(don't add this part if you choose to order candy! mass headcanon style requires a prompt of some sort!) though, to make it fun, you can keep to the theme of this event—list your favorite movies, celebrity crushes, favorite genres, etc! please specify your pronouns if needed, otherwise it would be written as they/them.
if you want a romantic match up, add "tickets for two!"
your request can look similar to something like this!
hi! i'd like to order tickets for two at the the aiia theater for the 12:00 am showing of [insert any movie here]!
[match up info right here!]
𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬?
as copy and pasted via my carrd, here are the rules!!
i write for almost every genshin character except chiori, emilie, and iansan. characters such as klee, diona, qiqi, nahida, dori, sayu, and sigewinne are strictly platonic.
i write for every tears of themis love interest including side characters such as darius morgan, celestine taylor, harry grant, winnie cooper, william lewis, howard syter, kiki bennett, and vincent kim.
i write for every major haikyuu!! character but due to it’s large cast, you might have to search through this post (i suggest ctrl+f , command+f, or type in the browser and click 'find' and type in the box that pops out the character you’re looking for) to see if i’m able to write for the character you want…
as for requirements, the only one is that you comply with the guidelines above!
again, thank you so much for all of you for the almost past two years!! i hope i can do your support justice by fulfilling all your requests!! let's have a lot of fun here!

you're the reason (i got a weakness) | miya atsumu
wc: 2.9k
summary: it’s not that atsumu doesn't like you dressing up like this—in fact, he loves it. just not when you're fighting. not when he can't even call you "baby".
contains: post-timeskip atsumu, arguments and atsumu feeling really sorry, flashbacks, uses the nickname “baby” & “my love”, reader is described as “pretty” and wears heels, hurt/comfort.
a/n: atsumu isn’t a sucky boyfriend he just gets carried away sometimes. song inspo: can you blame me? - kehlani, lucky daye.
part of the in's and out's new year/birthday event | request prompt: making yourself look good to feel good (your partner has something to say to you)
sponsored by @itskilau and @tasoyoru for the @ficsforgaza initiative. please check it out and support if you can!
“Bab—”
Atsumu lingers by your bathroom door, eyes drooping lower and sadder than they ever have. The steam makes the bleached strands of his hair cling to his forehead, his thick eyebrows now damp and flattened.
You sigh, the big, heavy, and deep kind, shoulders dropping as you clasp the lock of your necklace.
He stares.
That’s his job. You always ask him to do it the moment you step out of the shower.
His lip trembles, eyes watery.
“Not now, Atsumu.”
You walk past him as you adjust the towel around your chest, your arm brushing against his. It’s a small thing, a sensation ingrained so deeply into the past two years you’ve been together, but he feels it like it’s the first time you ever touched him—and in a way, it is. Since yesterday, at least.
The silence that trails after you is so deafeningly still, he thinks he can hear his heart breaking.
“Atsumu,” your voice rings.
Who the hell is “Atsumu”?
He’s not supposed to be “Atsumu” to you. He’s “Tsum.” He’s “baby.” He’s “my love.”
Anything but “Atsumu.”
When you close the door of your walk-in closet to change, the metaphorical volleyball of hope floating right into the palm of his hand misses and drops straight to the floor.
It started with volleyball, as all things with Atsumu do.
You’d met him at the rise of his career, just a few years of him being pro. You were friends first, but if you ask anyone around Atsumu, they’d tell you you were never just a friend to him; he’d invited you to all his games and practice matches, spent a bit more time in the locker rooms before going out for dinner with you and the rest of the team.
Osamu has the receipts of all the extra orders of onigiri Atsumu started adding to his regular weekly subscription since meeting you.
Your first ‘date’ was Atsumu treading the very fine line between teaching you how to play volleyball and teaching himself self-control. Keeping an eye on the ball is hard enough, what more when he has to resist staring at you in very cute volleyball shorts too?
As MSBY’s success skyrocketed, so did Atsumu’s—brand deals left and right, solo work trips during off seasons, commercials; the whole thing. When Atsumu wasn’t training, he was either traveling or attending events and photoshoots. Always on-the-go. Moving.
And he knew you understood, knew you knew him and his tendencies to overwork; knew him, and his habit of getting stuck inside his own world. You’d driven to late practices with bento boxes to share, and you’d packed his gym bag more than a few times, brought in extra clothes without him having to say a word.
You’ve managed his lifestyle better than anyone could.
But, Atsumu has a bad habit of promising more than he should, of serving white lies just as easily as he does volleyballs behind the service line.
“Won’t take long, baby. Swear it,” he holds on to the wall by your door, slipping his feet inside his dress shoes. “Pick ya up at 6:00?”
He’d winked at you then, kissed you between your eyebrows and nose before sneaking one more right at that spot underneath your ear.
What he’d give to be able to do that right now.
“Okay,” you giggle, swatting his chest as you nod, “better hurry then, you might be late.”
When Atsumu remembers that moment, the way you’d agreed so doubtlessly, he hates himself even more. You trusted him, have trusted him so wholeheartedly this entire time, so maybe you’re right—
“Would it hurt for you to just be honest?”
—Atsumu has no excuse standing you up on the date he promised you weeks ago all because he lost track of time in some brand event, listening to a potential collaboration on volleyball shoes. Atsumu has no excuse agreeing to “some drinks” right after just to meet the executives of the company.
There are meetings for those things, ones that can be scheduled and agreed upon. Ones that don’t compromise or add on to the already long list of missed dates with you.
“I know you’re busy and I understand,” you sigh, turning the knob of the kitchen stove as you heat up the kettle, “you know I do.”
He stands before you a quarter past 11:00 p.m., cologne long faded and the smell of alcohol spilled on his sleeve. The kitchen island stands like a net on the court, the ball being sent over to his side.
“Baby, I—”
He passes it back.
You turn from the stove, face fresh and hair tied into a messy low bun as you look at him—how could he have ever stood this–you–up?
You take the ball, “Can I finish what I have to say first?”
He nods. The kettle begins whizzing.
“I’m happy and so, so proud that you have all these opportunities,” you reach for the cupboard above head to grab a mug. The box of tea bags sits to your right, a mix of Lemon Balm and Chamomile that Atsumu swears keeps his anxieties at bay during the night. “But at least tell me if you can’t make it.”
You tear open a tea packet, dangling it inside the mug. The kettle whistles, and he feels the onset of a spike.
“Please don’t keep my hopes up every time.”
You turn back towards the stove, turning the burner off as you pour in the steaming water inside the mug.
“Baby, I swear, they just–they started talkin’ ‘bout these shoes, ‘n I thought t’was cool, ‘n the execs–they said the execs’d be there in the afterparty, and—” he breathes, “won’t happen next time, baby. ‘M so—”
“Can I really believe you next time?”
You approach the kitchen island slowly, holding the piping hot mug carefully as you set it down in front of him.
Atsumu stood you up on your date, and you still made him tea.
You hold his stare for a brief moment before you walk away, sadness and disappointment all-in-one.
It is now that Atsumu knows, he’s fucked up.
The ball lands on his side of the court.
And so, he’s spent this entire day trying to make it up to you—breakfast in the morning, right before training (which he absolutely tanked because all he could think about was how sad you looked the night before); flowers that he brought home after lunch time, just to find the apartment empty. It’s only after a full text thread and three missed calls to your phone that he finally gets a response.
“Nail appointment. Going out tonight,” is your reply (using speech-to-text too, he suspects, with how formal it sounds).
Which is fine and dandy to him; you should do everything that makes you feel better after he practically took you for granted. It’s just—he hasn’t even said sorry yet, can’t even call you “baby”, can’t even touch you even though he really, really, really wants to.
And now, with you closing the door on him while you’re changing—there’s nothing else he can do, really, but to walk away and give you some space.
He shifts his feet, dragging them lightly against the wooden floors of your bedroom.
The moment he hears the door of your walk-in closet slide open, he hurriedly sits down on the edge of your bed, acting as if he wasn’t just anxiously pacing, waiting for you to come out.
He feels like shit, if he’s being honest—like how he does when he misses a serve; if not, worse.
You look good. Make-up done to only emphasize the features he loves (which is your entire face, really), and your outfit perfectly accentuating the dips and curves of your body.
He follows you as you exit the room, tailing after you like a lost puppy. When you stop by your entryway, all he can do is watch as you bend down to put on the straps of your heels. And it sucks, because if you weren’t fighting, Atsumu would be right by your feet, crouched low so that you wouldn’t have to.
It’s pathetic and a little helpless of him to just stand and stare in the middle of your living room. He should say something at least, but, you just look so good, and his throat feels dry; his heart all achy and stomach twisty.
He doesn’t want to be away from you.
And it’s not that he doesn’t like you going out looking like this—he loves it. But as soon as you step out the door with a soft “don’t wait up for me” mumbled from your glossed lips, Atsumu can only taste bitter regret at the fact that he wishes he were coming with you.
He couldn’t even give you a goodbye kiss.
The blond groans, pulling at his hair as he rests his elbows down on the kitchen counter.
“Don’t wait up for me,” you said. As if he can even sleep without you around.
.
.
.
The hours go by but they feel like days. Atsumu’s done every possible thing he can do in this apartment and it still hasn’t breached 11:00 p.m.. He’s cleaned down the kitchen (twice!) and arranged the food inside the fridge like those ‘stock up my fridge with me’ tiktoks he’s seen on Sakusa’s phone. The clothes on his side of the closet have been arranged by color and length, with all the ones in his dresser refolded, Marie Kondo style. He’s also pretty sure he’s scrubbed the bathroom down enough that you can probably see your reflection on the tiles of the damn thing. The laundry baskets for both your clothes are now empty, and he’s changed the bedsheets too and—
He’s still restless. The numbers on the clock taunt him, moving up agonizingly slowly. He can’t stop looking at the time, itching for you to come home.
Atsumu is sorry, so so so incredibly so, because you’re right―he hasn’t been fair to you at all, and he needs you to know that he knows it, too.
His eyes go over the clock again, only a minute having passed since the last time he checked it.
Is this how you felt? Every time you waited for him to come home for a date he promised you?
He squeezes his eyes; it hurts him just thinking about it.
That’s it, he decides, grabbing his phone and wallet as he walks out the door.
.
.
.
Atsumu doesn’t check your location often (maybe only a few times). It’s not a trust thing, he swears; it’s just for when he wants to make sure you’re somewhere safe, or in a place he can reach you should you need him there.
And, you clearly don’t need him right now, but, Atsumu is a little selfish, he admits.
Sitting at home with all his regret feels worse than seeking you out to beg for your forgiveness, whether you want him to or not.
He’s barely dressed for the venue as he steps inside the bar, a pair of sweatpants and a white t-shirt with those fashionable Birkenstock clogs on. A few people seem to recognize him, tilting their heads and murmuring among themselves as he walks through door, but none of them approach him, thankfully, except for a server asking if he needs assistance.
His eyes scan the tables first, searching for any semblance of the outfit he’d seen you leave in earlier. The dim lights make it increasingly difficult for him to look for your properly as he squints his eyes some more, narrowing his vision to the people at the front bar this time. It’s after the fourth person he dismisses that he feels himself getting desperate, nearly turning towards the server beside him to ask for help.
Until he spots you—tucked in the corner of the front bar, sitting on the barstool with your legs crossed as you swirl around your drink.
You look bored, and a little sad, chin resting in your hand as you lean your elbow on the table.
He frowns, thanking the server on the side as he makes his way to you slowly. You barely notice him as you bring out your phone, tapping on the screen as you stare at it almost longingly―a photo of you and him some time ago after one of his games. He knows it well, can still remember that day so clearly: when he became a PR nightmare because he couldn’t help but announce your relationship by kissing you in front of everybody.
It makes his chest hurt.
Then, you swipe it open, and he’s close enough now to be able to catch a glimpse of what’s on your screen: your text thread with him, his last message being, “Did you make it safely?”
(You pout, eyes pricking with tears. You didn’t reply to him then because you weren’t ready to fully talk to him yet, still upset and disappointed.
It was easy to make yourself feel better by dressing up and stepping out of the apartment earlier, the promise of good drinks and good company awaiting your arrival; you couldn’t think about how you felt if you were busying yourself with others. But now that all of those feelings have died down and most of your friends have started chatting up other people they’ve found, it’s beginning to hit you all at once just how much you still prefer Atsumu’s company more than anything else.
Your fingers hover over your text box, typing and deleting. Typing and deleting.)
He’s two stools away from you now, and he can barely contain it―
“Baby,” his voice trembles, unsteady.
Recognition fills you as you turn to the sound, half-confused at whether you’re hearing things; whether―
(“Tsum,” you mutter, eyes catching a pair of familiar warm brown staring back at you. His bottom lip quivers, the embodiment of a dam starting to crack, vibrating.
Your emotions are a mess, your breath on hold as you feel tears welling up in your lashline too. You still feel upset, still a little sad, and a tiny bit disappointed, but what coats them all is a sense of relief because—)
―he’s here, standing in front of you like he just rolled out of the house with barely enough time to get dressed (which, you’re sure is exactly how things went), and you’re sliding off the bar stool in the prettiest outfit, looking like the prettiest thing he’s ever seen.
“‘M so sorry,” he breathes out, stepping closer as he grabs your hand, “Don’t ever wanna make y’feel like that again.” His knee gives way as he starts sinking to the floor, “I won’t do that anymore―”
“Tsum,” you try to call his attention.
He’ll beg for your forgiveness whether you like it or not.
(The interaction is causing nearby tables to look, murmurs and whispers in your periphery as you catch vague sentences here and there. He still is a public figure, after all.)
But Atsumu is unaware, looking at you and you alone as he pleads, “No, please hear me out first. I promise I’ll tell ‘em they can speak ‘ta―”
“Tsum,” you squeeze his hand, whispering more firmly as you try to pull him up.
“Baby, please. Gimme the chance ‘ta show ya that I―”
(You look around and notice even more eyes on the two of you, fond looks on their faces as they prepare their phones for what seems like something momentous. Then it hits you, how this looks―)
“Tsum, please stand up,” you tug at his hand strongly, urging him to stand. His eyebrows furrow as he obliges, only comprehending why when you explain it to him softly, “people were starting to think you were about to propose.”
He pauses for a moment, a slight, “Oh,” as he ponders on it. “Well, if that’s what’ll prove it t’ya, then—”
You roll your eyes, the corners of your lips curling slightly as you hit his shin with your foot and squeeze his hand again, “Don’t joke about things like that.”
Well, it’s not the first time it’s crossed his mind, if he’s being honest.
He sighs, sitting on the stool beside you as he rubs his thumb over your hand again, bringing it close to his lips to kiss softly.
“‘M really sorry, baby,” he mumbles against your skin before moving your hand over his heart. “Don’t ever want ya feelin’ like this again.”
“I know,” you give him a small smile, patting down some of the strands of his hair that stick out, “you didn’t have to come out here though, you know. I was about to go home soon, anyway.”
“Can ya blame me? Seein’ ya off like that?” he grips your hand tighter as his voice softens. “Y’re too pretty to be sad,” he plays with your fingers, intertwining them with his.
You hit his shin again, feeling shy. You always do when Atsumu likes to sweet-talk you.
“Do ya forgive me?” he asks after some time, as you take the last few sips of your drink.
You hum, looking him in the eyes as you nod, pouting, “I don’t like being mad at you, you know.” He lights up, beaming, but you add on, “We still have to talk about it properly, though. Later, when we get back.”
He nods in agreement, holding your hand as you slide off the barstool, guiding you out of the bar and into the car.
.
.
.
(You both do talk about it properly, and the next time Atsumu promises you a date, he blocks it out of all of his calendars, sending the date to his manager even, just to be extra sure.)
a/n: this has been such a long time coming, i'm sorry to those who waited! i hope you enjoyed even though this simmered with me for way too long 😭 i love writing atsumu a little lovesick but i also think he deserves someone who is equally as in deep as he is 🥺
thank you notes: to 🍧 anon for helping me figure out "what would make you mad at atsumu?" and to @ceroseis and @mieiri for always listening to my shenanigans pre-writing!
comments, tags, and reblogs are greatly appreciated ♡

