enjoy these out-of-context punks and rockmans and kaitamoms that i bashed out in one day today, prolly i will return to castle ao3 and poast the context tomorrow night after work.
also bonus kaitamom design scribble under the cut!
me writing asuna ten years ago: “this is a Sensible and Protective Mom, to act as a ~deconstruction~ of haruka’s Quirky and Free-Range Mom. she has gardening as a character trait because that sounds like a thing moms do.”
me writing asuna now, with this character design: “actually asuna was and is a Rad Mom, she’s just overprotective of kaita because she doesn’t want him doing anything crazy, such as catching wind of what she and turboman used to do on the rally circuit and getting murked following in her footsteps. (she is not nearly as good at watching the bullshit as she is at being in the center of the bullshit.) she chose to retire and have a kid on her own terms, once she was good and ready, and now channels her competitive energy into winning gardening society awards. Moms Rock.”
and that’s what we call Growth of the Author.

Sacrilege (part one; Selkie!Tovar x GN Reader)
Selkie!Tovar is finally here!
Word count: 1566
Warnings: None? probably some historical inaccuracies but idk tbh, personal Selkie Lore, the title will make sense later, I promise.
A/N: Meant to take place shortly after the events of The Great Wall. Part two is scheduled to come out Feb 3, but if y’all like this part, I may release the next one early. Talk to me if you liked it (I would love any excuse to talk about Selkie!Tovar tbh)!
Pero grips his coat closer to his chest. The bustling of the crowd around him is almost overwhelming. Markets like this, he supposes, are the closest thing humans get to the crowded beaches his mother used to bring him to. It seems rather silly to him: why gather together if not to enjoy the peace and comfort of being safely surrounded by your own kind?
Very few things humans do make sense to Pero. This market, for instance. Why buy fish when you live right by the ocean? He can’t find much of a difference between the fishermen and the rest of the population. Is there something he’s not seeing that makes most people unable to hunt? Pero pities the poor land-creatures who had never felt the thrill of chasing down a meal for themselves.
Pero rubs at his eyes with his free hand in a half-hearted attempt to quell the ever-present exhaustion that had made its home in his head over the course of his journey. He can’t wait for nightfall when he can return home.
His family had been right. Humans are greedy, self-centred warmongers. It’s a wonder they haven’t brought their own extinction upon themselves yet.
It was a silly decision to join the world of the land for so long. Pero knew the evils of man. It was childish of him to think the ones who made their homes on dry ground would be any different from those who journeyed to the open sea.
No, humans make no sense to Pero. But then again, he’s not sure he wants to understand them anymore. Why would so many surrender their lives to steal an armload of a mysterious black powder?
Was it sheer curiosity, much like the wonder that had brought Pero on the very same journey? Pero scoffs at himself. No. Humans may take without much concern for the consequences, but they do not take for such frivolous emotions as curiosity. No, the reason has to be far more sinister.
After all, he’s seen what the black powder can do. He’d been told it could change the world. He’d been told he’d be a hero if he brought back even a tiny bit of it. He doesn’t understand. It seems as though the powder only takes lives. How could he be a hero if he spread the use of such a destructive substance?
Pero’s thoughts are drowned out by voices shouting around him. Angry words echo over the crowd and people begin to push and shove with the intention of moving others, instead of to create a path for themselves.
The few mothers Pero can spot begin gathering their children and seeking escape from the changing energy of the crowd.
Pero lifts his gaze in hopes of spotting the origin of the sudden outburst of the people around him. All he can see in every direction is fighting. People push and shove and hit and pull at each other without much care as to who they may be hurting. Or, perhaps their motivation is to hurt as many as they can. After what he’d seen these past months, Pero figured the latter was more likely.
The crowd grows more and more intense, much like the surface of the ocean on those angry nights where the sky and the sea disagree. If Pero knows anything of conflict like this, it’s that unless you wish to fight the waves, it’s best to avoid it altogether.
He begins to weave his way between people, pushing through when he cannot find an opening to slip himself into. It’s slow, he gets shoved into several people who didn’t seem to care he was moving past. But it’s better than remaining stranded.
Pero can see people walking away. He’s close to freeing himself from the horde of angered people.
Then suddenly, he feels a pulling. He tightens his grip on the soft material in his arms, but it’s too late. The fur slips from his fingers and disappears. Pero whirls around in place, searching for the source of the pulling. For his coat. But all he can find in every direction are the faces of the species he is pretending to belong to.
Pero’s heart quickens. Where is it? Shouted words blur together into an unrelenting howl and echo through Pero’s head. Pero searches through the crowd. It couldn’t have gone far, could it?
He’d thought the most terrifying point in his life would be the battle he’d escaped a few weeks ago. But that terror pales in comparison to this.
Pero’s knees weaken. His hands begin to shake. What if he never finds it? What if someone saw the coat being pulled from his grasp and decided to keep it for themselves?
Tears sting at Pero’s eyes. His vision blurs. His body threatens to collapse on itself. He just wants to go home. And yet, somehow that was too much to ask of humanity to allow.
How could he be so stupid as to ignore the stories he’d been told? He should have known this would happen. It always happens. That’s why no one ever dared journey past the beach. And yet he had.
Over the ringing in his ears, he hears a single voice.
“Excuse me,” It says before a small tap on his shoulder sends Pero spinning on his heel. “You dropped your coat,” The voice, now matched to a face, finishes, lifting the familiar fur as an offering.
Pero tears the coat from your grip and pulls it close to his chest, almost as if he were guarding an infant. His voice refuses to work, so he gives you a teary smile of gratitude. He hopes humans understand smiles.
You smile back.
***
“Not again,” you groan when the usual market commotion elevates into enraged shouts.
Why couldn’t they wait just five more minutes before starting a fight? Five minutes and you would’ve been at your stand, out of the way of this nonsense.
You shift your basket to your hip and use your free hand to push through. You’re already late this morning; you don’t need to get stuck in the middle of this.
Your hope begins to diminish, though, when you lift yourself onto your toes and discover that you can’t see the end of the chaos.
You curse under your breath before continuing to push in the direction you know you will eventually find your stand. Why did this have to happen today of all days? Sure, you’d been telling yourself for months to arrive before sunrise so you’d beat the morning rush, but was it too much to ask for the stars to align and give you one, just one, nonsense-free day?
A fist narrowly misses your ear. If it had been years ago, you’d have flinched. But you’ve swam through this sort of crowd enough times by now that a stray punch is the least of your worries.
