So much exciting stuff @SNFAgoraJHU, but I'm esp. excited for a convo we're hosting next Monday w/@jmjafrx and @henryfarrell for @JohnsHopkins faculty & grad students interested in public scholarship. These are the peeps I would've loved to learn from when I was in grad school! pic.twitter.com/7Zrz0nTRs0

Looking forward to this conversation with Henry Farrell at the Agora Institute:
Lunchtime Talk: Developing Your Public Scholarship
Please join Henry Farrell, Jessica Marie Johnson, and the SNF Agora Institute on Monday, October 28, for an informal lunchtime discussion on public scholarship in the academy. Our panelists will offer a few brief remarks on their own work, and then take questions about the way faculty and graduate students can effectively use op-eds, blogs, digital media, and other public forums to engage with public audiences.
Henry Farrell is a professor of political science and international affairs at George Washington University. He is also an editor and regular contributor to “The Monkey Cage,” an independent site published by The Washington Post that offers publicly focused scholars a forum to participate in the political conversation and build an informed audience.
Jessica Marie Johnson is an assistant professor of history at Johns Hopkins whose research focuses on Atlantic slavery and the Atlantic diaspora. She is also a digital humanist and expert on the politics and ethics of digital and social media, and how platforms disseminate and create narratives, in particular, comparative histories of slavery and people of African descent.
Lunch will be served. The talk will take place on Monday, October 28, noon–1:30, at the SNF Agora offices, located on the third floor of the Wyman Park building. Please RSVP to Catherine Miller ([email protected]) by Wednesday, October 23.