Call me maybe
“did you hear about suna? he likes osamu’s coworker and he’s always in onigiri miya to see her, but i’m not judging or anything!” – @cosmiicdust for my Gossip Event.
word count; 709 – gn!reader
“You know, I really appreciate you comin’ around more often, Suna. It’s nice-”
Bla bla bla, said the voice in Suna’s head while Osamu talked. He was resting his chin on his hand as he leaned on the counter in front of his friend, but his eyes only watched you, bopping your head to the low music on the little radio beside you.
“What’re ya lookin’ at?” Osamu suddenly asked and turned around, sounding slightly more annoyed than his previous bla bla.
Uh oh, Suna thought. Time to make something up.
“This.” Suna pointed to the pen cup beside the registry, which could be considered in the same line of sight as you were to him. “Why do you have an MSBY pen? I need to get you an EJP one.”
Osamu made a face that Suna immediately tried to take a picture of. Unfortunately, he corrected it again before he had the chance. Thankfully, he didn’t have any drinks in his mouth when Osamu spoke his mind. “Be honest, do ya have a crush on me Suna?”
“What?” Suna practically yelled, by his standards, until Osamu shooed him aside for the new customer to order. The volleyball player stood to the side, completely bewildered by his friend’s question until he heard a little giggle. It was you, looking at him over your shoulder with a humorous grin.
Suna squinted playfully, lifting his middle finger to pretend he was scratching his eye and subtly flipping you off. You gasped soundlessly, then lifted the closest kitchen knife as if a threat. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach and he shunned himself mentally while all you saw was a goofy smile. He’s so whipped.
Next time he’s in Onigiri Miya, Suna couldn’t shake off Komori on the way. The two took their usual table that wasn’t nearly close enough to the register for Suna to watch you, and Komori was yapping away so much that he didn’t have the chance to hear you either.
The gods must have heard his prayers, and his god for the day was Osamu Miya. Osamu sent you out into the restaurant to wipe the tables, and Suna nearly got whiplash turning to see you lean over the first table.
Unfortunately, any connection to a possible god left the chat when Suna’s mind started wandering. He couldn’t help it when you leaned over the bigger tables, making sweet little sounds of complaint when you struggled with certain stains. Suna wondered if he could make you louder than that. Actually, he knows he could. And his hands would fit so perfectly on your-
“Suna! What the hell man?” Komori poked Suna with the third pair of chopsticks, which he had accidentally grabbed earlier. His teammate hissed in pain and clutched his chest, looking at Komori in betrayal.
The sound of Suna’s complaints alerted you to their presence, and Suna let out a less-than-manly squeal when you were suddenly right beside him. “Chest pains?” you asked, eyeing where he was now clutching his heart.
Komori had to physically hold back his laughter while Suna looked up at you with a huff. “Are you trying to kill me?”
“I thought you might need something, seeing as you were staring me down earlier.” The teasing glint in your eye only made you look like an angel to him.
Finally recovering at the realisation that you caught him staring, he decided he liked you way too much to back down now. He held up his phone, screen towards you and accidentally showed off his stupid background of some old meme with Washio’s face plastered on it. “No one has better access to Osamu blackmail than you. Let’s be friends, yeah?”
You raised an eyebrow, fairly appreciative of him starting with friends even though you suspected he liked you in the same way you liked him. “I did hear about your crush on the boss. What’s in it for me?”
Suna chuckled, pearly whites sharp like a fox. “My number.”
Your cheeks flushed red, holding a hand out for his phone and entering your number after he unlocked it, and it felt better than a kill block ever could.
This marked the beginning of a wonderful partnership, in every sense of the word.

