Namjoon — the captain of your ship and the man you’ve been secretly in love with since first joining the Galactic Academy — is eager to help you any way he can, but just as love begins to bloom, so does the alien flower.

Having risen from an assistant to the Chief Operations Officer at Ocean Odyssey, a prestigious cruise ship company, Jungkook knows the pressures of the corporate world better than anyone. The fear of neglecting one's partner, of being unable to balance love and the relentless demands of life, looms large.

Jungkook and Y/N have been dating for two years, and it has been six months since his promotion. He admits that this new role is one of the factors creating a gap between them. As he stepped out of his car, Jungkook's phone buzzed incessantly in his pocket, distracting him momentarily. It was a series of urgent emails and notifications from his colleagues, all mentioning an emergency meeting called for this morning. He quickly scanned through them, trying to make sense of the situation.

Confusion clouded his mind as he realized he hadn't received any prior notice about the meeting. His email inbox and phone were usually flooded with updates and reminders, but somehow, this crucial piece of information had slipped through the cracks. Perhaps it was a glitch in the company's communication system, or maybe his email server had experienced a delay. Regardless of the reason, Jungkook found himself scrambling to catch up, his heart pounding with apprehension.

Despite the lack of advance notice, Jungkook knew he couldn't afford to waste any time. He hastily gathered his belongings and made his way to the conference room, his mind racing with the possibilities of what this emergency meeting could entail.

As he entered the conference room, he saw his team assembled, their faces reflecting his own anxiety. The head of the department stood at the front, her expression grim. The gravity of the situation hung heavy in the air, and Jungkook couldn't shake the feeling of being woefully unprepared.

"Thank you all for coming in so quickly," she began. "It has come to our attention that there's a significant financial discrepancy in our latest reports. Our team is being accused of mismanaging funds, and we need to address this immediately."

Jungkook felt a chill run down his spine. Mismanaging funds? How could this have happened? They prided themselves on their meticulous work. The meeting continued with heated discussions, accusations flying, and the gravity of the situation becoming increasingly clear.

"The missing amount is 5 billion won—the funds allocated for the grand launch of our new event for our flagship cruise ship, The Pearl, including the high-profile entertainment, marketing campaign, and logistical expenses." the head of the department continued, looking around the room. "And it’s from the project Jungkook was leading."

"Wait, what?" Jungkook's eyes widened in shock. "I had no idea about any missing funds. I've been meticulously handling all transactions."

"Well, it’s your project," snapped Minho, one of his colleagues. "How could you not notice such discrepancy, aren't you a pro at your work, Jeon?"

Jungkook felt a surge of frustration at Minho's accusatory tone. He clenched his jaw, determined to prove his innocence despite the mounting pressure. "I’ve been double-checking everything," Jungkook responded firmly. "There’s no way I could’ve overlooked such a massive amount."

"So you’re saying it just vanished into thin air?" Minho retorted.

"Enough," the head of the department interjected. "We need to investigate this thoroughly before jumping to conclusions. Jungkook, provide us with all the transaction records and communications related to this project."

Jungkook nodded, his mind racing. "I’ll get everything together immediately. But please, understand I would never jeopardize the company like this."

"We're looking at major stakeholders and a media frenzy if we don't resolve this," said another senior executive. "The implications of such a significant discrepancy are dire."

Jungkook's mind raced with frustration and determination. He couldn't afford to let Minho's accusations distract him from the task at hand. "I know, but staring at your screen won't solve anything," Hoseok said gently. "Come on, let's take a break. The teams are going out for lunch, and they've been asking about you."

Jungkook shook his head. "I don't think I can, Hoseok. I need to focus on this."

"It's past lunchtime, and you haven't eaten anything," Hoseok insisted, stepping further into the office. "You need to take care of yourself too, you know."

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before relenting. "Fine, I'll come. But I can't stay long."

Hoseok smiled in relief. "Great, I'll wait for you outside."

As Hoseok turned to leave, he paused, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Oh, and by the way, someone wants to talk to you. Someone you know."

Jungkook furrowed his brow in confusion. "Who?"

Hoseok chuckled. "Remember Meiko from Marketing? She said she'll be joining us for lunch. She seemed pretty eager to catch up with you."

Internally, he felt a sense of discomfort at the thought of meeting Meiko. That girl is known as the "darling" of the Marketing Department, her charisma and confidence lighting up every room she entered. Despite her break-up scandal, which was the talk of the office grapevine for the past three months, she carried herself with an air of assurance that captivated those around her. With her short black hair elegantly styled with bangs, she effortlessly commanded attention, her striking features accentuated by her impeccable fashion sense.

