Snejana Hristakieva (Bulgaria). Uneven bars, 1992 Europeans AA. She was the first woman to perform a "Def" in competition on the asymetric bars, so the skill is called "Hristakieva" in Women's gymnastics.
I've read that she died in a car accident in Germany in 1997. She was only 20. :( Can anyone confirm or refute it?
Snejana Hristakieva (Bulgaria).

I think it’s worth noting that Shannon Miller withdrew from vault finals twice - in 1993 and 1995 - so I think she (or Steve Nunno) knew she wasn’t really competitive for a medal (and she had an ankle injury in 1995). I don’t have a problem with her in the 1994 Worlds final since she attempted two 10.0 SV vaults (Hristakieva and Phelps). Shannon was actually the first to attempt the Phelps in international competition, but she did the vault to a sit down in Brisbane, so it didn’t get named for her. She did land the vault successfully at the 1994 Goodwill Games, a year before the vault got named for Phelps.
Yes. I actually think that she managed a lot of those cases really well. I actually have a lot of admiration for the way that Shannon and Nunno managed her career both injury wise and holding their ground when she needed rest.

It’s rather telling that this video was made almost a decade after the other compellation of Defs and only added one person. Who no longer competes it.