A body slams into yours. You stumble backwards, shifting your basket just enough that its contents don’t spill out. You’re about to move on when you feel a tug at your arm.
You pull back to free yourself and are met with hardly any resistance. You look down. A strange coat falls at your feet.
Your visions snaps back up in time to see the last of the soft material slipping from the arms of its owner. He’s a strange man. In another town, perhaps he’d fit in. But in this small gathering of fishermen and farmers, he stands out like a sore thumb. The scar over his eye, combined with the clumsiness as he navigates the crowd tells you this man spends very little time in a bustling market like this.
The crowd shifts, pulling the man out of your sight.
You’re tempted to continue on. The coat isn’t your problem. If it were important, he’d have kept a better grip on it. But, as you take a step, something stops you.
With very little grace, you stoop to pick up the coat, nearly dropping your basket in the process. You drape the coat over your arm and run your fingers over the soft fur.
You search through the slowly calming crowd. With every passing moment, you begin to lose hope of finding him again. Every minute of your day is precious and you’ve already lost time to the crowd.
You’re about to give up when you spot a tense figure. He’s searching around him, and upon closer inspection, you find panic in his eyes. He turns to search in the other direction, unsure as to where to look.
You push through the crowd until you’re close enough for him to hear you.
“Excuse me,” you speak up over the hum of the busy town square. He doesn’t respond for a moment, so you tap him on the shoulder.
As if he’d been burned, the man whirls around. He looks as though he can’t decide whether to lash out or collapse in panic.
“You dropped your coat,” You shift to offer him the peculiar fur.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he tears the coat from your grip and holds it close.
His eyes threaten to overflow with relief. The coat must have been incredibly important to him. A family heirloom, you suppose.
He offers a hesitant smile. You return the gesture before adjusting the basket at your hip and shuffling away.

YGO! Questionnaire
Tagged by @cipher-wise
Favorite series:
My favorite series based on what I watched and enjoyed would have to be Arc-V!!! It's honestly the series that got me to adore YGO when previously I'd seen YGO as, and I chilidishly quote, "uncool". Everything about Arc-V is pretty much wonderful: Yuya's presence as a "everyone MUST be happy" kind of character in a plot that discusses themes of war, revenge, and despair is absolutely refreshing (especially when Yuya's ideals of happiness are stripped from him and made a mockery of by, *coughs* one of my favorite characters in the franchise *coughs*).
I love how the four Yuu boys are a wonderful combination of "protagonists" (/anatagonists) and how they each play off of each other's weaknesses and strengths, often acting as mirrors to each other in their individual dimensions while having amazing interactions (Yugo and Yuri, anyone? Yuri and Yuya?).
I admire how the endgame plot is a perversion of Yuya's ideals: he gets what he wants, showering happiness upon all, but that "happiness" is corrupted into the notion of entertainment. While Yuya seeks to provide people with smiles and laughter, to give them hope to work together through tough times and to stay strong in the face of adversity, his "counterparts" in the endgame are really good at acting as Yuya's mirror: showing that his style of performing can also be used to appease the bloodthirst of one's own self and that happiness can be corrupted into self-deserving power.
...Hard to put that into exact words without spoiling a lot of things but, gosh, let's just say that Yuri and ____ are the perfect mirrors to Yuya in terms of what his entertainment dueling style is meant to be.
The plot over all is pretty good! I won't lie and say it stands strong all the way throughout the story but the first half is amazing and there are some pretty strong episodes in the second half (Yugo and Rin, the parasite episodes in general, Yuri Yuri YURI). I can definitely say that the humor is there, the characters are amazing (if nothing else, watch for the Yuu Boys, the Bracelet Gals, and Shun versus Sora!!) and having come into the show around episode 104, I was pleasantly surprised by the trip Arc-V brought me and how it played with its protagonist, giving him hope, kicking him down, and toying with his mind - just like the way a warzone might to any idealistic individual.
In terms of other series, I like VRAINS but only up to like episode 19 (or the end of the Data Bank arc). It had potential and I kept hoping it would get better but the plot was constantly floundering, there are plot holes abundant (sewer monsters, ugh), character development is inconsistent not to mention very shallow, VRAINS has some of the best side characters but they're kicked to the curb by a bland protagonist and a villain that could've been so much cooler but they made him a sympathetic mess.
...I have a lot of gripes with VRAINS but, if it were to ever be rewritten with clear goalposts and plot twists in mind (not to mention development on ideas like Charisma Duelists because at the end of the show I still have not a fucking clue what a Charisma Duelists is or was) I would say it has potential to become my favorite series but Arc-V clearly beats it for me in every category lmao.
Zexal’s also really good too!!! I don’t get all the hate behind it because it’s actually really interesting and engaging (also IV’s definition of fanservice is literally the only type of fanservice I will ever accept) and I think I’ve even cried a couple of times during the course of the plot which is like,,, shocking considering it’s not a show I thought I’d cry over (I cried in Arc-V too but goddamn does tiny Yuya just want to make you tear up lmao). This show is really good emotionally and it’s literally so stupid how Kaito carries a lot of the early and middle game of the show yet most of the meat of the plot doesn’t begin to unravel until the second season.
Also, if you ever want to watch a show of 100+ episodes that is so masterfully written that there is foreshadowing for stuff in like episode 130+ on EPISODE ONE, please watch this. Literally there are so many hints of what is going to happen in the future in the early episodes and you won’t really be able to tell what those hints are until you’ve finished the show but goddamn when you go back and rewatch things it does indeed feel amazing how much foreshadowing they threaded into the show without you ever knowing...(please don’t search for spoilers if you intend to watch this. I went into the show knowing some spoilers tho not all and, while I was still pleased by what I watched, I honestly can agree the show is A Lot Better without knowing ANYTHING)
Favorite Protagonist: Yuya. For sure, out of all the series, Yuya.
He’s a refreshing protagonist, especially considering he shines in a world of war and despair. He’s also someone who you empathize with right at the start and want to hope in, especially since he is the “happiness” in a word of “madness” and “sorrow”. He’s not someone out to save the world (not really, anyways), but his actions touch on the lives of others anyways, giving people in a hope in a world that is otherwise cruel and heartless. Also, it really helps that he’s able to pull you into his world of “egaos”, making you believe in him and root for him despite how cheesy his ideals may or may not sound.
Also love how, despite being the centerpiece of “happiness”, Yuya isn’t allowed to always be happy :> Not spoiling plot related things but if you like protagonists going off the rails insane at times, Yuya’s definitely a fun protagonist for that!!!
