Presenting @mahdiwoodard : I had a conversation with my homie @forevalivin about a year ago that changed my consciousness. I told him that I never smiled in pictures and he asked me at what age did I lose my smile...hell, I remember not smiling on my kindergarten graduation picture....Unconsciously, I had bought into the narrative that black men don't smile- let alone cry and express their range of emotions (still learning this shit). Since that conversation, I've made more of a conscious effort to wear my smile even on days where I don't want to. Hope this perspective lightens somebody's day and major shoutouts to the @blackmensmile movement.