can i please get a mini bouquet with daffodils and lavender for akaashi?
— 🎐
so wonderfully you
k. akaashi x gn!reader
wc: 1648
cw: hurt/comfort, fake dating + mutual pining, uni!au (loosely), akaashi is a sweetheart
to be fair, you did bring all of this upon yourself.
akaashi didn’t even need to look away from his book to give you his answer: "no."
"c'mon, please!" you groaned, "it's just one evening!"
he looked at you over his frames, giving you the look. "what ever happened to being honest?"
when a friend mentioned a group dinner date idea to your circle of friends after lecture that day, you were a little hesitant to agree. yet when asked if they could set you up with someone, you were a little too quick to lie with, "oh, i have a boyfriend." which led you to this exact moment: asking—no, begging—akaashi to be your “date” this friday night.
"admit i lied to them and look like even more of a loser? let's be realistic here."
akaashi couldn't help but to roll his eyes; he was usually amused with your usual antics, but this? this was… tiptoeing a fine line that, unbeknownst to the other, the both of you were secretly wanting to cross yet nervous to do so. but when he saw the pleading look in your eyes and flush to your cheeks, he knew he was in a losing battle, whether he liked it or not. all he could do was let out a sigh.
“what time do i need to pick you up friday?”
after fiddling with all the clothes in your closet, you opted for something casual—just a sweater and some slacks. it was just a dinner with some friends. but oh god, what if akaashi is wearing something nice? what if he’s wearing something that totally makes you look bad? what if you two look so uncoordinated that it gives away your secret? as your mind wandered to the idea of your dear friend in a dark, dapper suit, totally showing you up and ruining the plan, a knock interrupted your thoughts.
taking a deep breath, you checked the time—5:40. five minutes early. in everything he did, akaashi was always so punctual. always there before you to class, saving a seat beside him for you to sit. always arrived for a study session before you, ready to go over any notes you missed if you couldn’t make it to lecture that day. and this time served no difference.
“coming!” you yelled, in hopes he would hear, as you slipped on some shoes and grabbed your bag.
opening the door resulted in your temporary blindness, your eyes unable to handle the beauty before you.
standing in the doorway was akaashi, wearing a gray button up and slacks. his sleeves were rolled up neatly to his elbows, displaying his absolutely sinful forearms, with some veins adorning them right beneath the skin. his hair was a little more tame than his usual tired, messier look—god, he was so beautiful, and it was so incredibly frustrating how badly you wanted him in this moment.
it was all for pretend. it was all for pretend.
all. for. pretend.
he met your eyes and held out an arm—already perfectly playing the part of your sweet, loving boyfriend. "ready?"
"yeah, i've got directions to walk—"
"i'll drive us. i've got my keys."
after locking up, the two of you walked to his car, which was parked right outside your building. "you look nice," akaashi commented, attempting to sound as neutral as possible (it didn't work).
"yeah yeah, you clean up pretty nice too, i guess," you quipped back, eliciting one of his infamous side eyes. he opened his car door for you, then slipped in on the driver side. thankfully, it wasn't too far of a drive to the restaurant you all planned to meet at—you didn’t know what you’d do if you had to remain in a car for an extended time with your friend-turned-secretly-fake boyfriend.
"okay.” you took in a deep breath, trying to explain through your master plan. “so, we need to act like we're in love, got it? my friends already are hesitant about this since i never mentioned a relationship to them before. the plan’s that we've only been dating a couple months." watching akaashi's little nods in agreement as he drove, you went into a little more detail about your friends and their interests so he knew exactly what he was getting into.
upon your arrival, akaashi immediately went into character and excelled—opening your car door and the restaurant door for you, pulling out your chair, draping his arm loosely over the back of your seat. he inched closer to you as the dinner progressed, so close you could smell the spearmint of his cologne and—
was that a hint of jasmine too?
oh, you were about to die.
“so,” one of your friends began with a polite smile, successfully interrupting your thoughts, “how’d you two meet and get together? i feel like i know nothing about you, akaashi.”
and that was where you realized you hadn’t come up with a "meeting" story.
hoping your face didn’t give away the ploy so soon, you opened your mouth to speak out some half-ass lie, until—
“we actually had a class together a couple semesters ago,” akaashi began with a gentle smile. his cheeks were tinted a soft pink shade—but that could’ve easily been caused by the spring afternoon heat… right?
“they just have this personality that drew me in. can’t even explain it,” he laughed, the sweetest sound escaping his lips. you noticed the slightest crinkles by his eyes as he continued, “with all the late night studying, the deep conversations, and going through the good and bad days of college together, how could i not fall in love with them?”
as your friends ooh-ed and ahh-ed over you two, your face burned. you knew this was all a part of the plan—oh, the plan.
the plan!
he must not mean any of this, at least, not in the way he expressed to your friends. he didn't mean anything with his arm around you, looking at you like you hung the moon and the stars.
you couldn’t breathe.
fuck, why did it all feel so real?
the rest of the group date passed agonizingly slow, your mind too preoccupied with akaashi’s hand on your thigh—far enough down to not make you uncomfortable. his thumb caressing your knee absentmindedly as everyone talked amongst each other.
"you okay?" he mouthed to you, and you nodded—of course, did akaashi believe this? no.
so, he did the typical "tired" stretch and asked for the bill. he pulled out his card and paid for the meal (after only some arguing from you) and wished everyone goodbye.
"it was to meet you all," he said with a smile and guided you out of the restaurant with his hand hovering over the small of your back.
you were in shambles, your heart nearly fluttering out of your chest.
getting into the car, you were quiet. too quiet—akaashi didn’t like that.
“seems like it was a success,” he prompted, hoping a conversation would stem from this. it did not. you just hummed in agreement and smiled, albeit awkwardly.
he drove you back to your apartment and walked you back to your apartment. “i had fun tonight,” he tried again with another one of those rare, genuine smiles that had you weak in the knees, “your friends are nice.”
“thank you,” you said softly, suddenly wishing you could forget about all of this, “i know this was my dumb mistake and dragged you in it, but, uh… thanks.”
you felt so dumb. feeling giddy over him holding the door and being respectful in his touches? it was all your plan, all your fault. you brought this upon yourself.
the night breeze blew between you both, the early spring chill in the air making you shiver slightly, which akaashi noticed. “let me give you my jacket from my car—“
“no!” you interrupted, looking up at him with an unknown mixture of emotions in your eyes. were you angry? no. tired? no. you were confused, so very confused. “no. we’re not faking this anymore. i don’t need your jacket.”
his eyes widened, his brows furrowing at the sudden attitude. “… did i do something?” he asked, racking his brain to remember if he did something, anything, wrong tonight to warrant your coldness.
“no—i mean, yes, but—god, why are you so nice to me?!” your voice was growing louder with every word, “i bombarded you with all of this, along with all the shit you’ve already got going on—fuck, you made it all feel so real and i hate that!”
several beats of deafening silence pass through you both, the two of you just frozen, staring at each other.
“it’s always been real for me,” akaashi softly admitted, “nothing i said was a lie tonight.”
you met his eyes, those beautiful, brown irises that you imagined getting lost in quite often. his lips were so close, and he was inching closer and closer that you could smell his spearmint and jasmine cologne again. you thought your legs would surely give out at any moment.
“can i kiss you?” he softly asked, looking at you through a half lidded gaze. everything froze, your mind reeling over the question that was just asked—akaashi, your akaashi, asking if he could kiss you. all you could do was nod silently before his lips perfectly slotted against yours, like he was made to kiss you.
you were drowning in him, being smothered by your new favorite scent of that damn spearmint and jasmine. he was so gentle with you, cradling your face in his hands as he tasted the sweet cake you ate earlier on your tongue.
oh, akaashi couldn't get enough of you.
slowly pulling away, all you thought to ask was, “why me?”
“because you’re you,” he whispered, his lips brushing yours as he spoke, “god, you're so wonderfully you.”

