Ray’s heart was aflutter at Scarlet’s wink. Only a moment ago they were scared shitless, now she was starting to fall for them again. But once her eyes fell away from the red Lurti, the whole world melted away, and there was only one thing on Ray’s mind. 

“Bear!” she pointed at Toasty excitedly, then looked at Lionel with a pleading expression, “Can I pet the bear? I want to pet the bear. I’m going to pet the bear.” She didn’t even give a chance for Lionel to stop her. She was already scrambling along with the rest of the kids to touch the elderly animal.

She slid along the ground on her knees, stopping barely inches in front of the black bear’s face. So fluffy. So old. So lovable. 

She gently reached an arm to the side of their face. Even though the kids were crawling along it without much issue, she still wanted to be careful. She slowly dipped her fingers in Toasty’s thick fur. Then she ran her hand along their cheek, feeling every soft hair follicle pass along her scales.   

She made a soft, barely audible scream as she rubbed her hands along toasty’s face. Barely able to comprehend she was petting a real life bear. an actual honest to god living marshmallow. 

She directed her head in Scarlet’s direction. “I am so disappointing in Lionel right now, he didn’t tell me you have a pet bear!” She stuck her beak back in Toasty’s face, “You’re too precious to not know about!”. She pivoted around on her knees, facing Lionel’s way “You didn’t tell you had a bear, dork!” she shouted over to him.

when i first heard his name i thought they were calling him 연필 instead of 원필 hsjkda and yeonpil = pencil 🥺 so basically i’m just dumb + deaf