Favorite Rival:
Kaito Tenjou!!! Literally the best rival in the series that I’ve seen. Everything about him is literally perfect ngl. From the way he’s chillingly introduced, with the spine-tingling whistles and cruel, almost merciless nature, to the way he slowly becomes sympathetic while also remaining a terrifying presence whenever he appears...I love him????
Favorite BFF:
Does Shoichi count? Because like...he’s Yusaku’s closest friend and ally in the series and I generally don’t pay attention to the other BFF’s in the other series (or at least, the ones I can recall bc I know in Zexal that Yuma has a whole group of friends lmao).
But I like Shoichi!! He cares about Yusaku a lot, is pretty damn cool as a sidekick hacker, his sideplot with his brother was actually honestly endearing and I loved the mystery about him. His early-game jokes w/ Ai to tease Yusaku were also a good laugh.
Favorite GFF:
Not a girl friend forever for the main protagonist (although she like...lowkey confessed to him...though that plot really never went anywhere so I still don’t know what the fuck THAT was about) but,,, Ema Bessho,,
If y’all knew me back in my peak YGO days when VRAINS was airing,,, this gal was and STILL is my favorite girl of the YGO series. Even though she was pretty much done dirty imo I still love her (even despite considering she’s been made a damsel-in-distress at least three times, she’s only ever won one duel on-screen despite being supposedly good at dueling, ngl they could’ve done so much more with her but tbh she’s mostly just an asset to solve problems at whim and barely gets character development/does nothing but watch and spectate stuff late-game).
Even though she’s like...the unfortunate side character who’s probably meant to be more fanservice than interesting, in the first 19 episodes (and even the Revolver vs. her fight as well as the one time she meets Aoi IRL early-game) made her out to be a lot cooler and complex than she ended up being. I mean,,, a hacker gal who’s self-serving, cynical, and cold-hearted taking on the tasks of her (potentially ex) boyfriend while being really nice to his sister to the point she baffles even herself,,, we could’ve had a really unique and cool character to play around with here but instead we got...cool-ass character with potential to be something more reduced to a spectator with nothing better to do than idolize the main protagonist and have a plot with her brother that honestly detracted from her character more than it added to it imo.
Also Ema could’ve been a female Yuri but,,, nope,,, they decided she was better as a background piece instead TwT
Favorite Villain: Yuri.
Literally Yuri.
I could choose the leather jacket w/ fluff boi in a certain series because hot damn was that guy convincing AF that he wasn’t an evil psychopath (and even while knowing that he was, I still got fooled into thinking he was a good guy somehow omg) however,,, I’ve always held a love for Yuri and the way he’s been portrayed.
Despite ALWAYS being the bad guy, the show has always made this purple fucker into the most entertaining character on-screen. He even beats Yuya sometimes in terms of how entertaining he is - that’s literally how good he is,,
Also his facial expressions are amazing, he’s a VERY VALID threat to the main cast (and his creeper levels are not only off the charts but literally called out by the main female protagonist herself lmao), and he acts as the perfect foil to Yuya, battling not to entertain others but to entertain himself.
Also, he likes killing people.
No this is not a joke.
He literally likes killing people. And is pretty sadistic about it, too.
(^^^^ for those who don’t get the joke, “Fusion” is pronounced “Yuugo” which sounds similar to “Yugo” which is what,,, Yuri is making fun of,,, more context is needed of course but this is a Great Running Gag)
Favorite card:
I don’t know if it actually exists as an actual card but...that crystal dragon from the YGO movie with the glass pyramid. Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon...it’s really pretty...I love it...
Favorite Episode:
I’m...too lazy to search for names of these episodes but I can give brief summaries of them,,, because I can’t choose,,,
Arc-V: Shun vs. Sora (ALL episodes). Hot damn if you have never watched YGO but want to try and see for yourself why people like it: WATCH THESE EPISODES. I can’t explain how amazing these episodes are and, while I admit jumping straight into them might have you missing out on some important context (such as who Shun is or why Sora’s battle tactics lead to revelation) it’s honestly an amazing fight regardless. The battle starts off plain enough - there’s obvious tension, it seems like a typical fight of a battle royale, etc. - my god does the battle ramp up in emotional tension and promptly kick you in the gut with not only how blindsided you’ve been, but it also showcases just how cruel these “entertainment duels” can really get.
Any episode with Yuri. Literally any episode he’s in.
I think this is like...episode 8 of VRAINS...but whenever it is that Akira hires Ema to find the reason why Aoi just...straight up got knocked into a coma. Literally this is my favorite episode when it comes to Ema. The way she makes fun of Akira even while aware of his situation,,, her cruel selfishness and desire for money bubbling to the surface, the way she confesses how she can’t be trusted willingly and still asks Akira why he’s hiring her,,, god I love this episode in terms of what Ema could’ve always been.
Episode 13 (/14?) of Zexal!!! This is the episode Kaito appears and when the show REALLY picks up. Kaito is a fun bastard of a rival and tbh I don’t think I’ll ever stop getting chills of him walking in, debris frozen in time all around him, as he approaches his victim, whistling an eerie children’s tune as he gets ready to close in for the kill,,,,
Favorite Deck to Use:
I don’t...really play the game itself but...I have used a couple of decks and I guess you can say I really love Raid Raptors??? First of all, those warbirds make really fun sounds I love ‘em in the anime but they’re also just fun to use in general (even tho I used a,,, very basic deck for them,,, I love them still).
Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum or Link:
XYZ bc it’s really the only summoning method I’m used to lol :P. Also XYZ loyalist I guess????
Years in fandom: roughly five to six years iirc? I mean, I was a fan of the early day YGO and watched it as a kid but not active enough to be in the fandom for it lmao. Also not in the fandom atm because Sevens lost my attention (it’s a good show!!! I’m just unfortunately more a fan of things with serious plots and darker themes and it’s hard for me to stomach slice-of-life shows that don’t focus on a mature and engaging plot). However, Arc-V and Zexal holds a special place in my heart (as does VRAINS, begrudgingly) and so I occasionally find myself wandering back to these shows like right now,,,
#yugioh#Arc-v#Zexal#honestly Arc-V feels like the type of show beginners should watch if they want to get into YGO#granted it might take all the way up until Yuto and Shun to get into the show#but once you hit Shun versus Sora oh my god does the slowburn really feel worth it#it will also probably surprise no one that I have several OC's based on who Ema Bessho could've been and despite how much I hate how she's-#been written in canon I've taken ideas I've had for how she could be better written and slapped them onto characters for my own story uwu

(It’s a) MYSTERY (why they call themselves a) GANG
hey!!! this is a short gift fic for my pal @destyni-is-me AKA homeiswherethestuckis! this is a mystery gang beta kids, merry christmas and i hope everyone is having a good week!