₊˚⊹。 mornings don't feel the same without you | iwaizumi hajime
wc: 3.0k
summary: hajime thinks that it's been a long time coming for him to wake up with this realization.
contains: implied f!reader, lingerie, use of slut (teasingly/jokingly, not to reader), lots of suggestive stuff (touching, implied sex), so much love!!, hajime is also a wee bit sentimental here, established relationship
a/n: not a lot of plot, just a lot of love! haven’t written hajime in a while, but he’s on my mind all the time. these are the songs that inspired me: lights down low, never had you, it’s you, and forever right now.
part of how to be your lover boy (a valentine's collab by augustinewrites & seiwas) + the in's and out's new year/birthday event | request prompt: making yourself look good to feel good (your partner has something to say to you)
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
Hajime thinks he’s built a pretty solid life for himself—good health, good job, good relationships; all on equal footing, in no particular order. The routine he’s built is deliberate and filled with purpose, a system diligently followed to keep himself running.
He firmly believes that if you want to live the life you want, you have to start with yourself. A simple choice, the first step.
And Hajime’s chosen the mornings, an old conscious effort to wake up at 6:00 on the dot now transformed into a natural rise to the softness of daylight.
You call him a creature of habit, one that leaves no day to rest, even on Valentine’s Day.
Sunlight trickles between his curtains, ripples of translucent white highlighting the tip of your nose. He sees you through a sleep haze, olive eyes blinking awake like the leaves on your bedside, ready to tickle your cheek and wave when you turn the other way.
It suits you, he thinks, to be touched by light when you don’t know it.
You’re warm under the palm of his hand, bare flesh a soft place to rest between him and your hip bone. If he focuses hard enough, he can feel the faint thump of your heartbeat, almost in tandem with the small puffs of air hitting his chin.
He sighs, the corners of his mouth curling in contentment.
A good life.
Evidence of last night is strewn across the room—the red tulips on your bedside and his slacks hanging off the bed. The shirt he’d worn lies atop the dress he slipped off you, half of your black two-piece set caught in it.
The memory replays vividly—bites to his neck down to his collarbone, a pull of his hair and his lower lip caught between yours. You handle Hajime roughly because you know he can take it, know that it gets him going the more you want him.
But with you, he takes his time—runs his fingers over every area he’s grown fond of (which is everywhere, really). He strips you down slowly, unwrapping you like a gift labeled: handle with care, open gently.
Then, he savors it—you.
The wrapper lies next to his head, half-tucked underneath his pillow, a piece of elegant black lace you know drives him crazy.
A perk of celebrating Valentine’s Day two ways is that one half belongs to him and the other to you—a team effort to make the day as special as it can be.
He shifts, hand sliding up to rest on your waist. The movement causes you to stir, digging your cheek deeper into your pillow as you scrunch your brows—a sign of you coming to wake.
Hajime immediately shuts his eyes, feigning sleep. Last night was all his—flowers, a nice dinner, and the dessert that came after it. This morning is yours, with only one instruction for him: sleep in.
How upset would you be if he ruined your surprise?
The bed dips on your side, no doubt you reaching for the bedside to check the time. Even with his eyes shut, he has your mornings memorized. A whispered ‘shit’ almost makes him break into a smile, but he reigns it in, expression neutral and breathing steady.
You move again, his hand still on your waist as you turn once more, to what he can only assume is to face him. There’s a momentary pause that makes him worry you’ve found him out, but he feels your fingertips run over the crease between his brows, smoothening it out the way you always do.
(He has a terrible habit of frowning in his sleep, he’s learned.)
It makes him nervous the longer you linger, the tips of your fingers sliding down the bridge of his nose to rest on his lips, running over it once, twice. Then you sigh, inching closer before gently nudging his nose with yours.
The small peck you land on his lips almost makes him break, but he holds it in, letting you sneak away (albeit badly) for whatever it is you’re planning for today.
(The bed dips too deeply, comforter rustling as you untangle yourself from it. You stub your toe on the edge of your bedside table and attempt to muffle an ‘ouch’, even though he can hear you—pretty clearly actually. He has to bite his lip to stop himself from chuckling.)
If it were up to him, Hajime would just keep you here, no sneaking around or stubbed toes, no surprise or anything—just you, wrapped in his arms, under his sheets.
.
Just as he’d promised though, he did sleep in (if an extra 20 minutes of forcing his eyes shut counts as that).
The flowers on your bedside are gone, and so is his shirt—the sheets beside him crinkled in the shape of your haste to get up from it. He yawns, running a hand through his hair to fix up the mess you made of it last night.
As part of his routine, Hajime stretches, first with his neck—side-to-side, up-and-down—then with his back, twisting left and right. Next, he changes, puts on a pair of gray sweatpants that you claim must be a staple in his wardrobe (you say he looks like he could fuck you up, its hem hanging dangerously low to reveal the grooves of that deep v-line leading to his pelvis).
After pushing aside the curtains for sunlight to stream through, he cleans the room, picking up the mess of clothes on the floor and making the bed; you usually do this, because you’re particular with the pillow placements, but he’ll take over for now.
This should buy you enough time, right? An extra 10 minutes for your planned surprise.
He takes a breath, doing one last scan of the room before stepping out.
As soon as he gets into the hallway, he smells chocolate.
Each step he takes is consciously softened as he carries his weight, carefully making his way to the sight of you, back towards him in nothing but his t-shirt hanging temptingly high to barely conceal black lace. You seem focused, entirely preoccupied with the kitchen stove.
A familiar feeling settles into his stomach, warm and soothing, one he’s been having more and more around you lately. The corner of his lips curl up.
For Hajime, the best way to start the day is with the morning light and you.
He sneaks up behind your back, peeking over your shoulder at the chocolate pancakes you seem to be slowly ladling into the pan. And just when you’ve formed a figure he can only assume is a heart, he takes a step closer, hands resting on your hips as he scrunches up the fabric between his fingers.
“Morning,” he whispers, chin resting on your shoulder as his lips brush the side of your neck, soft and ticklish; you shiver, just a little bit.
The greeting comes out rough, husky, and you lean into him, your hand coming to rest over his, hiking up your (his) shirt to reveal a slight peek at the black lace hugging the curves of your buttcheek.
“Morning.” you chuckle when you hear his breath hitch. The pancake in front of you gets flipped to the other side.
“How’s your head?” he moves to peck your temple. Hajime knows you get the worst hangovers no matter how little you have to drink, and last night was by no means little.
You groan, turning off the stove, letting the residual heat cook the pancake through.
“Terr–”
As you turn to him within his arms, you pause, blinking uncontrollably at the presence of Hajime’s bare skin in front of you. Your eyes go wide, zeroing in on the full chest beneath your palms, the cuts of his shoulders, and his arms. Oh—
“Slut.” your brows furrow, lips pouting as you stifle a smile.
Hajime laughs, olive eyes crinkling as he holds you closer, hands coming to clasp at your lower back.
“Put on a shirt, you know I can’t focus like this.”
He knows, because you say this almost every morning, every time.
“I would,” remnants of his amusement linger on his lips, hand reaching to squeeze your butt as he narrows his gaze mischievously, “but someone stole it.”
You giggle, arms coming up to wind around his neck, fingers playing with the shorter strands of his hair. Then, you tiptoe, white fuzzy slippers slotting itself between his matching green ones as you tilt your head up for a kiss.
As it is, Hajime’s liking how this surprise is going.
He leans in, eyes falling shut as he presses against you. His hand cradles your jaw, callused skin tickling you ever so slightly as he guides your head to turn the other way. Hajime can hardly stop whenever you get him started like this, your lower lip already caught between his teeth.
But you nip it, right as his other hand crawls underneath your shirt, pulling away as he tries to chase for more. The frown on his face is hard to miss.
“Gonna get dressed,” you smile amusedly, feigning innocence.
“Isn’t this already too dressed?” he raises an eyebrow, tugging at your (his) shirt. His fingers trail lower, hooking themselves into the lace of your underwear.
“Don’t be a flirt,” you scrunch your nose, “I feel gross.”
He squeezes your hip, “I’m gross too.”
You give him a look.
He gives you one back.
If Hajime had the words, he’d tell you you’re the furthest thing from gross, making him breakfast in his clothes and that pretty black number you know drives him up-the-wall crazy.
This is the stuff of his dreams.
But then you give him those eyes, and you know just as well he’s weak to that too. So he sighs, loosening his grip so you can slip away.
“I’ll make you eggs!” he calls out as you disappear into the bedroom.
Your breakfast spread for him is set up on the counter, the chocolate heart pancake on the pan the last needed addition to complete everything. It’s sweet, how you prepared a full-on chocolate feast for him: hot chocolate with chocolate heart pancakes, and butter also in the shape of a heart. The tulips he’d gotten you rest prettily inside the vase he remembers from your first anniversary pottery date.
He feels especially sentimental today taking everything in, noticing how the mug that holds your half-finished coffee matches the one that holds his hot chocolate.
In the little over two years that you’ve been together, you’ve assimilated yourself into his space so naturally that it feels like you’ve always just been here—that it feels right how all your chips fill up the entire bottom shelf of his pantry because you love snacking on them whenever, wherever.
He cracks in two eggs.
The throw on his couch matches the pillows all because of you, and bottles of your daily vitamins sit perfectly beside all his supplements in the spice-rack turned morning-essentials-rack (one of your so-called organization hacks).
The pan sizzles, edges of the eggs turning crisp—just how you like it (lately, it’s how he’s been liking it too).
When you step out of the bedroom, Hajime’s begun plating your food, pouring in another batch of coffee and preparing a bowl of fruits.
(Today, it’s strawberries—one of your favorites. He made sure to stock up on that for today.)
Hajime thinks he’s built a pretty solid life for himself—
He prides himself on his routine and the stability of his day-to-day: the mornings, with you raiding his closet and stealing his clothes; the late afternoons, when he picks you up from work and you crash his place because it’s begun to feel so much more like home.
The evenings cap the day off perfectly, with you tucked under his chin and your leg slung over his hip. It’s too warm, but you get cold easily and he doesn’t mind the warmth when you’re pressed up skin-to-skin.
And when he sees you in his sweatshirt—the one paired with the sweatpants he’s wearing right now, he smirks knowingly, setting down the utensils with a dopey smile on his face.
This is good.
—his life that you now also fit into.
“Sorry you had to prep the rest,” you pad towards the counter, taking a seat on the stool as he waves it off and sits beside you, “thank you.”
Without even a word, there’s a painkiller sitting on the palm of his hand, open and waiting for you already.
You stare at him, puppy-dog eyes and everything, pouting as your fingertips graze his, “I love you.”
He laughs, rolling his eyes jokingly as he hands you a glass of water, his cheeks already dusted peach.
Shyness still hits him when you’re so vocal like this, but Hajime has known he’s loved you since that day at some outdoor concert you dragged him into. The forecast was gloomy but you’d insisted it was an experience he shouldn’t miss, so he agreed—packed an umbrella and wore a jacket with a hood even, just in case.
But there you were, in the middle of the downpour, dancing under the rain, and when you’d beckoned him closer, you had that same look on your face.
“Love you too,” he whispers against your forehead, pressing his lips against it, “happy Valentine’s Day, babe.”
Breakfasts with the two of you are usually rushed, but work for him today isn’t until noon and you have an entire day off to pack for a two-week business trip you’re set to leave for tomorrow.
So, this is nice. You both have time.
You’re talking about all sorts of things—some work gossip, that nice old lady who lives a few units down from him; there’s the whole itinerary for your business trip too—meeting here, meeting there. An extra hour to kill to maybe sightsee. Evenings are usually free, and so on.
But as he’s chewing on half of the chocolate heart pancake, he just can’t, for the life of him, stop thinking.
The more he hears about your schedule for the upcoming weeks, the more he’s realizing that this is the longest time you’ll be apart.
And he wonders, what’s that gonna be like?
Most of your clothes will be gone from his dresser, his bathroom counter half-empty without all your skincare. No overheating at night without your arm wrapped firmly around his spine. Just one mug during breakfast, not two, and only a single pair of green fuzzy slippers pacing around the rooms.
It’ll be a little like how it was before you.
And he hates how that’s even a possibility.
He takes a sip from his mug.
“So, Oikawa’s taking me out on a date. Is that okay with you?” you lean against your palm, elbow supported on the counter.
He nods, humming as he sets down the hot chocolate.
“Hajime.” you hide your smile.
He snaps out of it, “Hm?”
“So you’re okay with me going on a date with Oikawa?”
His knee-jerk scowl is much more like it.
“That fucker asked you out?”
You laugh, shaking your head while taking his hand to interlace your fingers with his, “Just seeing if you were listening.”
A pause, then a squeeze.
“Wanna tell me what you’re thinking?”
He tilts his head slightly; one look at you and you draw it all out of him. There’s something about this—breakfasts in his kitchen, with you wearing his clothes and the morning light streaming in. You share a joke or two (or five), a few teasing touches here and there, the mood relaxed and just overwhelmingly nice.
Hajime is so authentically himself when he’s with you that he doesn’t want anyone else knowing the parts of him that you do—
Everyone would be surprised to find that his typically uptight self is surprisingly funny when he’s let loose; he’s made you laugh a good number of times to prove it, too.
The boys would never let him live it down if they saw him peach-faced at the tiniest bit of your affection; and they’ll tease him for eternity if they find out that the reason he taps out so early during ‘boys’ nights’ is because he still gets so excited to cuddle in bed with you.
This is the kind of day-to-day he wants, and he knows you’re the key to all of it.
—so, Hajime chooses you, much like he’s chosen the mornings.
“Move in with me,” he tells you simply, two fields of olive green sincerity.
The words flow out of him with an intensity uninhibited, something you don’t get from him very often. Your expression shifts, breath on hold and—
“When you get back.” he follows up quickly, giving you space to consider it first, “What do you think?”
All logic is telling him he should be nervous, that this is the defining moment of another goal he’s been working his ass off to reach, but somehow, with his hand in yours, this feels easy. Comfortable in all the good ways because loving you has always been just that.
“Sex last night was that good, huh?”
And this—there’s never been a problem with this too.
He snorts, cheeks turning a deep peach.
“Just realizing that mornings don’t feel the same without you,” he admits, pulling you closer. You hop off the stool and inch closer, standing between his legs as he rests his hands on your lower back.
“Flirt.” you scrunch your nose, squeezing his waist.
You say that, but he sees how your smile reaches your eyes; how it glosses over when you catch his gaze.
“Okay, muscle boy,” your hands settle on his shoulders, fingers splayed out over every dip and curve, “better do all the moving then. Want all my stuff here by the time I get back.”
.
And he does—
When you get back, he’s contacted his landlord to get you on the lease. Your clothes are all in his (or now your?) apartment, some still in boxes but the essentials already organized in the closet now split to house both of your things.
There’re pieces of you everywhere now, not just touches like a person half-there. A lot of the big furniture is still at your place, but that’s really just because he wants to leave that part up to you.
—after all, it’s your home now too.
thank you notes: @augustinewrites for loving hajime as much as i do 🥹 lights down low used to be a normal soft song for me before, now it belongs to him bc of u + @soumies @mysugu bc this is kinda really so self-shippy and every time i think of seiwa i think of you both 🥺 + @ktsumu for requesting this! i know it only slightly follows the prompt but i hope you enjoy my spin on it anyway 🥺