Always impeccably dressed in pencil skirts and shirts with daringly low necklines, Meiko had a signature style that combined the boldness of black with the femininity of pink. Her wardrobe choices reflected her personality: bold, vivacious, and unapologetically herself. And while she was known to flirt and joke around with just about anyone she encountered there was a particular sparkle in her eye reserved for a man who caught her interest.

Despite being admired by many for her beauty and confidence, Jungkook couldn't help but feel that Meiko wasn't his cup of tea. While he appreciated her charm and magnetic presence, he knew deep down that they were worlds apart when it came to compatibility, he had no intentions beyond a professional relationship. Nevertheless, he knew he couldn't avoid the encounter, especially in the current circumstances.

"Ah... her," Jungkook muttered, trying to suppress any unease. "I'll be out in a minute."

With a final nod, Hoseok left the office, leaving Jungkook alone with his thoughts once again. What could Meiko possibly want to talk to him about now, of all times?

The panelists nodded in acknowledgment, and Y/N launched into her presentation, her passion for her research evident in every word she spoke.

"I conducted this research because of my deep concern for the environment and the well-being of rural communities," Y/N explained, her voice resonating with sincerity. "I'm sorry, but Jungkook is out for lunch with his team," the lady informed her kindly.

Disappointment washed over Y/N as she processed the news. She had been so excited to share her success with Jungkook, but it seemed she would have to wait a little longer for the perfect moment. Determined not to let it dampen her spirits, Y/N thanked the lady and decided to wait for Jungkook's return, knowing that when she finally got to deliver the news, it would be worth the wait.

As Y/N sat outside the cafe, enjoying her lunch in the perfect weather, she couldn't shake the nagging feeling of disappointment at not being able to share her success with Jungkook. Despite her attempts to focus on her meal, her mind kept wandering back to him.

Deciding to text him, she pulled out her phone and typed out a message asking what time he would come home. Sending it off, she placed her phone on the table and continued to eat, hoping for a quick response.

As she glanced up from her sandwich, something on the other side of the sidewalk caught her eye. Jungkook's team was waiting to cross the road, and she watched as they chatted and laughed amongst themselves. Her heart skipped a beat as she spotted Jungkook, his smile lighting up his face as he shared a joke with his colleagues.

But then, her gaze froze as she saw a girl approach Jungkook, her hand reaching out to adjust his necktie. Y/N's heart clenched as she watched the interaction, her mind racing with thoughts she couldn't bear to entertain. She saw the girl's lingering touch, the way she seemed to flirt with Jungkook, and her stomach churned with jealousy and insecurity.

The girl said something but Y/N was too far to read her lips or hear the voice so she just relied on the girl's flirtatious look. Jungkook was looking at the girl so Y/N wasn't able to see his reaction. Y/N's grip tightened on her sandwich as she watched the exchange, her heart sinking with each passing moment. She felt like a spectator in her own life, helpless to intervene as her worst fears played out before her eyes.

But just as she thought she couldn't bear it any longer, Jungkook gently extricated himself from the girl's touch, taking a step back with a polite nod of thanks. Relief washed over Y/N, but it was short-lived as she watched the girl continue to engage with Jungkook, leaning in a little too close for comfort. Her breath caught in her throat as the girl's hand reached out to touch Jungkook's cheek, a playful gesture that made Y/N's blood run cold. She felt a surge of anger and betrayal, her mind spiraling with thoughts of what could be happening between them.

Jungkook was surprised when he felt Meiko's warm palm on his cheek. He maintained his friendly demeanor but warned Meiko not to touch him. The girl and everyone in the company who knows him are aware that he is not available, so he doesn't get why she's still trying.

Jungkook, who is oblivious to Y/N's presence nearby, playfully wrapped his arms around Hoseok's shoulders as they crossed the road, clearly distancing himself from Meiko's advances. Despite the playful scene with Hoseok, Y/N's mind was consumed with doubt and insecurity. Was there something she didn't know? Between Jungkook and that girl? She felt a pang of jealousy, though she tried to dismiss it as irrational. After all, they were just colleagues, right?

She wanted to confront Jungkook, to demand answers, but she knew now wasn't the time. She needed to gather her thoughts, to steel herself for the difficult conversation that lay ahead.

With a heavy heart, Y/N pushed her half-eaten sandwich aside, her appetite completely gone. She watched in silence as Jungkook and his colleagues finally crossed the road, disappearing from her view. But even as they faded into the distance, the image of Jungkook and the mysterious girl remained burned into her mind, fueling her doubts and fears.