“It’s nine twenty-seven pm,” Dave whispers into the camera. “And we are headed into the most haunted mansion in the south-eastern United States.”
“What are you doing?”
“I told you to stop with the found footage crap.”
“Dave…”
“We’re on the hunt for not one, but maybe even…” Dave has to cover his mouth for a second, stifling his laughter. “Two. Ghosts.”
“Dave!” Jade laughs, slapping his shoulder. Dave looks way too proud of himself , elbowing John in the ribs and dodging Rose’s mildly pissed glare.
“C’mon man,” John complains as he parks his beat up Honda Odyssey in the drive up to the mansion. “Please take this seriously. We’re not even hunting ghosts.”
“I have to keep it interesting for myself,” Dave replies. He got past the need for irony a long time ago, right after the crew killed his brother’s ghost and asked him to tag along. But in the last year or so, in the midst of the many odd-jobs befitting this good ol’ mystery gang, he’s taken to taking the piss out of it.
Mostly because they haven’t found a job in… a good while.
It’s almost convinced him that his brother’s ghost was a total fluke.
Like, Rose got into the ‘biz because she thought she contacted beings from a nether realm, and John got into it to find ‘whatever killed my grandmother.’ (probably a bear tbh, she was an old lady hiking in the woods?)
Jade is in it for pure sport.
She also funds the ‘gang’ when they can’t get paying work.
“What was the deal with this place, anyway?” Dave asks, as they hoist bags of equipment and talismans and some sorts of ‘magic’ stuff onto their shoulders. (Rose has like a million focusing crystals) “Like all of our stuff so far has just been crazy guys in bad masks terrorizing children.”
“Still valuable work,” Rose puts in, as she straightens her fishnets. Cybergoth until she runs out of teeth to beat out of that dead horse she’s riding.
“Sure,” Dave snorts derisively. “Cause a guy running around in a George Bush mask is really harmful to our local communities.”
“Hey,” John says, waving a hand in front of Dave’s face, halting his progression up the front steps of the mansion. “We got paid pretty well for catching those murder clowns.”
“The leader walked right into your car because he was too high to run!” Dave protests.
Jade laughs at that. Even Rose snorts.
John looks mildly embarrassed, but waves it off and stomps into the house.
Dave stumbles right after him, quickly followed by Jade and Rose.
And the door clicks shut behind the four.
Time for another night like all of the others.
“No, this way!” John says urgently. His hands are shaking on his flashlight.
“What are you talking about, that just leads to the attic,” Rose scolds him. But she’s also shaking.
That click of the door that Dave heard earlier?
That was every single external door and window of the house locking, all at once.
A fact no one figured out until the cabinets started shaking violently, the lights exploded in their bulbs, and the candles blew to dark. Shortly after that, Rose held up her (iron) tire iron, whispered an incantation, and then looked extremely troubled when it failed.
John managed to throw a hex bag into both the north and south corners of the house, to no avail. Dave had forgotten the east and west bags in the car.
And Jade?
Jade saw a flicker of a person’s face, white and ghostly.
And she shouted with joy.
And she sprinted off into an abandoned hallway, salt in her shotgun and glee in her eyes.
Dave and Rose tried to go after her, but were met with another ghost.
This one had seven pupils swirling in one of her eyes.
And John’s face swelled with a bright pink blush.
The spectre grinned devilishly, and then disappeared.
With her vanishing, everything else in the house stilled. And the light bulbs in their flashlights started to work once more. Which brought the three remaining kiddoes back to the present.
“Dude, I thought you said you knew the layout of this place!” Dave complains. “But now Jade’s missing and we can’t even think about finding her!”
John winces. He strides forward instead of answering, throwing down another door. He’s never the one to admit he’s absolute shit at any actual monster hunting.
“I’m sure she’s fine, Dave, she’s a very capable hunter,” Rose tries to reassure him, as she peers carefully around a corner.
Dave thought tonight was just going to be another annoying and vaguely creepy stakeout in an old and smelly house. But what do they encounter? Actual, real, ghosts. Ghosts who have locked every single fucking door in the place. Ghosts who don’t want them to escape.
“Holy shit, they’re gonna pick us off one by one,” Dave tries to say with an even voice.
The next door that John throws open, he freezes.
“Jade?” he asks. And Dave and Rose stop their steps.
John’s face is illuminated by a sickly green light. His eyes are wide, and filled with wonder and excitement.
“What?” Rose asks. And John leaps forward.
“Jade!” he exclaims.
Dave tries to stop him, tries to grab his arm or something useful. But he can’t seem to get a hold on him before the wooden door is slamming shut.
And Dave and Rose are alone.
Rose starts breathing a little fast, and scrambles for the doorknob. It’s so dark in that cramped little hallway, and the air is still and old. The handle won’t turn for her, and her movements become jerky and desperate.
Dave slams a fist against the doorway.
“John!” he calls. “John!!!”
But it’s to no avail.
Not even the bottom of the door shows any light.
Dave turns his flashlight to shine back down the hallway from whence they came.
“Maybe if we wait at the entrance, they’ll come by the end of the night?” he says.
Rose just nods. She doesn’t know what to do, either.
“We can make a circle to keep safe in,” she agrees,
And Dave nods, and with a gulp, allows Rose to lead the way.
At the entrance, Dave notices something. An odd green glow, not unlike the one that took John. He bristles, and grips Rose’s arm. Her LED dreadlocks shine on his hand, and she looks back at him with disdain.
“What?” she asks.
Dave points to the foyer.
“It’s that green again,” he tells her.
Rose flips the switch on her headdress, and gasps. She can see it, too.
“It’s coming from that door!” she exclaims.
Dave races with her, and they both trip through the open ballroom… into a scene unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.
What they see here is a beautiful, well-lit ballroom.
Its walls are filled with paintings of angels and flowers, mirrors taking up every available space. The floors are polished golden and cream tile, and the ceiling is draped with candle-lit chandeliers and sconces.
The whole room is bright, and the trickle of a concertina’s reedy notes emanate seemingly from the very air.
And as Dave and Rose wander further into the room, they see them.
Illuminated by moonlight and candles, on the far end, are John and Jade dancing arm in arm. Their clothes almost morph as they move, forming the tresses of a suit and ballgown.
“A waltz?” Rose wonders aloud, and… Dave is just confused.