a place to call home — k. shinsuke
one bed + childhood rivals/friends to lovers
synopsis. "be kind, shinsuke." that's what yumie always told her grandson. and he would live by those words—even if it meant sleeping on the floor every weekend.
wc. ~2k
— for @mastering-procrastinating & an anon bff! 🫶 | event masterlist ✉️

The day after Kita Shinsuke turns six years old, the vacant house across the street suddenly springs to life with occupants.
His life spirals from being humble and quiet to chaotic in 24 hours. Suddenly, he's responsible for taking care of the bratty kid next door even though they're his age. His bedtime gets thrown out the window because he needs to chase them down to get them to brush their teeth, and his dinner always has some suspiciously missing elements that he never finds.
You become the centerpiece of his entire existence—a floating memory in every crevice of his mind.
Kita hears your laughter in the songs of his childhood; feels your hands roughly pushing him and dragging him around by the wrist; smells the minty toothpaste he forcefully shoved into your mouth after finally catching up to you.
It seems as though you and him were born to be polar opposites. Where he climbs you stumble. Where he sits quietly at the dinner table, you have a never-ending stream of anecdotes to tell Granny (even though half of them are greatly exaggerated—he was literally there to witness it). Where he behaves like a normal child, you can't even sit still during storytime in class.
However, your differences do little to remove you from his life. Where he goes, you go.
It's a consequence of growing up thirty meters from your front door and having you over when your parents suddenly uproot to go on week-long business trips.
And he wouldn't care so much, really, if it weren't for the fact that Granny had equal amounts of love to go around. That, and he would have to sleep on the floor whenever you came around.
For someone so disciplined and grounded, Kita Shinsuke was an envious child. He hated having you in his home, because it meant that his beloved Granny had to split her attention between the two of you. Because she would always tuck you in before him. Because you were louder, more needy, more everything. Because he often woke up with back pains at the ripe age of six years old.
When Kita turns eight, he finally bubbles over.
You're on the swings behind one of your friends, standing on the back of the seat and clinging to the chains. You're being careless, and he would be remiss if you were to hurt yourself.
"Get down from there," he scolds, standing in front of the swing set to stop you from continuing.
"Make me!" You exclaim back, childishly sticking out your tongue and rocking the swing back and forth, gesturing to your friend to keep going.
"Stop."
He comes up behind you and tugs at your shirt, making you wobble.
"Quit it, Shin!"
"You'll hurt yourself!"
He convinces himself that he only cares so much because Granny would have to spend more time with you to patch you up if you fell, and not because he would hate to see your snotty, crying face.
No, it doesn't make his heart squeeze. Not even a little.
Eventually, you end up face first in the wood chips anyway, with Kita hovering over you looking guilty as ever. He hadn't meant to pull you off so roughly, nor had he meant for you to land on the ground like that.
Oh. Why does it hurt him so much?
That night, you don't sleep in his room.
You end up tucked into Granny's bed instead, down the hall. He misses your presence—he even ends up on the floor though the bed is empty for him to take.
He blinks up at the space where you should be and feels bitterness swelling in his throat.
"Shin." His Granny calls softly when she eventually comes into his room. She doesn't sound the least bit angry, but he still aches with nothing but guilt.
"M'sorry." He knows the apology should be for you, but you couldn’t even look him in the eye over dinner.
His Granny only sighs, kneeling down beside his futon with a tired huff. A reminder of her age. He only feels worse.
"Be kind, Shinsuke."
"I'm tryin'," he argues weakly.
She's silent for a pause before she carefully tucks the silver hair from his eyes.
"You'd be lonely too if I were gone all the time, eh?"
"..."
Kita pulls the covers closer to his chin. Yes, he was aware there was a reason you were always here. There was a reason your house was devoid of life despite being filled with furniture. There was a reason you wanted Granny to love you so much, cementing in the gaps where your parents were always absent.
Did you ever want him to love you like that, too?
The next night, he sits you down on the edge of the tub with no complaints. And he's surprised that you accept the toothbrush into your mouth so easily, no resistance and no qualms like you usually have.
He sees the tired defeat in your eyes, feels the awkward tension in the bathroom, and guides your hand to the end of the brush so you can do it yourself.
"I'm sorry," he tells you without elaborating. You never need him to. (When you reminisce about this day, you sometimes laugh to yourself. You always did love how straightforward he was.)
His words are followed by a tense hug, his hands holding your head against his tummy. The brush stops moving in your mouth as you hug him back.
It dawns on him then: he's just as much of a kid as you are—feeling something as petty as jealousy when all you needed was a hug.
One day, he swears, he'll make it up to you. And he'll be nicer, too. It's the least he can do if he's all the company you have until your parents return.
Be kind, Shinsuke. That's what Yumie always told her grandson. And he would live by those words—even if it meant sleeping on the floor every weekend.

