidism is an endocrine disorder that is also associated with female infertility. This is because, with this health condition, the thyroid gland becomes unable to produce the essential hormones. Low thyroid hormone levels interfere with the process of releasing eggs which further causes infertility. On the other hand, hyperthyroidism also develops various complications in the female reproductive system that make it difficult to get pregnant. Some of the fertility issues developed by this disorder are preeclampsia, loss of pregnancy, and menstrual disruptions.
PCOS
PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome is an endocrine disorder, which is a well-known cause of infertility. Hormonal imbalance is the major symptom of PCOS that interferes with the ovulation process and growth of the embryo. The increased chances of miscarriage, spontaneous abortion, insulin resistance, reduced quality of oocytes, and anovulation are also associated with PCOS. PCOS can also increase the chances of developing ovarian cysts and irregular periods, which can also reduce fertility rates.
Tumblr media
Cushing's Disease
The increased production of cortisol is the key complication of Cushing’s disease that can negatively impact the female reproductive system. The chances of developing amenorrhea and menstrual irregularities also increase with it. This disease also suppresses the essential pituitary hormones required for proper ovary function, which leads to infertility. Availing of the effective treatments of IVF in Siliguri can be the best way to enjoy parenthood if you’re suffering from serious endocrine disorders that are affecting your fertility. You can also indulge in lifestyle improvements such as maintaining a healthy weight, eating a proper diet, and exercising to reduce the risks of endocrine disorders.

Vitamin B12 and Folate: Important for red blood cell production, neurological function, and DNA synthesis. Deficiencies can cause anemia, fatigue, and neurological issues.
Iron Levels: Essential for oxygen transport in the blood. Low levels can result in anemia, causing symptoms like fatigue and weakness.
Calcium and Magnesium: Crucial for bone health, muscle function, and cardiovascular health. Deficiencies can lead to bone density loss and muscle cramps.

Ayurveda treatment for Hyporthyroidism and Hyperthyroidism
Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are two common thyroid disorders that affect the function of the thyroid gland. Here will discuss in details about Ayurveda treatment for Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism
What is Hypothyroidism?
Hypothyroidism is a medical condition characterized by an underactive thyroid gland, meaning that the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones. The thyroid gland, located in the front of the neck, plays a crucial role in regulating the body’s metabolism and energy levels. When it fails to produce adequate amounts of thyroid hormones, it leads to a slowdown in various bodily functions.
The most common cause of hypothyroidism is an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, causing inflammation and damage. Other causes include thyroid surgery, radiation therapy, certain medications, or congenital factors.
Risk factors of Hypothyroidism
There are several risk factors that can increase the likelihood of developing the condition. Age and gender are both important risk factors Other risk factors include a family history of thyroid problems, previous thyroid surgery or radiation therapy, and certain medical conditions such as type 1 diabetes, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, iodine deficiency, certain medications, and exposure to environmental toxins can also increase the risk of developing hypothyroidism.
What is Hyperthyroidism?
Hyperthyroidism is a medical condition characterized by an overactive thyroid gland. The thyroid gland, located in the front of the neck, produces hormones that regulate the body’s metabolism. When the thyroid gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormones, it leads to an accelerated metabolic rate and various symptoms associated with hyperthyroidism.
The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is an autoimmune disorder called Graves’ disease, where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, causing it to produce too much thyroid hormone. Other potential causes include thyroid nodules (abnormal growths within the thyroid gland), thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid), or the use of certain medications.
Risk factor of Hyperthyroidism
There are several risk factors that may increase a person’s chances of developing the condition. These include a family history of thyroid disorders, female gender, age over 60, and radiation exposure. Other factors such as high intake of iodine, certain medications, and stress can also contribute to the development of hyperthyroidism. Being aware of these risk factors and regularly monitoring thyroid function can help in early diagnosis and effective treatment of the condition.
Diagnosis
Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can be diagnosed with blood tests that measure levels of thyroid hormones and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Treatment for hypothyroidism usually involves daily thyroid hormone replacement medication, while treatment for hyperthyroidism may involve medications to block the production of thyroid hormone or, in some cases, radioactive iodine therapy or surgery to remove the thyroid gland. Reach out to Top Ayurvedic Hospital to know more.