John and Jade have yet to notice them.
“Guys?”
And Dave thought too soon.
When he and Rose reach the middle of the ballroom, Jade turns to them, one eye spinning with dots.
And she holds up her rifle.
Pointed straight for Dave’s face.
And then the room fills with red.
“OKAY, OKAY, STOP THIS NONSENSE,” A booming voice shouts.
Jade and John fall limp to the ground in a startling way, and the evil spectre from before appears between their bodies. She scowls at the ceiling, making maybe the ugliest cranky face Dave has ever seen.
And as she does, another figure floats through the wall.
“I just can’t have any fun anymore!” The spectre nearly shrieks, and the newcomer’s brow stitches together as he covers his ears.
“Shut the fuck up! Can’t you see how much they suck at their job?!” he says, in that same booming voice from before, but with a little less godlike echoing.
The first ghost sticks her tongue out at him, and sinks through the floor with a wail.
And the new ghost walks right up to Dave and Rose, holding his finger out to them and scolding. He’s shorter than Dave, floating off of the floor in order to be at eye level.
“Listen here you good for nothing asswipes!” he yells, getting right up to them. “I don’t know who hired you to come here but you’re not good enough at it to not get yourselves killed! Like a bunch of rocksucking idiots still on their mother’s left teat! What the fuck!”
He turns to Rose, briefly, and then looks Dave up and down and grimaces.
“Grab your friends and get the fuck out of my house!” he shouts. And disappears.
The illusion of the ballroom and the garb disappears, leaving a dusty old dining room in its place.
And Dave and Rose do just as they’re told.

I actually loved this chapter! I was kinda meh on the Marley arc at first, but this completely changed my feelings on it!! Seeing everything from the Warriors' perspective is a refreshing change of pace.
Bertolt is the God of Destruction, RBA deserved better, Magath is actually a nice guy, poor Porco has a terrible name and deserves more love
This is the first chapter in the Marley arc I've wholeheartedly enjoyed. I was always looking forward to getting the Warriors' perspective, but the way in which it's been done has been terrible pacing wise, if definitely interesting story-wise; consequently I've had mixed feelings about the recent chapters. But this one managed to really make me feel for the characters and their tragic, terrible circumstances for the first time in awhile.
Good chapter in terms of lore although kinda meh in terms of story development
I liked the chapter, and the Marley thing we are going through, but I would still like to return to the walls
Not the strongest chapter, feels the same kind of "recap-y" that 63 did, but still a solid outing. I'm convinced we're staying in Marley as the main location for the final arc of the series, with the main cast's appearance kicking events into overdrive.
IN A RECENT INTERVIEW, ISAYAMA REFERRED TO MARLEY AS AN “ARC”, NOT A VOLUME. WOULD YOU BE HAPPY IF THE MARLEY PERSPECTIVE CONTINUES FOR AN ENTIRE 16 CHAPTERS? (1,046 Responses)
We are a fandom divided.
I feel guilty about complaining too much but I really am bitter that I have to wait another month to potentially be disappointed again
I'm kinda concerned where the series is going‚ it seems like Isayama's taking it slow as he's running out of time
As much as i am loving all of this marley pov i do crave for just...idk something else. Like don't get me wrong i love finally getting more explorations of Reiner but it would be better to have some variation: like what about bertholht, why is he a warrior?? and annie; is her dad still around?
I can see why Isayama's doing this, but it feels v e r y s l o w.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I kinda miss eren.
HOW MANY MORE CHAPTERS FROM THE MARLEY PERSPECTIVE WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE? (1,043 Responses)
48.6% would like to see the Marley Files end in 1-3 months. 25.8% of the fandom is much more flexible. Judging from the write in comment, trust in Isayama is still high.
I would be happy if Marley took over the whole manga
I want the main cast to reappear, but to see them from the Marley perspective
I would've like to get back to the Walldians by now, but I think I'm good for another chapter or two of the Warriors.
I'd like the perspective to switch between marley and paradis
Depends if Pieck is often seen.
Looking forward to seeing the fall of Shinganshina from the warriors perspective
I'm starting to think Isayama will troll so hard. Marley Arc to the bitter end. Sasuga Isayama.
If this means we're going to remain in Marley for a while, I hope we'll at least get to see something exciting soon, like maybe at the festival. So far we've been getting more information than action, so I'd like to return to that action soon. I also can't wait to learn more about the Tyber family and meet the members.
WHICH STATEMENT MOST CLOSELY MATCHES YOUR FEELINGS FOR THE MARLEY CHAPTERS AS A WHOLE? (1,044 Responses)
Nearly everyone who responded has enjoyed the Marley focus. 39% would be happy with a little more, while 31% liked it but are ready to return to the main cast.
On the negative side, 3.4% said that while it was necessary they didn’t enjoy it. Only .4% said it ruined their enjoyment of the series.
I like the Marleyan perspective, honestly if the rest of the series was like this (with a few chapters focused on the main cast of course) I think that would be great!
I felt the Marley perspective was necessary but I was bored most of the time. And now I'm just desperate to head back to the main cast.
I enjoyed the Marley perspective and I'm fine with more of it but something has to happen because I'm starting to get bored
This series has just been a series of peaks (Piecks?!) and whenever I think that it's surely gotten as good as it can get, they surprise me. The 30 day wait is hellish lately, more so than ever before.
HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT TO RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL CAST ON PARADIS? (1,040 Responses)
While the previous questions have shown we are patient people, a solid 50% would sell their soul, or at least consider it, for a return to the original cast.
Lemme see the main cast again, but keep the best girl
I would still love to know if Jean has grown some ill-adviced facial hair, but I also love the Marley chapters.
I at least want a glimpse of the Walldians post-time skip! I especially want to see Colossal Armin and if amputee-kun is Eren! I'm okay with a couple more chapters in Marley since I trust Isayama that this part of the story will be important (plus the characters are interesting and I enjoy seeing RBA flashbacks), but I just miss the old crew and want to see what they've been up to the past few years!
I feel like in all honesty, I enjoy the Marley perspective but I'd like to see how our 104th cast is doing. I'd really hate for them to do the same thing to Reiner and Co and recreate Shiganshina.
BOI I want to see the original squad again PLEASE
I love the Marley Arc!
Wake me up when the main casts return
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE CHAPTER? (1,038 Responses)
Judging from the write in comments, Pieck is the best girl. 33% of us had a favorite moment that involved her. Seeing the Paradis mission from the perspective of the warriors and the reveal of the Tyber family had 17% and 18% respectively.
tag yourself im zeke being super enthusiastic over pieck
Boooring... except for sasuga pieck. That part made me laugh.