The day after Kita Shinsuke turns twenty-two years old, your apartment floods.
Of course he's the first one there, helping you move what you could salvage from the apartment into suitcases and onto the back of his truck. Of course he's the one to offer a place to stay, because if not him, then who else? And of course he's the one who holds you when you're stressing about what to do and where to go, hand firmly on your back as he lets you snot on his shirt like you've done since you were six.
For a brief moment, it feels as though he's just a little kid again with you making a mess of the home he grew up in.
Well, mess is a stretch—you've infinitely matured since starting food wars with him over dinner, but the point stands when he ends up helping you with an assignment. It had been pushed to the backburner with everything going on, whilst you were moving essentially everything you owned into his house as if you paid rent there.
He should have known that some things never change.
"I can't believe you kicked me out onto the floor."
Kita shuffles in the comfort of his duvet, resting atop his mattress. He stares at you with honey brown eyes swimming in conflict from the bed.
You curl tighter into a ball on the futon. And he knows this ploy—knows that you're trying to guilt trip him into swapping places with you. You've always been manipulative when it came to him, and god-forbid he be anything but an angel to you. (Because his Granny told him to, not for any other reason at all.)
"M'not the one who made a bet they couldn't win."
Words straight and cutting as ever, like a blade through your heart. You pout childishly, rolling over so that your back is turned to him.
It was your idea to challenge him when he said you were on your phone too much while working. It was your idea to be a brat and defiantly say that you could finish your assignment by midnight. It was your idea to bet this all on the most beloved yet war-inducing place in the entire house: Kita's bed.
It's hardly his fault that you got distracted with YouTube.
"I hate you, Shin."
"No y’don't."
"I do."
"No. You don't."
"Okay fine, I don't, but can we please swap now? It's freezin’ down here."
He can practically hear the pout still engraved into your face right now. And it takes every ounce of fight in him not to give into you with the snap of a finger. To argue back and list a million reasons why he should be allowed in his own bed.
Yet here he is, slipping out of the sheets almost instantly and crouching down beside the futon. He shakes your shoulder.
"Fine. Get goin' before I change my mind."
Any resolve left in his body melts away when you shoot upright with a bright smile, victorious as ever.
Sometimes you made it hard for him to imagine why he cared about you at all. You were too sly for your own good. How could he ever deny such a smile? It's not fair.
You scurry into his bed instantly, making yourself comfortable where you have hundreds of times before. "You should make sure I'm comfy. I am a guest in your house, y’know?"
Yes, Kita knows this all too well. You're trying to provoke him, to see how far you can push him until he breaks. Stubborn and obedient, he reaches down to slowly pull the blanket over your body.
There's a pause from you as he drapes you in warmth, blinking up at him dumbly as if you weren’t expecting him to do so without complaint.
"I'm..." You seem to choke on your own words, silently contemplating whether or not you should push further. "My face is still cold."
His hands hold your face instantly, warming your cheeks skin-to-skin. You stare at him with wide eyes, looking so surprised that he wonders if what he's doing is a mistake. But then your hands gently cover his, and you tug him closer until his knee is sinking down on the mattress beside you.
"M'super cold."
"It's twenty-two degrees in here," he informs you flatly.
You make a face, nose slightly scrunched in thought and brows pinched. It's such a troubled expression that he can't help but scoot a little closer.
He's being kind, that's all. He's just making sure you're okay as a friend. No, not even a friend—an obligatory companion. The lifelong thorn in his side. The reason why his back still aches some days.
Be kind, Shinsuke.
When did being kind turn into this? Into moving involuntarily, into having a second nature response to you? Into a stubborn body only movable by one soul, one voice, one pair of hands?
"Keep me warm, Shin."
He gives in to your whims without reason, without logic or hesitation. You are the sole person able to break down any semblance of routine that's been methodically coded into his muscles.
He doesn't get you, perhaps he never would. He would never completely understand your wishes, or how your cheeks were so cold yet burning hot at the same time, or why he was submitting to you so easily.
The only thing he knows is that you are still somehow the centerpiece of his life, dancing in the middle of it all like a black hole sucking in everything else; the whirlpool swirling in the center of calm waters; the supernova of his galaxy.
"...'Kay."
Maybe he doesn't need a reason to care about you. Maybe your very existence is reason enough. And he’s okay with that for once in his life. He had never been the type to go with the flow, but your hands are dragging up his neck and pulling his body onto the mattress.
That night, you both fall asleep in the bed.

🔭mars
part of my observatory event, requested by @dearru <3
iwaizumi hajime x f!reader
summary: you have the biggest crush on your neighbour—turns out he goes to the same gym as you.
content warnings: time skip setting, fluff, iwaizumi hajime is too beautiful for this world
words count: 1.3k

“I swear I’ve never seen something so magnificent,” you say in a fierce whisper.
Your best friend groans on the other end of the call. “Are you talking about that guy again?”
“That’s ridiculous.”
“What is ridiculous?” she asks, already exasperated, hoping you’ll finally change the subject.
“His awesomeness. This morning, he was on his balcony, hanging out the sheets and still he looked so cool and-”
“Oh god, I’m hanging up now.”
She should be used to it by now. For weeks, your not-so-subtle (and maybe slightly overdramatic) crush on your new neighbour has been the only thing on your mind—and on your lips. But you’re not the one to blame. The man is a pleasure to your eyes—in an unfair kind of way.
You first noticed him when he moved in two months ago.
His arms were stacked with cardboard boxes, his short hair was tousled from the summer heat and a few strands were clinging to his forehead. You were heading to the lift when he walked past, barely glancing up as he unlocked the apartment right next to yours. His brows were knitted in a frown, but the moment he noticed you, a quiet smile tugged at his lips. And you swore you’d never seen such beauty before.
You mumbled something like “good morning”, although you don’t even know if it reached his ears since you hastily turned your gaze away and stepped into the lift.
Then, you started noticing him everywhere.
In the hallway, where he nodded politely but never said much. At the mailboxes, where he always grabbed his letters with an effortless coolness. On his balcony, where he stretched after runs, wearing nothing but a tank top and shorts that should probably be illegal.
His balcony isn’t directly aligned with yours—it’s angled just enough that, from your couch, you can see straight into his living room. So really, it’s not your fault if you watch him sometimes. And yes, on the rare nights when you let curiosity get the best of you, you find yourself peeking through your window, catching glimpses of him under the soft glow of his apartment light. Tapping on his laptop. Making coffee. Just being there.
Not that you’re spying. That would be creepy. You’re just—observing.
The gym is the one place where you can let go. Since work has been demanding, you figured exercising might help you find some balance. Physically, maybe—but mentally? Not a chance. Because ever since you laid eyes on him, your mind has been an absolute mess.
Which is how you find yourself, mid-run on the treadmill, calling your best friend for the fourth time this week just to talk about your hot neighbour.
“Wait! Please, don’t leave me alone in this crisis,” you whine into your earphones.
Your best friend sighs. “Crisis? You’re staring at a hot guy and refusing to do anything about it. That’s not a crisis, that’s just cowardness.”
The thought alone makes your heart racing faster in your rib cage. “I am not refusing. I just- I don’t know where to start.”
“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe by asking his name?”
“No, no, no. I could never.”
“Come on, you’ve been eating, sleeping, and breathing this guy for weeks, and you don’t even know his name. I told you—coward.”
You step off the treadmill and catch your breath. Your voice hovers somewhere between a whisper and a complaint as you wipe your forehead with a towel. “Excuse me, but I am not—”
“Hey,” a deep voice interrupts.
Your heart stops.
Your best friend is still talking in your ear, but you don’t hear a word. Slowly, so slowly, you turn your head—
And he’s there.
Right in front of you.
All lean muscle, sun-kissed skin, and olive-green eyes that are even more stunning up close.
Since when does he come to your gym?
“I, uh-hi,” you stammer, yanking out an earbud.
He nods toward the treadmill. “Are you still using this?”
"Yes-I mean no. I-I…"
The corner of his lips turns upwards. “Yes or no?”
Everything in your head seems to come out scrambled, in the wrong order. "No! I mean-I'm done! It’s all yours!"
“Is it your neighbour?” Your best friend, still very much on the call, says. She doesn’t wait for your answer to add, "Ask his name."
"Shut up!" you blurt out and you feel heat scorching your face when you realise what you said out loud. You wave your hands in panic and rush to explain, “Oh my god, not you. Sorry”
Your neighbour looks somewhere between amused and mildly concerned. "Uh… right. Thanks." He still remains polite, almost too kind even though you just made a fool of yourself.
And just like that, he steps onto the treadmill, setting up his workout while you remain frozen in pure, undiluted mortification.
You spin on your heel and flee.
And for the next week, you avoid the gym like the plague and close your curtains.

It’s late Friday evening when the universe decides to ruin you again.
You step into the apartment complex’s lift, pressing the button for your floor. Just as the doors begin to close, a hand shoots out, stopping them.
You don’t even have time to react before he steps in.
The hot neighbour, whose name still remains a mystery.
He barely spares you a glance as he enters—until his eyes flick toward you, lingering just long enough for a smirk to tug at the corner of his mouth.
"You quit the gym?" he asks after a moment of silence.
You nearly choke. "What? No! I’ve just been… busy. With work. I work a lot… these days."
His smirk deepens. "Right. Then that’s even more reason to go back. It's good not only for physical health, but also for mental health.”
You clear your throat, grasping for composure. “You talk like a true professional.”
His eyes widen, you’re not sure why but he suddenly seems uncomfortable. He scratches the back of his neck and his eyes fall to the ground. “Sorry, that sounded like I’m mansplaining or something.”
“Not at all.” You smile a little. “But I guess I don’t have much of a choice now, do I?”
He immediately lifts his eyes and there's relief on his face, the frown that had formed a few seconds earlier, go away. You can see him tilting his head slightly, considering you.
"I’m going tomorrow morning. You coming?"
You swallow. "I-yeah. Sure."
"Cool," he says easily. Then, after a beat, "Wanna grab a coffee after?"
Your heart stumbles.
"Like… together?"
He huffs a quiet laugh. "Yeah. I mean, no pressure, you can totally say no."
You open your mouth, then close it again. A week ago, you were a coward who wished to never bump into him again. And now—now—he’s standing in a lift, casually inviting you for coffee like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
"I-yeah. That’d be nice."
The lift dings. He steps aside, letting you go first. It only takes a few steps to reach your door, but somehow, it feels incredibly long. You finally turn to wish him a good night, but his voice cuts through the quiet first.
“Oh, and I’m Iwaizumi, by the way. Nice to meet you.”
You take a second to breathe in his words, his name.
You say yours in return—and you swear you see his cheeks redden just a little.
"Then, see you tomorrow, neighbour." He exclaims, throwing you one last glance over his shoulder.
And just like that, he disappears into his apartment.
While you stand there, staring after him, pulse thudding in your ears.
You finally know the name of your hot neighbour.
And he just asked you on a date.
You call your best friend that night to tell her everything. “What should I wear? More like casual? Or classy?” You ask her at some point.
Though she’s away, you can sense the smile on her face. “Gosh, I really should get paid for this.”

