What Is The Clarity Of A Diamond?
Diamonds come from deep within the earth under extreme heat and pressure. Most of the time, they contain birthmarks that are unique for each diamond. The birthmarks are internal (inclusions) or external (blemishes). Therefore, there are no two diamonds with the same birthmarks, diamond clarity refers to the absence of these inclusions, and diamonds without any inclusions are very rare. 4 factors determine how a lab will assign a clarity grade, the size of the inclusion, the amount of the inclusion, the position of the inclusion, and the visibility of the inclusion.
There are two kinds of inclusions: Internal and External.
External inclusions include a natural, a scratch, a surface graining, and a chip.
Internal inclusions include A crystal, a cloud, a pinpoint, a group of pinpoints, a crack, and a feather.

A significant factor in the value of the diamond is in its amount of inclusions. For this reason, buying a diamond with fewer inclusions can be very expensive for the customer.
A great way of purchasing an eye-clean diamond for a better price is to look for a clarity-enhanced diamond. A clarity-enhanced diamond uses a process that enhances its natural clarity by one or two grades. This process can be done in two ways: The first one is laser drilling, and it will leave marks, and the process is not reversible.
The other one is more “clean” and known as filling. Furthermore, this filling process is reversible. It means you can always bring back the diamond to its original clarity as it was before the enhancement.
The filling process is a special treatment that not all diamonds can afford. On average, only one out of 500 diamonds can be enhanced with the filling process as it can only enhance “feather” inclusions (see diagram, for example). The most significant advantage for the consumer in buying a clarity-enhanced diamond is that you can get a VS-2 clarity diamond for almost the same price as an SI-2 clarity diamond before the enhancement.

How To Clean A Diamond Ring In 3 Easy Steps?
Your diamond ring goes everywhere with you and can accumulate a lot of dirt and strange particles, which can make your ring look old and dull. More importantly, it can accumulate bacteria, which can cause skin irritations. Cleaning your diamond ring is a must. Here we explain to you in 3 easy steps how you can clean your ring at home.
Do not use harsh cleaning chemicals when cleaning your rings, such as bleach, acetone, or chlorine. Harsh chemicals can cause damage and make your ring look dull. Keep in mind that if you use chemicals to clean your home, it is important that you remove your diamond ring.
Do not forget to take it off if you are going to be doing any hand-heavy activity as this too can cause damage, not only to the diamond but also to the band.
Step 1: Take a close look
Tumblr media
Have a good look at your ring. Is it dirty from just everyday use such as makeup or was the dirt caused by paint or chemicals? For tougher grime, it might be a good idea to have it cleaned by a professional jeweler.
Step 2: Soak your ring
Tumblr media
The very first thing to do is soak your ring. This is a step that should not be overlooked. Soaking helps to remove grease build-up and facilitates the cleaning process we are about to mention in step 3. You can make your own cleaning solution at home. Use warm or hot water and dish soap. We recommend mild or organic dish soap. Soak the ring in the solution for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3: Grab a toothbrush

After soaking the ring in your homemade solution, take a toothbrush, the softer the better. Using the toothbrush, gently scrub away any dirt or grease that was not removed in step 2. Scrub the ring and diamond with caution, as to not cause any damage. You do not want to leave bristle marks on the band and although diamonds are sturdy objects, they can easily chip or even fall out if not handled properly.
Toothbrush tips
Choose a toothbrush with soft, gentle bristles. Please do not use a brush with rubber bristles. Ensure that this toothbrush is only used for cleaning jewelry. This guarantees that no chemical or toothpaste residues come into contact with your diamond ring.
Ultrasonic cleaner
You may have heard of this device. For those who have not, an ultrasonic cleaner is a device that is used to clean items, such as jewelry. Using ultrasound waves and chemicals, this jewelry cleaning machine can remove foreign particles such as dirt, oil, and tarnish, as well as polishing compounds such as Tripoli and rouge from delicate jewelry pieces.

We recommend using the 3 step method mentioned above. This method helps prevent any damage that may be caused by cleaning methods such as the cleaning process used by an ultrasonic cleaner.
Cleaning your diamond ring is not such a daunting task, as you may have thought. Not to mention, you can save quite a lot of money cleaning jewelry at home. With this simple method, you can easily clean jewelry at home and save it in the process.