Zeke's subtle way of warning everyone that the room is bugged, and Pieck and Reiner immediatly understanding.
I was excited to learn about the 9th titan, the Tybar family and Zeke praising Pieck. Very heart-broken for Reiner though.
Tired of seeing Marcel get eaten. Its a little repetatitive
HOW MUCH WORSE CAN REINER’S LIFE GET... FROM THE NEW CHAPTERS, WHICH OF THESE IS THE MOST TERRIBLE MOMENT FOR HIM? (1,032 Responses)
Each new event of Reiner's life is like beating a piñata of misery. Everything is terrible and the sadness candy just keeps spilling out. When the piñata is done, they beat Reiner with the bat instead.
Learning of Marcel's lie, immediately followed by Marcel's death, giving him no chance for closure or resolution
Tough one.. but i say his mom's pressure & the conflict of seeing pradise ppl as normal human being & still having to kill them.
I want some form of lasting happiness for Reiner Braun
#ProtectReiner854
Reiner seems to have inherited Ymir's real titan power: the Complex and Depressing Backstory Titan
I would like everyone to hug the shit out of Reigner.
Being Reiner is suffering. Seeing his face the page after his own father refused to acknowledge him as human broke something inside of me. Also Galliard is still a dick but I'm disliking him less.
NEW CHARACTERS MEAN NEW SHIPS. HAVE ANY CAUGHT YOUR INTEREST? (1,040 Responses)
Someone please remind me to never give “Other” as an option for a shipping question :/ I do, however, appreciate that almost 60% of you would like Reiner to have a bit of happiness.
Annie x freedom from her crystal, Pieck x being exactly right, porco x death, Isayama x vague hints, Zeke x tea, Everyone x Happiness (except them motherfucking Marleyans) and my personal notp, Zevi, were a few of the many write in answers.
WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING NEW REVELATION FROM THE CHAPTER? (1,034 Responses)
Last month learning the identity of the 9th titan was high on everyone’s wish this. This month we got it. 52.5% were most happy to learn about Warhammer.
At least we know the 9th titan. Just a decent chapter, Not my favorite of this arc though.
Really enjoyed this chapter, did not expect a mention of the ninth Titan. The montage of the Warriors was really awesome too.
Tybur family's new plot introduction is very intersting! I still think zakrus in pradise is shady as hell.. maybe he'll play a role in pradise fall.. pradise cant be too unified. Marley is not unified either.
I'm so excited to see more of the Tyber family. Their brief scene is drawn in an epic and mysterious fashion - symbols of seashells, flowing robes, a man with a clenched fist and correspondingly flowing golden locks standing before a crowd. I expect them to play a pivotal role in whatever comes.
MAGATH IS SO FAR THE ONLY MARLEYAN WHO HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE WARRIORS AS HUMANS. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT HIM? (1,027 Responses)
Magath is perfectly meh. About 50% of us place him in the dead center between “tiniest gold star ever” and “swell guy.”
Magath is on the Eldians team. He loves and cares about all the Warriors, is possible he loves them as his children...I thought it was cute how he asked them to finish their mission and come home together! Hes like a tsundere "I-Its not like i care about you eldian demons!"
FAVORITE CHARACTER THUS FAR IN THIS ARC? (1,043 Responses)
Reiner wins by a landslide. I think it comes as no surprise to anyone that Pieck has a solid showing with 17%. Zeke came in 3rd with 9.3%
Zeke's unique & bizzarre nature.. immense cruelty + cleverness + immature nature + bizzare obession of games, playing & his twisted concept of fun! This guy is a very interesting mixture indeed.
Pieck is a great new character.
Tbh the series is kind of getting boring but Pieck is Bae
Reiner has become my absolute favorite character in the series.
LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTER THUS FAR IN THIS ARC? (1,029 Responses)
Reiner’s dad edged out his mom for least favorite character, but the real news is that 24% of people hate Gabi and Porco even more than Reiner’s terrible parents.
Can i just pick both of Reiner's parents?
Reiners father and mother are both trash i'm taking him away i'm his mother now.
Asshole marley soldier who made bomb noises @ the disabled soldiers
Karina Braun doesn't deserve the hates she gets, she wasn't tricking Reiner...she legit believed ths they would live with his father one day, she really loves him and you see her pain filled face when Reiner lies and says "It was hell"
I like Porkboi more than I'd like to admit.
If I was the Colossal Titan I would find Reiner's father and flip him what would literally be the biggest middle finger ever.
Can't stand Porco. Won't ever forgive him for Ymir. Won't ever forgive Reiner or Bert for Ymir either tbh
HAS THIS CHAPTER CHANGED YOUR FEELINGS TOWARDS THE WARRIORS (1,023 Responses)
51.2% say yes!
I'm far more sympathetic to them than before, especially Reiner. That poor boy only wanted to have his family together.
Last chapter changed my views about them.
Not much - this is pretty much how I though things would be once we found out about the ghetto and Marley. The only really interesting bits are the new pieces of info, like the Tybur family and the 9th titan.
I've gone from 100% love to 110% love
I feel that this "arc" is being dragged on for the purpose of readers gaining sympathy with them and for me last volume was enough to make us sympathize with them. I have no patience left for this especially when I know the end is closing and there is more to cover and I’m afraid it'll be rushed or that I would lose interest before we reach that part
I feel invested in Porco against my better judgment... and I wonder...if there will ever be a moment when Pieck is not exactly right as expected... :o I wanna see Bertholt's past!!!!!!
RATE EACH WARRIOR IN TERMS OF HOW THIS CHAPTER AFFECTED YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF THEM
The Winners: Reiner - 840 people view him more favorably Pieck - 708 people view her more favorably
The Losers: Gabi - 151 people view her less favorably Porco - 161 people view him less favorably
I love RBA. Zeke is interesting as ever. Falco looks like he'll probably end up being a character I'll end up really liking, but he's not there yet. Don't really care about Pieck currently. Hate Gabi and Galliard.
Pieck is love
I wish we'd met Pieck earlier because she's everything.
porco the best
Bardlot is best girl
WHICH CHARACTERS DO YOU GENERALLY ENJOY THE MOST (1,032 Responses)
Looking back over past polls, support for the 104th has stayed consistent. The real change is with the vets. In early polls, 30-40% of people preferred them. That number has fallen to 12%. I suspect some have left the series or aren’t interested enough in the story direction to take the poll.

