The same thing that causes you STRESS can be the same thing that allows you to LET GO… Seeing life in black & white… The more we see things as black and white, right and wrong, the more judgmental and opinionated we are. We all know (well, as we get older we tend to find out more 😆) that A LOT of life happens in the grey zone. But at the same time, seeing things in black and white has saved me. It has allowed me to let go of things causing me pain. Namely, in relationships that are no longer working. I remember a relationship I needed to let go of but was having a hard time. When I was justifying and making excuses for the person (even if they were true), I was living in the grey. And in the grey was uncertainty, hope, and a bit of losing myself… The only thing that allowed me to let go of this relationship was seeing it in black and white. Ie: he wants to be with you, or he does not. There is no in between that works for me. And seeing it as black or white allowed me to see no grey… grey wasn’t an option. If it was white and I wanted black, there was NO MORE CONFUSION. It actually made sense! Which made the excuses in the grey completely irrelevant. This is another benefit of understanding how you see your world. You become incredibly aware of how your viewpoint is helping you, or hindering you, and you are able to adjust it accordingly. I’m not usually a “black or white” thinker, yet here we are with another paradox of life… I mean, would this Ellie 🐘 Sunset 🌅 be the same if it were in black and white? ➡️ I don’t think so… #blackandwhite #thepowerofperspective #perception #mindset #mentalwellness #strongmindset #mindsetshift #relationshipcoach #howtoletgo #lettinggo #blackorwhite #rightorwrong #livingingrey #internationallifecoach #needtoletgo #situationship #situationships #walkaway #howtowalkaway #lifeinblackandwhite #judgements #howtojudgeless #breakupcoach #breakingup #breakuprecovery https://www.instagram.com/p/ClRhnAVvA6s/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Currently listening to How to Walk Away and I am mesmerized. This is my first Katherine Center book and now I am like why did I take so long to read any of her books. I am so engrossed in this book that I didn't even realize that I am already 80% done and will complete it by tonight. The author has dealt with such a fragile subject so beautifully. This is a great book about moving on, inner strength, not giving up and having positive thoughts 📚 A detailed review is coming soon. Have you read this beautiful book? Book Review: How to Walk Away by Katherine Center 😍💚💚
So a few months ago I received an early copy of an AMAZING book through a great program called #SheSpeaks: #HowtoWalkAway by Katherine Center. At first I was like, "Eh, sounds alright. I'll speed read it later before the deadline for a review.
Tumblr media
I kid you not, once I started it, I didnt stop until I had completely finished it. Started it at 5 PM, finished it at 2 am. It was that good.
Not gonna lie though. I had to restart it because the first time I just could not get into it (mind you I was only like 20 pages in and all it was saying was how afraid of flying the chick was). Once I got past that part I actually enjoyed this book.it is one of my all time favorites and is definitely going on my inspirational book shelf! (Yes I have one of those.haha only books I keep are inspirational stories like this one.)
At first it was a slow read but well worth it because you got to know the main person very well and completely understand her thought process through it all. Everyone is relatable as well, from her perfectionist, stubborn mother all the way to her jerk of a (sort of) fiance. Everyone has people and relationships like that at some point in their lives.
Once the physical therapist guy comes in you're all in. No way out!haha Then when you think you know what he'll do or what's next in their relationship, something different happens. I like the predictable romance as much as any other girl but this did it with little spurts of unpredictability and that's what I love. The ending you want just not the way you thought, because that's realistic and how it happens.
Overall, I LOVE this book, and let my mom take a read because she's a book person also. She had a hard time putting it down too!haha And she usually only reads on electronic devices like her phone or iPad, so finishing an actual book was a feat! She loved it just as much as I did!
Definitely recommend it yall! It came out May 15!

How to Walk Away Katherine Center A poignant and inspiring story of resilience and recovery. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SUMMARY Margaret Jacobson has a picture perfect life just around the corner. She has just graduated from college with an MBA, has obtained a dream job, and has a fabulous boyfriend she adores. A night that promises to be the best night of her life, quickly turns into her worst nightmare, with nothing more than a gust of wind. In the hospital she is forced to face the possibility she may never walk again. Margaret must figure out how to move forward on her own terms after facing devastating heartbreak, the loss of her job, and even crushing family secrets. What will she do now? What can she do now? Will she ever find love again? “When you don’t know what to do for yourself, do something for somebody else.” REVIEW HOW TO WALK AWAY is a book about life lessons. Lessons that Maragret has to learn the hard way. Her boyfriend, Chip, overcome with guilt, won’t visit her in the hospital. She must work with Ian, a stern physical therapist that gives her very little motivational support or assistance. Her older sister, Kitty, returns after a three year absence to comfort Maragret and to expose a long held family secret that may tear their parent apart. Margaret’s perseverance is a fabulous takeaway from the book. But it is the small scenes in the book that make you really want to cheer for her: the bonfire at the family cottage, helping with the children’s arts and craft fair, and the April 1st Valentine party. All these events lead us to my favorite character in the book, Kitty. She has short spiky hair, small hoop earrings going up the sides of both ears, and a nose ring, and she adds tremendous color and spark to this story. When no one else knows what to do, Kitty does! She styles Maggie’s hair, makes her laugh and plans a party or two. Her persistence and ability to make things happen is adorable. KATHERINE CENTER’s writing is absorbing, and easy to read. The story is a touching and inspiring chronicle of loss, forgiveness, and moving on with life. The pacing of the story is perfect. The characters are real and authentic; some you like, some you don’t, just as it is with life. The writing, story and characters merge beautifully to create a memorable book. CENTER graduated from Vassar College and the University of Houston’s creative writing program. She lives in Houston with her husband and two children. She is the author of five other novels about love and family. Publisher St Martin’s Press Published May 15, 2018 Reviewer www.bluestockingreviews.com “It’s strange that I could have laughed so hard under those circumstances, during that very dark moment in my life. But I’ve decided sorrow can make things funnier. Endure enough hardship, and you start really needing a good laugh.“

How To Walk Away
Tumblr media
This book touched home with me.  My own mother was in a horrific car crash when I was 9 and it was a long process for her to get “back to normal”.  This book made me laugh and cry.  It has everything I look for in a book.  I literally could not put it down.
