I'm just reading your tags to one of your posts (as one does) and you have to apply to be in an RPS group... I'm sorRY, WHAT?!

Oh wow, I just saw your question. Sorry for the late (??) reply. The requirements to join RPS groups are usually stricter than FPS because there're more real-life implications. CN fandom is crazy "political". being a professional fan is a real job, and those yxhs (blogs with an agenda) do try to stir up drama every other day or so.

CN fandom culture is... it's very complicated in comparison (to ours). I wouldn't even know where to start if I have to explain it. But the primary reason more "checks" exist for RPS is because the admins want to make sure that the fans who only support one actor (especially those girlfriend fans - aka I wish I could be XXX's girlfriend) don't come in and spoil the group for everyone. 

There's a lifecycle for any drama cp (couple) of dissolving the relationship (解绑), but once in a blue moon, the fans argue and tear up the CP (撕逼) before the show is even over. I think international fans are generally more sceptical about this and don't want to believe bad things about their faves. Still, celebrities almost always know and tacitly agree to the breaking up of their drama cp (through their official fan club and actor studio). To be honest, I think it's normal, expected behaviour. 

M/F couples can't keep on with it for too long for obvious reasons, and if their relationship is real, there's a good chance they can announce it during promotions. 

M/M couples in danmei adaptations are usually of the same "type" - 20-30 in age, tall, handsome, lead actor types. These actors know they're each other's competition. Not to rain on danmei RPS-fans’ parades, but how close can they really get with each other, and how much of it is just acting for the cameras for popularity? I'm not saying other drama cps didn't have a good relationship at the time of filming. Still, after the show finishes its run, when there's no longer a need to be so friendly, personal benefit always takes precedence. (I don't think there's anything wrong with it personally)

When Wang laoshi (Zhao Jing) was sharing LLD "sugar" with the fans, he said one thing that made my heart go squishy. It wasn't about them eating meals or anything like that - he didn't expect them to have such a good relationship with each other because men always recognise professional competition (like how two women would as well).

It makes all the little things and tricks that Zhang Zhehan taught Gong Jun (seemingly) without reservation very sweet? When I think of GJ talking about how no one is willing to teach him when he first started acting, even though everything he learned in school wasn't practical, and his answer in Ace Actress on what's laopo's best quality as an actor, I'm all melty inside.

Gong Jun has always had quite a lot of crazy (sisheng) fans, and now he has some very young ones. His constant “protection” of ZZH from them is very sweet. 

Okay, I could write an essay on them, so I'm just going to stop lol. Personally, RPS or BFFs... I don't know or care, but I'd be super happy if they could even someday end up like the "HuHuo" cp.