FINAL THOUGHTS
There were more than 500 additional write in comments. I wish I could publish them all. Thank you for sharing all your thoughts!
I'm still not over the serumbowl and how much the paradis cast showed they're really no better than the ones they're fighting against, so I'm really happy to see the side that's been less favored by the narration so far. Bless the warriors, they're all full of personality and I already love them.
It was rlly heartbreaking when Marcel tells the truth to Reiner and he deludes himself saying: ""wtf are you talking about Marcel? I WAS CHOSEN BY MARLEY, i don't believe you"".The Armored Titan is the only thing hes got...
Next chapter is a recap of the old arcs with Warrior POV I can bet my seafood on it.
This and chapter 94 have been my favorites so far. Please give me more Reiner, more marley, more warriors, more everything. Isayama I love you.
LOVE THE WARRIORS! On a more serious note, im very curious about zeke and his true motives.. what is he trying to accomplish? I also really wish that his relationship with eren can be expanded on. Zeke told eren that he would save him. Does he to some degree care for eren's own life? Or is he just after eren's powers? Regardless, i find zeke fascinating.
Good but background could have been better incorporated with both sides
I'm loving the Marley arc. We need the other side of the coin and this really shows that evil can be grey. Neither the islanders or Marley-Eldians are really bad...they're just all raised/brain-washed in different settings. I really enjoy the added layers fo Reiner.
These few chapters have been really interesting, but I hope to see our guys back on Paradis, unless Amputee-kun turns out to be Eren and the other Survey Corps have infiltred Marley. Would love for the story to continue from that point of view, but with flashbacks as to what happened in Paradis. Really interesting chapters overall, learning about the 9 titans was really hype.
I hope that Isayama gives us an ending almost as great as ATLA. Each character gets a proper conclusion & the entire story is satisfying. I want AOT to go down as one of the top 10 solid anime/manga of all time. I have faith in Isayama but still the future is unpredictable.
I hope we get to see the attack on Wall Maria from the warriors pov next chapter. And I was disappointed that Amputee guy wasn't in this chapter.
More Marley please. Even if some are salty not to see the Walldians, I think it's very enlightening to see Marley and Warrior perspective on this. As would say Bertolt : "no one is at fault" and, in the same time, each side has their fault.
I've been rocking with this arc and loving it, although I've generally had little complaint with any arc of this series, I love everyone :) But I think some development for my favorite characters and their side of the war is backed up by some subtle set-up for the climax of it all. For all that some people are desperate to see the main cast, I think this kind of exploration is necessary, not just for emotional investment, but because it gives us a look at the world the Walldians are so desperate to get to. It shows that the battle is only just beginning; Marley is not the endgame boss, and in fact it might be the only thing standing in the way of total destruction for all Eldians. How do they deal with that? Seeing that from the Warriors' perspective gives it reality and weight.
I am enjoying the Marley perspective, but I'm having trouble with the pacing. These past 2 chapters are moving so slow. And even though Reiner is my favourite character, I wish we wouldn't have such a huge focus on him chapter after chapter. It's becoming a bit repetitive, and I would rather learn more about the other warriors. I am looking forward to seeing RBA's pov of the attack on Shiganshina however. :)
Shit's heatin' up! Woo!
I am such a fuckin' slut for all the Marley stuff. I have been dying to see everything from the Warriors' perspective since the initial reveal of Marley and honestly I live on the tears of everyone bitching about how there's too much Marley. EMA are pretty much...... the most boring characters in the series so I am livin' this up. Give me more.
MORE MEMES PLEASE (and a bit of main cast too)
can i see more bardlot creating titnas???? please answer this one question!!!!!!!
Waiting for Annie to come back. Any moment now.
It's a good chapter, I'm enjoying seeing the flashbacks and the distinction of the Titan powers. On a smaller note regarding that, I wish they'd tell us what makes the Female Titan "female."
Very good chapter, but it feels like one that's setting up for the rest of the volume. I'm looking forward to this festival as well as getting even more details about the warriors' mission on Paradis
Headbutt of Love copyright Isayama
A relatively good chapter, but I reallllllly want to see the main cast again. It doesn't have to be from their perspective, but I just want to see them again after a 4 year time skip.
We will most certainly remain on Marley, but the perspective will soon shift to the main cast when the rest of them arrive to backup Eren and trash the festival in which the Tieber family will present the plan to capture the Founding Titan.
I can see why Reiner had all that plot armour now! Learning more about the warriors (RBA etc, not the new kids :/) has been really interesting and a much needed flesh out of their characters.
I enjoy seeing more of Reiner (cause he's da best) and learning more about his past and the world outside the walls. I would love to see him decide that he's done with Marley and doing things against his moral code (cause let's be real he probably is totally against this shitshow). I know he'll die and that makes me sad so I'm trying to enjoy whatever time we have left with him. ;_;
No doubt next chapter will show the Wall Maria breach from the Warriors' perspective. I only wonder how much of the flashback will be shown in a single chapter.
I hope we get more backstory on Zeke. There's still so much about him that's mysterious. More of him interacting with the other warriors is always good. I really really REALLY need to know what his thoughts on Eren are. Does he still plan on "saving" him, whatever that may mean? And how much does Pieck know?
When will we see giant naked people punch each other again?
I feel sorry for all the warriors but they killed so many people that I cannot see them as pure cinnamon rolls that need to be protected, for me they will always be morally grey.
I love that we are finally getting details about the warriors. This was something long in the making. I can understand where fans of the main cast are coming from, but you just have to have patience until we see the main cast again. For a story like Attack on Titan, which is supposed to be morally grey, we have to have insight on both sides of the conflict. It would have been extremely stupid if Isayama never delved into the warriors background after all the stuff that they had did. The timing of the switch may have been wrong, but I would rather have it now than not at all.
More Marley, but not at the expence of our heroes. It's Shingeki no Kyojin after all; not Yoroi no Kyojin
This arc has introduced the grey into the world of snk, I no longer see any one main character as bad or good because they all have the reasons with them, although perhaps some unjustifiable it still causes me to think about whether this person is a truly bad person or not. It really makes it quite difficult to favour or not favour people, however I do find that it makes it a lot more interesting.
I love these chapters, I really like the depth isayama is going for the viewers to know that this war isn't black and white and it really shines light on the complications of war and who really is the victims of not only war but also being the victims of a manipulative government.
I think this was a very powerful chapter, it had a lot of revelations and hints about the near future events. It is more clear than ever that the clash with the Paradis people is coming very soon. I am not sure how much more of RBA and Marcel heading towards the wall are we going to see though.
