he viewed his work as work and nothing else. maybe it was because that's all he's ever done since he was young but at a certain point he did realise that trying to make sense of something like that only caused unnecessary hassle. perhaps that's why it was easier for scientists to dehumanise their experiments. so they didn't have to face those very human emotions that weighed a mind down. so yes, maybe it was in a sense a complete disregard for the lives of others. if it meant enhancing it or improving it in some manner. that the end justifies the means.
