Not all ants we call fireants are invasive as far as i know, though at least one is.

Kinda fucked up how invasive species can destroy the diversity of an already existing eco system ngl. They're basically playing an entirely different game like some overpowered onepunchant. And climate change is just making it easier for them by creating an environment that actually fits them in places they haven't been able to exist before.

And ants, and insects in general, are so diverse.

So many different species of ants that have evolved in the wildest of ways trying to find that one weird ass niche that fits their weirdly shaped head so they may keep predators out.

I remember as a kid there used to be black ants that didn't bite and you didn't have to worry about and fire ants (red) that did bite.

Now it seems like they're all fire ants.

Due to it being a high priority research area, the far side of the moon 🌙 is currently being explored. . Since the moon is tidally locked, one side (the near side) always faces the Earth. . To gain a better understanding about the far side of the moon, the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program launched the robotic lander and rover (top) to land on the far side (bottom right). . Lunar data reveals that the far side is heavily cratered with a layer of solidified basaltic lava deep underneath the surface composed of fine sandy like regolith. . Further research will reveal why the near side of the moon has dark basaltic plains that can be easily seen, while the far side doesn’t. . The far side of the moon is also being considered as a potential site for human colonization due to the fact that significant amounts of water ice 🧊 exists in the shadows of craters. .