hiii for your 1000 event could you do brother's bestfriend, HQ, fluff (i honestly don't know😭), canon pre-timeskip!atsumu?🥰
i’ll try my best to keep them in character 🫶

brother’s best friend is the one for me
pre-timeskip!atsumu x osamu’s bff gn!reader. fluff
pre-timeskip!atsumu hates that he’s developed feelings for his brother’s best friend. they’ve had to share so much growing up, namely volleyball, and he knows that if he asks you pick between them, you’ll obviously choose samu
pre-timeskip!atsumu practically starts levitating when he’s greeted by the sound of your laugh the second he gets home from practice
“hey, sumu,” you greet, smiling largely at something his brother said, as you offer pre-timeskip!atsumu a dumpling. “samu and i just made these. what do you think?”
obviously they’re amazing, but pre-timeskip!atsumu would lie without hesitation if they weren’t. “spectacular; i’ll take twenty.”
best friend!osamu makes sure to warn pre-timeskip!atsumu when he catches his eyes following you everywhere. “don’t even think about it. i’m not sharing.”
pre-timeskip!atsumu clutches his chest. “i would never! you think so little of me, brother.”
pre-timeskip!atsumu knocks on your door with flowers he picked by the side of the road, small chunks of dirt still clinging to the roots as he holds them out for you. “thanks for feeding me!”
pre-timeskip!atsumu’s heart rate triples when he catches the faint blush on your cheeks as you accept the flowers (they’re weeds, but he doesn’t have to know that)
pre-timeskip!atsumu confidently asks you to attend their game wearing his number, since you’ve been wearing his brother’s to every game prior
pre-timeskip!atsumu melts inside when you put a finger to your lips and hum. “i’ll think about it.”
and when it’s finally time for the match, pre-timeskip!atsumu ignores everyone else in the stands to smile at you. you smile back, his number on your jersey
“i’m killing you when we get home,” best friend!osamu says with a sweet smile, patting his brother’s back when pre-timeskip!atsumu pales

Um um.....Miya atsumu Long way 2 go -- Casie
And and trope- enemies to lovers??
Also I love your writing👾👾

now playing: long way 2 go by casie
atsumu? this song? enemies to lovers? i think you just sent me to heaven. i don't think you understand how hard i'm geeking right now. i keep whisper screaming "YOU'RE A GENIUS". and thank you!
content. rich boy!miya atsumu x fem!reader, atsumu’s lowkey a downbad loser, tension (at least i hope it is) | wc. 905

atsumu thinks he's hot shit. you know of plenty of guys his type. how could you not? your school is full of them. they think their good looks and endless pockets let them get away with anything. there’s so many of them, but out of all of them, the one you despise the most is atsumu.
you’ve never met someone with an ego so inflated that it rivaled the size of earth. there’s no one who makes you want to tear out your own nerves out more than him.
atsumu is well-aware that you loathe him. he hates you just as much, but instead of ignoring you like a normal person does, he discovers new ways to tick you off. he's like a bacteria who's always finding a way to invade your system.
and now you’re stuck with this damn vermin in a tight, janitorial closet, and it’s his fault.
“be honest. are you an imbecile? like were you dropped as a baby? how do you miss the sign that said, ‘lock broken. leave door open if inside.’?” you fume in the dark.
“do ya ever shut yer mouth?” you don’t need to see atsumu to visualize the harsh glare he has. you can hear his hands fumbling around, searching for any kind of light switch.
you scoff. “oh that’s loaded coming for you. thanks to you, we’re missing class right now!”
at that moment, you hear a click, and a warm light fills the room. you never realized how close atsumu actually was. his body is nearly pressed against yours, his arm hanging above from when he pulled the cord of the light bulb down.
atsumu’s eyes are just as wide as yours, and he backs up, even if it’s only a mere step before his back crashes into a shelf of cleaning supplies that clatter upon contact.
you wince. “do i repulse you that much?”
atsumu doesn’t give you the grace of responding, narrowing his eyes at you as straightens his back, rolling back his shoulders in the limited space he has. when he loosens the tie of his school uniform, you stare at the hand tugging it down, veins prominent on his skin.
the action was… hot… to say the least. your hand twitches like it wants to slap you for ever thinking that.
“you don’t.”
“what?”
atsumu looks annoyed at the fact that he has to repeat himself but he does anyway. “you don’t… repulse me.”
“not true. you actively try to make my life hell every single day. no sane person does that unless they absolutely despise someone.” you correct, chuckling without humor.
“i…” the sentence crumbles in his throat. you see a blush creep up on his neck. the rosy pink reaches the tips of his ears. he turns his head away as if he were ashamed.
you laugh. now this is a sight, miya atsumu actually being embarrassed. you want to push this, see how far you can go.
“what is it, miya?” you tease, taking a step closer to invade his space. “cat got your tongue?”
atsumu backs up even further into the shelves. you’re sure it’s digging into his back. he gulps at the sight of you.
“do i make you nervous?” you trail your finger on his tie. atsumu follows the motion until it leads his back up to your eyes.
he burns a brighter red. “like hell i do.”
it hits you then.
oh.
oh.
“you hate me.” you breathe out in a whisper. “and you like me.”
atsumu tenses like you just caught him in an act, like you just announced it to the entire freaking world. you wrap your hand around his loose tie. once. twice.
“you’re so pathetic.”
it’s the last thing you utter before you’re tugging him by his tie, pressing your lips to his. atsumu’s reaction is immediate, resting his hands on your hips, bunching up the skirt of your uniform.
he wants more. you can sense it by the way his hands are slipping down to your thighs, and because of it, you pull away. atsumu chases after your lips, but you slightly pull your head back. you see the annoyance in his eyes.
you pull him again by his tie again, this time bringing his ear by your mouth. “don’t get it twisted, miya. you still piss me off, but i’m a firm believer of thinking that things can change. you want me? work for it. earn it. ‘cause the way you are now you’re still a long way from having me.”
the door to the closet swings open suddenly, flooding the room with a light brighter than the one shining over your heads.
“damn kids,” the janitor grumbles. “what the hell are you doing in here? you’re here at best school in the country and don’t know how to read, even skipping class. unbelievable.”
you smile, unraveling your hand from atsumu’s tie. “sorry for the inconvenience, sir. my friend here will pay you for the trouble we caused. consider it a token of appreciation for keeping our prestigious school so clean and beautiful, if you know what i mean.”
the janitor is practically bubbling with joy the moment he comprehends the meaning behind your words. atsumu glares at you like you’re unbelievable. you only wink, waving goodbye and blowing a kiss as you saunter down the hall, the fire of atsumu’s lips still lingering on yours.

High school sweethearts
“Did you hear about aone? I heard that he started dating that one popular girl! But you didn't hear that from me!!” – @sharkissm for my Gossip Event.
word count; 686 – f!reader
Aone did an uncharacteristic double take the first time it happened, the first time you came to one of his games and cheered for him after a successful block. You were of another world to him, so perfect in the way you were not only beautiful but also so kind and charismatic. People wanted to be around you, unlike Aone who always sat alone on the train.
So he also couldn’t believe it when you sat down beside him on the train one day, smiling so kindly and asking him if the seat was free. He nodded silently, gulping and fumbling with his fingers as you sat down. Your knee knocked into his and he almost felt like blushing. You’re just so cool.
“I watched your game the other day, it was awesome!” you gushed, flipping out your phone and showing him a video you had taken of him blocking the last point, then the camera turned to your face as you screamed in cheers for your school’s team. If he heard correctly, you even yelled his name in particular. “I would be so scared to break my fingers or something if I blocked like that.” As you said this, you held a hand out, showing off your perfect gel nails.
Aone admired them, making a sound of approval at the cool design in the school’s colours. “They are very pretty, breaking them or your fingers would be a shame.” It was said as a clear statement, and his deep voice made your eyes widen.
“Thank you,” you said softly at the compliment, eyes glittering. Surely, his eyes were betraying him because it looked like you were blushing too. “My nail artist is great…” And then you spent the rest of the train ride telling him about anything that came to mind, about your nails and your schoolwork and him.
A few days later, Futakuchi let out the biggest huh when you came to the gym doors and asked for Aone. “Class project?” he asked, somewhat protective of the big friendly giant.
“No,” you answered simply, raising a perfectly plucked eyebrow at him as a playful challenge. “So? Can I talk to him?”
“We have to practise, princess-“ Futakuchi started, holding up his finger, only to be interrupted by a shadow behind him.
“I can take a short break.”
The captain turned around slowly to see his best friend, scrunching his nose trying to think of something to say before slumping his shoulders in defeat and stomping off. “Five minutes.”
You looked at Aone, the sparkle back in your eyes that he still couldn’t believe had anything to do with him. “Sorry. What did you need?”
Licking your lips and tucking some hair behind your ear, you asked him if he was free after practice, earning you a quick yes from Aone and a distant complaint from Koganegawa about team-building activities.
That evening you spent talking over your instant ramen cups in the closest konbibi became your first date.
And a first date eventually turned into dating.
Aone’s cheering squad was the loudest for every game, and you lavishly spoiled him with attention and care that made him feel like he was soft, not just big and scary.
In return, he gave you comfort and always listened. Whether it was seemingly meaningless yapping or serious conversations about life’s many trials, he was always there for you.
A power couple, one must admit.
Even Futakuchi admitted it after you got the principal to make all the arrangements for when they got to nationals in their third year, also making sure every student who could go, came to cheer for the Iron Wall.
And as Aone looked up at you in the stands, you cheered just as loudly as you did the first time he caught your eye, and you looked just as gorgeous to him no matter what happened. Even at night, all makeup off and bawling your eyes out over a sappy movie with toilet paper stuck in your nose to stop it from running.
Always his beautiful girlfriend, who just happened to be very popular.
masterlist

