if somebody you knew for a year said "listen. im just gonna be honest here. i know ive known you too long to not know your name. but i simply do not. i dont know how this happened. im reasonably confident you told me your name at some point. could you remind me please" how would you react

#i. am. terrible. at this #i've discovered that the likeliest way to get me to remember a name is to see it in writing repeatedly #and then associate it with a face/voice repeatedly #however what works when taking roll with students or checking imdb credits #does not work with normal social rituals #but hey fun fact you can get through 99% of social interactions without needing the other person's name #most of the 1% is introductions