I can't shake the feeling that the "Tybur" family is connected to both the Tiber river (i.e. the fertile crescent--Garden of Eden imagery galore!) and Thor's hammer. Isayama likes to pull from both biblical sources and Norse sources for his world-building and I'm curious what's going on with this name.
this might have been my favorite marley chapter (which still isn't saying much but there you have it)
Seeing as I love the Walldians and Warriors equally, I think it's fair to give the Marely side attention. How can we have a dazzling final battle with no build up, including parallels and foreshadowing in this arc? Worse comes to worse I'm sure Isayama would just add the extra chapters he needed to in order to finish the story. Let's enjoy it while it's still being published.
Isayama is trying to make us think that there aren't good sides or bad sides. And he fails. We have already seen the perspective of Marley and they are clearly the villains. Not the Eldians of Paradis. The reasons why the mainland Eldians are supposed to hate Paradis Eldians are absurd. No real life social group/ethnicity is that stupid to believe what mainland Eldians believe. Or what they do to other Eldians.
As usual with every first chapter of an SnK Volume, this chapter was kind of boring, but we did learn about the ninth titan and the family thats been in possession of it. Also, seeing all 6 of Marley's titans on the battle field at once is interesting.
I think this volume will focus on the build-up to the reveal of Amputee-Kun in the present day, whilst also showing the road to Trost from RBA's perspective, which will be awesome
The perspective change felt rushed. I wish everything about the inital time-skip to the ocean had been handled differently. We got no closure whatsoever on so many important happenings and character developments re: serumbowl and basement, and that really frustrates me. The second - 3 year - just rubbed salt in the wound. I want to enjoy the Marley arc, I really do, but this just frustrates me a lot.
Snk? More like Attack on Game of Thrones.
I really do like the perspective of the warriors and as interesting as it is, I just can't get myself attached to the characters, and that makes it tiresome for me. At the beginning I was hopeful, but so far the only Warriors I can relate to are Pieck and Falco and even that's a thin line. I am eager to see them interacting with the main cast though!
This chapter in particular was great. There's so much subtlety in every action and foreshadowing of things to come. We got a lot of interesting info (the Tybur family, 9th titan, shifter memories, TONS of Reiner background, and Porco feels ahhhhh), and also saw how the warriors are operating under the stress that Marley is putting upon them. I especially loved the Zeke's tea meeting. Zeke's aware that they're being monitored and is able to subtely warn the others, who all get it except Porco, and Reiner then saves him from saying something dissident about the Tybur family and possibly Marley. The interactions of the characters are wonderfully done, with a lot of side glances and small details to pick up on. I think Isayama's character development and world building abilities are shining so brightly in this arc. And I can't get enough of the warriors, new or old. Overall, this is swiftly becoming one of my favorite arcs so far. Also please Isayama, stop torturing Reiner, give the poor man a break ;-; My heart can't handle anymore....
Less flashback plz
I just want to find out if Amputee-kun is Eren that's all I freaking want Isa.
I don't want to spend the entire rest of this arc with Marley, but I think it would be cool to first be reintroduced to the main cast through the new character's eyes. Of course, then we'll need to see things from the main cast's perspective again and find out what they've been up to this whole time
Love the new memes. =P thanks pieck and zeke
to be honest, i expected the 9th titan's reveal to be more epic art-wise
I think I am now more on the side of the "Warriors" than the main cast on Paradis and this thinking of mine is keeping me awake at night. I hate Isayama for this because now his "there's not bad or good side in the story" statement hit me in the face. Also fuck I have the need to hug smol RBA and know finally seeing their backstory and situation withe all the hometown and warrior thing was all I was asking for so I am loving this Marley arc but at the same time I wanna see the main cast so badly.
I want to see amputee Kuns plan.
Poor baby Armin is the god of destruction no soft boy :(
I want to learn more of Bertolt's backstory... He's my fav next to Reiner and we know next to nothing on his backstory and motivations.
There won't be an invasion of the island. The islanders will invade, instead.
Knowing each titan's function is good. But I feel isayama could have used the page more efficiently, like not drawing large, single-panel images of titans. I feel it's kinda wasteful to use up your pages that way with not so dense information given out.
Confrontation between Warriors and SC will be super interesting but I'm kind of apprehensive about actually seeing it. It can easily turn into another serumbowl since we don't have clear enemies and everything is relative.
i feel isayama is just making some poor decisions in an attempt to make reiner more likable and while the new perspective is interesting it was introduced far too late in the game
I do find this arc interesting and I would be okay with it going for a lot longer, however I'd hope for a few chapters which go back to the 104th's in between those chapters, just a little show of where they're at during all this, I miss those guys, its been nearly half a year since we had a chapter with them. I love reiner yo he needs to be protected at all costs. But i do wanna know more about berholdt and his family. Please i need some closure on my tol boy.
I can't wait to see Historia again and see what role she will play throughout the rest of the series. To be honest, I'm concerned for her because now that she is publicly known as the queen now, Marley might try to capture her if they find out. And what will Reiner do if that happens? Ymir is no longer around to protect her so now it is his turn to owe something to Ymir. I wonder if Historia will ever meet Porco, I hope she kicks his ass, I will never forgive him for ending such a beautiful relationship.
No one is talking about this but the part where Magath says something about Zeke saying unnecessary things in the meeting has me very intrigued. I wanna know what he means, I'm overall very interested in the role Magath may play in the story. Looks like he is the only one suspecting Zeke at the moment. These chapters have been interesting and I'm in no hurry to get back to most of the main cast, but I would like to see Jean again soon. And Armin.
You know, this was a pretty boring chapter, all things considered. However, I did enjoy seeing Gabi look a bit more "human" for at least a couple of minutes and hope the Falco vs. Gabi bit isn't drawn out for too long (I feel it could get tiresome after a while). Reiner's father honestly surprised me; I didn't think we'd get to see him at all/that Reiner would even be aware of who he was, and yet...we got his perspective and I could not have been happier with what we got. Poor Reiner, but considering his scheming selfish mother (who may also be pretty delusional), it seems fitting.
Pieck and chubby cheeks baby Bertl are the only good things in this depressing arc
Reading Isayama's interview about wanting to change perspective to blur the line between hero and villain made this arc less jarring to me. However, I really want to go back to the main cast. Also, the basement reveal ironically made the series less epic in my eyes. Mainly because the idea of a war
AND FINALLY
As expected of poll-chan, excellent questions!
I enjoy these polls and i have nothing else to say
Come back Momtaku!