⋆⭒˚.⋆𝜗𝜚 Order up! Brown sugar milk tea, 100% sugar, 100% ice with black pearls for @moochiwoochi!
Morning Coffee Sakusa Kiyoomi (fluff, crack, mutual pining, post high school)
Every morning for the past few weeks, at nearly the exact same time, the entry bell to the cafe you worked at would ding. In would walk a tall curly headed man, ordering the same thing each time. Once in a while, you'd offer him a baked treat, and he'd accept. Not many words would be exchanged between the two of you, but as time went on, you couldn't shake the curiosity that began to bubble up inside you.
As time passed, you'd begin to anticipate his arrival as one of the first people entering the store at the beginning of your shift. You'd began to apply just a little more lipgloss before leaving the house, touching up your makeup here and there even though you'd never paid it much mind before.
You'd never seen his entire face due to the covering he seemed to always be wearing. Though, as he left the store, drink in hand, you sometimes saw him pull it down a little to take a sip as he pushed the door open with his foot.
Tying your apron in the backroom of the kitchen, you decided that today would be the day that you finally speak to him. But how? And what would you say to someone you'd never had a conversation with before? A couple thoughts rushed through your head as you took one last glance in the mirror, the sound of the entry bell ringing in the background. You hurriedly rushed back to the front of the cafe, standing at the register where you saw him glancing over at the pastries in the display case.
You decided to start with a simple greeting - maybe something funny too?
"Going for something else today?" You smiled.
Surprise momentarily engulfed you as he shot you an unamused side-eye before turning his attention back to the case of sweets.
'So this is how it's going to be.' You thought to yourself before revising your expression, plastering another smile onto your face.
After he was done with his intense inspection of the pastries, he placed his order which was unusually large this time, consisting of a few drinks and sweets. Who on earth would be drinking 3 coffees and an iced chocolate this early? You didn't think he would eat 2 chocolate croissants and 3 strawberry danishes on his own either. As he swiped his card across the machine to pay, you took this as another opportunity to at least try to strike up a conversation.
"Meeting up with someone?" You asked, bagging his items.
"Kind of." He replied, slotting his card into his wallet and slipping it into his jacket pocket.
Holding the bag out to him, he grabbed it from the bottom, holding the handles once you let go. The bell rang once more as he left, and you resumed your work. You shifted around the store, cleaning up coffee cups and wiping down tables when you noticed something laying atop the counter in front of the register. Someone had left their phone there - though it didn't look like it belonged to any of the older ladies who were enjoying a breakfast at the front of the cafe. You still asked just in case, and they confirmed your thoughts.
Setting the phone aside, you wondered if it might be for the man who was at the counter not too long ago. Either way, you'll probably see him again tomorrow if he forgets to retrieve it today - there was plenty of time.
During your break, you took the phone to the 'lost items' box in the back room, sliding onto one of the chairs and enjoying your lunch. After only a few bites into your sandwich, a faint vibrating sound could be heard from the direction of the box you had placed the phone in. Following the noise, you discovered the screen of the phone was lit up; somebody was ringing.
Deciding to click the answer button, you placed the phone on speaker. Maybe you could tell whoever was it was that the owner had lost his phone.
"Didn't I tell you to change my contact name?"
"How come? Whats wrong with Oomi? See, I even put a mask emoji as well..”
You heard bursts of laughter in the background as whoever was on the other side sounded like they were fighting - albeit pretty calmly. Though it didn't seem to be a very long lasting squabble, as it was soon noticed that you’d answered.
"Hello?" You spoke up first. The line fell silent, save for a few subtle voices.
"Giving girls your phone, omi-omi?" Someone sneered in the background.
"Give me that."
"Hey!"
It seemed that he took the phone from the callers hand, opting to speak directly into it instead.
"You have my phone." He bluntly spoke.
"Yeah, you left it at the cafe earlier today."
A pang of silence ran through the speaker as he seemed to have realised who you were.
"Right.." His voice trailed off, softening ever so slightly. “What time does your shift end?"
"5’ o clock." You replied.
"I'll be there before then. Just keep it on the side if you can." His voice was somewhat hushed - maybe he didn’t want the others to hear? Even though he'd only said a few words to you, he seemed somewhat easier to talk to than he had this morning.
Throughout the rest of the day, you wondered if the boys in the background of the call were the ones he had bought the sweets and drinks for. A study session? Maybe they were hanging out together. You began to realise how little you knew about him considering you'd never shared a full conversation before. Thoughts swept your mind as you began to wonder how old he was, if he was in college and what he’d be studying - heck, you didn’t even know his name. And calling him what those guys had said on the other side of the phone didn’t exactly sound like something he’d be too happy about.
You found yourself glancing at the clock every few minutes, wondering how long until another 10 minutes would pass. You’ve never worked so fast before - nor had you been so eager to clock off. You had so many questions to ask him, wondering if he’d even answer any; you let them accumulate inside your already crowded headspace.
At exactly 5:00, you rushed into the employee room to freshen up a little, washing your face and applying some perfume. You made sure not to forget the reason why he was meeting you in the first place, sliding his phone into your pocket. Taking one last glance in the mirror before hoisting your handbag over your shoulder, you left the store, standing at the front where he mentioned he’d be waiting.
Stepping outside the store, you noticed a car stopped on the side of the road, its headlights still gleaming. The drivers seat window began to lower, a familiar pair of eyes meeting yours.
“Hey!” You waved walking towards the car. He stepped out, closing the door behind him.
“Here’s your phone.” He slipped it back into his pocket, thanking you.
This wasn’t exactly how you’d imagined it playing out. The plethora of questions you’d accumulated over time suddenly disappeared with him standing right in front of you.
Without a counter separating the two of you, things felt different. For one, you didn’t realise how tall he was, nor did you notice the slight frizz in his curls that seemed somewhat styled earlier in the day. The way the light of the afternoon sun lightly glossed over his skin - you simply couldn’t look away.
He cleared his throat. “Are you heading home now?”
“Yeah,” You replied, adjusting the strap of your handbag. “I just need to wait for the bus.”
He turned towards the door of his car, opening it. “Won’t it be late by the time you get home?”
“Kind of, but I’m used to it by now.” You shrugged.
“That doesn’t sound very safe if you ask me,” He said, slipping into the drivers seat and closing the door. “I’ll take you home.”
“No, don’t worry, I’ll be safe!” Embarrassed, you waved your hands in front of you in an attempt to clear the air.
Though he didn’t exactly look like the negotiable type, as he simply stared back at you with an expression that read ‘Just get in.’
Hesitantly, you walked to the other side of the car and stepped inside, placing your handbag on your lap and pulling the seatbelt over yourself. His car seemed like it had just been driven out of a dealership - it looked completely brand new. There was also a faint smell of sandalwood and vanilla - a very pleasant smell, and it was well ventiated. Below your feet was a duffel bag which was pushed as far into the leg space as it could go - as if he was expecting someone to sit in the passenger seat.
“Well? Are you going to tell me where to drop you off?”
“Oh, right! Let me just pull it up on the maps..” Embarrassed, you dipped your head to search on your phone, almost sure you heard a small laugh from the drivers seat.
As you directed him through the streets, you shared a simple conversation, finding out that he wasn’t currently a college student, but instead a professional volleyball player; and the people on the phone from earlier? Those happened to be some of his team-mates.
“I had no idea,” You chuckled. “I don’t really watch any sports. But I’d watch you play!”
“That’d be nice.” He replied, turning the wheel into the street before yours. “Oh, i’m just down there to the right,” You pointed out. “You can just drop me off here if you like.” He turned on the indicator to take the next street. “I’m already here, might as well get you home.”
Pulling into the street, he stopped in front of the apartment complex you signalled was yours.
"You really didn't have to do all this.." One hand held a grip on your bag, the other on the passenger door. You wondered if you'd ever get the opportunity to speak to him other than just a greeting in the mornings - more than the conversation the two of you shared on this short trip to your home.
"Didn’t you find my phone?" He replied, shifting the car into 'park' and turning to face you. "Someone could've stolen it."
"You'd be able to easily afford another one though."
"Yeah - well, thats," He sighed, a small smile tugging at the edge of his lips. "Thats not the point,"
"Does your shift end at the same time everyday?"
You nodded. "Yeah, why?"
He held his phone, tapping a few things before handing it to you. "I can take you home in that case. But I'd need to let you know when I'd be waiting outside, no?"
You paused, looking at the empty contact screen he handed you; was he expecting you to fill it in?
Taking the phone from his hand, you saved your name and typed in your number, handing it back to him.
"You've never called me by my name, you know?"
"I don't usually need to call a cafe worker by their name."
"Is that an excuse?" You teased. "Because from when I stepped foot into your car, you've never called my name - not even once."
"Um, not necessarily..?" His voice trailed off.
"It's on my name-tag. You know, the one thing hanging off my apron at work."
"I didn't see it, alright?" He sighed, exasperated. "But you don't seem to know mine either." He shot back.
"Come to think of it, I may have already known it from before." Your thoughts trailed back to the phone call from earlier.
"Really? What is it then?"
You had to control yourself from bursting out into laughter as a chuckle escaped you alongisde your words. "Is it.. Omi? Omi-omi?"
"He’s so going to regret that."
