A limited-edition drop, hummel’s latest partnership envisions a striking new interpretation of one of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes, the Marathona. “The idea was to go back to the late 80s and the early 90s – back to the source of streetwear, to a graphic look and to a time, when colours were bright and dare-full as opposed to the more cautious palettes of today. It made sense to take an iconic shoe and return to the roots and the meaning of streetwear – but still make it contemporary,” says Blackrainbow co-founder Greg Hervieux. Bright and positive in their approach, the collaboration presents a sneaker fit for summer with pops of electric neon pink throughout, sitting across a palette of grey and black reflective 3D material. The juxtaposition of black, grey and pink is repeated on the outsole of the shoe with the collection then presented alongside a set of three alternative lace options in a reflective box, mimicking the designs. HML x BKRW is available globally from April 19th 2018, with the accompanying HML x BLKRW hoody sold exclusively at hummel.net or via the Blackrainbow store. This new project follows a string of recent collaborations with leading lifestyle partners including 424 on Fairfax, MITA Sneakers in Japan, and 24 Kilates in Bangkok and Barcelona. Produced in 300 pairs, the HML x BKRW Marathona will be sold exclusively in top-tier sneaker and fashion stores globally – like Overkill, Afew, Titolo, HANON, 24 Kilates and The Good Will Out.