Symptoms of Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism
The symptoms of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can vary widely, and some people may not have any symptoms at all. Here are some common symptoms of each condition:
Symptoms of Hypothyroidism:
Fatigue
Weight gain
Cold intolerance
Constipation
Dry skin
Hair loss
Depression
Memory problems
Slow heart rate
Muscle weakness
Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism:
Weight loss
Nervousness or anxiety
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Tremors in the hands and fingers
Increased sweating
Heat intolerance
Difficulty sleeping
Diarrhea or frequent bowel movements
Muscle weakness
Bulging eyes (in Graves’ disease, a type of hyperthyroidism)
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to see a healthcare provider for evaluation and treatment.
Ayurveda View about Thyroid Disorder
In Ayurveda, thyroid disorders are seen as imbalances in the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and disturbances in the body’s energy pathways. The specific Ayurvedic view and approach to thyroid disorders can vary depending on the individual’s constitution (prakriti), the nature of the imbalance (vikriti), and the type of thyroid disorder present (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism). Here are some general principles and Ayurvedic perspectives on thyroid disorders:
Imbalance of Vata and Kapha: Ayurveda considers hypothyroidism as primarily related to an imbalance of Vata and Kapha doshas. Vata imbalance may cause dryness, coldness, and reduced metabolic function, while Kapha imbalance may lead to congestion, sluggishness, and weight gain.
Aggravated Pitta in hyperthyroidism: Hyperthyroidism, on the other hand, is viewed as an excess of Pitta dosha. Pitta imbalance can result in increased heat, inflammation, and excessive metabolic activity.
Impaired Agni (Digestive Fire): Ayurveda places great emphasis on Agni, the digestive fire responsible for the transformation and assimilation of nutrients. Impaired Agni is considered a contributing factor to thyroid disorders. Digestive imbalances, poor diet, and lifestyle choices can weaken Agni and lead to thyroid dysfunction.
Toxins and Ama: Ayurveda recognizes the accumulation of toxins and ama (undigested waste) in the body as a factor in thyroid disorders. Ama can block the energy channels and disrupt the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.
Diet and Lifestyle: Ayurvedic recommendations for thyroid disorders often involve dietary and lifestyle modifications. This may include consuming foods that support the balanced functioning of the thyroid gland, such as cooked vegetables, whole grains, and nourishing herbs. Regular exercise, stress management techniques, and maintaining a daily routine are also emphasized.
Herbal Remedies: Ayurvedic herbal preparations are commonly used to support thyroid health. Some herbs believed to have positive effects on the thyroid include Ashwagandha, Guggulu, Brahmi, and Shilajit. These herbs are thought to help balance the doshas, improve metabolic function, and support overall well-being.
Panchakarma: Panchakarma, a comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda, may be recommended in certain cases to eliminate toxins, balance the doshas, and restore overall health and metabolism
AYURVEDA TREATMENT FOR HYPOTHYROIDISM & HYPERTHYROIDISM:
Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine from India, considers hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as disorders of the throat chakra and treats them using a holistic approach that includes lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, herbal remedies, and Shodhana Chikitsa or detoxification therapies.
Shodhana Chikitsa, which includes Panchakarma Treatments like Virechana, Vamana, and Basti, is an effective treatment approach for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism in Ayurveda. These therapies aim to remove toxins and balance the doshas or energies in the body to restore health.
Virechana is a purgative therapy that involves the use of herbal laxatives to eliminate toxins from the body. Vamana is a therapeutic vomiting therapy that helps to remove excess phlegm and toxins from the upper gastrointestinal tract. Basti is an enema therapy that helps to remove accumulated toxins from the colon.
Apart from shodhana chikitsa, Ayurveda also recommends herbal remedies like Ashwagandha, Guggulu, and Shilajit for hypothyroidism, and herbs like Brahmi, Guggulu, and Jatamansi for hyperthyroidism. Along with these remedies, Ayurveda also recommends a balanced diet, stress management techniques, and regular exercise to manage thyroid disorders. Ayurveda treatment for Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism helps to manage disorder properly
